Rescued Baby Cow's First Friends Are Two Huge Puppies

The puppies follow him around all day. We talked to Happy Compromise Farm and Sanctuary about rescuing Nimai as a baby, and how he was intimidated by the other cows until he got bigger and they started grooming him!

00:00When we started introducing him to our cows, he was confused.

00:09I mean, he was shockingly small.

00:12Our other cows are enormous.

00:14He was intimidated by them.

00:16And we didn't know when he would be ready to join our other cows.

00:22We got an urgent call from the ASPCA.

00:24He had been separated from his mom, maybe at birth.

00:27Thank you!

00:28Once he started nursing, he was, like, ravenous.

00:33No, no, no, no, no, no, no!

00:36He was so happy.

00:38Five months after Nimai arrived, Tofu and Tempe came to the sanctuary.

00:44The puppies were really excited when they met him.

00:46They were just fawning over him.

00:48I think they were drawn to him because the puppies were closer to his side in age.

00:53They will escort him around the paddock.

00:56Tofu and Tempe were always around him.

00:58And that really stands out because the puppies were his first friends.

01:06The other cows were excited, but he was nervous.

01:09It took a little while, but he started to get comfortable around them.

01:14And something really special happened.

01:17The other cows groom Nimai, which is just impossibly sweet.

01:21They're just so gentle with him.

01:23It's safe to say Nimai feels right at home.

01:27He's blissed out, sunbathing, so relaxed and happy.

01:33It's just the most fulfilling thing.

01:36And I think that really aligns with why we started the sanctuary

01:40and why we continue to run the sanctuary.
