00:00How do you overcome shyness and the fear of public speaking? If you're shy and you also want to get
00:04confident with public speaking, keep watching for some simple tips you can use right away
00:08to boost your confidence. I'm Eddie Baller and I'm a dating coach and the owner of conquering
00:12one.com. I've been coaching men since 2011 to build their confidence and meet the kind of
00:16women they want. So let's jump into it. How to overcome shyness and the fear of public speaking?
00:25Most people have some fear of public speaking, but if you're shy, it's just worse. Luckily,
00:29you can kill two birds with one stone and overcome shyness and the fear of public speaking at the
00:33same time. I often recommend public speaking courses for my clients who want to get good with women
00:37because it helps with a lot of different things besides public speaking. Public speaking will
00:42allow you to build your confidence, be less shy, and improve your communication skills. And all of
00:46this will help you connect better with others. Here are some tips to overcome shyness and the fear
00:49of public speaking. Number one, join a public speaking club. This is the most obvious one,
00:54but if you want to learn how to do public speaking and overcome your shyness, then join a club. It
00:57makes the most sense. If you join a public speaking club like Toastmasters, you'll get a chance for
01:01live feedback, which will help you improve much more rapidly. Plus, you'll be in a supportive
01:05environment. Number two, speak on video. It doesn't matter if you actually publish your videos or not,
01:09you don't have to have a public vlog, but speaking into the camera will actually help you improve
01:13your communication skills and overcome anxiety speaking in front of others, even if you're not
01:17speaking in front of others. It may sound odd, but when you start speaking into the camera by
01:21yourself and you have to speak on a topic, it's suddenly very awkward. And this is something I experienced
01:25personally, but over time it got better. Plus, it'll allow you to work on your communication skills,
01:29your public speaking skills, without the pressure of others watching. Number three, go to networking
01:33events. Networking events will allow you to communicate directly with others, and because
01:37you'll be in a group environment, talking with a lot of people, that's going to help you overcome
01:40your shyness, just through chatting and doing introductions. And at some networking events,
01:44they'll actually have you stand up and introduce yourself, which will also help you practice more
01:47your public speaking. Number four, take every opportunity you get to speak publicly. If you go to
01:51weddings, parties, or other events, very often there's going to be chances of making a speech,
01:55which will give you more practice of your public speaking and overcoming your shyness. So keep in
01:58mind that everything on this list works more the more you work. The more you practice your public
02:02speaking skills, the better you're going to get, and the less shy you're going to be. Now, here are
02:06some common questions about public speaking and shyness. Why am I afraid of speaking in public? Being
02:10afraid of speaking in public is a very common fear. There could be a lot of reasons for this, but one of the
02:14reasons is obviously insecurity. You have a lot of eyes and ears looking at you and listening to you. You can make a mistake
02:19while you're speaking. You can do other things. Or you might be afraid of judgment generally, or your
02:23attention being brought to something physically that you may not like about yourself. How do I calm my nerves
02:27before public speaking? To calm your nerves before getting on stage, try some of the following. Number
02:31one, breathe. By breathing deeply and exhaling slowly, you'll calm your nervous system. Two, practice. As
02:37they say, practice makes perfect. And by practicing your speech a lot, it's going to make you more
02:41confident because you're going to know that speech inside and out, which will make you less likely to make a
02:44mistake and make you feel more confident. Three, body language. Make sure you're not exhibiting insecure body
02:49language like putting your hands in your pockets, walking around, looking at the ground, rolling your shoulders
02:53forward. Make sure you stand tall and exhibit confident body language. By exhibiting confident body language,
02:59you'll feel more confident. Can the fear of public speaking be cured? Yes, the fear of public speaking can be cured,
03:04although the fear may not completely go away. Through practice and repetition by getting on stage over and over and
03:09over again, it'll become like second nature to you. How do introverts get better at public speaking? Introverts get better at
03:14public speaking the same way everyone else gets better at public speaking. Just through repetition and practice
03:18and getting out there and doing it. To learn more about overcoming the fear of shyness, check out the link in the
03:22description or comment section below. And until next time, conquer and win.
