A shocking incident from Pratapgarh has sparked outrage after a police constable was caught on camera repeatedly slapping a woman during a parking dispute.

According to reports, the incident occurred outside Mangarh Dham in Kunda around 7 PM on Thursday. Swati Singh, a resident of Prayagraj, had parked her car in a no-parking zone. Constable Shivam Samdarshi from the Kunda police’s mobile patrol team arrived on a bike and began scolding the family while recording them on his mobile phone.

Even as the family started moving the car, Swati objected to being filmed and began recording him in return. This led to an altercation during which the constable allegedly snatched her mobile phone and threw it on the ground. When Swati pushed him back, he slapped her thrice in the middle of the road, shocking bystanders who quickly intervened.

Following the incident, Swati’s family protested at the Kunda police station, demanding immediate suspension of the constable and a public apology.

Two videos related to the case have surfaced — one showing the assault, and another CCTV clip showing Swati calmly moving her vehicle while the constable continues recording her.

Circle Officer Amarnath Gupta confirmed that CCTV footage has been recovered and an inquiry is underway. Witnesses are also being questioned.
