00:00welcome to the video from the car magazine tuning blog today we're talking about the
00:10new volkswagen terra the affordable suv that was developed specifically for the south american
00:15market the presentation took place during the carnival in rio de janeiro and the design was
00:22entirely the work of the south american volkswagen team led by jose carlos pavoni
00:26in terms of its dimensions the terra is similar to the european t-cross but will be priced lower
00:33it is set to compete with rivals such as the fiat poles and the nissan kicks and will cost
00:40between 16 000 euros and 23 000 euros
00:43the model will be produced in taubet brazil and is based on the mqba zero platform which is also used
00:51for the polo and the tcos volkswagen has not yet officially confirmed the technical specifications
00:59but there are strong indications that the terra will have the same wheelbase of 2.6 meters and a
01:04length of just over 4 meters visually the suv relies on modern led lights with the daytime running lights
01:13divided into two segments above the headlights there is no illuminated radiator grill instead
01:19there is a chrome strip presumably for cost reasons the large honeycomb opening in the front bumper and
01:26the striking side air intakes are striking there are no fog lights
01:33at the rear there is a striking crease that connects the door and tail lights while the lights are
01:38connected by a black bar with silver accents similar to the nivis t-cross and t-guan
01:43depending on the equipment the terra is available with different wheel variants
01:50some of the models shown had diamond cut 17 inch rims with a sporty design but simpler versions with
01:56steel rims and hubcaps were also spotted inside volkswagen mixes familiar polo elements with modern
02:03influences from the id electro series the infotainment screen has been positioned higher however the
02:10the dashboard deliberately retains its analog design there is a digital cockpit as well as the vw play connect
02:17system which enables complete connectivity via app there is also an inductive charging station for
02:24smartphones and ambient lighting in the center console volkswagen is still keeping quiet about the
02:31engine but it is considered very likely that the terra will be equipped with the familiar 1.0 l3
02:36cylinder turbo petrol engine 170 tsi from the polo this produces 116 horsepower and offers a torque of
02:44165 newton m as is usual in brazil the engine should also be suitable for operation with ethanol
02:53a six-speed automatic transmission is planned as the transmission
02:58the market launch in brazil is planned for may 2025. however the terra will not be coming to europe
