00:30These are your unbiased updates from Straight Arrow News.
00:35Good morning, I'm Craig DeGrelli.
00:37This morning, the Trump administration is cranking up its immigration crackdown, this time taking aim at Boston.
00:43Homeland Security says the new operation, codenamed Patriot 2.0, will target what it calls the, quote,
00:50worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens living in Massachusetts.
00:54The administration is blaming Boston's Democratic mayor, Michelle Wu, accusing her sanctuary policies of, quote,
01:01harboring criminals and putting them above law-abiding citizens.
01:05The Justice Department has already sued Boston over its sanctuary rules, which limit police cooperation with federal immigration officers.
01:13Wu says local police won't be part of the raid and argues it won't make communities safer.
01:19Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey went even further, calling the crackdown political theater.
01:25I support, as attorney general and now as governor, everything we can do on public safety.
01:30But what we have seen from ICE and from the administration really isn't about public safety.
01:36It's about political theater.
01:38It's about a political power grab and an attempt to intimidate.
01:44Operation Patriot 2.0 is a follow-up to May's Operation Patriot, which led to 1,500 arrests nationwide.
01:52President Trump is walking back a social media post from over the weekend that looked a lot like a threat to go to war with Chicago.
01:59On Saturday, the president posted an image of the Chicago skyline with helicopters, flames, and the words Chicago about to find out why it's called the Department of War.
02:09The post was captioned, Shipocalypse Now, you see it right there, a play on the classic war movie.
02:16The post came just a day after Trump signed an executive order rebranding the Department of Defense as the Department of War.
02:23On Sunday, when reporters pressed him on whether he was threatening an American city, President Trump called it fake news.
02:30We're not going to war.
02:32We're going to clean up our city.
02:34We're going to clean them up so they don't kill five people every weekend.
02:37That's not war.
02:38That's common sense.
02:40You could say the battle lines are drawn.
02:42Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker fired back, calling the post, quote, not a joke.
02:47This is not normal.
02:48Donald Trump isn't a strong man.
02:50He's a scared man.
02:51Illinois won't be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.
02:55Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth told CBS the intention of Trump's post was obvious.
03:00Let's make it clear.
03:02The president of the United States essentially just declared war on a major city in his own nation.
03:09This is not normal, Margaret.
03:11This is not acceptable behavior.
03:13Duckworth joined thousands of protesters who took to the streets of Chicago over the weekend, marching, chanting and demanding Donald Trump keep federal troops and ICE agents out of the city.
03:23He wants everyone to be afraid.
03:26He loves to see that people are afraid.
03:29That's why he's bullying the most of all.
03:31But no, I think I'm not afraid.
03:33I'm not afraid.
03:34The administration has floated the possibility of deploying the National Guard to Chicago as part of a broader crackdown on crime and immigration.
03:43DHS officials say ICE operations could begin as early as this week.
03:47With Trump's border czar Tom Holman telling CNN on Sunday to expect action on sanctuary cities soon.
03:53New developments this morning after that massive immigration raid in Georgia.
03:58The U.S. and South Korea have struck a deal to release hundreds of detained workers.
04:04Seoul says more than 300 South Korean nationals detained last week in a federal raid at Hyundai's new electric vehicle plant will be put on a charter flight home once paperwork clears.
04:15They made up the bulk of 475 people swept up when federal agents stormed the underconstruction site, a $7.6 billion project slated to produce EV batteries and create thousands of jobs.
04:29Asked about the raid, President Trump said America still needs foreign expertise to help train workers in critical industries.
04:36It's a battery factory in that case, as I'm told.
04:39And, you know, when they're building batteries, if you don't have people in this country right now that know about batteries, maybe we should help them along and let some people come in and train our people to do, you know, complex things, whether it's battery manufacturing or computer manufacturing or building ships.
04:59So we're going to look at that whole situation.
05:02Meantime, South Korea's foreign minister is heading to Washington today for talks, including whether all detained workers could be sent back on a voluntary basis.
05:12Now to a breaking story to tell you about on this Monday morning, a deadly shooting attack in Jerusalem.
05:17At least five people have been killed after gunmen opened fire at a crowded bus stop.
05:22Israeli police say two attackers sprayed bullets into a crowd just after morning rush hour at one of the city's busiest intersections.
05:30According to CNN, a security officer and a civilian fired back, killing both gunmen on the spot.
05:36At least a dozen others were wounded, several seriously.
05:39No group has claimed responsibility, but Hamas issued a statement calling the shooting, quote, a natural response to Israeli actions.
05:47The attack comes just hours after President Trump told reporters an agreement on Gaza is within reach.
05:53I think we're going to have a deal on Gaza very soon.
05:56It's a hell of a problem.
06:00Again, it's a problem we want to solve for the Middle East, for Israel, for everybody.
06:08But it's a problem we're going to get done.
06:11President Trump is signaling he's ready to turn up the heat on Russia, saying he's prepared to move to a second phase of sanctions against Vladimir Putin.
06:19It came just hours after Russia launched its largest air assault since the war began.
06:25More than 800 drones and 13 missiles fired into Ukraine.
06:29One drone slammed into a residential building in Kiev, killing a mother and her baby.
06:33Another strike ignited the country's main government building for the first time in the war.
06:38Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Putin is testing the world.
06:43He's urging the United States and Europe to follow through with tougher sanctions and more air defense.
06:48Trump, pressed by reporters, said he's ready to deliver.
06:51Watch.
06:52Are you ready to move to the second phase of sanctions against Russia or punishing Putin?
06:59As you heard there, just a very short answer.
07:01Still no details on what those sanctions would involve or when they might kick in.
07:05Finally this morning, a history-making moment at the Vatican.
07:09On Sunday, the Catholic Church declared the first millennial saint.
07:13His name was Carlo Acutis, a 15-year-old from Italy, known as God's Influencer.
07:19He used his tech savvy to create a website documenting miracles around the world.
07:24Carlo died of leukemia in 2006, but his legacy lives on.
07:28Thousands packed St. Peter's Square, and Pope Leo led the canonization ceremony.
07:33Carlo's mother told CNN her son's message was simple.
07:37Use the Internet for good.
07:39She said he often donated his pocket money to help the homeless in Milan.
07:44What a beautiful ceremony for the Catholic Church and Catholics all around the world, for that matter.
07:48Hey, before we head out, here's what we're tracking today.
07:51Starting in Florida, where Ryan Routh goes on trial,
07:54accused of trying to assassinate President Trump during a golf outing last fall.
07:58Routh will be representing himself.
08:00Then at 10, the president is set to speak at the Museum of the Bible,
08:04addressing the White House Religious Liberty Commission,
08:07with Attorney General Pam Bondi, also part of the program.
08:10In New York, all eyes on Howard Stern,
08:13who's teasing a big announcement amid growing questions
08:16about the future of his Sirius XM radio show.
08:19Your coffee can't do all the work, by the way.
