00:00They have work to do this week, the Yankees, even if they do it on the margins more with
00:04secondary prospects, they have to probably get a starter.
00:08They probably have to get two relievers.
00:09One of them left-handed would be ideal.
00:12I am reported on our plus site this morning.
00:16They're still looking for one more bat.
00:18It's not their priority.
00:19Nobody should confuse that.
00:20Pitching, pitching, pitching, but they'd love one more righty guy who can play around,
00:25including shortstop, because I assume Peraza isn't on the roster after six o'clock on Thursday.
00:30And their backup shortstop now is Rosario, who I guess could go and stand there.
00:34But like Boone made it clear yesterday, he doesn't see Rosario as a shortstop.
00:38So I think like Isaiah Kainofalev or Jose Caballero, they really like Willie Castro.
00:44I think Houston's going to make a big play for Willie Castro, though.
00:47Why don't we stick to pitching?
00:49Just because they've done two bats already.
00:51Where do you think they go?
00:52How deep do you think they get one and two?
00:54You think they get a starter and two relievers?
00:56I do.
00:57I do.
00:57There are a ton of starters out there.
00:59They aren't big names.
01:00They're big names that are out there.
01:01I doubt they get moved.
01:02So I'm not seeing Gore or Ryan get moved.
01:05Cease, maybe.
01:07But I think they'll get a depth piece in the rotation, and I do think they'll get bullpen.
01:11I mean, their bullpen, until yesterday, was very good.
01:14I mean, what a surprising game, right?
01:16We don't have Judge playing.
01:18Wheeler's starting for the Phillies, and the Yankees end up winning that game 4-3.
01:22Not expected.
01:23Bullpen was outstanding.
01:24I think Devin Williams looks good now.
01:26Luke Weaver generally has been good.
01:28But I do think they definitely need bullpen.
01:31They need a lefty, and I think they need another big arm, big right-handed arm near the back
01:36of that pen, because it does seem that they've been short.
01:38Now, I know that Cruz, Leiter, are working their way back.
01:41They may help, but I wouldn't count on that.
01:43So, I mean, there are a ton of relievers out there.
01:46That's the plus.
01:46The negative is there's going to be a lot of competition for those relievers.
01:52I think they're going to get what they need to get, because they're relievers, right?
01:55They're going to be able to do it without giving up the big prospects.
01:59Obviously, Spencer Jones is not going anywhere for any of these guys.
02:01George Lombard, Devin, you're not going anywhere.
02:03I don't think Schlittler is going anywhere for any of these guys, but I think they'll be
02:07able to get it done and give themselves a chance.
02:10That said, they don't look like a championship team now, but these things switch around, right?
02:16Detroit, right, yeah.
02:18And all of a sudden, they've lost, I don't know whether they lose 11 of 12 until finally
02:21winning.
02:22Houston's turned the wrong way.
02:23Houston's had to bust over the weekend by Oakland, right?
02:25Right.
02:26Oakland, the A's.
02:27Right.
02:27They're having a ton of injuries.
02:28You can still call them Oakland.
02:30They've had a lot of injuries, Houston.
02:33The Mets were the best record in baseball at one point, something like 45 and 25.
02:38Then they lost 10 of 11 or something like that.
02:41So, every team has gone back and forth.
02:43The Mets are now up, obviously.
02:44But, you know, right now, the Yankees look down, but you can't count them out.
02:49Judge will come back, we think, presumably.
02:51In 20 days, he'll be a full player.
02:5410 days, they think he'll be back.
02:56So, I mean, you know, I think they'll be able to get what they need.
03:00If the Yankees made one trade with St. Louis and got both Phil Maton and Steven Matz, they
03:05got a righty and a lefty.
03:06You know, I looked at Maton.
03:07You know, Maton's striking out 30% of the hitters he's facing.
03:10He's been great.
03:10And we know he's great in the clubhouse, also, because we covered him with the Mets last
03:14year.
03:14And I just...
03:15Karen, people complain about the postseason.
03:17I think he was a worn out.
03:19Oh, he was heavily...
03:20The Mets were playing postseason games in September last year.
03:23So, like, just to get in, right?
03:24We're in Atlanta at the end of the year.
03:26And we had no choice.
03:27I'm not blaming Mendoza.
03:28And I think Maton is a...
03:30He's got guts.
03:31He'd be good.
03:32He's got guts.
