00:03President Trump claims Zelensky can end the war almost immediately.
00:07The Truth Social post that could set the tone.
00:10Plus, Texas Democrats heading home.
00:13The walkout is over, but the redistricting battle is getting even hotter.
00:17And flight attendants defy a back-to-work order.
00:20This morning, hundreds of Air Canada flights canceled.
00:25The stories that matter, clear and credible.
00:28From across the country to around the world.
00:31These are your unbiased updates from Straight Arrow News.
00:37Good morning, I'm Craig DeGrelli.
00:39We begin this morning with a critical meeting in Washington, just hours away.
00:43Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to arrive at the White House.
00:47But he won't be alone.
00:49He'll have plenty of European backup in his talks with President Trump.
00:53He'll walk into the East Room at 3 o'clock Eastern.
00:55With French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, Britain's Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and several others who will be coming with him.
01:05The message?
01:06Europe is united and wants a peace deal that does not carve up Ukraine.
01:11The high-stakes meeting comes just days after President Trump's summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
01:17On Fox News Friday, Trump said he and Putin agreed on a lot of key aspects.
01:23But now it's on Zelensky to close the deal when it comes to peace and not just a ceasefire.
01:28Now it's really up to President Zelensky to get it done.
01:33And I would also say the European nations, they have to get involved a little bit.
01:37But it's up to President Zelensky.
01:39I think we are.
01:40And if they'd like, I'll be at that next meeting.
01:42They're going to set up a meeting now between President Zelensky and President Putin.
01:47And myself, I guess.
01:48You know, I didn't even, I didn't ask you about it.
01:50Not that I want to be there, but I want to make sure it gets done.
01:52On top of that interview, Donald Trump took to Truth Social late last night,
01:58putting the burden of ending the war directly on Zelensky, writing,
02:02he can end the war with Russia almost immediately if he wants to, or he can continue to fight.
02:08Trump added that Ukraine must give up any bid to join NATO and accept Russia's hold on Crimea,
02:15demands that echo Putin.
02:16That comment fueling concerns that Zelensky could be strong-armed into concessions.
02:21But Secretary of State Marco Rubio insists this trip is not about that,
02:25and push back against the suggestion that Zelensky may be bullied by Trump.
02:31But you said that they're coming here tomorrow to keep Zelensky from being bullied.
02:34They're not coming here tomorrow.
02:35This is such a stupid media narrative, that they're coming here tomorrow
02:39because Trump is going to bully Zelensky into a bad deal.
02:42We've been working with these people for weeks, for weeks on this stuff.
02:46They're coming here tomorrow because they chose to come here tomorrow.
02:48We invited them to come.
02:49We invited them to come.
02:50The president invited them to come.
02:53You might remember the last time Zelensky met with President Trump in the Oval Office.
02:57Remember this?
02:58Back in February of this year, it was awkward, argumentative, contentious.
03:02And yes, it aired on live TV.
03:05Today's important talks will test not just Ukraine's future,
03:09but the unity of NATO itself.
03:11Putin is pushing for territorial gains.
03:14European leaders insist Ukraine's security and sovereignty cannot be sold off.
03:19And this morning, the world is watching what happens behind those closed doors.
03:24Texas Democrats who fled the state to block a redistricting vote are now starting to come back.
03:30More than 50 lawmakers left for blue states like Illinois and New York earlier this month,
03:35denying Republicans a quorum.
03:37But according to multiple reports, some Democrats have begun returning
03:40now that the Texas House has wrapped up its first special session.
03:44The timing matters because a new special session is set to begin today.
03:49And the Democratic caucus is trying to figure out if enough members are back
03:53that would give Republicans the numbers they need.
03:55Governor Greg Abbott has already issued civil arrest warrants for lawmakers who do not return.
04:00And the FBI says it will help track them down.
04:03This morning, Air Canada flights remain grounded as flight attendants defy a government order to return to work.
04:1110,000 flight attendants walked off the job over the weekend and were immediately locked out by the airline.
04:17The sticking point? Ground pay.
04:19What crews earn when they're on duty but the planes are not in the air?
04:23Air Canada, which runs about 700 flights a day, including to 50 U.S. airports,
04:28offered binding arbitration, but the union said no.
04:31The country's labor board ordered attendants back by 2 p.m. Sunday,
04:36but union leaders pushed back, saying, quote,
04:39our members are not going back to work.
04:41Air Canada now says it will start flying again tonight, but at this point, that's far from certain.
04:46The State Department is freezing all visitor visas for people from Gaza,
04:51even children seeking life-saving medical treatment.
04:54In a post on X, the State Department said all visitor visas for individuals from Gaza are on hold,
05:00while officials review how a small number of humanitarian medical visas were issued in recent days.
05:07Under current policy, foreign nationals can enter the United States for treatment using B-1 or B-2 visas.
05:14So far this year, about 3,800 Gazans with travel documents issued by the Palestinian Authority
05:20have been granted those visas.
05:21Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated Sunday
05:26that any ceasefire deal must include Israel retaining security control over Gaza.
05:32This morning, Hurricane Aaron is growing stronger and bigger,
05:36a dangerous Category 4 storm that's already pounding parts of the Caribbean.
05:41Aaron is packing 130-mile-an-hour winds,
05:43its outer bands lashing the southeast Bahamas as well as Turks and Caicos.
05:48The storm stretches more than 200 miles wide,
05:51meaning coastal communities will feel it even without a direct landfall.
05:55Dare County, North Carolina, has declared an emergency,
05:59ordering evacuations on Hatteras Island.
06:02The fear, days of surf and wind, could wash out Highway 12, the only road in and out.
06:08Aaron already cut power to nearly 150,000 customers in Puerto Rico
06:12and forced the cancellation of dozens of flights over the weekend.
06:15Forecasters say the storm could stay a major hurricane through midweek,
06:20kicking up dangerous surf and rip currents up and down the East Coast.
