00:34We begin with that stunning development out of Washington.

00:37A grand jury has indicted former FBI Director James Comey.

00:41It's a story we flagged for you yesterday here, and now it's official.

00:45The Justice Department charging Comey with making false statements and obstruction

00:49in what some see as an extraordinary escalation

00:52in President Trump's push to prosecute his political enemies.

00:55Prosecutors say Comey lied during 2020 congressional testimony

01:00about the FBI's investigation into Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia.

01:05The indictment was rushed through before the statute of limitations was set to expire next week.

01:10The move follows weeks of pressure from Trump,

01:13who fired the U.S. attorney overseeing the case after he declined to bring charges.

01:17Trump then installed his former personal attorney,

01:21Lindsey Halligan, as the new top prosecutor in Virginia.

01:24On Truth Social last night, Trump called the indictment, quote,

01:27justice in America.

01:30Hours before the indictment dropped, reporters pressed the president on the case.

01:34Here's what he had to say.

01:35I think I'd be allowed to get involved if I want, but I don't really choose to do so.

01:40I can only say that Comey's a bad person.

01:44He's a sick person.

01:45I think he's a sick guy, actually.

01:47He did terrible things at the FBI.

01:50And but I don't know.

01:52I have no idea what's going to happen.

01:54Attorney General Pam Bondi in a post on X said no one is above the law.

01:58The indictment reflects this Department of Justice's commitment to holding those who

02:03abuse positions of power accountable for misleading the American people.

02:08Just one night before the indictment, Bondi was at the White House dining with President

02:11Trump in the Rose Garden.

02:13The image posted online shows Bondi seated with Trump and other allies.

02:17Comey answered with a defiant message of his own, insisting he's innocent.

02:22Somebody that I love dearly recently said that fear is the tool of a tyrant.

02:27And she's right.

02:29But I'm not afraid.

02:32And I hope you're not either.

02:33I hope instead you are engaged.

02:36You are paying attention and you will vote like your beloved country depends upon it, which

02:43it does.

02:45My heart is broken for the Department of Justice, but I have great confidence in the federal judicial

02:51system and I'm innocent.

02:53So let's have a trial and keep the faith.

02:57U.S. District Judge Michael Nachmanoff, a Biden appointee, was tapped to oversee this

03:02case last night.

03:04President Trump is rolling out a new round of tariffs targeting everything from prescription

03:09drugs to furniture.

03:10In a post on Truth Social, Trump said starting next Wednesday, October 1st, the U.S. will impose

03:16a 100 percent tariff on imported branded drugs, a 25 percent tariff on imports of all heavy

03:22duty trucks, 50 percent tariffs on kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, and 30 percent

03:27for upholstered furniture.

03:29He claims the truck tariff will protect manufacturers from, quote, unfair outside competition.

03:35He says cabinet and furniture imports have surged to levels that are damaging American companies.

03:40The president is also threatening to expand the list, including new tariffs on lumber and

03:45semiconductors.

03:47Now to a highly unusual directive from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordering hundreds of

03:52U.S. generals and admirals to drop everything and assemble next week at Quantico, Virginia.

03:58And still, no one knows why.

04:00The Washington Post was first to report the order went to every commander with the rank of

04:05brigadier general or above, 07 through 010, along with their senior enlisted advisors.

04:11That's potentially more than 1,000 of the military's top leaders pulled from posts from

04:16around the world.

04:17According to the Washington Post, the order states, quote, all general officers in command

04:22in grade 07 through 010 and their general officer senior enlisted advisors are directed to

04:28attend within operational constraints.

04:31The meeting is set for Tuesday at a Marine base in Virginia.

04:34The Pentagon says Hegseth will address his senior military leaders, but offered no agenda.

04:40It comes amid a string of high-profile firings and Hegseth's push to rebrand the Pentagon as

04:45the Department of War.

04:46Critics inside and outside the military call it unprecedented, dangerous, and possibly political.

04:52Officials worry about security risks of putting so many top commanders in one room.

04:57Others tell the Post the surprise summit could signal more purges at the highest ranks.

05:02This morning, a manhunt that began on Memorial Day weekend is over.

05:07Suspected child killer Travis Decker is now confirmed dead.

05:11Investigators say DNA matched Decker to remains found last week near Leavenworth, Washington.

05:16He had been on the run since May when authorities believe he took his three daughters, ages 5,

05:218, and 9 camping, then suffocated them.

05:24Searchers found his body less than a mile from where his daughters, Olivia, Evelyn, and Peyton

05:29were discovered.

05:30The coroner is still trying to determine the time and cause of death.

05:34Police had scoured the Cascade Mountains for months with dogs, drones, and dive teams,

05:38but found nothing until last week.

05:41Decker's ex-wife says he was homeless at the time and struggling with the personality disorder.

05:46TikTok is here to stay.

05:49President Trump has signed an executive order clearing the way for the app to be controlled

05:53by U.S. investors.

05:55The move comes months after a ban on the Chinese-owned app, initiated under the Biden administration,

06:00was set to take effect.

06:02Under the new agreement, TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, will hold less than 20% of the platform.

06:07The remaining 80% will go to a group of U.S. investors, meeting the qualified divestiture

06:13required by federal law.

06:15Trump says Oracle's Larry Ellison will have a big role in the deal.

06:19Tech entrepreneur Michael Dell and media mogul Rupert Murdoch are also involved,

06:23though it's not clear yet who all of the investors will be.

06:31It's Friday, so let's turn to your comments and questions from YouTube.

06:41All right, here's what stood out this week.

06:43First up, Jimmy Kimmel.

06:44One viewer writes that his suspension was not Trump's call.

06:48It came from his network.

06:49So here's the deal.

06:50Disney polled Kimmel after his remarks on the killing of Charlie Kirk, and some affiliates

06:55preempted him as well.

06:58Legal scholars tell the AP the First Amendment bars government censorship, not private employers,

07:04though.

07:05Networks can legally suspend programming.

07:06But the debate heated up when FCC Chair Brendan Carr warned that stations could face agency action.

07:14The FCC commissioner, Ana Gomez, called that contrary to the First Amendment.

07:19Kimmel is back on the air, as you know, but not everywhere.

07:22Some affiliates still are not carrying him, and the FCC is signaling more scrutiny ahead.

07:27Next, a health question.

07:29A viewer wanted to know if there's a safer option than Tylenol during pregnancy.

07:33Timely topic, right?

07:35Acetaminophen, the main ingredient in Tylenol, remains the default.

07:39The CDC and the FDA call it the safest choice if taken in low doses, short-term, and under medical guidance.

07:46Some studies link heavy use to developmental conditions, but experts say those show association, not proof.

07:55Other factors, like genetics, may explain the risk.

07:58As for alternatives, ibuprofen and naproxen are not recommended, especially later in pregnancy.

08:05Bottom line, most doctors still see Tylenol as the best over-the-counter option, but as always, check with your provider.

08:12Finally, a question about the Gaza flotilla.

08:15One viewer said that if drones were actually striking the boats, they'd be sunk.

08:20Not necessarily.

08:21So here's what we found.

08:23Activists, including Greta Thunberg, say the drones were about intimidation, calling them scare tactics.

08:29Reports described 13 explosions near vessels south of Greece, jammed radios blasting ABBA songs, and objects dropped on deck.

08:37The result damaged sails and equipment, shaken crews, but no boats did in fact sink.

08:43And there were no casualties.

08:46Italy and Spain took it seriously, though, enough to dispatch Navy ships for rescue operations.

08:51Israel has not claimed responsibility, but insists aid should go through its ports.
