00:19century, the daughter of a pagan king named Damon and a devout Christian mother. From

00:25an early age, Dymphna embraced her mother's faith, converting to Christianity and dedicating

00:30her life to God. However, tragedy struck when Dymphna's mother passed away, leaving her father

00:36devastated by grief. Damon's sorrow soon turned into a form of madness. In his overwhelming

00:42despair, he sought to marry a woman who resembled his late wife, and shockingly, his gaze fell

00:49on Dymphna, his own daughter. Horrified by her father's intentions, Dymphna fled her

00:55homeland. Along with her trusted confessor, she escaped to Belgium. There, Dymphna hoped

01:01to live a life of devotion and service to God, far away from her father's destructive plans.

01:06But Damon was relentless. He pursued Dymphna, and upon finding her, he once again demanded

01:13she returned with him. Dymphna, firm in her faith and principles, refused. In a final act

01:19of rage, her father beheaded her. Dymphna was only fifteen years old when she was martyred

01:24for her purity and her faith in God. Following her death, Dymphna's tomb became a place of

01:30pilgrimage. Miracles soon began to occur at her burial site. People suffering from mental

01:36illness, epilepsy, and emotional turmoil came to pray for her intercession, and many left

01:43healed. Over time, word spread of the miraculous healings attributed to St. Dymphna, and she

01:49was declared the patroness of those afflicted with mental and emotional disorders. To this

01:54day, St. Dymphna is invoked by people all over the world who seek her intercession for relief

01:59from anxiety, depression, and other mental afflictions. Many testify to the peace and healing they
