00:00Well Rochelle joins us for tonight's weather forecast. Before you get into your forecast, tell us what are your plans for Diwali 1 and of course the question of the day and of the weekend. What kind of weather can we expect? We're hearing about all these alerts and alerts and alerts.
00:13Well I'm actually travelling out. I'm going to travel for the long weekend. I will. And unfortunately guys we're going to have a lot of rain because it's a tropical storm coming south of Trinidad. So I'll tell you more of the weather centre.
00:26Good evening Trinidad and Tobago. It's Friday and a long weekend. So let me tell you all that's going on in your weather. We're starting off with what's happening. The Trinidad and Tobago mess service is watching a tropical wave about 1900 kilometres east of the southern Windward Islands. Right now it's very unlikely almost 0% that this system will become a tropical cyclone.
00:56before reaching the islands. And there's only a low chance it might develop in the next week. However, a weaker tropical wave will pass south of Trinidad on Saturday bringing some showers and ice into thunderstorms.
01:10The more significant weather is expected from Sunday to Monday with heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds. Because of this, the Met Office has issued an adverse weather alert yellow level for Trinidad and Tobago and nearby marine areas from midday Saturday October 18th at 12pm to Monday October 20th at 10pm. Unfortunate. So moving on now to conditions in Port of Spain. TV6's weather centre
01:40says downtown is mostly clear with temperatures at 32 degrees Celsius. We have winds coming northwest at 2 knots and humidity at 71%. Now let's take a look at what's to come. Tonight conditions will be initially fair becoming partly cloudy to cloudy at times with occasional showers after midnight. There is a medium chance of these showers becoming heavy at times with minimum temperatures coming in at 24 degrees in Trinidad and 25 in Tobago.
02:10And I appreciated the hot sun today because remember when I told you about that tropical wave. Well, he's bringing some showers our way. So tomorrow you can expect partly cloudy to cloudy and breezy conditions with periods of showers. There's a high chance of ice is a thunderstorm activity. So you will want to walk with your umbrellas. Maximum temperatures are 32 degrees in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago.
02:32And I know everyone is hoping for better conditions to celebrate the festival of light but unfortunately those cloudy periods with showers will continue on for the next two days. According to the Met Office, Sunday will be cloudy and breezy with occasional showers with a medium to high chance of isolated thunderstorm activity and Monday will be exactly the same. Maximum temperatures are 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago for both Sunday and Monday.
03:02Coming over to our seas now. Tomorrow seas will be moderate with waves 1.5 meters to 2 meters in open waters and below 1 meter in sheltered areas. If you have any plans to take an early hike tomorrow, sunrise is at 554 in Trinidad and it will set at 546. In Tobago, sunrise is at 551 and it will set at 543. So a hazardous sea alert yellow level has been issued from Friday the 17th of October at 8 PM
03:32until Saturday the 18th of October at 4 PM. This as strong northerly swells with waves up to 15 seconds long combined with spring tides will affect the islands starting Friday night in Tobago then gradually and intermittently in Trinidad. The effects? Rough seas especially at high tide, larger and stronger waves near the shore, disruption to fishing, swimming and boats
04:02moved. All marine interests should carefully monitor near shore coastal sea conditions and exercise caution along with identifying areas restricted near shore marine activities. Secure coastal property and continue to monitor updates from official sites. Now that we have that covered, here are your tide times.
04:32Now that's tonight. Happy Diwali everyone and have a safe and blessed holiday and share love and light this weekend. Don't go anywhere. There's more news after the break.
