00:00But by the way, Joe, we're oddsmen here, as we like to say.
00:02We like to understand why some of these numbers are moving.
00:05For the final month of the season, the Phillies continue to gain momentum
00:08as the favorites to win the World Series.
00:11The Dodgers beat a bad Reds team.
00:13And all of a sudden, people are like, yeah, Dodgers are the best team out there.
00:16Look at the odds to win the NL pennant.
00:17The Dodgers, plus 190.
00:19The Phillies, plus 250.
00:20I just want to start there.
00:22Like, the Phillies are rested, ready, and healthy now,
00:24and at home for a five-game series.
00:27And they're like, yeah, Dodgers always been the best team.
00:29And just flip those odds back around.
00:31What's going on there?
00:32Why?
00:33Why are the Brewers plus 320 is my question.
00:37I have no idea.
00:39They have the best record in all of baseball.
00:41Like, what am I missing here?
00:43But listen, yes, the Dodgers defending champs, you know,
00:47they should be the favorites here.
00:49I think the Phillies, in a longer series now, I hate to think it, Donnie,
00:55but I believe the Wheeler injury is going to rear its head here.
00:59And I think that might be, if the Phillies can't get past the Dodgers,
01:03it might be because, well, they didn't have their ace going into this series.
01:08But it is crazy, though.
01:09Like, the two home teams that were the better records during the season
01:13that don't have major injury concerns that just popped up like a week ago, right?
01:17Like, we knew Zach Wheeler was going to be out for a while.
01:19It's like, yeah, the Cubs won.
01:21They're hot.
01:21They should be able to, you know, beat the Milwaukee Brewers.
01:24Yeah, the Dodgers didn't look all that good to end this.
01:26Don't worry about it.
01:27They beat the Reds.
01:27They're fine.
01:28They're going to beat the Philadelphia Phillies.
01:29If we do the same thing in the American League, Joe,
01:31the Yankees now are the favorites.
01:32Now, we predicted this.
01:34We said if the Yankees were going to beat the Boston Red Sox,
01:36they would reclaim the right, even though they don't have the best record
01:39as the most bet team in the odds-on favorite, which would be a plus 155.
01:43Mariners, plus 210.
01:44Blue Jays, plus 320.
01:45Tigers at a 5-1 price.
01:47Nobody giving Scoble and the boys any looks here, Joe.
01:50Yeah, no, nor should they.
01:52There is, I mean, they might have, they took on a team that can't hit their weight,
01:57and that is not going to be the case here in the next round against Seattle.
02:01So, I think they're in trouble.
02:04But the reality is, listen, again, with the Yankees, like the Dodgers,
02:08yeah, good luck.
02:09You know, they should be the favorites here.
02:11Don't forget they had the same record as the Blue Jays.
02:14The Blue Jays had the tiebreaker because they went 8-5 against the Yankees this year
02:18in the, you know, regular season series.
02:21So, Yankees should be the favorite here, but that's why they play the games, Donnie.
02:26Yep.
02:26The Elite Eight in Major League Baseball.
02:28Detroit going to take on Seattle, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the New York Yankees,
02:32the Dodgers and the Phillies, and then the Brewers and the Cubs.
02:34Fantastic stuff.
02:35And the anticipation of longer series this year in the divisional round
02:38should be a lot of fun to watch it play out.
02:40But these games will take place on Saturday.
02:42And if we start there, the primetime game, 6.38 p.m. from Citizens Bank Park,
02:47Red October.
02:48It's going to be a crazy environment.
02:49Shohei Otani going up against Christopher Sanchez.
02:52Fantastic.
02:52Did you know, Joe, the buy-in, just to get into this game and sit in the worst seat
02:57or maybe stay in the room and not have a seat, Joe?
03:02$311, man.
03:03Boy, oh boy, those tickets are going up, huh?
03:06Wow, that's crazy.
03:08Or you can sit on your couch and get every angle and the best feed in a 4K TV
03:13that you could possibly see.
03:15That would be my option, Donnie.
03:16Listen, this is going to be a hell of a series.
03:20I don't think it's going to be one that's going to be over quick.
03:22I think this has got seven games written all over it.
03:25But it would be interesting to see this extended rest, Donnie.
03:29Does it help?
03:30Does it hurt?
03:31Are the Dodgers just happy to have been playing a couple of games to fine-tune it up
03:36and keep rolling into Philly?
03:38I'm going to be interested to see this in these early games here,
03:41in these series with these teams that haven't played in a hot minute.
03:45And by the way, rooting interest.
03:46Like, I am a Phillies fan.
03:47I am rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies.
03:48But I got to tell you, like, I would love to see the Phillies play the Cubs.
03:51I'd say baseball would probably like the Phillies.
03:52Obviously, an advanced, bigger market.
03:54Same thing with the Cubs.
03:55And anybody play the Dodgers, which is a bonanza.
03:57But if we flip it over to the American League, look, I like Toronto.
04:01It's a good story.
04:01But it doesn't feel like we need the Yankees and the Mariners in the ALCS to sort of decide
04:06who the MVP is and has superstar after superstar, East Coast versus West Coast.
04:10It doesn't feel like that's what we actually need.
04:13Yes.
04:14And I think that's what Major League Baseball would want as well, Donnie.
04:18It feels like that would be the absolute perfect situation right there.
04:22So, yeah.
04:23Big markets at Dodgers-Yankees round two.
04:27Could it be?
04:28Or could the Phillies and Yankees be going at it?
04:30You know what's going to happen, too?
04:32Mariners and the Yankees were like Cal Raleigh has an awesome series and they win.
04:35And then Aaron Judge gets the MVP of what he did in the regular season.
04:38Make it happen, people.
04:40Hour number two.
04:40We're making it happen next.
04:42You earned it, people.
04:43Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, out the window.
04:45Football Friday, right here on the Sports Grid Network.
04:47We covered every single angle you are going to need for this weekend.
04:51But this time, Joe, this is where we like to reach out to the people and say,
04:55we need your help on a certain question.
04:57This is our favorite public poll.
04:58If you haven't done so yet, go over to X, hit the follow button.
05:09Like, you can follow there, at Joe Ranieri, at Donnie Wrightside.
05:12That's all fine and good.
05:13We know you've already done that.
05:14But if you're not following at Sports Grid, how can you answer these questions?
05:17A simple question was asked today.
05:19Will the Yankees or Dodgers go back to the World Series?
05:22I got to fess up.
05:23I read this through and said, okay, that's it.
05:25Wait, they made it?
05:26Like, I guess I'm 48 years old and I forget.
05:28I'm telling you.
05:29Like, I had no idea the Yankees were in the World Series last year
05:32because we usually forget the loser and always remember the victors.
05:34But the question was asked, will they get back to back here on this?
05:38Yes, 36% live.
05:40No, 63%.
05:43How about that?
05:44It's not going to be a Yankees-Dodgers series, the people are telling you.
05:48You know, I think they got it right, Donnie,
05:51because at this point, given the road to the postseason,
05:56is, you know, I think you have right around those kinds of odds here
06:01that you're going to get one, if not both of them, back there.
06:05Both are the favorites in their divisions, right?
06:08American League, National League, we put those numbers up earlier.
06:12So I think there's a 50-50 chance one of them at least runs the table
06:17and gets back to the World Series.
06:18Which, again, the question doesn't ask, like, both of them.
06:21But if you expect, like, to get back a rematch of the World Series, it's or.
06:25So you get both the Yankees and the Dodgers, who, correct me if I'm wrong, Joe,
06:29the odds on, you know, chances for them to get there, they're the favorites.
06:33We'll see if they get there or not.
06:35No for the public.
06:36Yeah, I think everybody's just hating on them, which I respect it, too.
06:38As a Philadelphia fan, let's hate on the Yankees.
06:40Let's hate on the Dodgers.
06:41More good comes out of that than not at this point.
