A major disciplinary action has been taken in connection with the petrol bomb explosion at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Boys Hostel of Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, on the night of Karva Chauth.
The university administration has filed a case, expelled six students, and suspended nine others from the hostel. These students are now barred from residing in the university premises.
Meanwhile, Medical Police Station has registered a case against unknown students and detained a student named Sumit for questioning. He was later released on bail the same evening.
Police spent all of Sunday scanning CCTV footage and viral videos, which showed students preparing and detonating petrol bombs late on Friday night, creating panic in the hostel. Another video circulating online shows students dancing around a fire and chanting “Vande Mataram.”
CO Civil Lines Abhishek Tiwari confirmed that a case has been lodged and said further action will be taken against others involved.
Chief Warden Prof. Dinesh Kumar stated that identification of the accused students is ongoing. So far, six have been expelled and nine suspended based on CCTV and other evidence.
