00:00Six and a hook.
00:02I mean...
00:04Six and a hook Thursday night it is up to.
00:06Yeah, it's a big number.
00:07Niners are flirting with being a touchdown dog on Thursday night,
00:13which the latest bump, likely a reaction to what feels like today's news
00:21pushing us toward the idea of another Mac Jones start.
00:26Yeah, you would figure.
00:27I think it's more than that.
00:28But I think it's also a...
00:30And Pearsall and Jennings.
00:31That's what I think.
00:32And again, we talked to John Avello, who sets the number at DraftKings,
00:37and we talked about home field advantage and what it's worth.
00:41And we didn't get into the specifics of L.A.,
00:43but I would guess that the L.A. Niner home field advantage is nonexistent.
00:48I don't think that the Rams, they might get a point for being home against the Niners.
00:52Yeah, I wonder what their normal home bump is,
00:55and is it different when it's the Niners?
00:57It's absolutely different.
00:58You were talking about vivid seats during the break,
01:00where it's going to be more than three-fifths of every fan is going to be a Niner fan.
01:04And we know that.
01:0561-62% is the word online in terms of the number of tickets going to Niner fans for this game on Thursday night.
01:13I do think that the line movement is part Brock Purdy, yes,
01:16but it's also no Pearsall, maybe no Jennings.
01:19We don't know, as of now, what the official report's going to be.
01:24But you talked yesterday about the Rams, and they had five guys on their injury list,
01:28and you might have heard of one of them.
01:31One of them's an offensive lineman, and beyond that, it's like...
01:34Tyler Higby, like their tight end, you know.
01:36Yeah, no, no, the Rams are healthy, and the Rams are good, and the Rams are playing well.
01:40And they've beaten the Colts and the Eagles, and that...
01:43Well, they didn't beat the Eagles, but they kind of beat the Eagles, you know what I'm saying.
01:46They were right there, played great in Philadelphia for most of that game.
01:49And then they beat the Colts last week.
01:51These were really tight games.
01:53But yeah, the Rams are good.
01:54The Rams are going to be hard to beat, and the Niners are clearly not at their best.
01:58And whether that's just about the quarterback or not, it's not.
02:01So, yeah, I get it.
02:03But that number is flying in an upward direction right now.
02:06Rams, six-and-a-half-point favorite.
02:08A couple more from Brock Purdy after what we already played for you earlier.
02:13This is about simply the Niners, and if it's Purdy or Matt,
02:17going up against the difficult Rams defensive line.
02:21Very talented.
02:22I feel like they've got some young guys, man, that are just playing passionate right now
02:25and are disruptive across the board.
02:27And their scheme as a whole is really good.
02:30And I feel like they're really comfortable playing with each other right now.
02:33And so, as a whole, it's going to be a great challenge for us.
02:35We've got to have answers and not obviously hold on to the ball too long,
02:38get the ball out, be smart with it, and at the end of the day,
02:41understand we're playing against a really good pass rush
02:43and got to find ways to win still.
02:45But we respect them a lot.
02:46Okay.
02:47And then they got back to his playing status,
02:49and they pushed him a little bit on this idea of playing Thursday.
02:52He was asked if no practice today, if it's fair to then call him doubtful for Thursday.
02:58Honestly, Thursday night football games are, you know, they come quick.
03:01So, anything can happen.
03:03But I'm still hopeful that I can.
03:05So, we'll see.
03:05Sounds like a yes.
03:08Anything can happen.
03:10Right.
03:10You know, that would suggest that, yeah, the heavy favorite is Mac Jones on Thursday night.
03:15And, you know, there's no more doubtful.
03:17So, if there were a doubtful, he probably would be doubtful, I would guess.
03:21And so, doubtful usually means outful.
03:24I don't know how, like historically, the percentage of players who go from doubtful to in,
03:29it's about not 1 in 10, but maybe 1 in 25.
03:32It's very, very rare.
03:34And he only has two more days.
03:35And the toe is not great.
03:36And so, I do think the prudent thing to do is to lay back and save Brock for Tampa Bay.
03:42Not that you can't win with a gimpy Brock in L.A.
03:46You can.
03:47Can you go forward with Mac Jones against L.A. on a short week?
03:51Well, yeah.
03:52And it's not a short week for Mac because he didn't play on Sunday.
03:55So, when you talk about a short week, and if you don't have Pearsall or Jennings,
03:59and we don't know for sure, well, it's no longer a short week really for Sky Moore,
04:04who didn't play a ton.
04:05And, you know, Demarcus Robinson in a homecoming game, he didn't play a ton.
04:10And the one guy I'm looking for, and we'll get into this with Greg Cosell a little bit,
04:14although he doesn't like to talk about anything other than the film,
04:16but 10 snaps for Brian Robinson.
04:19So, if you don't have Pearsall and you don't have Jennings, unofficial,
04:23but if that's the way it goes, then if I'm Kyle Shanahan,
04:27I look at Christian McCaffrey and say, guess what?
04:30You are now Julian Edelman.
04:32You're going to go play the slot a bunch.
04:33I mean, he has been already anyway.
04:36Right, the majority of his touches.
04:37And I did a deep dive on his week four touches,
04:40and we can get into it as we continue to go through the tape on the loss to Jacksonville.
04:45But you're right, Mark.
04:46Again, as many targets almost as carries.
04:50And why not have Brian Robinson Jr. out there?
04:53Go double Robinsons out there.
04:54I mean, we have not seen as much of it as I thought we would.
04:57So, yeah, I'm with you.
04:59Hey, a couple from Kyle Shanahan.
05:01First, this was a little back and forth here about the decision to play Brock.
05:06Will the decision to play Brock come down to pain tolerance?
05:08No, it'll come down to do we feel he could play to 100% of his ability,
05:13and do we feel that he can protect himself with it?
05:16Okay, so that's Shanahan on what will kind of lead the decision there.
05:22And then he was also asked if Purdy was told last Sunday to not scramble.
05:28No, he wasn't told that.
05:30You know, they said it was my first time dealing with people with a toe injury like that.
05:35I was trying to ask if it was like a high ankle sprain,
05:37like is it something you just keep zinging over and over?
05:40They said, no, it's not like that.
05:41If you ever got caught in an awkward position on a tackle is where you could hurt your toe again.
05:46But it doesn't work like an ankle or anything like that.
05:48And I think they got him on that when they took him down.
05:51So whether it's scrambling or just getting tackled was kind of the worry of it.
05:54Okay, so not told to not scramble, but he might have been hesitant.
05:58Who knows?
05:59No idea what he was feeling during the game.
06:01He didn't report anything until after the game.
06:04And then one more from Brock, and I think this is kind of what a lot of people are saying.
06:08Look, if you skip this one, you get that mini bye.
06:12So are you motivated by the fact that if you take one more game off,
06:16you get a full week and a half before you play again?
06:20100%.
06:20If I can play this game, I'm going to play.
06:22And obviously, you know, I want to get right and get healthy and everything.
06:25But we need to win this game against the Rams.
06:27So that's how I'm looking at it.
06:28Okay, and see, that's kind of where I am.
06:30I like when I, I just, that's the way my brain works on this.
06:34The idea of preserving people for later, I think is a projection that we can't count on.
06:40I get where you're coming from.
06:41I really do.
06:42I don't think Brock is going to play on Thursday.
06:45Right.
06:45I think it's unlikely.
06:47But I'd still be open to it, even knowing what we know.
06:50If the doctors clear him, if they feel like he can play well, if he can do his job,
06:55he's the starting quarterback of the Niners, and it's a huge game, and I'd play him.
06:59Yeah.
06:59That's all.
07:00I understand that, but, I mean, it's a huge game, but let's just say that he either plays
07:05or doesn't play, and you lose.
07:07Well, now the Tampa Bay game is equally huge, because if you lose that, now you're 3-3.
07:12And now that great 3-0 start and 2-0 in the division, well, now you'd be 2-1 in the division,
07:18and you would be, what, 3-2 in the conference, which is also a tiebreaker as you get further
07:23down the road.
07:23So a loss to the Rams, no matter whether or not he plays or he sits, that makes the
07:29Tampa Bay game even bigger.
07:30Now, if you beat the Rams and he sits, well, the Tampa Bay game is no longer as big.
07:36You'd be 4-1, 3-0 in the division, sitting pretty.
07:40I mean, you wouldn't be sitting totally great.
07:42Yeah, they're all big.
07:43They're all big.
07:44But the division games are bigger, and I agree with Brock on that.
07:47But if you lose this one, Brock or no Brock, the Tampa Bay game becomes bigger in my eyes,
07:53because now you would be in a three-game losing streak, and if you lose that, now you're 3-3,
07:59and you're kind of stuck in a spot.
08:01I get it.
08:02I just, I always think that, like, there's one game on the schedule, and it's a huge game.
08:06And the next one.
08:07Yeah, and that's how they look at it.
08:09Sure.
08:09You know, I don't know that sitting or playing, by the way, if you play Thursday, you also
08:15still get a week and a half off in order to get ready for Tampa Bay.
08:18I understand that it could hurt more, but it might not hurt more.
08:22But if you don't play, then you end up getting two weeks off.
08:24Right.
08:25I understand that.
08:26And, like, he got three weeks off last time and thought he was 100%, and then went out
08:31and it started hurting again.
08:33So he could get two weeks off this time, and the exact same thing could happen at Tampa
08:38Bay in a week and a half.
08:39So.
