00:50All the fallouts from Saturday night's main event.
00:54You are the only person I've seen in person or in digital land who has said the word Saturday night's main event with a big smile on your face.

01:07I only watched it last night, and I watched it, and I was like, here we go, finally a good Saturday night's main event.
01:13Are you taking the piss?
01:14I had such a good time watching the show, and I went online, and I was like, oh, I guess I'm in the minority.

01:20Look, we are reviewing Saturday night's main event later on today, so I'll keep my thoughts brief, but I've got a lot of thoughts, so stick around for that.
01:32Poor, poor, poor.
01:34Like, there's WWE's PLE standard, and look, this seems to be consensus from WWE fans.
01:40It's not me doing my pissing and moaning bit.
01:43But PLE's, by and large, pretty mediocre, yeah, on PLE for WWE.
01:48Like, you are you.
01:50You're mental.
01:51But if you look at Hamflord, who's actually a discerning WWE fan, I think he would say, yeah, not the best.

02:04And even I had a really good time with the Australian show.

02:14Elsewhere, mediocrity has been the theme on these PLEs.
02:17This was below that for me.
02:19However, however, as mediocre as I found Saturday night's main event to be, they at least made the right call in the main event.
02:30And put it this way, if there was a plan to rematch CM Punk versus Jey Uso, one, I'd quite like to see it for perverse reasons.
02:41Two, I wouldn't, if I'm them, I wouldn't run that back.

02:49Phil, we're going to have you have another match with Jey Uso for the world title.

04:00That being the QB, Cody Rhodes, the new world heavyweight champion, CM Punk, the new, spoiler alert again, SmackDown Women's Champion, Jade Cargill, and the NXT champion, Ricky Sainz.
04:13Just doing some math, calc, and Trey, what a defining image of the year in the current state of everything where wrestlers who were rubbish, bad in various ways, changed promotions.
04:32Promotions, now they're goaded, they're goaded all along, it was just Tony fumbled.

04:39Let's have a look-ski at the data of these professional wrestlers.
04:46How many of them, of the four, percentage-wise, would you say came up in the WWE Performance Center?

05:04So Jade Cargill got retrained in the Performance Center.
05:09Remember when Triple H was like, yeah, she wasn't ready, man.

07:29But it is quite staggering how the theme of this year has been.
07:34Right, throttling AEW, throttling AEW.
07:36Funny, more than anything else, that picture.

07:41I like them to various degrees professionally.
07:43I don't know these people.

07:49It was just totally bizarre.

08:17CM Punk is going to be a good little world champion with the Seth belt.

08:27They've been building in the background this program, this conflict with LA Knight.
08:32He's as good a pre-Road to WrestleMania guy he can feud with.
08:39Because there's a little bit of electricity to their stuff.
08:42It's almost thrillingly awkward, I would describe it.
08:45Where they both kind of want to sit in the same spot.
08:47They're both splitting the audience.
08:49There's a sense of...
08:51I get the impression...
08:53And again, I'm just inferring this.
08:54I do not know these people or what goes on through their minds.
08:58But you get the sense that CM Punk thinks this LA Knight is a bit of a stammering mess.
09:03Who's only as great as he is in his own head.
09:05And he's almost enjoyed sort of like taunting him.
09:12I was going to say toying with him, yeah.
09:13Toying with him on the microphone.
09:14Which says to me that this is the opinion he holds of LA Knight.
09:19LA Knight on occasion has been rattled by it.
09:22So I want to see them go face to face.
09:24Like that little crackle of electricity.
09:26I'd really, really like to see that resume.
09:28And they have been putting the work towards it.
09:30It feels like it's going to be interesting, yeah, going forward.
09:33Because all the people have said immediately after this Punk result.
09:36It's like, right, what happens on Monday now?
09:38Bron Break is obviously in prime position.
09:40Beating LA Knight last week.
09:41And basically he's going to stand there and say, right, well I'm the unofficial number one contender.
09:45So if I'd have been in that battle, Roy, you wouldn't have won it.
09:47Or Jay wouldn't have won it.
09:48And I've already would have beaten you for the world title, for example.
09:51Then obviously potentially you've got the numbers game with Bronson Reed, obviously.
09:54Because that's kind of how the vision works.
09:56So whether LA Knight has to be like, aye, fair enough, I'll help you, CM Punk, but I want a title shot down the road or whatever.
10:04Like I was really intrigued by the result.
10:07We'll talk more about it, like you say, later on in terms of, because I think most of us went in going,
10:13we are either getting a heel Jey Uso world title reign or some sort of schmozzy title win for Jey Uso.
10:21Or no result, you know, Brock Lesnar or The Vision or whatever it might be.
10:27And then it was just like, oh, Punk's won.
10:30Right, but it's November and, you know, I think most of us are fantasy booking Punk and Cody for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
10:39So you've only got, what, five, six months to work that one out.
10:42So I expect something big tonight in terms of the world champion, whether it be, I don't know, Gunther comes back and he's like, yeah, I want a shot of that again.
10:54I want my rematch.
10:56Or Bronson.
10:56They could gobble that up knowing that Gunther is the penciled in last opponent for John Cena and that's a way for him to get his heat come credibility back.
11:06Yeah, with Jey, there was, I want to save what my favourite part of the crowd reaction to Jey Uso was for the review.
11:16But there was certainly some chants indicating that the SNME audience weren't the biggest fans of Jey, despite the big yeeting entrance, obviously.
11:25And he posted a middle finger emoji thing on, I think, Instagram being like, you win post-match with that great shot of him laying on the floor whilst Punk's holding the World Heavyweight title.
11:36They've teased this heel turn for quite some time now.
11:39Roman's been in his ear.
11:40Is that, is it just time to do that now?
11:42If it wasn't, it is now.
11:43But then, look, here's the thing with Jey Uso.
11:46The guy's hopeless.
11:47The guy is useless.
11:48The guy is exhausted or is close to exhausting a lot of the goodwill generated.
11:53I've said this previously on a podcast when this heel turn was starting to get heavily teased.
12:00Whether they were going to, you know, follow through with it, who knows.
12:03But the idea, right, Jey Uso is useless.
12:07It's been one of the biggest looping bits of discourse this year of, like, how useless is too useless?
12:15The Jey Uso debate of, like, WWE, and there's a wisdom to this rubbish wrestling, if that makes any sort of sense, where we talk about it.
12:27Banger fatigue is incredibly real.
12:29It accounts for a lot of AEW's decline in popularity.
12:32So let's, WWE, why don't we go with a hot hand who's a genuine fan favorite, who will botch as the day is long in the middle of that ring.
12:46But increasingly great matches on, like, valuable currency.
12:52So let's sell a load of merch, get a lot of atmosphere in these buildings, sort of keep it simple with the most simplistic guy in the ring, in the world.
13:01Add to the thing of, because we said this at the time when he won the Rumble, like, going into next year's Rumble, we all sense it'll probably be Sammy or Punk.
13:08But that has added some intrigue.
13:10I'll give him that.
13:11I will say, like, 2027 Royal Rumble comes around, and, for example, they decide to finally pull the trigger on Brom Breaker, okay?
13:19And it seems like there's been Rumbles in the past, like, more Rumbles than not, where you all think, and, well, that is the only one winner.
13:25Yeah.
13:25And whenever you think that, 99 times out of 100, it is that winner.
13:30It is Triple H's Rainmaker shock, if you like.
13:36Don't hurt me.
13:37I am not, Pancakes Waffles, comparing Jey Uso to Kazuchika Rokada.
13:41I'm saying the beauty of the Kazuchika Rokada Rainmaker shock at New Beginning 2012 is, like, it was such a seismic, unbelievable booking decision.
13:55So bold, so completely unexpected, that it indirectly informed the drama of virtually every single New Japan big main event thereafter.
14:07Because in the back of your mind, you were thinking, well, you know, well, Akata's on course to replace Tanahashi as the ace.
14:14He's going to beat Badluck Farley.
14:16You're always in the back of your mind thinking, Ghetto's got this in him, to the point where Yota Tsuji had an early title shot, and people were thinking, well, why not?
14:26Yeah.
14:27Ghetto likes to do this.
14:29No, he liked to do this 12 years ago.
14:31You know what I mean?
14:32Yeah, it's just long in the memory.
14:34So I will be watching, so if nothing else, I'll be watching the 2026 and 2027 Royal Rumble thing, and, you know, they booked Jey Uso to win this.
14:43Who the hell knows?
14:43But the thing about Jey Uso specifically is that he is, I think, with the creeping backlash in the arenas now that were anti-Jey chants, anti-Jey sentiment in that building, we have reached the answer to the question, how useless is too useless?
15:02How bad is too bad?
15:04And Jey Uso has, like, sort of exhaustedly crumpled over that line.
15:13He hasn't crossed it.
15:14That would suggest a sense of momentum, a sense of dynamic momentum.
15:18He has flopped over that line, okay?
15:21I'm trying to work out a, he's not your average yeet and potatoes wrestler thing.
15:25Yeah, he's significantly worse.
15:27Yeah, it doesn't work.
15:28To the point now where you cannot tell the story again of Jey Uso relying on the fans and this emotional connection to dust his, dust himself off, rely on the crowd support and win the big one.
15:47I don't think that sentiment exists anymore.
15:50That has kind of evaporated.
15:51Yeet's are saying you're washed.

15:54Yeah, yeah, yeah.

15:56We have established this.
15:59Ergo, now he has to turn heel.
16:06He's doing what he can as a baby face.
16:08Here's the thing about Jey Uso.
16:09A lot of people have fun at his expense.
16:13I think he's abysmal.
16:14But I also recognize, because I try and be impartial, if you can believe it, Yeet isn't just a fun thing to do in the arenas, right?
16:26There were people who watched Jey Uso before Levesque strapped the rocket to him and liked the bloke for his acting performances.
16:38He was very sympathetic to those fans with the Roman gaslighting, evil, overworld storyline.
16:44It wasn't just, oh, Yeet's fun to do.
16:47And he's a pretty cool, funny guy sometimes.
16:49That's given the world title.
16:50There was, at one point, an actual emotional connection between the crowd and Jey Uso.
16:55There really was.
16:56They've flanderized him big time with this Yeet stuff to the point where he's more of a cartoon than ever.
17:03When he said, look, I'm more than just a gimmick, guys.
17:05Your gimmick is literally running back your entries.
17:08Yeah, and you did it in the middle of a match and all the rest of it.
17:10Yes, they did, didn't they?
17:11So they've flanderized Jey Uso, and in the process of making him a caricature of Jey Uso,
17:18people have lost sight of the fact that they liked him because they really did sympathize with him on an actual, rare, emotional level.
17:24That's dead now, okay?
17:26It's dead.
17:28So you can't get that, unless you tell one hell of a story, and who knows,
17:33maybe Bloodline Chapter 8 million is the one, but I don't think so, okay?

17:41So unless they can magic up a story as good as Jey Uso's, or as effective, I don't want to say good,
17:46as effective as Jey Uso's arc between, what, 2020 and 2023?
17:51Mm-hmm.
17:53That ain't happening.
17:54Simply not happening right now.
17:55Not with WWE's creative machine and the wires falling out of it, right?
17:59So I guess what you do is you turn him heel.
18:01This is the flaw.
18:02This is the fatal flaw.
18:05This all worked with Jey Uso this year because the fans realized,
18:10oh, yeah, you know, he ain't no great wrestler bell to bell,
18:14but if we lift him up and make some noise for him and we'll like him, da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
18:19In a weird way, him being quite rubbish at wrestling,
18:22but fighting because the crowds get behind him, powered by the sentiment,
18:26you could suspend your disbelief for that.
18:30You could almost enjoy that if you were that way inclined.
18:33The idea of Jey Uso playing cunning, calculated, methodical heel,
18:40controlling the matches, being savvy enough to cheat at the right times
18:45or being powerful enough or like showing his power and dominance
18:49when he's blown out of his arse.
