The Prime Minister is going to place Defence Minister Wayne Sturge as a Minister in the Ministry of Homeland Security.

Works are afoot to see Stand Your Ground Legislation to fruition.

00:00Regarding stand-your-grown legislation and legal firearms, we have been looking at models
00:06across the world and in particular right next door to us in Florida is a model that we can
00:13adopt here and we have the committee that has been put in place to help us come up with
00:18the legislative provisions for putting stand-your-grown legislation.
00:24The other one is with legal firearms.
00:26I see some people are saying we should not go that route of giving people who apply legal
00:31firearms.
00:32We campaigned on that, we got a special majority vote, that was one of the things we promised
00:37the electorate and we will deliver.
00:39We will deliver.
00:40For those of you who are against that, to give legal firearms to law-abiding citizens, of course
00:45with the checks and the balances, the answer is simple, do not apply.
00:51If you're against getting a firearm or giving a firearm, you have the option.
00:56It is your choice.
00:57Do not apply.
00:58But we will proceed with stand-your-grown legislation.
01:01We will proceed with giving legal firearms in, as I say, within a framework.
01:07Because those were matters we promised the electorate.
01:09And those were some of the policy positions we took, which gave us the special majority
01:14in the parliament.
01:15As I say, everyone has an opinion.
01:17I again remind everyone, this is still a democracy and as long as I am here, it will remain a democracy.
01:24So everyone is entitled to voice their opinion in favour or not in favour, that is their democratic
01:32right.
01:33Today I am voicing mine.
01:35Many victims of home invasion have written to me about their experiences.
01:39Most victims want to defend their families, but did not have the equal means to do so.
01:45In the first place, no one should be invading your home.
01:49The government, the judiciary and police will ensure to work to put an end to home invasions.
01:58It is our duty.
