00:00Greetings, friends. Today we celebrate St. Bridget of Ireland, hosted by A Blessed Call to Love.
00:09St. Bridget of Ireland was born in 451 AD in Ireland. She is one of Ireland's most beloved
00:15saints, alongside St. Patrick. Bridget was raised by a Christian mother and a pagan chieftain father,
00:22and from an early age she showed a deep compassion for the poor and a strong devotion to God.
00:27Bridget founded several monasteries, the most famous being the Abbey of Kildare,
00:33which became a major centre of religion and learning in Ireland. Kildare was unique because
00:39it was a double monastery, housing both monks and nuns. Bridget became the abbess, and under her
00:46leadership the Abbey thrived. She was known for her wisdom, healing abilities, and care for the sick
00:53and poor. Often performing miracles to aid those in need, Bridget's spiritual influence
00:58extended beyond Ireland. As her fame spread throughout Europe, she was revered for her deep
01:04piety, humility, and care for others, embodying the Christian ideals of love and service.
