Der VW Jetta VS8 ist da – allerdings nur für den chinesischen Markt. Das Mittelklasse-SUV wird von der eigenständigen Jetta-Marke unter dem FAW-Volkswagen-Joint-Venture produziert und bringt frischen Wind ins Segment. Mit einer Länge von 4,6 m, einer Breite von 1,9 m und einem Radstand von 2,6 m bietet er ordentliche Platzverhältnisse und moderne Technik.
Optisch setzt der VS8 auf klare Linien, eine durchgehende LED-Lichtleiste vorne und hinten sowie einen auffälligen Kühlergrill. Angetrieben wird das SUV von einem 1,4-Liter-Turbobenziner mit etwa 150 PS und 250 Nm, gekoppelt an eine 6-Gang-Automatik. Der Innenraum ist bislang noch nicht detailliert vorgestellt worden.

00:03This time, we're talking about an exciting SUV model that unfortunately won't be making its way to Europe,
00:09the new VW Jetta VS8, which was developed exclusively for the Chinese market.
00:15In Europe, the name Jetta usually stands for a rather reserved sedan.
00:20But in China, Volkswagen has been telling a completely different story since 2019 under its joint venture with FAO.
00:26There, Jetta is an independent brand.
00:28The range is now set to be expanded with the VS8.
00:33The Jetta VS8 is a midsize SUV based on the well-known MQB platform, just like the slightly smaller VS7.
00:41With a length of around 4.6 meters, a width of 1.0 meters, a height of 1.6 meters and a wheelbase of 2.6 meters, it is generously dimensioned.
00:51The front section is particularly striking.
00:54The radiator grille, painted in the body color and featuring a simple cross pattern, elegantly extends across the entire width of the vehicle.
01:03It is flanked by LED lights connected by a narrow light strip.
01:08Below, glossy black air ducts provide modern accents in the bumper.
01:12From the side, the VS8 appears rather plain, but the windows sloping towards the rear and the striking D pillars add a touch of dynamism.
01:21At the rear, there are angular taillights, also with a light strip, as well as a two-tone bumper with black elements that would visually provide space for four tailpipes, even though in reality only a single exhaust pipe would protrude under the car.
01:38The Jetta VS8 is powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with direct injection, which is shifted via a six-speed automatic transmission.
01:49Exact performance figures have not yet been officially released.
01:52However, the platform and engine configuration point to familiar VW technology.
01:57The market launch in China has not yet been announced, but is expected to take place before the end of the year.
02:03A price has also not been announced, but comparable models are in the range of around 20,000 euros to 25,000 euros.
02:13For Europe, the VS8 remains a dream for the time being.
02:17According to current plans, there are no plans for a market launch outside of China.
02:23It's a shame, because design features such as the continuous LED light strips at the front and rear as well as the clearly structured body would have certainly found fans here in Germany too.
