00:00You know who absolutely sucks right now?
00:02The New York Yankees.
00:04They are striking out at a historic, alarming rate.
00:10I mean, it's just absolutely embarrassing.
00:15But, for some reason, Aaron Boone doesn't see any reason to change things up.
00:21You guys have the most strikeouts in the majors over your last 19 games or so.
00:25Do you feel like there needs to be a change in approach at all?
00:29Approach, I mean, we don't want to lead in that number, clearly.
00:35But, as far as approach, I'm confident in our approach.
00:40But, you know, we've got to get some guys on track right now that, you know,
00:45some really good players, obviously, that are going through a tough time right now.
00:48So, we're not going to overhaul and change.
00:51But part of, you know, part of our approach is being a tough out and being situational.
00:57And we've got to do a better job of that right now.
01:00Aaron Boone is okay with the approach?
01:02I mean, do I say congratulations?
01:06First team in American League history to have 17 strikeouts in back-to-back games.
01:14Congratulations to the New York Yankees.
01:16History, what the Yankees are all about.
01:19Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio, Reggie, Jeter, Judge, and back-to-back games with 17 strikeouts.
01:33Congrats on making history.
01:35And Aaron Boone's okay with it?
01:37I mean, by the way, we have all 17 strikeouts.
01:42We've got all the video and still pictures to pick from.
01:47I mean, look at this.
01:48It's more clueless and inept after the next.
01:51And it's just awful watching these at-bats.
01:55And they snowball.
01:57And I love Bellinger.
01:59He's one of my favorite Yankees, big market players, going to the All-Star game.
02:02You watched Bellinger from the jump last night.
02:06He has no idea.
02:08Speaking of no idea, Goldschmidt struck out four times last night.
02:12He's 0 for his last 30.
02:150 for his last 30.
02:18This team, and this is part of it, is unwatchable.
02:23I'm an idiot.
02:24I watched that baseball game last night.
02:27That was insufferable.
02:29Watching the Yankees strike out 17 times.
02:34No fundamentals.
02:36And honestly, none of it's the reason they lost.
02:40Will Warren can't pitch.
02:42He's throwing 91, 92, 93 mile per hour cookies right down Broadway to the bottom of the Rays lineup.
02:53He gave up seven hits and six earned runs.
02:56Three homers.
02:58I mean, this was like the home run derby.
03:01It was akin to batting practice.
03:04Why am I watching Will Warren still pitching for the New York Yankees?
03:09My goodness.
03:10At least Anthony Volpe wasn't in the starting lineup last night.
03:14Then, of course, you have the Michael Kay reports that Volpe refused to play second base in the minors.
03:21I mean, Michael walked that back a little bit.
03:25I'll tell you something.
03:27There's something there.
03:28It's all based on a true story here.
03:31And the Yankees, whether Aaron Boone wants to admit it or not, and this all plays, need to do something
03:38dramatic.
03:39Right?
03:39They're five games behind Tampa Bay.
03:44Five games behind Tampa Bay.
03:47Shea McClanahan pitches tonight.
03:49Chano is a terrific strikeout pitcher.
03:52I can't even get excited about Garrett Cole on the bump.
03:56I lived for the days as a Yankee fan where Cole and Cam Schlittler, they're pitching for my New York
04:02Yankees.
04:03The Yankees feel like they're dead on arrival.
04:07Flat as a pancake.
04:08No juice.
04:10No approach.
04:11They need to do something big.
04:14Because if they lose tonight, if they lose tomorrow, four-game series, I'm just telling you, I don't know how
04:21they get out of this haze and malaise.
04:24Now, in theory, right, you're not going to see Bellinger.
04:27In theory, theory, Bellinger and Jazz and, you know, Goldschmidt all slumping at the same time.
04:33But right now, it just, it's a slippery slope.
04:38It's a downward spiral of negativity.
04:40It's bad at bats.
04:41It's contagious.
04:4417 strikeouts in consecutive games?
04:48So, this team needs to do something if they lose three out of four against Tampa, right?
04:54Like, we're at a stage right now.
04:55I sign up for a split.
04:57That should not be the Yankees' mentality.
05:00And I know Aaron Judge isn't there.
05:01They should be striking out 17 times, okay?
05:04I mean, Trent Grisham and Cashman fouled that up in the offseason, hitting .230.
05:09He's the leadoff hitter for the Yankees.
05:12Yankees are going to have to do one of two things.
05:13I'm just telling you right now.
05:15They're either going to have to cut or ship Volpe to the minors, or they're going to have to fire
05:22Aaron Boone.
05:22They're not going to fire Aaron Boone because he's got more job security than a Supreme Court justice.
05:27Because Brian Cashman and House Arborner just don't care about the manager.
05:32They're just going to keep rolling him out there.
05:34That's documented.
05:35I've always said this when it comes to the players.
05:39The players in a clubhouse know.
05:43They know better than anyone.
05:44They see the work.
05:46They see the effort.
05:48They know the truth.
05:49They know the story.
05:50They see the at-bats.
05:52If they think, if they know that this Volpe situation is real and he, you know, doesn't always come across
06:02as, you know, the greatest guy or the best teammate,
06:05I think the Yankees got to get rid of him.
06:08You want to wake everyone's ass up in that clubhouse and that dugout?
06:11Ship Volpe to the minors.
06:13And look, I've been ahead of the curve on Volpe.
06:16And I don't say that with joy.
06:17I don't say that with jubilation.
06:19I said I never wanted to see his face again last year in Toronto.
06:24End of June, early July.
06:25They went up north and got swept in that series in a four-game series.
06:29By the way, that was different between wild card and division when it came down to the playoffs last year.
06:34The Yankees are just comatose.
06:38Dead on arrival.
06:39There's no heartbeat.
06:40There's no effort.
06:41There's no oomph.
06:42There's no reason to sit down and watch them play.
06:46This is my pleasure as a sports fan, watching the Yankees.
06:51This is a defunct, awful, atrocious, poorly managed baseball team.
06:59And if Volpe refused to play second base in the minor leagues, if, and I'm guessing, this is an educated
07:09guess, right?
07:11Michael Kay has a radio show where he's pretty opinionated.
07:15He also is the voice of the Yankees.
07:18I'm going to guess a couple of people that are influential with the Yankees gave Michael Kay a trial balloon.
07:28Kind of stick your finger out the window, see where the wind is blowing.
07:32Because there still are some people, Yankee fans, who are on Planet Delusional and still think Volpe's good.
07:42Still think he's going to be a big-time player.
07:45You need to do something to wake everyone up.
07:47Yankees need a bat at the trade deadline.
07:50Yankees need three to four relief pitchers at the trade deadline.
07:53Yankees right now are a wild-card team.
07:56And again, it's a weird thing doing what I do for a living because I always have to give this
08:01caveat.
08:01I can't go full mode of just trashing everyone because the American League sucks.
08:09The Yankees' upside is still going to the World Series.
08:11But if they keep playing like this, they're going to miss the entire boat and window of getting there.
08:18They're still the favorites in Vegas to win the American League.
08:21I don't think that's crazy because everyone else stinks.
08:25Watch the Rays go make a trade or two.
08:26Watch the Rays go and trade for school ball.
08:28If the Yankees are a wild-card team, they're not winning.
08:31Simple as that.
08:33We're going to find out if anybody involved in this sad sack organization actually gives a damn.
08:4117 strikeouts, back-to-back games.
08:44Do you know what it's like watching 18 consecutive innings of baseball as a fan and this team can't make
08:50contact?
08:51It's putrid.
08:53It's pathetic.
08:54It's Aaron Boone, Anthony Volpe, Brian Cashman baseball.
08:57Well, I have had about enough.
08:59Enough.
