00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:05Today, we're all about the new Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid in the XLT Trim Level,
00:09which is painted in the subtle color Velocity Blue Metallic.
00:15This model is a breath of fresh air in the pickup segment and,
00:18for the first time in the history of this popular commercial vehicle,
00:21combines a powerful gasoline engine with a modern electric motor.
00:24With this, Ford is offering a hybrid solution that not only focuses on versatility and everyday usability,
00:31but also on sustainability and efficiency.
00:36The new Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid is a prime example of how traditional work can be combined with future-oriented technology.
00:45With an all-electric range of up to 43 kilometers, the Plug-In Hybrid enables locally emission-free driving.
00:51Ideal for customers who frequently travel short distances.
00:57According to Ford, this range is sufficient for more than half of Ranger owners in everyday life.
01:03The hybrid drive consists of a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo-gasoline engine,
01:08a 75 kilowatts electric motor and a battery with a net capacity of around 12 kilowatt-hours.
01:14The battery is supplied with energy either via the power grid, the combustion engine or through regenerative braking.
01:23The battery can be charged in under 4 hours using a 230-volt charger.
01:29A real highlight is the modular hybrid transmission,
01:32in which the electric motor is integrated directly into the transmission bell housing of the automatic transmission.
01:37An electronically controlled clutch system adjusts the power transmission between the petrol engine and the electric motor depending on the driving mode.
01:46The driving modes Auto EV, EV Now, EV Later and EV Charge offer the driver the opportunity to decide specifically how and when the electrical energy is used.
01:55The driver benefits from seamless transitions between the drive types, increased driving comfort and improved running smoothness.
02:05This is also thanks to the standard dual-zone air conditioning, which can be operated independently of the combustion engine.
02:13Active noise cancelling technology also ensures a pleasantly quiet background noise.
02:18With a system output of 281 horsepower and a maximum torque of 69.97 Nm,
02:25the Ranger plug-in hybrid even outperforms the previously most powerful 3.0 LV6 turbodiesel in the model series.
02:34This torque is particularly noticeable when towing trailers and driving off-road.
02:40The i4 all-wheel drive system automatically distributes the torque to all four wheels as required.
02:45This is supported by a transfer case with low gear and a limited slip differential on the rear axle.
02:53This allows the Ranger to master challenging sections such as steep inclines or rocky terrain with ease.
03:00Eight driving modes, including normal, eco, sport, slippery, towing, transport, mud, tracks and sand,
03:08allow for optimum adaptation to a wide range of driving situations.
03:12However, the plug-in hybrid not only scores points with its technology,
03:16it also remains true to its original functionality as a robust workhorse.
03:21With a payload of up to one ton and a maximum towing capacity of three and a half tons,
03:26it meets the requirements of the majority of its users.
03:31To accommodate the traction battery,
03:34Ford developed special rear frame rails without compromising the loading area.
03:37Despite the hybrid drive,
03:42the chassis tuning ensures safe and comfortable handling,
03:45whether on-road or off-road.
03:48Prior to developing the new model generation,
03:51Ford surveyed more than 5,000 customers.
03:54The results of this survey are reflected in the equipment variants offered.
03:58While the WildTrack variant focuses on comfort features,
04:03the XLT version focuses more on utility value.
04:08Perfect for customers who want to use the Ranger for both business and private use.
04:14Both versions have a crew cab with five seats and a robust loading area
04:18that even offers space for Euro palette.
04:20An easy lift tailgate and loading area lighting make everyday use easier.
04:28The interior of the Ranger plug-in hybrid XLT impresses with modern technology.
04:35The Ford Synker communications and entertainment system offers,
04:39among other things,
04:40a 12-inch vertical touch display,
04:42an 8-inch digital instrument cluster
04:44and an inductive charging function for smartphones.
04:46Driver assistance systems such as pre-collision assist,
04:52lane-keeping assist and a reversing camera are standard features.
04:58The Ranger is also optimally prepared for use as a towing vehicle,
05:02for example with the innovative trailer reversing assistant,
05:04which makes it child's play to maneuver the trailer
05:06using the central display and a rotary control on the steering wheel.
05:11For customers with special requirements,
05:14an extensive range of accessories is available via the Ford dealer network.
05:19From bike racks and roof tents to load compartment linings and covers,
05:23the Ranger plug-in hybrid can be individually adapted.
05:28Whether you're a beekeeper, a firefighter or an outdoor adventurer,
05:32there's a tailor-made solution for almost every application.
05:36Ford also offers its customers a comprehensive range of products for the long term.
05:40Intuitive software solutions,
05:43flexible financing models and intelligent charging services
05:46make using the Ranger plug-in hybrid easier,
05:48more efficient and more cost-effective.
05:53With a market share of over 40%,
05:55the Ranger model series will remain the clear market leader
05:58among pickups in Europe in 2024.
06:01In 10 European countries,
06:03including Austria with a market share of 36%,
06:06the Ranger was the best-selling model in its segment last year.
06:09The new plug-in hybrid Ranger is produced in Silverton, South Africa.
06:16The first vehicles are already on their way to customers.
06:22More than half a million Rangers have been sold in Europe since 2012.
06:27Proof of the enduring popularity and trust in this versatile vehicle.
