00:01President Trump threatens network licenses after Jimmy Kimmel slams MAGA on air.
00:06All they do is interrupt. They're licensed. They're not allowed to do that.
00:11This morning, a fight over comedy, power, and free speech.
00:14Plus, Kennedy's CDC panel changes the rules.
00:18White children now get two shots instead of one.
00:21And the man accused of killing his three daughters in the Pacific Northwest found dead,
00:26where searchers tracked him down.
00:30The stories that matter, clear and credible, from across the country to around the world.
00:36These are your unbiased updates from Straight Arrow News.
00:41They give you only bad publicity or press.
00:46I mean, they're getting a license. I would think maybe their license should be taken away.
00:52Good morning, I'm Craig DeGrelli.
00:53We begin this morning with controversial comments from President Donald Trump
00:57following ABC's decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel live indefinitely.
01:02The president now suggesting TV networks that criticize him could lose their broadcast licenses.
01:08The comments come just a day after Trump praised ABC for pulling Kimmel off the air,
01:14following on-air jokes and suggestions about Charlie Kirk's assassination.
01:17Trump calling it courageous and urging other networks to follow suit,
01:22naming CBS, NBC, and late-night host Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, and Seth Meyers,
01:28calling them, quote, total losers.
01:30On Thursday, Trump doubled down during a press gaggle aboard Air Force One.
01:34That's something that should be talked about for licensing, too.
01:37When you have a network and you have evening shows and all they do is hit Trump, that's all they do.
01:45If you go back, I guess they haven't had a conservative on in years or something, somebody said.
01:50But when you go back and take a look, all they do is hit Trump.
01:56They're licensed. They're not allowed to do that.
01:58They're an arm of the Democrat Party.
02:00Meanwhile, late-night hosts rallied around Kimmel Thursday night,
02:05defending their colleague and calling out what they see as a dangerous attack on free speech.
02:10We saw the dismissal of a very well-known chat show host in America last night, Mr. Kimmel.
02:17Is free speech more under attack in Britain or America?
02:21How dare you, sir!
02:24What outfit are you with, sir?
02:25The Antifa Herald Tribune?
02:28That is blatant censorship.
02:32Donald Trump is on his way back from a trip to the United Kingdom where he was met with protests
02:37while back here at home his administration is pursuing a crackdown on free speech
02:41and completely unrelated.
02:42I just want to say before we get started here that I've always admired and respected Mr. Trump.
02:49Yeah, a lot of people are worried that we won't keep saying what we want to say
02:53or that we'll be censored.
02:55But I'm going to cover the president's trip to the U.K. just like I normally would.
02:59During the trip, protesters managed to project images onto the sides of Windsor Castle
03:04of Trump standing next to his good friend Jeff Goldblum.
03:10Even though his administration still insists that he's not in the Goldblum files.
03:14On its website, the FCC states that licenses are granted to stations that serve the needs
03:21and problems of their local communities, and most licensees are required to document how
03:26they're meeting those standards.
03:28Big news this morning from out west.
03:30Nearly four months after a Washington state man vanished during a weekend custody visit,
03:36leaving his three daughters dead, investigators believe they have found his remains.
03:40Deputies say human remains were discovered in a remote wooded area near Leavenworth,
03:45not far from where Travis Decker was last seen.
03:48Personal items found nearby point to him, though DNA testing is underway.
03:53Decker had taken his three daughters, five-year-old Olivia, eight-year-old Evelyn,
03:58and nine-year-old Peyton, who you see here, on a camping trip over Memorial Day weekend.
04:02When he failed to return them, a search began.
04:05The girls were later found dead in a rural embankment, their bodies covered with plastic bags.
04:11Decker, an Army veteran with survivalist skills, disappeared,
04:15sparking a wide manhunt across rough terrain.
04:18Authorities believed he may have been living off the grid in the Cascade wilderness.
04:23A major shakeup could be looming inside one of the country's most high-profile federal prosecutor's offices.
04:29According to ABC News, President Trump is expected to fire Eric Siebert,
04:35the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia,
04:38after his office reportedly found no grounds to charge New York Attorney General Letitia James with mortgage fraud.
04:45Sources tell ABC that Trump officials pushed for charges anyway,
04:49but Siebert refused and has now been told he's out.
04:53Trump has long accused James of going after him in New York for political reasons.
04:57She led the civil fraud case that resulted in a nearly half-billion-dollar penalty,
05:02later tossed on appeal, though the fraud ruling stood.
05:06Siebert's firing raises serious questions about political retaliation,
05:10with Trump already under fire for what critics call a broader retribution campaign,
05:15targeting rivals like Adam Schiff and Fed Governor Lisa Cook.
05:19Siebert had only been in the role since January,
05:22overseeing cases tied to terrorism, espionage, and public corruption.
05:25The CDC's new vaccine advisory panel has made a controversial call,
05:32pushing back the recommended age for the combined MMRV vaccine,
05:36which protects against measles, mumps, rubella, and chickenpox.
05:41In a 7-3 vote, the CDC advisory committee said Thursday,
05:45the combined MMRV shot should not be given before the age of 4.
05:49That's a shift from current practice, where toddlers typically receive it starting at 12 months.
05:56Instead, children under 4 are now advised to get two separate shots,
06:00one for MMR, one for varicella.
06:04The reason?
06:04A slightly higher risk for febrile seizures,
06:07a scary but usually harmless side effect,
06:10when the combo shot is given to younger toddlers.
06:12But critics say this was not about science.
06:14The panel, recently overhauled by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,
06:19made the vote before all data was even presented.
06:22The vote now goes to the CDC director for final approval,
06:26though historically that's a formality.
06:28The panel meets again today to take up COVID and hepatitis B guidance.
06:33Ukraine may be thousands of miles away,
06:36but the war there continues to reshape how the world thinks about weapons, innovation, and recovery.
06:42Our weapons and warfare team is on the ground right now in Lviv,
06:46a city now seen as both a hub for defense tech and healing.
06:51Here's a dispatch from our correspondent Ryan Robertson in Ukraine.
06:55Hey Craig, so we are in Ukraine's seventh largest city, Lviv.
06:59We came out here to cover a defense expo.
07:01It's called the Brave One Defense Tech Valley 2025.
07:05The expo brought in around 5,000, 6,000 people from 40 different countries.
07:10We're all coming in to learn how to, you know, develop more weapons,
07:14develop the kind of autonomous weapons that the armies and navies and air forces are going to need,
07:20you know, to fight the next battles that they might have to fight.
07:24So Ukraine is kind of at the forefront right now of so much innovation and technology
07:28that the rest of the world is really kind of recognizing the Ukrainian expertise in this area.
07:34However, we weren't just here to cover a defense expo.
07:36We also went around the city and talked to a lot of different people.
07:40We were at a rehab facility called Unbroken.
07:42Lviv is kind of positioning itself as one of the foremost places to go for rehabilitation
07:47and therapy for veterans or civilians who have been wounded in the fighting.
07:51So we talked to some of those folks.
07:53We also saw some areas of town that were hit recently about a month ago by some Shahed drones.
07:58You know, just seeing the destruction on those buildings in a completely residential area
08:03just really kind of brings home how close this war is to everyone in the country,
08:08even if the front lines are hundreds of miles away.
08:12So over the next few weeks, Straight Arrow News audience,
08:15keep an eye out for all the content that we have coming your way.
08:18But in the meantime, we'll send it back to you, Craig.
08:20All right.
08:20Ryan Robertson for us on a fascinating assignment, really.
08:24That's just a glimpse of what the team is seeing on the ground.
08:26In the coming days, you will find more in-depth reporting
08:29and original videos from Ukraine right here at Straight Arrow News.
08:37Finally today, we're taking a look at what you had to say
08:40on some of the biggest stories of the week.
08:43This is straight from you.
08:44Your questions, your comments from YouTube, fact-checked and answered.
08:49First up, one viewer wants to know why the suspect in Charlie Kirk's killing
08:53is not facing terrorism or hate crime charges.
08:57All right.
08:57So here's the deal.
08:59Under federal law, there's no specific domestic terrorism crime,
09:03even if officials call it that.
09:06Politico notes that to trigger federal charges,
09:09a case usually has to involve federal property,
09:12a federal official, or a hate crime based on race, religion, gender,
09:17not political beliefs.
09:19In this case, Utah prosecutors have charged Tyler Robinson in state court
09:24with aggravated murder, which makes him eligible for the death penalty.
09:28Plus, he's facing other felonies.
09:30A former DOJ official told Politico,
09:33there is no clear federal crime yet,
09:36but if evidence of protective bias emerges, that could change.
09:41Hope that helps.
09:42A viewer wanted to know why Egypt does not just take in Gazans
09:47by just ceding land to the refugees.
09:50Egypt's answer is a firm no.
09:53President el-Sisi says forcing Gazans into Sinai,
09:57which is in northeast Egypt,
09:59would erase Palestinian claims to a future state.
10:03The Rafa crossing into Egypt remains aid only, not relocation.
10:08Egypt and Jordan have both rejected resettlement proposals,
10:12warning it would destabilize their countries
10:14and undermine a two-state solution.
10:17So while Egypt does have territory,
10:20the political red line remains clear.
10:22No permanent resettlement of throngs of people outside Gaza.
10:26And finally, we see your questions about
10:29that story we brought you yesterday on Bringing Back the Dodo.
10:32This viewer asked,
10:33what's the benefit?
10:34And could it be dangerous?
10:37Colossal Biosciences says,
10:39it's one step closer,
10:40growing pigeon germ cells
10:42to eventually create a dodo-like bird.
10:45The plan involves using gene-edited chickens as surrogates
10:49and eventually reintroducing the offspring
10:52into protected reserves in Mauritius,
10:55the bird's native habitat in the Indian Ocean.
10:58But experts warn this won't be a true dodo,
11:01just a generic lookalike.
11:03And some scientists argue the buzz around de-extinction
11:07may divert money from protecting actual endangered species.
11:11The company says dodo chicks could hatch within five to seven years.
11:16All right, a bit complicated, but hope that helps.
