Transcript
00:00In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you and with your spirit.
00:20We acknowledge our sins, we acknowledge the compassion, the mercy and the love of God.
00:26Loving God, you are with us in good times and in bad times.
00:30Lord, have mercy.
00:31Lord, have mercy.
00:32Your love is bigger than our fears and doubts.
00:35Christ, have mercy.
00:36Christ, have mercy.
00:37And you call us to live in your love and to share that with each other.
00:41Lord, have mercy.
00:42Lord, have mercy.
00:43May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and lead us into healing and life everlasting.
00:51Let us pray.
00:52Almighty, ever-living God, who in the abundance of your kindness surpassed the merits and desires of those who entreat you,
01:02pour out your mercy upon us to pardon what conscience dreads and to give what prayer does not dare to ask.
01:11Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
01:20Amen.
01:20A reading from the prophet Jonah.
01:36Jonah was very indignant.
01:40He fell into a rage.
01:42He prayed to the Lord and said,
01:44Our Lord, is not this just as I said would happen when I was still at home?
01:52That was why I went and fled to Tarshish.
01:55I knew that you were a God of tenderness and compassion, slow to anger, reaching graciousness, relenting from evil.
02:04So now, Lord, please take away my life, for I might as well be dead as go on living.
02:13The Lord replied,
02:15Are you right to be angry?
02:18Jonah then went out of the city and sat down to the east of the city.
02:23There he made himself a shelter and sat under it in the shade to see what would happen to the city.
02:32Then the Lord God arranged that a castor oil plant should grow up over Jonah to give him shade for his head and suit his ill humor.
02:42Jonah was delighted with the castor oil plant.
02:46But at dawn the next day, God arranged that a worm should attack the castor oil plant and it withered.
02:52Next, when the sun arose, God arranged that there should be a scorching east wind.
02:59The sun bit down so hard on Jonah's head that he was overcome and begged for death, saying,
03:08I might as well be dead as to go on living.
03:11God said to Jonah,
03:13Are you right to be angry about the castor oil plant?
03:17He replied,
03:18Have you ever right to be angry to the point of death?
03:28The Lord replied,
03:30You are only upset about the castor oil plant, which cost you no labor, which you did not make grow,
03:38which sprouted in a night and has perished in a night.
03:41And I am not to feel sorry for Nineveh, the great city, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left to say nothing of all the animals.
03:57The word of the Lord.
03:59Thanks be to God.
04:02Lord, you are tender and full of love.
04:05Lord, you are tender and full of love.
04:07You are my God. Have mercy on me, Lord, for I cry to you all the day long.
04:12Give joy to your servant, O Lord, for to you I lift up my soul.
04:17Lord, you are tender and full of love.
04:19Lord, you are good and forgiving, full of love to all who call.
04:23Give heed, O Lord, to my prayer and attend to the sound of my voice.
04:28Lord, you are tender and full of love.
04:31All the nations shall come to adore you and glorify your name, O Lord, for you are great and marvelous deeds.
04:38You who alone are God.
04:40Lord, you are tender and full of love.
04:45Alleluia, Alleluia.
04:47You have received the Spirit which makes us God's children, and in that Spirit we call God our Father.
04:55Alleluia.
04:56Alleluia.
04:57The Lord be with you.
05:09And with your spirit.
05:10A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Rome.
05:13Glory to you, O Lord.
05:15Once Jesus was in a certain place praying, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said,
05:25Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.
05:30He said to them, say this when you pray, Father, may your name be held holy.
05:37Lord, your kingdom come, give us each day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive each one who is in debt to us, and do not put us to the test.
05:53The Gospel of the Lord.
05:55Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
06:07We continue today the story of our reluctant prophet, who would not go to warn the Ninevites, because he knew that God would be merciful, and then they would make fun of him, because he had preached doom and destruction as a consequence of sin, and it wouldn't happen.
06:24And today God is trying to teach him a lesson, that it's all about compassion, not about his own ego, and about his own self, trying to prove himself.
06:33When God calls us, of course, and God calls each one of us in our different vocations, it is very much to spread the message of Jesus, about God's universal compassion, and call to wholeness.
06:49And in the Gospel today, Jesus teaches us the prayer, the Our Father, where again, the emphasis is, not just on me, but on us, our Father, not my Father.
06:59Forgive us, not just on me, forgive us, forgive us, not just on me, but on us, teach us, not just on me, so that whole emphasis on reaching out to others, reminding us of the words of Scripture, that we cannot say we love God unless we also love our name.
07:15Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for to your goodness we have this bread to offer, which earth has given, human hands have made.
07:34It will become for us the bread of life.
07:37Blessed are you, Lord, forever.
07:38Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for to your goodness we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine, work of human hands.
08:00It will become our spiritual drink.
08:03Blessed be God forever.
08:05Amen.
08:08Let us pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, our Almighty Father.
08:23May the Lord accept his sacrifice at your hands, for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his Holy Spirit, in church.
08:30Accept, O Lord, we pray, the sacrifices instituted by your commands, and through the sacred mysteries, which we celebrate with dutiful service, graciously complete the sanctifying work by which you are pleased to redeem us, through Christ our Lord.
08:47Amen.
08:48The Lord be with you.
08:49And with your spirit.
08:50Lift up your hearts.
08:52Lift them up to the Lord.
08:53Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
08:55He is right and just.
08:56It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks, Father most holy, to your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, your word, for whom you made all things, whom you sent as our Savior and Redeemer, incarnate by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin.
09:24Fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people, he stretched out his hands as he endued his passion, so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the resurrection.
09:37And so, with the angels and all the saints, we declare your glory, as with one voice we acclaim,
09:43Holy, holy, holy, holy Lord, God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory, hosanna in the highest.
09:53Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, hosanna in the highest.
09:58You are indeed holy, O Lord, the font of all holiness.
10:02Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,
10:08so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
10:13At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
10:18he took bread and giving thanks, broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,
10:25Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body which will be given up for you.
10:31In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice,
10:42and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying,
10:47Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood,
10:52the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
10:55which will be pulled out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins.
11:02Do this in memory of me.
11:11The mystery of faith, save us, Savior of the world,
11:16for by your cross and resurrection, you have set us free.
11:20Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
11:26we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation,
11:30giving thanks that you've held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
11:36Humbly we pray, that partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
11:40we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
11:44Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world
11:47and bring her to the fullness of charity,
11:50together with Cleo, our Pope, being your own worthy servant,
11:54and all the clergy.
11:56Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep
11:59in the hope of the resurrection.
12:02And all who have died in your mercy,
12:06welcome them into the light of your face.
12:09Have mercy on us all, we pray,
12:11that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
12:13Blessed Joseph has passed.
12:15For the Blessed Apostles and all the saints
12:19who have pleased you throughout the ages,
12:21we may, for your grace,
12:23merit to be coerced with eternal life
12:25and may praise and glorify you
12:27for your Son, Jesus Christ.
12:33Through him and with him and with him,
12:35O God Almighty Father,
12:37in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
12:39all glory and honor is yours
12:41forever and ever.
12:43Amen.
12:43In the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching,
12:49we dare to say,
12:51Our Father, who art in heaven,
12:53hallowed be thy name.
12:55Thy kingdom come,
12:57thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
13:00Give us this day our daily bread
13:03and forgive us our trespasses
13:05as we forgive those who trespass against us
13:09and lead us not into temptation,
13:12but deliver us from evil.
13:14Deliver us, Lord, we pray,
13:15from every evil.
13:17Graciously grant peace in our days
13:19that by the help of your mercy
13:20we may be always free from sin
13:23and safe from all distress
13:24as we await the blessed hope
13:27and the coming of our Savior,
13:29Jesus Christ.
13:30For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,
13:33now and forever.
13:36Lord Jesus Christ,
13:37who said to your apostles,
13:39Peace I leave you,
13:40my peace I give you,
13:41look not on our sins,
13:43but on the faith of your church,
13:45and graciously grant her peace and unity
13:48in accordance with your will,
13:50who live and reign forever and ever.
13:52Amen.
13:53The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ
13:55be with you always.
13:56Amen.

14:46to the supper of the Lamb.
14:48Lord, I am not worthy,
14:50you should enter under my roof,
14:51but only say the word
14:53and my soul shall believe.
14:56My Jesus,
14:58I believe that you are present
14:59in the most blessed sacrament.
15:01I love you above all things
15:03and I desire to receive you into my soul.
15:06Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
15:10come at least spiritually into my heart.
15:12I embrace you as if you were already there
15:14and unite myself wholly to you.
15:18Never permit me to be separated from you.
15:20Amen.
15:21Let us pray.
15:25Grant us, almighty God,
15:28that we may be refreshed and nourished
15:30by the sacrament we have received,
15:33so as to be transformed
15:34into what we consume.
15:37Through Christ our Lord.
15:39Amen.

15:41And with us too.
