Members of the Chinese community in Trinidad and Tobago have rallied to support Jamaica following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.
Volunteers, businesses, and community leaders came together this week to prepare relief supplies for shipment, offering not just assistance, but solidarity.

00:00The Chinese community of Trinidad and Tobago came together on Thursday at the FCMC Group Facility in Trin City, mobilizing relief supplies to support Jamaica's recovery efforts following Hurricane Melissa.
00:11Local Chinese associations, businesses and volunteers under the China Society of Trinidad and Tobago coordinated the initiative, their goal to provide essential food items, water and emergency supplies that will be shipped directly to affected communities.
00:30It's a gesture rooted in unity, compassion and long-standing ties between Caribbean and Chinese communities.
00:38When our Caribbean neighbors are in need, it is our shared responsibility to lend a helping hand.
00:49Today, the Chinese community in Trinidad and Tobago, represented by 60 individuals, has come together to send this full 40-foot container of relief suppliers.
01:04Each box, he says, represents more than donations. It's a message of hope carried from one community to another.

02:20The relief ship mount is expected to head to Jamaica in the coming days, sent with care, compassion and the shared belief that Caribbean communities are strongest when they uplift one another.
