00:00The reason you don't follow through on self-care and do the things that you know are good for you
00:03is not because you're a lazy, worthless asshole. Yeah, I have one of those brains too. It's because
00:08a protective part of you interrupts your process of doing it, interrupts your follow-through.
00:14The biggest challenge isn't not knowing what's good for you. It's feeling safe enough to do it.
00:20And I don't mean thinking it's safe. I understand that you logically know, you think,
00:26of course it's safe. It's good for me. I'm saying you don't feel safe enough to do it.
00:33Somewhere in your nervous system, a protective pattern said, that is not safe. You might be
00:40able to think saying no is protecting my peace. Saying no is protecting me. But you might feel
00:49that people-pleasing is what will keep you safe. That feeling, our body, may want to avoid things
00:56like journaling, meditating, or slowing down. Because those things expose the feelings that
01:03we've been burying down. It may expose us to unprocessed pain. So that protective part in
01:09your nervous system is going to be like, no, you know what? No. In today's Connected Healing Group
01:14Session, I call this the Civil War of Healing. And I invite you to lay down your weapons.
01:20If you're not following through, you need curiosity, not shame, not a war. We just need to see
01:26that protective part. Acknowledge its service. Sit with it in curiosity.
