00:00The Dolphins have just fired GM Chris Greer.
00:03You've been calling for it.
00:04I didn't mean to cut you off.
00:05We got breaking news.
00:06Chris Greer, Miami Dolphins' long-time GM somehow, out.
00:11Well, that means that Mike McDaniels is going to survive it.
00:13That's what it means.
00:14Because if you didn't fire them both right now,
00:16that means that Mike McDaniels is not getting fired this year.
00:19And Stephen Ross, for the first time,
00:21and it feels like Greer's been there 15 years, maybe longer.
00:24Right, a long time.
00:25That he's finally willing to accept the fact
00:27that you have, not even arguably, the least successful,
00:31biggest failure in the history of the sport at general manager.
00:35And let me be clear about this.
00:36The Miami Dolphins have not won a playoff game this century.
00:40And Chris Greer has been the general manager
00:44for the majority of this century for the Miami Dolphins.
00:49So what the Dolphins are now saying to you
00:53is that we finally are willing to come to terms with the fact
00:57that we don't have the right general manager.
00:59We might have the right coach.
01:02That's debatable.
01:03He had two good years.
01:04He's now had two bad years, right?
01:06Right.
01:06But we recognize, finally, that we've got to find somebody else
01:10to go decide who's going to be on this roster.
01:12Now, remember, Mike Tannenbaum was the guy, right?
01:16Remember, he was a consultant.
01:17Yes.
01:18And then got the job.
01:19I think he was president,
01:20and he co-shared responsibilities with Chris Greer.
01:24So I'm not sure who made the final decision there.
01:26I'd have to check in with my Dolphin people and find out.
01:29But this is a good day for Miami Dolphins fans.
01:32It is.
01:32If you're a long-suffering Dolphins fan,
01:34one of the gripes you have all had universally
01:37that no one has ever been able to argue against
01:40is the fact that Chris Greer is a lousy general manager
01:43and has never built a team worthy of making a run to a Super Bowl.
01:48Never.
01:48Either the defense has stunk,
01:50we didn't have a running back,
01:51and now we have a quarterback there
01:54we gave a quarter of a billion dollars to
01:56who may not be able to play that well.
01:58Right.
01:58Right?
01:59So I can't read that,
02:00but what does that say on the screen?
02:01It's about just that they're mutually agreed
02:04to part ways.
02:05In other words,
02:06we're going to fire you.
02:09Do you want to maintain some self-respect
02:11and make it a mutual decision?
02:13Right.
02:13Because one employee goes,
02:15hey, you know what?
02:16I think you should fire me.
02:18I'm not getting the job done.
02:19I want to do what's best for the organization.
02:21That's not how it works.
02:23The owner comes to you and says,
02:24look, I love you.
02:26I appreciate you.
02:27It clearly just hasn't worked out.
02:29So here's what we're going to do.
02:31We're going to fire you,
02:32but we're going to give you a chance to save some face
02:34and decide it was mutual
02:36and you're willing to step down
02:38for the betterment of the Miami Dolphin franchise.
02:41Right?
02:41You're a team dog.
02:42He got fired.
02:43Yeah.
02:43And by the way,
02:44he should have been fired 10 years ago.
02:46He should have been fired five years ago.
02:48He should have been fired
02:49during the Brian Flores nonsense
02:51when all that stuff went down
02:53about who the quarterback was going to be
02:55and Brian Flores' treatment of Tua
02:57because he didn't respect them as a QB.
02:59Today's a great day for the Miami Dolphins.
03:02They're finally going to get a good GM in there
03:03and that means they're going to start winning some games.
