00:00Major League Baseball. What do we like to see? 8.08 p.m. tonight out in the Pacific Northwest.
00:06A winner-take-all game. And that winner, could it be Detroit with Tarek Skubal?
00:11Or that winner, George Kirby. Oh my goodness here. And the total listed at 5.5.
00:19What is this, Joe? At least 7.5, 8.5, 9, 5.5 runs will be at a premium.
00:25But the favor in this game is the Tigers. They opened up at the FanDuel Sportsbook round of minus 134 price.
00:31FanDuel's moved them to 136 and as high as 138 at other outlets here.
00:37I look at this game and say, nobody really wants to fade Tarek Skubal, do they?
00:41But this, as you said, Joe, is a Mariners team that's like, hey, man, we've never seen this guy pitch before.
00:46There's no way we can hit this guy. All hands on deck. Game 5, winner-take-all, Friday night, Joe.
00:54I love to see it.
00:55Yeah, it's, listen, it's kind of crazy to think that this even made it to five games, Donnie,
01:01because I did not think this was it. I thought for sure Seattle would have been able to close the book here.
01:08But once again, you got two teams that, you know, are not used to being in this spot here.
01:13I mean, it's not like they both have this rich playoff history over the last decade.
01:18Skubal, listen, as good as he is, and this is exactly what Detroit had hoped,
01:23they hoped that, you know, they would have been able to get game two for a win,
01:27but they always knew if they could get it to five, they would have Skubal back on the map.
01:31Well, congratulations, you got him on there.
01:34But the Mariners, it's, they're the one team that has somehow managed to figure out,
01:39okay, Skubal's pitching, big deal.
01:41Well, they've beaten him the last three times that they have faced him.
01:45So it's, they've lost four or five of his last starts here, Skubal.
01:50And for whatever reason, Seattle, once he gets out of the game,
01:54Seattle figures out ways to be able to get it done.
01:57You just, it's hard to trust the bats at Detroit.
02:00I have more faith at home trusting the bats of the Seattle Mariners,
02:04because the less Skubal throws 120 pitches, you know,
02:09they are not taking them out of this game, which means the longer it goes,
02:13the harder it's going to be for Detroit.
02:15I'm with you on that.
02:16I really am with you on that because I do think it's one of those games where like,
02:19Skubal's not one of these delicate pitches.
02:20Like, ooh, once he gets to 85 pitches, you can let him spin.
02:23And there's a good chance that in order to win this game,
02:25even Joe, if we're talking about a three to three game in the eighth inning,
02:29it's got 111 pitches.
02:30They'll let him go another half inning to try to get his way out of this,
02:33as opposed to go to the bullpen.
02:35So maybe a team total hint,
02:36hint that you might be looking a little bit later on for Seattle,
02:39but a fantastic game overall and a favorite to Detroit,
02:42which I agree they should be the favorite, but understand this too.
02:44From the month of starting in August, let's go back to August 1st.
02:47So roughly 60 days plus, you look at these two pitchers, Joe,
02:50some of the best with XFIPs in major league baseball at that time.
02:54George Kirby's ERA is higher than Skubal since August 1st by about two runs,
02:59but his XFIP, Joe, is actually lower.
03:01Who's going to get that key hit tonight?
03:03And also no cheapies.
03:04This isn't citizens bank ballpark.
03:06This isn't Bronx, you know, in the Bronx at Yankee stadium,
03:09you got to get a hold of one against one of these pitchers.
03:12And it just feels like maybe an unsung hero steps up tonight.
03:15Easy to say, right?
03:16Oh, Torkelson will get it.
03:18Or Cal Raleigh is going to get it.
03:19Somebody is going to be an unsung hero tonight in the biggest moments.
03:22And that's what I'd love to see.
03:24Yeah.
03:24Well, and Kirby is always pitched better at home.
03:27His numbers at home are a million times better than on the road because it's a pitcher's park.
03:32And keep in mind, Seattle has been really good at T-Mobile Park there.
03:38162.
03:38100 wins, 62 losses over the last two seasons.
03:42That's the third best home mark in major league baseball over these last two seasons.
03:48They thrive at home.
03:49They've got the arms.
03:51They've got the bullpen.
03:52They have not been worked nearly as much as Detroit has had to work that bullpen since they had to start against the Guardians.
04:00It's, they better be playing from in front early and often.
04:05Otherwise, I just don't see how Seattle doesn't end up grinding out a win here when it's all said and done.
04:11How about a game five on Saturday night?
04:13I was hoping it was going to be my Philadelphia Phillies, but it's not.
04:15It's the Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers at eight o'clock on a Saturday night.
04:18And we don't know who the starting pitchers are going to be for this game.
04:21All hands on deck.
04:23Basically, Joe, a static line listed as a minus 130 favorite towards Milwaukee in a total of seven and a half.
04:29Even though we don't know who the pitchers are, or the vibes are, anything can happen in game number five, or oh no, Milwaukee's going into a shell on offense.
04:35Can they break out?
04:36What are you feeling about this game Saturday night, even if we don't know who the pitchers are?
04:40Yeah, it's kind of tough.
04:41Listen, we don't know who the pitchers are going to be, but quite honestly, the answer is everybody.
04:47Is Cade Horton available to start?
04:50They've been toying with that idea, right?
04:53Again, the Brewers have the more rested bullpen.
04:56The Cubs bullpen has been worked this postseason here.
04:59To me, if the Cubs don't hit home runs, they lose this game.
05:04So, they need to figure out how to get some balls over defense.
05:08Otherwise, the Milwaukee Brewers will not beat themselves.
05:12They'll win this game.
05:13Could it be the winner of the first inning just wins that game and moves on?
