00:11news time my name's phil and this is gareth and first up rhea ripley is injured uh it was announced
00:17on smackdown last night wade barrett and joe tessitore tessitore don't know why i didn't like
00:21that but i'll do it it's because of the european tour that's it yeah i'm blaming on that revealed
00:26that rhea ripley is being evaluated for her knee injury we did see her on smackdown last week and
00:31she was kind of wearing that knee brace but they didn't really say much about it then uh they have
00:35said that a return timeline does kind of depend on how she responds to treatment so there's no word
00:41on exactly what it is yet um i'm sure it'll come out at some point soon and we will let
00:46you know
00:46but obviously uh she wrestled jay cargill at clash in italy but then she's also done a couple of live
00:53events on the european loop as well the last wrestling in lisbon portugal in a six woman match
00:59versus fatal influence teaming with um charlotte flower and alexa bliss so yeah it's unfortunate
01:05for rhea ripley hopefully it's something that isn't too serious um and sort of she can either work
01:12through or sort of get something done to it but it's just the way they sort of announced it on
01:17smackdown it feels like it might have been more serious than they initially thought maybe especially
01:21when she was like on smackdown last week maybe they thought they could work around it but now
01:25they need to sort of give her time to heal it but best wishes go out to rhea ripley obviously

01:29never good to hear these things and users hope someone gets well soon so they can get back on tv
01:33um but yeah we'll have to wait and see what this is yeah it does worry you doesn't it when

01:39official announcement route because it is a bit like okay and it's almost like they're saying all
01:43right fans prepare prepare yourselves she could be missing for a while or it could be a red herring
01:48because we've been burned before and it could be a oh this is trouble she's gonna be injured and
01:53then suddenly boom she pops by a cup she's like the knee's fine throw the knee brace off and kick
01:57everyone's ass that could be a possibility as well we've seen it many a time um i just hope she's

02:02because it's just never never nice getting injured um especially when you're like traveling and touring
02:07as well because you imagine if you hurt your knee and you've got to get on loads of flights that's
02:11not a fun time not a fun time so yeah wishing her all the best um but speaking of somebody

02:19could be part of the smackdown roster very soon because obviously we is on smackdown right now

02:31apparently according to dave meltzer of the wrestling observer because he's putting his latest observer
02:36newsletter he's he's just the latest person to jump in really with with more here's what's going on

02:46everything so his his 50p that he's thrown in is um he was saying there's been a lot of talk

02:53like punk rumors this past week um and like saying how it was weird how he said like i'm not

02:58anywhere after mania and then like went somewhere disappeared but then he said we were told he was
03:05being taken off because they had no creative for him and would be back when his angle was to start
03:10whatever angle that was um the plan right now is for him to return on smackdown according to dave
03:15which is basically a balancing act because raw's got loads of stars right now like roman seth the
03:21usos jacob fans loads got loads loads of people um so it makes a lot more sense for him to
03:25be over
03:26on smackdown where maybe they don't have as much star power obviously gunter's gone over there
03:29recently but you've got ripley now might be injured so you kind of need as many big people as you
03:34can
03:34just to just to make smackdown worth watching so that would be yeah that would be the idea um and
03:40then he's also said obviously roads versus punk has been a direction that's been teased it was
03:45teased right after wrestlemania that could be a somerslam match potentially and they didn't know
03:50as well because i think it was mentioned over the last week that the the the roaring chicago like
03:55the first one in july i think it is was one that everyone was saying oh well he could be
04:00returning for
04:00that one it looks like he's going to be returning for that he said but that could still be the
04:03case even
04:03though it's not a smackdown but it's not really that big a deal he could just turn up on that
04:07wrong or hey guys i'm going to smackdown they'll be like oh okay like that that that could happen
04:11as well so it's looking like yeah punk is is blue bound that's that's the direction seemingly
04:18yeah i think this makes the most amount of sense like you say smackdown needs something to make it
04:23worth watching um uh and cm punk would be a hell of a shot in the arm to smackdown in
04:29general and like
04:30even if he doesn't fall straight into him versus cody which they're definitely gonna do at some
04:34point whether they're gonna save it for a wrestlemania or maybe it could very feasibly
04:39be a somersand main event but like even if you don't go straight into that there's obviously
04:43uh sammy zayn that's kind of buzzing around the smackdown scene had a sort of recent
04:49ish heel turn something between him and cm punk would be really really really good
04:53like especially this sort of version of sammy zayn against cm punk but it's just odd that
04:59he's been off tv because creative has nothing for him surely he's the easiest guy for creative in
05:04the world you just put him against someone and he says stuff and then it's interesting
05:09it's like is it that hard to write a cm punk angle is it really it's seemingly so
05:16seemingly so over the last couple of months yes um so yeah we'll see about that but yeah it's
05:21i feel like smackdown needs him my uh so i think it'd be a good move uh but speaking of
05:28cm punk uh
05:29and probably not good moves uh jack perry has been taking shots at him because of course he has
05:35obviously all of this rumors around cm punk have been circling for a while and lois sort of talks
05:42about like was he leaving wwe and like then it starts sparks up rumors and speculation about a return to
05:48aw and as part of all of it obviously that's kind of been squashed now it's like he's going back
05:53to
05:53wwe but fightful had a report where they'd asked a bunch of people in aw about the relationship there
05:59with cm punk or black thereof potentially and lots of people said that there is a belief that the
06:05relationship could be mended with a very sort of wrestling never say never kind of approach
06:11uh but there is one specific person that might not have that mindset judging by what he posted
06:18on instagram and that is jack perry who put on a sorry that's not so subtle it's just a picture
06:24of a monkey burning down a bridge so i don't think jack perry is ready to mend those fences just
06:33yet
06:34but oh cry me a river when i say that i love all this little petty stuff it's great
06:43it's just really funny it was very fanciful wasn't it when that that report dropped the other day i was
06:50like oh you never know it's like yeah a little bit nowhere that's wrestling like right you can say
06:55that about everything but yeah i'd be pretty confident over the next like a couple of years
07:00at least that that is not going to happen unless i'm barring something insane happening in wwe and
07:05look he went back to wwe that's the biggest fence mending you could ever possibly imagine like
07:11no matter what happened in aw tony khan's still a businessman he like and a way of making it work
07:17to get pumped back because he knows he'd make loads of money this is true it's probably more the talent
07:22that's the issue rather than the sort of management side of things this is true and i'll just ask our

08:16for me and i just lost all my stock in a record amount of time there very well played sir

08:23so kato abushi um he yeah bad injury bad injury uh broke his femur i believe it was on collision
08:29uh last year and he's had some bad injuries over the last couple years abushi and there's been
08:35periods where he's like come back and looked a bit shaky and then he's come back and all right
08:40looking a bit better again and then then this happens so it's obviously a topic that a lot of
08:45people are wondering about right now um in the observer uh melter mentioned something about i think
08:51he's looking to potentially set up a new building um in tokyo because the the shinjuku shinjuku face
08:59probably got that completely wrong um arena um is set to like close in september so he's been looking
09:05to maybe get like another venue um trying to build and open a new wrestling arena in tokyo and all
09:11the
09:11things that go with that um but then with that um when he obviously first talks about it abushi a
09:16couple
09:16of weeks ago there are people thinking like oh does that mean he's turning his attention to that now and
09:20he's not going to be wrestling but from what melter understands uh he's not giving up on the hope for
09:25a return but yeah it's not gonna be anytime soon uh he did say in january he said they'd be
09:30back by
09:30the end of the year like he wanted to but melter said that seems a bit premature this is abushi
09:35we're
09:35talking about though so you know you want to talk about never say nevers this guy just does not know
09:41when to stop um but yeah he's still looking at returning those close to him saying that they believe
09:46he has every intention of trying to return but he actually worries about his balance his lateral
09:52movement change of direction all that kind of stuff um he's worried that all that might not come back
09:58so he's not giving up on that comeback but like he did want to temper expectations that like it's not
10:05going to be anytime soon if he does so i hope this is getting wiser with age and he's sitting

10:12going i need to kind of take my time now and just look after my body if i'm gonna let
10:17it properly
10:17recover and he's not rushing it because leg breaks femur breaks are no like little thing you need
10:24some proper recovery there proper rehab so i just hope he does the smart thing and doesn't rush
10:30because aw is going to be there regardless like they're down the road so there's no need just to get
10:36back in a hurry for a wembley show or something there'll be other stadium shows and all the rest of

10:40like down the road so just focus on looking after yourself abushi we don't we don't want to see
10:44yeah i don't want to see any more abushi injuries i've had enough i don't want to see any more
10:48yeah absolutely he is one who hasn't exactly been kind on his body through his wrestling style
10:56um and the yeah the worry is that if a guy like that pushes back then you're just gonna do
11:01more damage i assume he's old enough and wise enough to maybe make some changes in how he wrestles or
11:07whatever when he does come back to sort of work around it and things but yeah it's another one
11:12where you just don't want someone to to rush back and make anything worse just everybody to be happy
11:17and healthy um and yeah have a nice long career rather than like here for a long time not a
11:23not a
11:24fast i don't know what the saying is you know the one that's exactly it that's exactly i've seen it
