00:00The ties of Washington to the Miami Mafia linked to drug trafficking and corruption in the continent.
00:14In Argentina, President Milley publicly admitted to corruption in his administration amid serious accusations involving close relatives.
00:26And the Israeli attack on the Nasser hospital in the Gaza Strip, which killed 20 Palestinians, has sparked world condemnation.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
00:56We begin with the news.
01:06Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro denounced the ties of Washington to the Miami Mafia linked to drug trafficking and corruption in the continent.
01:14During his program with Maduro Mas, the President stated that this group, led by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, could lead the White House to the worst possible scenario for Latin America and the Caribbean.
01:26He also pointed out that the United States official is leading a psychological and political war against countries in the region.
01:33Moreover, the Venezuelan head of state also analyzed Rubio's role in the colonialist plans of the United States for the region.
01:45So a warmongering state that wants to impose a new hegemony of domination today, but cannot, will not be able to.
01:59And the other thing I told you I hadn't said, and is what I'm going to say today for the first time. A prime exclusive. Maybe. The fact is that the Miami Mafia, which hates Venezuela, hates Latin America, and would like to be like the colonial mafia of the continent linked to all the corruption and drug trafficking, has the power in Washington.
02:23In this context, Venezuela accused the United States government of resorting to nuclear intimidation in the Caribbean region.
02:33In an official communique, Venezuela's permanent mission to the United Nations said its government was obliged to inform about the escalation of hostile actions and threats from the government of the United States of America,
02:45America, which now include the deployment of additional warships to the Caribbean, including the USS Lake Erie, a guided missile cruiser, and the USS Newport News, a fast attack nuclear submarine, which is expected to arrive on Venezuelan coasts at the beginning of next week, as confirmed by various international sources.
03:06The Venezuelan government also denounced with the greatest firmness this deployment, as it constitutes a serious threat to regional peace and security.
03:15It also stressed that the presence of nuclear submarines of an offensive nature in the Latin American and Caribbean region contradicts the historical commitment of our nations and peoples to avoid the use of weapons and to the peaceful solution of disputes,
03:31and it represents a clear act of intimidation contrary to the letter and spirit of the United Nations.
03:38The Bolivarian nation also reminded that Latin America and the Caribbean have been declared a nuclear weapon-free zone through the Treaty of Tratelolco, whose protocol was ratified by the United States in 1971, thus committing itself to fully respect the nuclear weapon-free character of the region.
03:58And we stay in Venezuela, where the Christian evangelical community gathered in Caracas to pray for peace and defend national sovereignty in the face of the threesome threat from Washington against the country.
04:16Details with our colleague Michelle Ramirez from Caracas.
04:19Religious movements gathered at Plaza Bolivar in Caracas, where they raised a pray for peace in the country.
04:26The prayer is for peace, the meeting is for the peace of our nation, because apart from God there is nothing, regardless of what other people may do, here the government of our nation is in the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ.
04:38With songs, hymns and dances they remembered that the country has been and is a nation that advocates for peace.
04:49This is a call to the entire international world, that here is a people clamoring for peace in our country, and that it is a people who work for the nation in favor of all, regardless of political parties.
05:04During the meeting, various religious leaders, pastors, and activists expressed their support for the government of President Maduro.
05:11We have seen that the North has wanted to rise up against us, against this noble people, holy to God, and we are praying, not only for our nation, but also for the rulers.
05:25Religious attendants reiterated that the people of this country continue to be firm, united and resistant, and announced a series of meetings and activities for world peace.
05:36We go now to Ecuador, where the president of the National Union of Educators denounced the serious international threats posed by Donald Trump's government, particularly against the Venezuelan people and government.
05:53Well, first my solidarity with the peoples, and with the Venezuelan people.
06:02It is clear that the Trump government at the international level, it is not the truth.
06:06The properties of Maduro, are the properties of the Venezuelan people, and that is what they do not say.
06:11Second, there is a number of military personnel, mobilized by the government of the United States, more than 4,000 members of the armed forces of the United States, mostly marines that are advancing towards the maritime border of our brother country.
06:24What they are looking for is clearly to take over the oil wells of Venezuela once again.
06:29Humanity knows that Venezuela is the country with more oil reserves, more than Saudi Arabia.
06:34Here they are not looking for peace or confrontation with drug trafficking.
06:38Here we are dealing with geopolitics to take over the wealth of Venezuela, and as Ecuadorian people, it is superfluous to point out that we demand the self-determination they have.
06:48Also in this context, Panamanian citizens expressed their rejection to the intimidation policy used by the United States government against countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
07:03Talking about peace is a threat to the military industrial complexes, and we believe that the countries of our region have no reason to arm themselves against each other.
07:14The issue of drug trafficking has been used. We do not see, as the United States says, that a cartel has been dismantled in the United States.
07:22There are no cartels in the United States. How is it possible that the cartels are in Mexico, which is part of our countries, and that they have to deploy troops near the coasts of Venezuela to use intimidation policies? That is unacceptable.
07:35And there we see the importance of a patriotic struggle being waged in Panama for sovereignty, so that our territory is not used to violate the sovereignty and independence rights of other Latin American nations, so that Latin America being a territory of peace is, not simply a pawn in the imperial struggles of the United States in the world.
07:57Well, the United States uses the excuse of what they themselves are that they are the owners of the cartels, the kings of the cartels, the biggest money launderers, but their pretext for invading countries is always narcoterrorism, and they always justify the unjustifiable. They pressure countries that submit to their policies, looking for ways to intimidate them.
08:21And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember, you can join us on TikTok at Telesur English, where you'll find news in different formats, news updates and more. We'll be right back. Stay with us.
08:34Looking for you.
08:35Welcome back to From the South. In Argentina, the government faces serious corruption charges involving close relatives of President Javier Millet. In this context, Millet publicly admitted that there is corruption in his administration.
08:57Numerous Argentine media outlets described the president's admission as the first reference to the corruption scandal that directly involves his sister, Carina Millet, implicated by the then director of the National Disability Agency, Diego Españolo, in the collection of bribes related to the purchase of medicines.
09:17These findings have negatively impacted the president's popularity as the stolen money was intended for the purchase of medical treatment for cancer patients, people with disabilities, and the elderly.
09:37They are disconnected from reality and the will of the people that they constantly push forward with proposals whose sole objective is to increase public spending and return us to the disastrous path of fiscal deficit.
09:47That is why I say they are annoyed because we are stealing their stolen goods.
09:52On Argentina's air traffic controllers continue with the third day of national strike affecting all airports in the country after failing to reach a wage agreement with the national government.
10:04The Association of Air Navigation Protection of Safety Technicians and Employees, a TEPSA, specified that the strike does not include medical humanitarian and search and rescue flights.
10:16The initiative against the government of Javier Millet paralysed 178 flights and another 295 scheduled trips.
10:25In this regard, the National Transportation Secretariat warned that companies that responded to the call for a strike could be sanctioned with fines and disqualification from the concession.
10:37In other information, Banco do Brasil formally accused former President Haider Bolsonaro's allies, including his son Eduardo Bolsonaro, of spreading false rumors on social media to destabilize the state-owned financial institution.
10:55The complaint filed with the Attorney General's Office reported that messages were posted saying the bank would be kicked out of the SWIFT international payment system.
11:05In this regard, the institution rejected these allegations and warned that it would take legal action to defend its reputation.
11:13It also pointed out that it operates in strict compliance with Brazilian law, international regulations and the regulations of more than 20 countries where it has a presence.
11:24In the United States, District Magistrate Paula Sinis blocked the deportation of Salvadoran Siris and Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda.
11:38The court order absolutely prohibits the deportation. Abrego Garcia was arrested after being released from an immigration center in Tennessee.
11:46His defense argues that this is retaliation by Trump's administration because Abrego refused to be deported to El Salvador last March.
11:56The victim has expressed his preference to be sent to Costa Rica whose government has shown a willingness to grant him legal status.
12:04The Salvadoran citizen expressed his fear of being deported to Uganda, a destination that has no connection to his country of origin.
12:12President Donald Trump has fired Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook citing allegations related to mortgage documents.
12:26Cook appointed by President Biden in 2022 and the first black woman on the FED board has denied the allegations and said Trump has no legal authority to fire her.
12:39She indicated she would not resign and is gathering information to respond to any legitimate questions about her financial history.
12:47This action is unprecedented in the Federal Reserve's 111-year history and has raised legal and institutional questions about the President's power to remove FED governors.
12:59Experts suggest that this could prompt legal challenges as the FED is designed to operate independently to help maintain economic stability.
13:08The President of the United States Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Defense to prepare to suppress disturbances in the country and decree the creation of specialized units with the National Guard while concern grows over the breakdown of democratic balance.
13:31The decree instructs Secretary of Defense Peter Hesseth to create units specifically trained and equipped to handle public order incidents while threatening states with democratic governors with massive deployments.
13:46It assures that he will request Congress to approve laws concerning these specialized units and he also speculated about the possibility of changing the Department of Defense to the Department of War.
13:57Meanwhile, civil rights organizations are warning about the seriousness of these measures and the risk that they could generate even more internal conflicts.

14:37Welcome back to From the South.
14:39Colombian President Gustavo Petro questioned former President Iván Duque for his recent meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
14:47Former Colombian President Duque outlined on his social media the investment and trade agenda that both countries promoted during his administration.
14:56In response, President Petro stated the following,
15:00They do not care that there is genocide, that people are dying of hunger, that children are being bombed.
15:06They have done the same in Colombia. They have lost their hearts.
15:10Colombia broke off diplomatic relations with Israel in May 2024 in protest against Israel's offensive in Gaza.
15:17Let's talk about Palestine. The authorities of this nation reported that at least 70 Palestinians were killed and another 370 wounded.
15:35in the Gaza Strip in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours as part of Israel's genocide.
15:50Moreover, the authorities indicated that the number of Palestinians killed by Israel has risen to almost 62,820 since the escalation of Israeli attacks in October 2023.
16:05In this context, the emergency services warned that the death toll figure is higher since they are still unable to reach many of the victims and bodies dropped under the rubble of the Zionist strikes throughout the enclave.
16:17Furthermore, they denounced the ongoing Israeli attacks on emergency personnel, ambulances and civil defense teams.
16:30The recent Israeli attack on the Nasser hospital in the Gaza Strip has sparked world condemnation.
16:35On Monday, the Zionist regime bombed the Palestinian health facility twice, deliberately murdering 20 people, among them civilians, members of the rescue corps and five journalists.
16:46The strikes have triggered worldwide outrage being repudiated by the governments of Spain, Australia, France, Canada and Ireland,
16:54as well as the Foreign Press Federation and countless human rights organizations.
16:59The attacks on the only functioning hospital in the Palestinian enclave have been labeled as an accident by Prime Minister Benjamin Eranyahu,
17:06who is under arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for several war crimes committed in Gaza.
17:13In this context, numerous journalists have expressed their repudiation to several Western news agencies for the lack of coverage of the assassination of their colleagues.
17:22The United Nations organization ordered an investigation on Tuesday into the Zionist attack on Al Nasser hospital in the Gaza Strip that killed 20 people, including five journalists.
17:40The international organization said that the investigations must be carried out thoroughly and independently,
17:47and accused the Eranyahu regime of maintaining a campaign of ethnic cleansing in the Palestinian enclave.
17:53After almost two years of genocide, Tel Aviv is moving ahead with its extermination plans in Palestine,
18:00leaving in its wake more than 62,700 dead, mostly women and children.
18:06The United Nations special reporter on the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, condemned the murder of journalists in Gaza at the hands of the Israeli regime,
18:23and denounced the lack of international response before the Zionist crimes.
18:28It's all not different, though, from the thousands of abominable incidents that I've seen over the past years.
18:42It's incredible the violence that has been unleashed against the Palestinians.
18:47And yesterday, the reason why we are talking about this specific incident, this specific massacre, is because it was televised.
18:57It happened in the real time, and it was so consequential, with the army hitting twice, the hospital,
19:10and now there are speculations. Israel cannot deny to have done it because it was filmed.
19:16Why did they hit a hospital in the first place, and why did they hit it when there were rescuers and journalists on top of patients and medical personnel?
19:28This is what Israel is doing in the occupied Palestinian territory.
19:31So it's shocking, and it's even more shocking that there is no robust political response.
19:44States must immediately send their presence.
19:50They need to send the navies with humanitarian aid to Gaza.
19:56The Qatari government has called on the international community to put pressure on Israel to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
20:05The spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majed Al Ansari, explained that the Israeli regime has not responded to the new proposals on ending hostilities in the Palestinian enclave.
20:17In this regard, Al Ansari reiterated that the proposed agreement meets 98% of the requirements set by Tel Aviv in previous days
20:26and has already been approved by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
20:30Since October 2023, the Sianist army has killed more than 62,800 Palestinians and left more than 158,000 wounded.
20:43In other information, Australia declared Iranian Ambassador Ahmad Saddiqi, President Anongrara,
20:53and ordered him to and three other Iranian officials to leave the country within seven days.
20:59Teheran called the move unjustified and influenced by internal political developments.
21:05The decision comes after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Tuesday without providing any proof that Iran has behind anti-Jewish attacks in the country last October and December.
21:16The action also comes as Australia's ties with Israel plummet over its criticisms of Israeli-imposed famine and the war on Gaza,
21:24as well as its decision to join France, the United Kingdom and Canada in recognizing a Palestinian state at the United Nations General Assembly in September.
21:34For its part, the Iranian government has categorically denied the accusations and vowed to react reciprocally to the measure.
21:47Basically, any inappropriate and unjustified action on diplomatic level will have a reciprocal reaction.
21:58This development is a new one.
22:00My colleagues are reviewing the issue to decide on the way to respond to this.
22:05But the accusation that is made is absolutely rejected.
22:09In Vietnam, authorities reported that Typhoon Kajiki left three dead, ten injured, and at least ten thousand homes damaged.
22:18Nearly three hundred and fifty thousand military personnel were deployed to deal with the aftermath of the powerful Typhoon.
22:24The typhoon hit the territory with winds of up to 117 km per hour and heavy rains leading to river overflows and landslides.
22:43The strong storm affected thousands of hectares of crop fuels and left more than one million people without power and water services.
22:56Over five hundred thousand people were evacuated to prevent a major tragedy.
23:07On Monday, the head of the Chinese parliament, Shao Leji, called on his country's National People's Congress to strengthen cooperation with the Federal Assembly of Russia.
23:16The also president of the 10th meeting of the Russia-China Committee, Shao Leji, assured that cooperation between China and Russia has been shown to have complementary strengths and immense potential.
23:29In the context of a meeting with the president of the Russian Duma, the head of the Chinese parliament urged both parties to maintain the positive momentum of close exchanges, improve mutual understanding and trust, and consolidate the political basis of solidarity.
23:47For its part, the Russian legislator welcomed the proposal of his Chinese counterpart and assured that his country is willing to strengthen and deepen ties with the Chinese legislative body
23:58and with all institutions in the country.
