00:00So some quick housekeeping before we do get into AEW Dynamite today.
00:03One, I am sorry ups and downs is so late.
00:04Somebody may have got stuck in Wales, that would have been me.
00:07And two, yes, look how ridiculous this edit is.
00:09But due to the late arrival, I'm just going to have to get it done as quick as I can.
00:13But I do apologise.
00:14But listen, we are a couple of weeks away from the Forbidden Door,
00:17which means AEW did have to confirm some matches.
00:20One of them is probably going to be Tommaso Ciampa versus Chris Jericho.
00:23Now known as just Jericho, he lost his name.
00:25Let's up those downs.
00:26But yes, basically much like Tommaso Ciampa has been doing,
00:29and he said, oh, hi, Tony Schiavone.
00:31You should tell me that I am better than Jericho.
00:33It's quite clear I have confidence issues.
00:35But now it came Jericho and said, my name is Jericho and I'm better than you, Tommy.
00:40Everyone started to chant Tommy because of course his name is Tommaso.
00:43And then Tommy was like, not even my mother calls me Tommy.
00:45And then we got more Tommy.
00:47Sound good?
00:48Okay.
00:48Eventually Jericho got serious though because he was like,
00:50oh man, don't you get in my face.
00:52And while we haven't actually prepped anything here
00:54or kind of signed off on the match, at least I don't think so,
00:57I'd imagine we are going to do it at Forbidden Door.
00:59And here's the deal.
00:59Here's how I feel about it.
01:01Everything up to this point, I was quite enjoying.
01:03And I want to see Jericho versus Tommaso Ciampa
01:05because they're in my wildest dreams.
01:07And I think that I would see that outside of WWE.
01:09But I think this is one of those occasions where you take a baseball bat
01:12and you go for the swing
01:13and you just don't land it in the way that you intended,
01:16or at least not for me.
01:17Now that doesn't mean since Jericho came back,
01:18he hasn't been doing very, very good work.
01:20And I think Tommaso Ciampa's jump to AEW was an inspired choice,
01:23but I am going to give it a down.
01:25Again, nothing terrible here,
01:26but they tried some jokes and for whatever reason,
01:28the jokes didn't land with me.
01:30What can you do?
01:31There are 52 weeks of television every single year.
01:33You cannot expect to go,
01:35I'm going to like or hate everything.
01:37If you are doing that, you're probably grifting.
01:39But again, I'm sure they'll come up with something next week
01:41to carry on from this.
01:42And then we do get to the pay-per-view.
01:44I just can't see a world where Jericho and Ciampa
01:46isn't a good match.
01:47But I do think Tommaso Ciampa should win.
01:50And we probably shouldn't copy what we did do with Ricochet
01:52because, you know, you want to keep things different.
01:54So that makes it intriguing.
01:55I am going to give it a down.
01:57Didn't work for me.
01:57When we come to one of our first segments
01:59with the Don Callis family,
02:00and basically I sum up for you as best as I can,
02:03Kevin Knight is super happy to be a part of the group.
02:05And Andrade is not happy that Kevin Knight
02:07is super happy to be part of the group
02:08because Andrade wants a world title shot,
02:10but he can just tell that Don Callis
02:12is favoring his brand new toy.
02:14And maybe Mr. Dranquillo is going to get screwed over,
02:17but that would be fine.
02:18Because the Don Callis family basically works like one in
02:21and one out.
02:21Andrade quite clearly don't want to be there anyway.
02:23So it wouldn't surprise me if Postman and Dor
02:25we do an Andrade versus Kevin Knight.
02:27Well, we've got Jon Moxley versus Shane Taylor.
02:29And man, did I enjoy this fight.
02:32Mostly because I just really like Shane Taylor.
02:34And best is Jon Moxley.
02:35He sold his ass off for this guy.
02:37But that's the only one he should have done
02:38because Shane Taylor is an absolute beast of a man.
02:41And even though Moxley doesn't come across like a psychopath,
02:43sometimes I think you just need to take somebody's size
02:46and say you're going to squish him.
02:47So squish him he did.
02:48They've been doing a lot of other AEW related shows as well
02:51like Collision and they're always down in Ring of Honor too.
02:53And they do have a story going on here,
02:55which we did tie in.
02:56I understand this sort of was built off the back
02:58of what did happen last week,
02:59but also reminded me there is such a massive cast
03:02of characters in AEW that I would like to see more of.
03:05One of which is Shane Taylor and his promotional group.
03:08I guess we can call it that.
03:10Although he is the leader of said promotional group
03:12and he won't have lost.
03:13Because basically at the very last second
03:15when it looked like he was doomed,
03:16Moxley was able to get the stomp,
03:17he choked out Shane Taylor.
03:19Because as always, it doesn't matter how big you are,
03:21if your brain loses oxygen,
03:22you're probably going to die.
03:23There's no probably about it.
03:24You definitely will.
03:26And afterwards, not only did the Death Riders come to the ring,
03:28but so did Shane Taylor Promotions.
03:30And given that Shane Taylor Promotions,
03:31or the STP started this,
03:33well, they chased off the Death Riders.
03:35So they're definitely babyfaces now.
03:37Even more so, because this was Moxley's hometown.
03:40And even though he stood tall in the match,
03:42in terms of the aftermath, he got pumped.
03:44And yes, like I say as well,
03:45even though they were standing tall,
03:47Lee Moriarty didn't really get involved in this beatdown.
03:49Because the story has been down on Collision or Ring of Honor,
03:52one of the two, I can't remember now.
03:54It's all merged into one in my brain
03:55that maybe he's not long for this world.
03:57That means he's going to die.
03:58It means he's going to leave STP rather soon.
04:02But you can probably use this to tie it in.
04:04I just like Shane Taylor.
04:05I enjoyed this.
04:06It felt different.
04:07Give it an up.
04:08I think it was a big old video for Mercedes Benet,
04:09who said,
04:10I am going to win the Owen Hart Cup tournament
04:13and get my championship back.
04:14Actually, no, she's never won the world championship.
04:16You know what I'm talking about here,
04:18but she probably will be on that trajectory.
04:20And arguably, she probably should win it at all in.
04:22Well, yes, it was back to the Don Callis family.
04:25Because Dona Fern was all like,
04:26oh my gosh, I love you, Kevin Knight.
04:28And Kevin Knight came up going,
04:28oh my gosh, I'm so great right now.
04:30And in fact, I'm so damn good.
04:32Everybody in the back should be respecting me,
04:34even though they are a bunch of goobers.
04:36And therefore, MJF, you know why I did turn heel.
04:39I want my world title shot.
04:40So maybe you should come to the ring.
04:42No, he didn't get this,
04:43although they would fall out later on.
04:44Because instead, Darby Allin made his big return
04:46to AEW Dynamite,
04:48which makes all the sense in the world.
04:49Because if we go back to the last pay-per-view,
04:51what happened after he did lose his championship,
04:53he got mugged off by Kevin Knight.
04:56It means the Don Callis family chased Darby away.
04:58And Allin did do the right thing.
04:59Because there's around about 47,622 members of that family.
05:03So what are you going to do?
05:04But I would imagine at the pay-per-view,
05:06we do Kevin Knight versus Darby Allin,
05:08because again, Darby does need his revenge.
05:11And maybe they can even feud over the TNT title,
05:13which is fine.
05:14Now, I think Darby is the world champion.
05:16Part two should probably happen,
05:17I guess, in 2027.
05:19But until then,
05:20just keep him at least at sort of the tippity-top
05:23of the midcard,
05:23or whatever you want to call it.
05:25I'm just going to give it an up.
05:26It was nice, simple, smart wrestling book.
05:28And when we got Pac versus Mark Briscoe,
05:30and this may be wrong,
05:31but I don't think they've ever had a singles match before.
05:33Or if they have,
05:34I do not remember it.
05:35Which also makes me think
05:36they have not had a singles match before,
05:38because this was so damn good.
05:40So if they did do a round one,
05:41I probably would be waxing lyrical about it.
05:43You really should find some time to watch it today,
05:45because again,
05:46they come from two completely different schools of thought
05:48when it comes to wrestling,
05:49but their styles just merged together wonderfully well.
05:52And if it wasn't for Pac,
05:53missing that shooting star press,
05:55who the hell knows what the deal would be.
05:56But otherwise,
05:57Mark Briscoe grounded me,
05:58gave him the Dre Jilla.
05:59I started to applaud.

06:01I have such a good time.
06:03They're very good professional wrestlers.
06:04Now Mark Briscoe was so pumped up after this.

06:13So Maxwell did listen to him.

06:25He also talked about the fact he has a bunch of money
06:26and there's power in cash.
06:28But of all the people,
06:29Lee Johnson,
06:29Jay Lethal,
06:30and Blake Christian jumped Mark Briscoe.
06:32I was like,
06:33not in a million years,
06:34I think those three would take MJF's money.
06:37But hey,
06:37it did mean out came the conglomeration.
06:39Everybody had a fight
06:40when Mark Briscoe got his hands back on the microphone
06:43and did he have an idea?
06:44Because given the food window is around the corner,
06:46maybe MJF should go find five guys
06:47and Mark Briscoe could go find five guys.
06:49I don't think he meant the burger store.
06:51And we shall do it in a steel cage.
06:53And hey,
06:54just to sweeten the deal,
06:55if I win Marcus Briscoe,
06:56I get a world title shot.
06:59So there's two schools of thoughts here.
07:00Maybe MJF is still a little bit injured after last week
07:02and his match with Roosh.
07:04Or I really hope it's this one
07:05because I love this.
07:07Maxwell Jacob Freeman saying to Mark Briscoe,
07:09what exactly have you done
07:10to deserve a world championship match?
07:12You can't focus on our view from 2025.

07:16which kind of ties into this promo
07:17because they kept talking about ships.
07:19There has to be something where you go,

07:20now he has got no choice.
07:22So even though it's kind of crazy
07:23that at the Forbidden Door,
07:24we are not going to have
07:24an AEW World Championship match,
07:26I actually think this does make more sense.
07:28If it is the caveat
07:29that MJF's knee is bothering him
07:31and he does need some down time,
07:33well,
07:33he's still on the show,
07:34but I actually think
07:35this serves the story better.
07:36So I am going to give it an up.
07:37Again,
07:37the match itself was so damn good.
07:39And I think it means
07:41when we finally do get to MJF
07:42versus Mark Briscoe,
07:43it will make sense.
07:44And also,
07:45Mark Briscoe did just beat Pac.
07:47So he is doing a roosh.
07:48He's getting a bunch of wins.
07:49I enjoyed all of this.
07:50I thought it was very well thought out.
07:52And it was the same
07:53for Andrade versus Orange Cassidy.
07:55I mean,
07:55given that Andrade came out
07:56at the end of this,
07:57he looked at MJF's world title
07:58because that is coming down the line.
08:00But otherwise,
08:01what an absolute joy this was.
08:03And it was goofy wrestling for life.
08:05At one point,
08:06after Andrade ripped his pants off,
08:08Orange ripped off his jeans.
08:09And underneath,
08:10he had more jeans.
08:11Do you remember when Sting
08:12took off the Sting mask
08:13and then he was still Sting?
08:14Well,
08:14Orange Cassidy did the same thing here.
08:16So it was a modern day interpretation
08:18and it made me laugh out loud
08:19because secretly,
08:20Orange Cassidy is the best wrestler
08:22in the world.
08:22There's also a great bit
08:23with Leo Rush as well
08:24when Andrade was trying to take
08:25his usual social media picture.
08:27And what is it that he says?
08:28Like,

08:29fine.
08:29I think it's the best character
08:31that AEW's come up with
08:33with a while.
08:33I guess Leo Rush came up with it.
08:35It just makes me laugh
08:36and ultimately,

08:37didn't really tie into the finish.

08:39for the orange punch.
08:40Instead,
08:40he got elbowed in the face.

08:42and now he can be like,

08:47to Kevin Knight,

08:52that he had beaten Mark Davis last week.

09:00to their best buddies.

09:01and I quite like this,

09:03he's now going on to the finals,
09:04but Alex Windsor walked in.
09:06She got eliminated
09:07from the women's one last week.
09:08She didn't bitch and moan
09:10or cut promo.
09:11She just cried
09:12in her husband's arms.
09:13And I was like,
09:14that is the realest thing
09:15that has ever happened
09:16on a wrestling show.
09:17Sometimes things do go bad
09:19in your life.
09:19You don't go,
09:20oh my gosh,
09:21I'm going to get revenge.
09:22You sit down
09:23and you have some ice cream.
09:24I would do more of this.
09:26We also had a quick
09:26Tecna promo
09:27where she said,
09:27I shall kill stardom.
09:29And listen,
09:29come the Forbidden Door
09:30in a couple of weeks,
09:31you just know that AEW
09:32is going to have a good match.

09:51I just think it would mean more.

09:53I like Tecna
09:53as the world champion.
09:54I think she has done great

10:02versus My World.
10:03And man,
10:04sometimes we don't even need
10:05to talk about wrestling.
10:06Wrestling is the most important
10:07of the least important things.
10:08Because if you haven't been
10:09in the news cycle recently,
10:10you know that My World's
10:11brother passed away.
10:12So just all the positivity,
10:14health, happiness,
10:15and love to her family.
10:16But here,
10:17she did get the surprise win
10:18with the most devastating move.
10:19In all of sports entertainment,
10:21the surprise roll up.
10:22And man,
10:22I just thought this was wonderful
10:24because she's not going
10:25to win the tournament.
10:26But sometimes,
10:27this is what sports entertainment
10:28should do.

12:24semi-final,
12:25Brodie King versus
12:26Swerve Strickland.
12:27And man,
12:28I don't think these two
12:28are capable of having
12:29a bad match
12:30because they just
12:30absolutely murdered each other.
12:32And there was one point
12:33when the turnbuckle
12:34was exposed,
12:35which is happening
12:35a lot in wrestling recently
12:37across all the companies.
12:38And of course,
12:39Brodie went into it
12:40and he was bleeding
12:41like crazy.
12:42So towards the end,
12:43when he came back
12:43with all his death power moves,
12:45he looked like
12:45an absolute psychopath.
12:47So again,
12:47this big old Brodie King
12:49is pretty flipping good.
12:50And we all know
12:51Swerve is great too.
12:52They should probably
12:53feud forever.
12:54Not forever,
12:54eventually I would get bored
12:55and then I'd die.
12:57We got to make sure
12:57we protected Brodie King
12:58as well
12:58because at one point
12:59Swerve tried to push him
13:00into referee Aubrey Edwards.
13:02That made her go,
13:03oh no,
13:03I'm spinning around
13:04like a tea cozy,
13:06which is Prince Nana.
13:07I think he had the ring bell
13:09and he snacked Brodie King
13:10and flipping of all the moves
13:12that Swerve decided to do,
13:13he hit the vertebrae
13:15up to Brodie
13:15and he beat him
13:16more than one,
13:17two,
13:17three.
13:18So one,
13:18I was like,
13:18well,
13:18yeah,
13:19I mean,
13:19if you're going to take him out,
13:20that's the way to do it.
13:21But also two,
13:21it means the finals,
13:23I think go down
13:23at Forbidden Door,
13:24is Swerve Strickland
13:25versus Will Ospreay.
13:27Of course,
13:27Will Ospreay is going to win,
13:29but that match,
13:30my friends,
13:30is going to be
13:30absolutely superb
13:31and we should probably
13:33use Swerve's loss
13:34to take him somewhere else.
13:35I'm giving it an up.
13:37It was a pretty great
13:38main event.
13:38I'm sure the crowd this week
13:39wasn't very good,
13:40they were quite quiet,
13:41but as I've always said,
13:42if you've paid your hard-earned money
13:43and you want to sit on your hands,
13:44you can do whatever the flub you want,
13:46but I do want to point out
13:47it probably would have made
13:48the show more fun,
13:49but I am still giving it up.
13:50I thought it was a good episode
13:51of AEW Dynamite
13:52and as always,
13:53when it comes to the matches,
13:54at the very least,
13:55they're super duper solid.
