00:00
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:18
The Lord be with you, and with your spirit.
00:21
Today, dear friends, we celebrate the memorial of St. Cornelius, who was a Pope,
00:25
and St. Cyprian, who was a Bishop. Both of them became martyrs of Christ.
00:30
They poured out their lives in witness to the Catholic faith that you and I cherish.
00:35
We pray in a special way for those who, for the sake of the truth and for the sake of our Catholic faith,
00:41
are experiencing persecution throughout the world.
00:44
Those who are not as blessed as we are to be able to worship in peace and in quiet.
00:50
We also pray, dear friends, for your intentions, whatever they may be,
00:54
and wherever you might be praying from.
00:58
Dear brothers and sisters, let's acknowledge our sins,
01:01
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
01:05
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord, have mercy.
01:10
You came to call sinners. Christ, have mercy.
01:14
You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord, have mercy.
01:20
May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins,
01:23
and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.
01:27
Let us pray.
01:27
O God, who gave Saints Cornelius and Cyprian to your people
01:33
as diligent shepherds and valiant martyrs,
01:37
grant that through their intercession we may be strengthened in faith and constancy
01:42
and spend ourselves without reserve for the unity of the Church.
01:48
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you
01:51
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
01:57
A reading from the second letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians.
02:02
We are only the earthenware jars that hold this treasure,
02:07
to make it clear that such an overwhelming power comes from God and not from us.
02:13
We are in difficulties on all sides, but never cornered.
02:18
We see no answer to our problems, but never despair.
02:22
We have been persecuted, but never deserted,
02:25
knocked down, but never killed.
02:27
Always, wherever we may be, we carry with us in our body the death of Jesus,
02:34
so that the life of Jesus, too, may always be seen in our body.
02:39
Indeed, while we are still alive, we are consigned to our death every day
02:43
for the sake of Jesus,
02:46
so that in our mortal flesh the life of Jesus, too, may be openly shown.
02:50
So death is at work in us, but life in you.
02:55
But, as we have the same spirit of faith that is mentioned in Scripture,
02:59
I believed and therefore I spoke,
03:01
we too believe and therefore we too speak,
03:04
knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus to life
03:07
will raise us with Jesus in our turn
03:09
and put us by His side and you with us.
03:14
You see, all this is for your benefit,
03:16
so that the more grace is multiplied among people,
03:20
the more thanksgiving there will be
03:22
to the glory of God.
03:24
The Word of the Lord
03:25
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
03:32
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
03:35
When the Lord delivered Zion from bondage,
03:38
it seemed like a dream.
03:39
Then was our mouth filled with laughter.
03:42
On our lips there were songs.
03:43
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
03:49
The heathens themselves said,
03:51
What marvels the Lord worked for them.
03:53
What marvels the Lord worked for us.
03:55
Indeed, we were glad.
03:57
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
04:00
Deliver us, O Lord, from our bondage streams in dry land.
04:04
Those who are sowing in tears will sing when they reap.
04:08
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
04:11
They go out, they go out full of tears.
04:14
Carrying seed for the sowing.
04:16
They come back, they come back full of song.
04:19
Carrying their sheaves.
04:21
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
04:27
Alleluia, Alleluia.
04:29
Blessed be the Father of mercies
04:30
and the God of all comfort
04:32
who consoles us in all our afflictions.
04:35
Alleluia.
04:36
The Lord be with you.
04:41
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.
04:47
Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said,
04:49
Holy Father, keep those you have given me true to your name,
04:54
so that they may be one like us.
04:57
While I was with them, I kept those you had given me true to your name.
05:01
I have watched over them, and not one is lost,
05:04
except the one who chose to be lost.
05:07
And this was to fulfill the scriptures.
05:08
But now, I am coming to you.
05:12
And while still in the world, I say these things
05:15
to share my joy with them to the full.
05:18
I pass your word on to them,
05:20
and the world hated them,
05:22
because they belong to the world no more
05:25
than I belong to the world.
05:26
I am not asking you to remove them from the world,
05:30
but to protect them from the evil one.
05:33
They do not belong to the world any more
05:36
than I belong to the world.
05:38
Consecrate them in the truth.
05:41
Your word is truth.
05:43
As you send me into the world,
05:45
I have sent them into the world.
05:47
And for their sake, I consecrate myself,
05:50
so that they too may be consecrated in truth.
05:54
The Gospel of the Lord.
05:56
The Gospel of the Lord.
06:26
It will become for us the bread of life.
06:40
Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation,
06:42
for through your goodness we have received
06:44
the wine we offer you.
06:46
Fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
06:47
it will become for us our spiritual drink.
07:07
Pray, brothers and sisters,
07:08
that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God,
07:11
the Almighty Father.
07:18
Receive, we pray, O Lord, the offerings of your people,
07:21
in honor of the passion of your holy martyrs,
07:24
St. Cornelius and St. Cyprian.
07:26
And may the gifts that gave them courage under persecution
07:29
make us, too, steadfast in all trials,
07:32
through Christ our Lord.
07:34
The Lord be with you and with your spirit.
07:37
Lift up your hearts.
07:39
We lift them up to the Lord.
07:40
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
07:43
It is right and just.
07:45
It is truly right and just,
07:46
our duty and our salvation,
07:49
always and everywhere,
07:50
to give you thanks,
07:51
Lord, Holy Father,
07:52
Almighty and Eternal God.
07:54
For you are glorified when your saints are praised.
07:57
Their very sufferings are but wonders of your might.
08:01
In your mercy you give ardor to their faith.
08:04
To their endurance you grant firm resolve.
08:06
And in their struggle the victory is yours.
08:09
Through Christ our Lord.
08:10
Therefore,
08:11
all creatures of heaven and earth
08:13
sing a new song in adoration.
08:15
And we, with all the hosts of angels,
08:17
pray out.
08:18
And without end we acclaim,
08:21
Holy, Holy,
08:22
Holy Lord,
08:23
God of hosts,
08:25
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
08:27
Hosanna in the highest.
08:29
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
08:32
Hosanna in the highest.
08:37
You are indeed holy, O Lord,
08:39
a fount of all holiness.
08:40
Make holy therefore these gifts, we pray,
08:43
by sending down your spirit upon them like the twofold,
08:46
so that they may become for us
08:47
the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
08:50
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
08:55
he took bread,
08:56
and giving thanks broke it,
08:58
and gave it to his disciples saying,
09:01
Take this all of you and eat of it,
09:04
for this is my body,
09:07
which will be given up for you.
09:09
In a similar way,
09:36
when supper was ended,
09:37
he took the chalice,
09:39
and once more giving thanks,
09:41
he gave it to his disciples saying,
09:43
Take this all of you and drink from it,
09:46
for this is the chalice of my blood,
09:48
the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
09:52
which will be poured out for you and for many
09:54
for the forgiveness of sins.
09:57
Do this in memory of me.
09:59
The mystery of faith,
10:28
we proclaim your death,
10:29
O Lord,
10:30
and profess your resurrection
10:32
until you come again.
10:34
Therefore,
10:35
as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
10:38
we offer you,
10:39
Lord,
10:39
the bread of life
10:40
and the chalice of salvation,
10:42
giving thanks that you have held us worthy
10:44
to be in your presence
10:46
and minister to you.
10:48
Humbly,
10:48
we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
10:51
we may be gathered into one
10:53
by the Holy Spirit.
10:55
Remember,
10:56
Lord,
10:56
your church spread throughout the world
10:57
and bring her to the fullness of charity,
11:01
together with Leo,
11:01
our Pope,
11:02
and Charles,
11:03
our Bishop,
11:03
and all the clergy.
11:05
Remember,
11:05
who are also our brothers and sisters
11:07
who have fallen asleep
11:08
in the hope of the resurrection
11:09
and all who have died in your mercy.
11:12
Welcome them into the light of your face.
11:15
Have mercy on us,
11:16
all we pray,
11:17
that with the blessed Virgin Mary,
11:19
Mother of God,
11:20
with blessed Joseph,
11:21
her spouse,
11:22
with the blessed apostles,
11:24
and all the saints
11:25
who have pleased you throughout the ages,
11:27
we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life
11:30
and may praise and glorify you
11:32
through your Son,
11:33
Jesus Christ.
11:37
Through him and with him and in him,
11:40
O God,
11:40
Almighty Father,
11:42
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
11:44
all glory and honor is yours
11:46
forever and ever.
11:49
Amen.
11:51
At the Savior's command
11:52
and formed by divine teaching,
11:54
we dare to say,
11:56
Our Father,
11:57
who art in heaven,
11:58
hallowed be thy name,
12:01
thy kingdom come,
12:02
thy will be done on earth
12:04
as it is in heaven.
12:06
Give us this day our daily bread
12:08
and forgive us our trespasses
12:09
as we forgive those
12:11
who trespass against us.
12:13
And lead us not into temptation,
12:16
and deliver us from evil.
12:18
Deliver us, Lord,
12:19
we pray,
12:19
from every evil,
12:20
graciously grant peace in our days,
12:23
that by the help of your mercy
12:24
we may be always free from sin
12:26
and safe from all distress,
12:28
as we await the blessed hope
12:30
and the coming of our Savior,
12:32
Jesus Christ.
12:37
Lord Jesus Christ,
12:38
you said to your apostles,
12:39
Peace I leave you,
12:40
my peace I give you.
12:42
Look not on our sins,
12:43
but on the faith of your church,
12:45
and graciously grant her peace
12:47
and unity in accordance with your will,
12:49
who live and reign forever and ever.
12:52
The peace of the Lord be with you always.
12:55
Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
12:58
Peace be with you.
13:07
Lamb of God,
13:08
you take away the sins of the world,
13:11
have mercy on us.
13:12
Lamb of God,
13:13
you take away the sins of the world,
13:15
have mercy on us.
13:17
Lamb of God,
13:18
you take away the sins of the world,
13:20
and grant us peace.
13:21
Behold the Lamb of God,
13:45
behold him who takes away the sins of the world,
13:48
blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
13:52
Lord,
13:52
I am not worth it,
13:53
that you should enter under my roof,
13:56
but only say the word,
13:57
and my soul shall be healed.
14:00
My Jesus,
14:01
I believe that you are present
14:03
in the most blessed sacrament.
14:05
I love you above all things,
14:07
and I desire to receive you into my soul.
14:10
Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
14:13
commonly,
14:14
spiritually,
14:14
into my heart,
14:15
I embrace you as if you were already there,
14:18
and unite myself wholly to you.
14:21
Never permit me to be separated from you.
14:24
Amen.
14:26
Let us pray.
14:29
Through these mysteries which we have received,
14:32
we humbly beseech you, O Lord,
14:33
that by the example of the martyrs,
14:36
Saints Cornelius and Cyprian,
14:38
we may be strengthened with the fortitude of your spirit
14:40
to bear witness to the truth of the gospel,
14:43
through Christ our Lord.
14:45
Amen.
14:46
Friends,
14:46
thank you for your prayerful company today
14:48
as we celebrate this Mass online.
14:51
We pray for God's blessings upon you,
14:52
your intentions,
14:53
and your families,
14:54
wherever you may be.
14:55
Let's continue to pray for each other.
14:58
The Lord be with you.
14:59
May Almighty God bless you,
15:01
the Father,
15:02
and the Son,
15:03
and the Holy Spirit.
15:04
Amen.
15:05
Go and announce the gospel of the Lord.
