00:27what makes it so dangerous is that the signs are subtle and if the blood clot travels to the lungs

00:33then it can be life-threatening tonight on house call we're talking about the subtle signs of a

00:40blood clot and when it's time to seek help immediately a DVT happens when a blood clot

00:46forms in the deep veins of your legs it often happens quietly and especially after long periods

00:54of traveling sitting surgery pregnancy or even dehydration here are the key signs of a DVT

01:04or a blood clot that you should never ignore number one sudden swelling in one leg this swelling is

01:12usually in one calf or thigh not both and it can happen without trauma or injury to the area

01:20number two pain or tenderness in the leg it can feel like a cramp soreness or tightness that worsens

01:29with walking or standing number three warmth in the affected leg your leg that is affected can feel

01:38noticeably warmer than the other leg number four redness or discoloration to the affected leg some

01:46people often note discoloration to the limb that is affected by the DVT and number five visible or swollen

01:55veins your veins may look more prominent or they may be more firm or tender to the touch these symptoms

02:03may seem mild but ignoring them can be dangerous a clot can break off travel to the lungs and lead to

02:19include sudden shortness of breath sharp chest pain a rapid heartbeat and coughing up blood if you see
