00:00Welcome to the latest video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog, where we introduce you to the brand
00:11new Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid for the 2025 model year. Ford celebrated the world premiere of this
00:19powerful pickup at the Air Commercial Vehicles Trade Fair in Hanover, which is set to make
00:24Europe's best-selling pickup more future-proof and offers an attractive alternative to the
00:28conventional diesel engine. The new Ranger Plug-in Hybrid not only impresses with its impressive
00:36electric driving style, but also sets new standards within the Ranger series in terms of torque and power.
00:43Just like its diesel counterparts, the Ford Ranger PHFI is produced at the Silverton plant in South
00:48Africa. It is powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine with four cylinders,
00:56which shares the drive work with an electric motor that delivers a maximum output of 75 kilowatts.
01:03Combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the system achieves an impressive output of 205
01:08kilowatts or 279 horsepower. This significantly surpasses the previous most powerful Ranger engine,
01:16the 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 240 horsepower. The maximum system torque of 690 new makes the Ranger PHF
01:26the most powerful model in the series. The electric motor is cleverly integrated between the crankshaft
01:32and transmission, so that the regular mechanical all-wheel drive of the combustion engine versions can
01:37still be used. The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid comes with all-wheel drive as standard, which is particularly
01:45interesting for users who often travel with heavy loads or trailers. The towing capacity is 3.5 tons,
01:53while the payload is up to 1 ton despite the additional battery weight. The traction battery
02:00is located below the loading area between the frame carriers, which hardly affects the off-road
02:05capability and at the same time improves the weight distribution when the loading area is empty.
02:09This has a positive effect on the handling. The Ranger PFO is equipped as standard with heavy-duty
02:18rear axle suspension, which provides additional stability. The battery of the Plug-in Hybrid has a
02:25net capacity of 11.8 kWh, which enables a purely electric range of 50 kilometers. Another highlight is
02:34the power onboard system. The traction battery can be used as a power source for 230-volt devices via
02:41sockets in the loading platform wall and the interior. This allows power tools, leisure equipment
02:48or even a coffee machine and cool box to be operated on the road. Various selectable programs are available
02:55for driving. In hybrid mode, both drives can be used together or the electric motor can be selected
03:02as the sole drive. It is also possible to save the current battery level for later electric journeys.
03:10If the traction battery is empty, the petrol engine can be boosted in order to drive purely electrically
03:15in urban areas later on. The Ford Ranger will start as a plug-in hybrid in the XLT version from €5,381,
03:23while the Wildtrack variant is priced at €622,525. This makes the PV around €2,100 cheaper than the V6
03:33diesel in the Wildtrack variant. A Stormtrack Special Series will also be launched exclusively for the Ranger
03:40perv from €69,800, featuring Matrix LED, special wheels, a high-quality sound system and the exclusive
03:48chill grey color. With the announced plug-in hybrid for the Ranger, Ford wants to make Europe's best-selling
03:55pickup fit for the future beyond diesel engines. The focus is particularly on customers who frequently
04:03drive in urban areas, as well as tradespeople and hobby campers, who can use the Ford Power Onboard
04:08system as an interesting option for powering themselves on the road. Although the PV is priced in the same
04:17range as the V6 models, its innovative technology and versatile application options make it an excellent
04:22value for money. Was the information about the Ford Ranger plug-in hybrid informative? Then please subscribe!
