00:00Got to be a real, real hardcore listener of the show to understand this reference.
00:05If you're not, that's okay. I'll explain it in just a second.
00:08But, Dibs, Big Mac, Big Mac!
00:12Yeah.
00:12That's what it sounds like.
00:13Sure.
00:14Again, there's only one practice this week.
00:17Brock did not participate or is not participating.
00:21Neither is Ricky Pearsall, neither is Juwan Jennings.
00:23The Niners sound like they are marching into L.A., a home game, on Thursday night.
00:30Severely limited.
00:32And probably another game for Mac Jones with another patchwork receiving core in a huge football game.
00:41Unfortunate.
00:42But, here we go.
00:43Yep.
00:44It's a short week.
00:45And every time you go into that short week, you know that you're going to be without a certain amount of what you want to go forward with.
00:52But if you're going to be without your starting quarterback, who I'm being told is going to make a lot of money pretty soon,
00:59and you're without wide receiver two, who's become wide receiver one because your one is out,
01:04and your wide receiver two, who has become normally your three, but he's your two and he might be out.
01:09So, you're looking at possibly, possibly.
01:13Possibly.
01:13Mack Jones, Sky Moore, Demarcus Robinson, and...
01:19Kendrick Bourne.
01:20Woo-hoo!
01:21Yeah, I know.
01:22I still put him ahead of Sky Moore.
01:24Is Ronnie Bell available?
01:25He drops the ball less often than Kendrick Bourne.
01:27What happened to them other dudes that were flying around in the practice squad, Demarcus Valdez, Scantlings, and your Russell Gages, and whatever.
01:35Those guys still hanging around?
01:36They might be somewhere.
01:38Also, Trent Taylor was a guy who was kind of, is Tariq Owens available to come out and run around and BTO?
01:46I mean, honestly, what are we doing?
01:49My point, though, is we are now two days and three hours away from kick, and that's kind of what we might be facing.
01:55Maybe.
01:56Tonjes.
01:57Yeah.
01:57McCaffrey.
01:57Farrell.
01:58Hang on to that thing now.
01:59Luke Farrell, that's right.
02:00Squeeze the orange.
02:01Yeah.
02:01Braden Willis, who gets a couple snaps a game.
02:04Brock Purdy just spoke.
02:05Do you want to hear what he had to say?
02:06I'd love to.
02:07This is Brock Purdy asked how he feels.
02:10Simple question.
02:11Hey, Brock, how you feeling?
02:13No, I feel a lot better compared to the week one game for sure.
02:15Toes just a little sore from the game, but nowhere near as bad as after Seattle.
02:20Okay.
02:21So, compares it to week one, says that's not where we are.
02:25I know John Lynch has already publicly said, sort of insinuated, he's like, I don't think this is a big deal.
02:31I get the sense if this were a Sunday game, I think Brock's chances to play in it are pretty decent.
02:37It's the Thursday factor, obviously, that condenses this, makes it really, really hard.
02:42And I know where most people sound like they sit on this, which is that, right, if there's any pushing of it at all, don't do it.
02:50But, I don't really look at it that way.
02:52You and I have talked about this a lot over the last couple of weeks.
02:55This is a monster game.
02:56I think that they're worth a game and a half.
02:58They're division games.
02:59It's a big, big deal.
03:00I know people want to preserve players.
03:02I don't think that exists.
03:04I don't know how you preserve people in the NFL.
03:06Watch the games.
03:07Tyreek Hill may never play again.
03:08You can't preserve people.
03:11So, I more look at it this way.
03:14There are doctors who are paid a lot of money to do this.
03:18If they clear him, I'd play him.
03:21That's it.
03:22If they clear him, I'd play him.
03:25If he can function and they clear him, I'd play him.
03:29I don't know that they're going to do that.
03:31The fact that there's no practice this week for him suggests probably not.
03:36But that's the way I look at it.
03:37It's a monster game.
03:39Would love to have it.
03:39Yeah, it's monster.
03:41And the game a week from Sunday is maybe a little less monster because it's not a divisional game.
03:46But I would actually go the other direction and say, look, we're already 2-0 in the division.
03:51If I can have Brock for sure, quote-unquote, for sure, much more likely to play if he doesn't play Thursday.
03:57He'd be more likely to play in 10 days after Thursday than you're going to Tampa on the road.
04:03And that is not a monster game.
04:06But it's a big game because Tampa's a good team and every game counts for a win or a loss.
04:11And you're already 2-0 in the division.
04:12So you do have a little bit of a buffer in terms of divisional tiebreakers and all the rest of that.
04:19So for me, if it is at all in doubt and Mac Jones is not on the injury report as far as I know, then you play Mac.
04:27Full participation.
04:28And you feel like, you know, Mac can get you in a spot to where you could still win that game with Mac Jones.
04:33Of course.
04:34You're unbeaten as a Niner.
04:36This is true.
04:37That's a stat.
04:38No, you're allowed to go play and win the game.
04:41That's a fact.
04:43By the way, speaking of win the games, quick palate cleanser.
04:47Did you go 2-0 again last night?
04:51Who, me?
04:52Me?
04:53Yeah.
04:54Are you 16-3 this year?
04:57That's what I'm told.
04:5816-3, brother.
04:59Can we all, I'll just take 11 seconds.
05:03Okay.
05:0616-3.
05:08That sounds like it's pretty good.
05:09Jesus, dude.
05:11Hot.
05:12Beyond hot.
05:13What the hell's the matter with you?
05:14Hot.
05:15Like so hot that I'm concerned about the fire alarms in this room.
05:19We might have the sprinklers get activated.
05:20I'm so hot.
05:21Are you doing anything differently?
05:22You eating something?
05:24Are you working out?
05:25Are you waking up at a different time?
05:27What are you doing?
05:29That you need to keep doing.
05:31I'm doing deep dives.
05:33I'm doing a lot of like advanced analytics.
05:36And I'm looking at rest, advantage, disadvantage.
05:39And I'm looking at, you know, home road situations.
05:42Last night was a little, I'm not going to say it was easy because it's never easy.
05:46But Cincinnati is an absolute hot mess.
05:50Yeah.
05:51Denver at home.
05:52Trey Hamilton, get him.
05:54Denver motivated.
05:55Bring him to me.
05:56I thought Denver like motivated to stay in the mix.
05:58The other one, Miami Jets, a little bit of a coin flip.
06:01And so I leaned on the home team and it turns out the Jets are even worse than I thought.
06:05Dude, blazing hot.
06:06I hate to see it because my old neighbors on the coaching staff and they, I mean, you don't
06:11ever want to see a coach get fired anywhere.
06:13But Aaron Glenn, first year, I'm not going to say he's going to be one and done, but if
06:18you go 0-17, all bets are off the table.
06:22So your 20th pick will be the Niner Ram game on Thursday.
06:26So we're already looking forward to that.
06:28Dibs, ladies and gentlemen, if you see him, shake his hand.
06:31He is 16-3, but wear a glove because he's hot.
06:33All right.
06:34More Purdy.
06:34Brock actually said this is not out of the realm of what he thought was going to happen
06:41after he played.
06:42Something that we talked about, playing might, you know, lead to some soreness and stuff.
06:46So I sort of expected it, but, you know, with a quick turnaround Thursday night game and
06:49everything, it's tougher.
06:51I don't have as many days to, you know, get right and heal up and feel better.
06:54So that's where we're at.
06:55Okay.
06:56That's where we're at.
06:57And then he was asked, would it have been better if, you know, like you didn't do that?
07:04How about if you didn't play against the Jaguars and then instead targeted this one?
07:10I was ready to go.
07:11You know, I felt pretty good.
07:12And, you know, for me to go out and execute an offense and go through reads and throw the
07:17ball, like throughout the week at practice, I felt great.
07:19And so I had a lot of confidence going into the game, thinking that was going to be good.
07:22So that was our decision and we're rolling with it.
07:24Okay.
07:25Yeah.
07:25I think that that's been trumpeted all across the organization where it was almost kind of
07:29like, I get the idea of now he's sore.
07:33And so people will say you rushed him back.
07:35And the Niners response to that was, dude, dude, like I didn't feel anything.
07:40Why the hell would you sit if you're like, I'm not in pain?
07:44I'm not in pain.
07:45I get that.
07:46But game speed is a different deal.
07:48People are touching you.
07:50They don't touch you in practice when you're the quarterback.
07:52So I don't know.
07:54You know what I mean?
07:55Do people want to rip the Niners for putting him in there last week?
07:58I think that's silly because don't forget Mac was hurt, too.
08:02He was actually on the injury report.
08:04So I think they went with their healthier quarterback.
08:07Here we are.
08:07Don't know who they're going to go with this week.
08:10And whoever it is is going to have a skeleton crew around him.
08:13And so it's going to be really, really hard, really hard, no matter who it is.
08:17Yeah, exactly.
08:18Not for Brock.
08:18Even a healthy Brock, it would be really, really hard.
08:21Because the Rams defense is very good up front, especially physical.
08:26And you're going to be on a short week.
08:28So even if Brock didn't have the toe issue, I would look at the Ram game.
08:32And I told you this when the schedule came out.
08:34And I looked at games that might be, quote, scheduled losses.
08:38I look at this game.
08:39I look at a trip to Tampa, which is not going to be easy.
08:42Tampa's really good.
08:43And I look at Cleveland before the bye.
08:45And I also looked at Seattle in the opener.
08:47But they were able to get that one.
08:49So this one was always going to be tough, even though it's Levi South.
08:52And the crowd won't be a big factor.
08:54It's a short week against a very good defense.
08:57And a quarterback who, I don't know what he's doing with his back.
09:01But his back is fine.
09:02I heard him this morning on Pat McAfee.
09:05And he was talking about how, yeah, in the preseason, I had a little bit of a back thing.
09:09But now I'm feeling great.
09:10And he sure looks good.
09:12And he is just, that ball comes out quick.
09:15Yeah, if you don't, listen, we've watched this.
09:18We've seen this movie before.
09:20He's accurate.
09:20If you do not rush Matt Stafford, he going to eat you up.
09:26You'll be the Thanksgiving turkey.
09:28He'll be the electric knife.
09:29So Sal is going to have to come up with something.
09:32Because he's also really good against the blitz.
09:34So don't make it as simple as just like, well, just get Fred going.
09:38Send Fred.
09:40He's really good.
09:41This is a veteran with a rocket arm, really smart, has seen it all, knows the Niners by
09:47now.
09:48So this is a hell of a challenge, no matter who plays.
09:52So we'll see.
09:53Like, I don't really have a strong opinion outside of like, what do the Niners doctors
09:58think?
09:59And if he can play, I'd play him.
10:01And I hear you if you disagree, but.
10:03Yeah, I disagree.
10:04I know, but you know me.
10:05Like, I'm just not getting into how guys' bodies feel.
10:08Because I have no idea.
10:09We're not doctors.
10:10We're not experts.
10:11We're not there.
10:13I don't think the Niners are so stupid that they're going to put Brock in harm's way
10:17for the season.
10:18Yep.
10:18I don't think they're going to do that.
10:19They won't.
10:19They're not dumb.
10:20Matt Mayocco had this on Twitter about a half an hour ago.
10:24Could Brock Purdy play if the Niners played tonight?
10:26He answered, tonight?
10:28No.
10:29But I have two days.
10:31So.
10:31But I looked at my watch, and we don't play tonight.
10:34I got two days.
10:35Yeah.
10:35So there's that, and ultimately it won't be a decision made by, oh boy, will Brock get
10:43hurt again?
10:44You're right.
10:45If Brock is cleared to play, he plays.
10:47I just would love to see him chill for an extra 10 days and let that toe quiet all the way
10:53down.
10:54Look, and I get that.
10:55I really do.
10:56Like, we're sitting here on Tuesday afternoon, and if he's saying he couldn't play if the
11:00game were right now, and the game is in 50 hours, 51 hours, and you only get one practice,
11:07and he didn't participate in it, it feels like he's probably going to sit.
11:11However, there's one more from Purdy.
11:13Check it out.
11:14This is an interesting one.
11:16Hey, Brock, you know all those overthrows on Sunday?
11:21Was that the toe?
11:22Was that because you couldn't plant?
11:24Still, I don't really know.
11:25I miss the throws on film and everything, but is it something that had to do with my toe
11:29and whatnot?
11:30I couldn't tell you at this point.
11:32I'm still trying to get better and feel good with my toe and everything, but I think down
11:36the road, after I feel 100% and good to go, start throwing the ball, maybe I can come
11:40back and answer that question, but right now, I still don't know.
11:43Okay, I'd like to give a shot at translating that.
11:46Let me see what you think.
11:47Yes.
11:49I still don't know.
11:50No, yes.
11:50That means the answer is yes, but I don't want to say that into a microphone because
11:53that's soft.
11:55Right.
11:56We don't do that in pro sports.
11:58That's what would come out in week five and tell everybody that, oh yeah, my toe hurt,
12:02so that's why I missed my throws.
12:04Like that, that won't play.
12:06But he also didn't say no, which tells me he thinks the answer is yes.
12:11Right.
12:11And also, you don't want to let the Rams know that, yeah, it's the toe, because if I'm
12:15a Rams defensive lineman, I'm not going to rough the quarterback, but I might try and
12:19stomp a foot for sure.
12:21Absolutely.
12:21If he's out there.
12:22Of course, the football player.
12:23Right.
12:23Right.
12:24Good boy.
12:25Well, let's do that.
