04:57pressuring and demanding the extension of their permits to continue operating in certain mines.
05:03In response, Peruvian delegates discussed the possibility of extending a temporary permit until the end of 2027,
05:10and reinstating 50,000 miners who had previously been declared illegal.
05:15These permits for artisanal miners were last issued in 2016,
05:18and, although they have been extended on several occasions, they require new approval by the plenary.

07:28Welcome back!
07:29This November 25th marks the 9th anniversary of the physical disappearance of the historical leader of the Q&A revolution, Fidel Castro Cruz,
07:49one of the greatest figures of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.
07:53It was his wish that no school, hospital or public work be named after him, nor he did want monuments in his honor.
08:07He did not want his figure to become an object of worship.
08:10This is how the island looked and felt in the first days after his death.
08:14Very bad, my neighbor called me Idalmis, Fidel died, I couldn't believe it, I've been crying and crying, I can't sleep, I'm on pills.
08:27Today I had to send for medication, but I feel terrible because he… we were born with this revolution.
08:34That's who knew him, say that he was not afraid of criticism, nor he was dogmatic. He felt most comfortable among the people.
08:44The part of Fidel that we need to rescue for upcoming battles, in my opinion, is not his candor, his humanism, his sensitivity towards people.
09:02All of that is important, but that is not where we should be placing our emphasis because the context that is approaching is much more complicated, the disputes are much more complex.
09:14It seems to me that the Fidel most needed for the times we are living in Cuba and in Latin America is the most subversive, most radical Fidel.
09:22He once said that the revolution would be a difficult and dangerous undertaking. However, those who were close to him assure us that he never knew of fear.
09:33Nine years after his death, this is how he lives on in the imagination of Cuban children.
09:38His personality, his culture, he is cultured, he is good, kind.
09:43But you speak of Fidel in the present tense, as if he were still alive. Why?
09:47Because even though he is dead, to us he never died.
09:50Even if you don't believe it, Fidel is always by our side teaching us, and we are always learning things about him, even though he is no longer alive, but he is morally in the hearts of all children.
10:08On December 2011, he entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the person who was most attempted to be assassinated.
10:15From 1959 to 2000, 638 times, he challenged no less than 10 US presidents.
10:25They say he was strategist like few others in the history of humanity.
10:30Hated by some and venerated by others.
10:34What many agree on is that he was an irremediable dreamer who was definitely victorious.
10:41Fabiola López, Tele Sur, La Habana.
10:50Moving now to Honduras.
10:52The National Electoral Council, CNE, on Monday continue with the transfer of the material that will be used in the general elections scheduled for Sunday.
11:00Over 6.5 million citizens are called to the polls to elect the successor to President Xiomara Castro, in a process that will set the political course for the Central American country.
11:13The CNE emphasized that the election materials are being distributed to the various departments and municipalities, ensuring that the polling station has the ballot, ballot boxes and equipment necessary for voting.
11:26The elections will determine not only the new president but also three presidential appointees, 298 mayors, 128 deputies to the National Congress and 20 to the Central American Parliament.
11:39Honduras on the Move is a journalistic series by TELESUR that covers various regions of the Central American nation to show the world's stories of success and human development.
12:07On this occasion, our Special Envoy Roberto Hugo Presa and the series production team traveled to the Department of Comayagua, where they got a first-hand look at the coffee production project led by women.
12:20In the upper part of the Central Western region of Honduras is the Department of Comayagua, amidst clouds and mountains lies La Libertad, a small municipality dedicated to growing coffee.
12:33And amidst the coffee plantations, we met Leticia and Valesca, two coffee producers who are running successful enterprises.
12:39It is something that has been exclusive to men, but today women have been gradually making our way into this sector, which I am very proud to belong to and also to represent as a woman.
12:56I have been involved in this production process for about 10 years now, because I manage everything. I bring the people, I go to find the cutters, I work with them, and I even cut coffee with them.
13:11These women not only manage their crops on their farm, but have now moved on to producing and marketing their own brand.
13:23What we have always done as a family is grow coffee. But now we also have our own coffee brand and we also have a coffee shop where we serve our coffee.
13:34The example, the tenacity and the success of these producers have inspired many women whom they have helped in their enterprises.
13:42Many women come here and we share. We do a lot of training. And we also share our conversations as women.
13:53I am not only making an impact on other women, but also on my daughters. I have two daughters and I want to leave them with the legacy that coffee is part of our culture and that they too can and are capable of doing it.
14:06These women are part of a cooperative that promotes the development of the golden grain in Comayagua, a department that leads the country's production of nearly 15 million quintals per year.
14:18Coffee is exported from Comayagua. And in addition to that, the agro industry is being promoted to great extent, which is about adding value to the product, to coffee. Today, many people already have their own coffee brands and coffee shops.
14:34And they sell coffee products. This makes us very proud because we as a country also have to encourage this added value and not just the sale of raw materials.
14:46The government supports coffee producers. The coffee growers bonus program has benefited thousands of small coffee growers with supplies. And now they're ready to deliver tools from a donation by the Chinese government valued at 200 million dollars.
15:01A kit for textile handling that includes a chainsaw, a chopper, a cedar and a motor pump, which are key tools that help us with fumigation against rust, wheat and tissue handling, which is very important on coffee farms.
15:24The kits will also be sent to production companies in La Libertad as an incentive to continue growing.

17:20Meanwhile, the Israeli settlers in the West Bank have shown alarming public support for estrategicial killings, collective punishment and the use of human shields by the Israelis, which violate international humanitarian law.
17:33According to a recent survey by the Israel Democracy Institute, 600 Jewish Israeli settlers revealed strange militaristic views amid the ongoing assault on Gaza and intensified aggression, ethnic cleansing and forced displacement across the West Bank.
17:50The poll shows that 62% of Jewish Israeli settlers believe that a Palestinian fighter should be killed, even if they pose no threat.
17:59Over 55% of those respondents supported the use of heavy firepower on Palestinian population centers following rugged attacks, indicating broad public support for war crimes.
18:11In Vietnam, floods have left over 40 people dead, dozens displaced and serious damage to infrastructure and property in the south and centre of the country.
18:36According to the latest reports, 72,000 citizens were displaced and more than 52,000 homes were damaged.
18:45Rescue teams are working to locate nine missing people, in addition to the landslides that have caused the closure of several major roads and power attaches, affecting more than one million people.
18:56In the city of Nyashun, soldiers and rescuers transferred to residents to safe areas, while providing essential supplies, including drinking water and food to those affected.
19:09Moving to the United States, a line of severe storms in Harris County, Texas damaged homes caught powers to thousands and triggered tornado warnings Monday.
19:26Aerial footage from ABC 13 showed significant damage to a number of homes, along with scattered debris.
19:33The station said severe winds and an isolated tornado continued to be possible into the evening.
19:39Forecasters warned of flooding rain and the possibility of severe thunderstorms Monday from Texas to Arkansas and Louisiana into the Mississippi.
19:48By Monday evening, more than 1,000 flights into and out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport were delayed and over 100 cancelled, according to the flight tracking site FlightAware.
20:00In other news, the Heilegubi volcano, located in northeast Ethiopia, erupted for several hours for the first time in almost 12,000 years.
20:16The volcano, which spouted thick columns of smoke, is located about 800 kilometers northeast of Addis Ababa, the capital, leaving the nearby village of Fafelda cover in Naos.
20:28The columns of smoke cover Yemen, Oman, India and northern Pakistan as well.
20:33The authorities did not report any victims caused by the eruption.
20:37However, the eruption could have economic consequences for the livestock carriers who live in the area.
20:43To date, the Afar authorities have not declared the number of people displaced.
20:47Moving on to Sudan, the army rejected the peace mediation proposed by the United States, describing it as a bias and in favor of paramilitary groups.
21:06In a speech to the nation, the top military leader, Abdel Fattah al-Buran, said that the US plan also favors the United Arab Emirates, a country accused of supporting rapid support forces in Sudan.
21:19He also denounced the proposal to dismantle the armed forces, stating that this process would leave rebel militias in control of their zones, which he described as a call for the division of Sudan.
21:30In this regard, the military leadership stated that they had delivered their own conditions for stopping the conflict to the mediators, demanding the total withdrawn of the paramilitaries from the old cities, and the exclusion of the United Arab Emirates from the group of peacekeepers.
21:49And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
