Major ministerial shake-ups. Sixteen ministries, along with the Prime Minister's Office and the Attorney General's Office, see significant shifts, with some ministers gaining new duties, others losing some, and two ministries reclassified.

00:00As of Friday, October 3, 2025, 16 ministries, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Office of the Attorney General, each had significant changes, with responsibilities either being added or removed.
00:15Among the reassignments, 10 ministers were given additional duties, while 14 had responsibilities removed from their portfolios.
00:24Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander was given the additional task of overseeing the prison system, which was previously under the Ministry of Justice, and lost oversight of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, which now goes to Justice Minister Devish Maharaj.
00:43The Prime Minister, Kamala Passad-Bissasa, has taken on a host of additional responsibilities, namely matters relating to heritage buildings, constitutional reform, National Trust, the National Commission for Self-Help Limited, National Library Services, Home Improvement Grants Policy, Housing and Village Improvement Programme, and Government-aided Self-Help Housing Programme.
01:09The Minister of Finance, Devindranath Tanku, was given the Ex-Im Bank of TNT out from under the Ministry of Trade and matters relating to the National Health Insurance System, which was removed from Health Minister Lakrambodo's oversight.
01:26Meanwhile, Public Utilities Minister Bari Padarak now has responsibility over PowerGen, which was removed from Energy Minister Rudal Munilal's portfolio.
01:37Also losing responsibilities, the Minister of Culture and Community Development, Michelle Benjamin, is no longer responsible for the National Commission for Self-Help Limited, having gone to OPM, and Sport Minister Philip Watts is no longer responsible for the Geriatric Adolescent Partnership Programme GAP, which now falls under the Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, Vandana Mohit.
02:04Senator Kennedy Swarath Singh now oversees social planning, development and monitoring.
02:11The most significant reclassification was that of Ravi Ratiram, who lost all land-related responsibilities.
02:18His ministry was renamed from Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, to simply Agriculture and Fisheries, Oversight of State Land Surveys, the Land Settlement Agency, the Estate Management and Business Development Company, was transferred to Legal Affairs Minister Saddam Hussein, whose ministry is now reclassified as the Ministry of Land and Legal Affairs.
