A young woman allegedly created chaos at Luhari Toll Plaza on the Jhansi–Khajuraho highway after claiming her mobile phone was stolen, leading to vandalism and a heated confrontation with staff.

The incident occurred on Friday under the Sakrar police station limits. According to toll manager Saurav Panwar, a car carrying three to four women and two men had arrived from Mauranipur after attending a programme in Naugaon. Soon after stopping at the toll, one of the women stepped out, accused the staff of theft, and began creating a ruckus.

Eyewitnesses said the woman, reportedly intoxicated, uprooted multiple barricades and threw them aside while abusing toll workers. She repeatedly demanded to be shown CCTV footage, alleging her phone had been stolen at the plaza.

Despite attempts by staff to calm her and direct her to the CCTV room, the situation escalated, forcing toll employees to call Dial 100 and inform the police.

When police arrived, the woman’s companions also reached the spot. They later admitted that the phone had not been stolen at the toll plaza, following which the group left the scene.

Sakrar police confirmed that no formal complaint has been filed so far, stating that the matter was resolved on the spot. Authorities said further action will be taken if a complaint is received.

The video of the incident has since gone viral, raising concerns over public behaviour and safety at toll plazas.
