00:14Opposition MP Marvin Gonzalez says the country must draw the line.
00:19The prime minister is not in control of her government.
00:24The prime minister is not in control of the security issues affecting the people of Trinidad and Tobago,
00:32or the minister of defense not updating the National Security Council and his prime minister on these very important matters.
00:41Either the minister of defense must be called upon to resign from office immediately,
00:46or the prime minister, if she cannot discharge her constitutional duties to protect the people of Trinidad and Tobago,
00:55and perhaps may not have been truthful when she said, if we were to take out her words,
01:00that she was not aware that members of the defense force were called out to duty
01:06and asked to return to base with immediate effect,
01:09then the prime minister would have failed in her responsibilities to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
01:15On Friday last, the prime minister and the defense minister also presided over a promotion ceremony at the Red House
01:23for the chief of defense staff and the new commanding officer of the regiment.
01:27And as of yesterday, the defense minister telling you, the people of Trinidad and Tobago,
01:33that he is preparing a brief on this matter to the prime minister.
01:37Well, before he prepared that brief to the prime minister,
01:40she had the opportunity to hear from the chief of defense staff and from the commanding officer of the regiment
01:48who were at her office last week, Friday.
01:52She had the opportunity to ask her to update her in her capacity as chair of the National Security Council
01:59on the issues that were affecting the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
02:02The prime minister needs to come clean and she must tell the people of Trinidad and Tobago
02:08whether she is in a state to discharge her duties as chair of the National Security Council.
02:15The opposition is also questioning the government's stance
02:18that it does not have information as it pertains to the United States' next steps regarding Venezuela.
02:25If the Honorable Prime Minister, during her visit to the United Nations,
02:33had a meeting with Secretary Rubio,
02:36I think it is fair to assume that those lines of communication exist.
