00:00As Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander is settling into his new role in the Cabinet, he met with the executives of the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service and the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service on Tuesday.
00:11Under the new NC-led government, the National Security Ministry has been split into two, Homeland Security and Defence.
00:18On Tuesday, a media release which still bears the old letterhead said that during Minister Alexander's meeting with the executive officers of the fire service, discussions focused on the challenges fire officers face daily and the urgent need to improve resources, equipment and working conditions across the service.
00:37The media release further said that Minister Alexander stated that he was committed to ensuring that the fire service personnel are fully supported and equipped to protect lives and property.
00:49The Homeland Security Minister, the Chief Fire Officer and the other executives of the fire service are also reported to have spoken about their shared responsibility to move the service forward with purpose and urgency.
01:01There was also another media release that stated that the Homeland Security Minister met with the executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service and focused on improving operations, strengthening institutional support and advancing rehabilitation initiatives within the nation's correctional system.
01:18Minister Alexander expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the men and women who serve in the prison service and reaffirmed the ministry's support in addressing critical challenges and promoting long-term improvements.
01:32And in keeping with his new responsibilities, Minister Alexander recently joined some of his cabinet colleagues at a dinner where they met with the charge d'affaires of the United States Embassy in Port of Spain,

01:50The other ministers in attendance are shown in a photo posted by the U.S. Embassy on its Facebook page where Defense Minister Wayne Sturge, Foreign and Karakom Affairs Minister Sean Sobers,

02:08The U.S. Embassy said the dinner took place on May 7th and the charge d'affaires said, quote,
02:13the evening was an opportunity to discuss important policy issues and reinforce the mutual respect and shared interests that formed the bedrock of U.S.-Trinidad and Tobago relations, end quote.
