00:26christmas and i drive the rover v test fast back to the royal norwich hospital

01:13uh no alan's not in a rover anymore um because we thought we laughed enough at rovers um by rights

01:19alan will probably be in a jaguar by now uh the small x type is it small he'd probably be in one of those

01:25but that's not funny uh so we thought we'd put him in a lexus a lexus lexus because for some reason

01:31the word lexus uh the word uh i drive a lexus it sounds funnier than i drive a jaguar which is not

01:38quite as funny you'd like to see a clip of the new partridge thing yes come on let's run it let's have a

01:48it's amazing the number of lex i you see around because that's the plural oh yeah

02:38customers so people people who like to have their oil changed the windscreen wipes come into our

02:43garage and one of the uh one of the guys who's coming was bernard manning he used to come in in

02:48a white lincoln continental uh with white plastic seats and white steering wheels all white white

02:54white vinyl roof right and he'd come in and i think probably because he couldn't get himself out

02:59he'd go in the actual window would go down and he'd go fill her up sunshine and watch the paid work

03:04the thing about um partridge he's um made a video which i can hardly wait to see well it's it's one

03:13of those videos where they sort of cobble together a load of car crash stuff and there's a little bit

03:16of alan's delivery in the carcass video that you know i probably owe you some money for because you

03:20inspired it but uh it's where alan sort of says you know the videos these videos of car crashes are

03:25cool things like uh one of the ones he's released is called crash bang wallop what a video

03:29and when it's one of the things where the camera speeds towards his head and goes crash bang wallop

03:36what a video and uh and it's that it's that intonation of say of finishing off a sentence

03:45and going like that at the end of it so actually i've created this monster um i wouldn't i wouldn't give

03:51you that much credit um but uh but you're partially responsible now i have to say my favorite pairing you

03:58ever did man and machine was gareth cheeseman do we all remember cheeseman okay cheeseman top character

04:05um in fact should we just show a clip remind those of you who can't remember the magnificent show

04:43went out now the year before that went out they sold 6 200 yeah shortly after that went out or

04:49immediately after that went out 2400 you killed the ford pro and if anybody's watching tonight from

04:57lexus don't bother going to work in the morning basically you've had it how much of an anorak are

05:04you then to be able to put cheeseman in exactly the right car and partridge unfortunately i'm a lot

05:10i'm a lot of an anorak i mean i went to the motor show this week and i was looking around all these

05:13people with their carrier bags full of brochures thinking god you sad bastards and then i looked

05:18down and i was carrying one and volvos you're particularly good on well i am because my dad

05:24has always had driven volvos his whole life so um i'm sort of quite quite good on detailers okay well

05:29look this is what we've got here is a pile of volvos okay i'm going to pass bits to you and i promise

05:36faithfully we aren't cheating he has not seen these things and we're going to find out if he's

05:41as good as he thinks it is hardest one to start with okay all right okay that's the hubcap off i'm

05:47pretty certain it's off a once the um one two two or later later one you're right with the one i mean

05:56i'm impressed on the one it's one what one one four four it's hubcap from a one four four can you

06:04remember the years the one four four was with the one four four went from i think 69 to about seven

06:09uh about because about 76 when the two series took this is amazing all right then this first of all

06:20do you know what it is it's the interior armrest off a uh two a two series bomber so a two two four

06:26five no no it's earlier again i'm afraid this is off a one four five one four four yeah it's off a one

06:53here on it should be a frame attached to it but the rust there used to be rust spots here and here

06:58no but interestingly the frame i think i'm right in saying was only attached on later models was

07:04welded and it was bolted on this one i believe that to be the case i didn't know that and i'm very

07:10impressed but that part is common to both the one four uh four one four five series and one six oh no

07:19because the handle ah because there was a chrome uh pool door um chrome door handle that stood out

07:28from the door rather than flush like that yeah on the early so it's a it's either a late one four four

07:34four one four five but it could equally be you could fit that to a two four four two four five

07:41but of course you have to bear in mind the two four fours did have the welded door frames

07:45to one two two one four one four four late late one late one okay that's a steering wheel off it could

07:53be off an early 240 series but it's more likely to be off again off your line you're absolutely right

07:59that's a one four four um this is stunning um sounds though door slams and i well i can i i can tell

08:07the difference between not lots of door sounds but um so i mean i i i i'm a fan i know you're not but i am a

08:13fan of the 993 uh porsche carrera and i like the build quality and also interesting fact because the

08:20old porsche is the sort of this the bolts they put together with this long and the 996 the bolts are

08:25this long because that's when the number crunches came in and made them share lots of parts and

08:28cut costs to make things so the bolts are shorter so could we play the sound of a door closing now 996

08:34and diff the sound of a door 993 i could tell the difference okay can we do that can we play that in

08:39okay uh the first one was a 993 the second was a 996 he's right

08:57if there's a very definite click a tight click to the 993 that's what it is is it yeah god almighty i

09:03don't know why we swap seats no because then i'd have to go off and be alan partizan that's a dress

09:07like you i already am now of course you're not just here to identify bits of car or the noises they

09:13make you're here to drive around our track every week as you know we have a star in a reasonably priced

09:19car that's the suzuki liana 9995 pounds with a roll cage in there uh now earlier today you did that

11:14everyone's in a place full of gravel that's basically rallying richard that's what we have to put up with
