00:00If you're a real Dolphins fan, you're proud of this team.
00:04They played well, but you're also concerned about a few things,
00:07including the quarterback, whose decision-making has been a little slower than you'd like.
00:12If you're a real Patriots fan, you're probably at the game leaving right now pretty wet,
00:17but you're pretty happy because you found a way to win, especially in the second half.
00:20If you're a fake Patriots fan, we still want to hear from you.
00:23305-567-0560.
00:25Back to the phone lines, 104.3 FM, WQAM.
00:28What's your name? Where are you calling from?
00:31Go ahead.
00:32Hello?
00:33Yeah, go ahead.
00:34Hey, this is Joey in Texas.
00:36Joey, what part of Texas?
00:39We're southwest of Houston out in Hungerford.
00:41We call in all the time.
00:42Me and my son called.
00:44Oh, yeah, what's up, man?
00:45Howdy.
00:46Big pimp it.
00:46Go ahead.
00:47Howdy, man.
00:48Hey, if any of y'all want to mail me those Dolphin tickets instead of giving to these damn Patriot
00:52fans,
00:53we'd die to go to a damn game over there.
00:55We'd like some real Dolphins fans in the house.
00:57Thank you, Joe.
00:58I mean, it's embarrassing.
00:59It's embarrassing.
01:00I was listening to Joe Rose on the radio, and all I hear is the loud screams, and that's
01:04when the Patriots are doing good.
01:06I mean, I just don't get it why y'all are always giving them damn tickets to them Patriot fans.
01:11This is the thing, Joey.
01:12It's called Stockholm Syndrome.
01:15For so long, the Patriots ran the league, and they ran us into the ground that I know a lot
01:19of guys and girls down here that are born and raised in the 305 and the 954, and they're Patriots.
01:25Hey, Dan.
01:26I know, Dan.
01:27They've never even had a clam chowder.
01:29They've never had a clam chowder, and they're going, go Patriots, go Sox.
01:33Yeah, it's annoying, man.
01:34I mean, I'm over here in Texas, and it's just embarrassing.
01:37But we played good.
01:38The refs kind of hosed us on that one call, but the offensive line was terrible, man.
01:44Y'all are getting on Malik Willis.
01:45And, I mean, he didn't have a chance, really.
01:49Yeah, and I sang the praises of Jonas Savionaya this week, saying we haven't called his name all year long.
01:55He's having a great bounce-back year today.
01:57He got his first holding penalty.
01:58He wasn't very good.
01:59Caden Proctor was out.
02:00That had something to do with it.
02:02The offensive line was pretty bad today.
02:04Yeah, you're right.
02:05There was no run.
02:05I mean, Ollie Gordon II was getting hit in the backfield.
02:09So, yeah, took a step back today.
02:11He makes a difference.
02:12But, David, can I leave my number off air and any of these Dolphin fans,
02:16if they want to give them tickets to them, I'll just buy them from them.
02:19Yeah, just text us, 305-567-0560.
02:21Just say it's Joseph from Texas, and we'll make sure to get you some tickets,
02:24and you can represent wear your Dan Marino jersey out there.
02:27Or maybe go hardcore and wear something like a Jacob Rodriguez or something.
02:31Zach Thomas?
02:32Yeah, I met Zach Thomas not too long ago at the card show.
02:35He's my idol.
02:36That's a Texas guy right there.
02:38I like to hear it, Joe.
02:38Yeah, yeah.
02:39Deep in the heart of Texas, represent for the Dolphins.
02:41We need you, as always, 305-567-0560.
02:46Let's go.
02:46Back to the phone lines, 104.3 FM, WQAM.
02:48What's your name?
02:49Where are you calling from?
02:51Hello?
02:51Hey, what's up?
02:53My name is George, and I'm calling up from South Carolina.
02:56South Carolina.
02:57Come on and raise up.
02:59What's on your mind, George?
03:00Yeah, I was raised in Miami.
03:02I'm a big Dolphin fan.
03:03I even have the little box, so I can see all the Dolphin games from up here.
03:07Fins up.
03:08But, Jeff Hasley, he's got to get these players disciplined.
03:13When he came in here, he said his coaching thing was on discipline.
03:19These Dolphin players are making too much mistakes, especially with, I think, Ollie Gordon might have cost us the game
03:26today.
03:26I'm going to tell you this.
03:27Ollie Gordon, and I'm not trying to be mean, he needs to shut his mouth and play football.
03:31He talks more and more.
03:33And he got caught today with his hand in the cookie jar.
03:36They need to bench him.
03:37He needs to learn that this can happen.
03:39This is not McDaniel's regime.
03:41This is a new regime.
03:42And these Dolphin fans expect better from him and expect better from these players.
03:47They need to step up.
03:49I'm not expecting that they're going to do anything this year.
03:52I'm still watching the game.
03:54I'm still a diehard Dolphin fan.
03:55I'm not expecting a lot from them.
03:57And I hope that a lot of these Dolphin fans, wherever they're from, wherever they're at, California, Texas, know not
04:03to expect a lot from them this year.
04:06But next year, there should be no excuses for this team.
04:10Next year, in 2028, there should be no excuses for this team not to be competitive.
04:17Us as Dolphin fans, we are tired of mediocre.
04:21We are tired.
04:22Can we get a Super Bowl before this?
04:24First, before this next year or the following year ends.
04:29Can we get a Super Bowl, please?
04:30We'll get snow.
04:31I'm praying for a Super Bowl.
04:33Three things, George, that you brought up.
04:34And I want to touch on all of them because they're very, very good points.
04:37Number one, Ollie Gordon does need to shut his mouth and play football.
04:40I don't mind a little bit of trash talking, but it's very, very obvious.
04:43And you know what?
04:44Yeah.
04:45Win some games.
04:45I don't know you're having a good season, but shut your mouth a little bit and play some football.
04:49He got penalized today.
04:51Not very good on him.
04:52The only problem with benching Ollie Gordon Jr. is there's no one else.
04:56You want Jalen Wright getting in there?
04:58He had a paltry two carries for five yards.
05:00He's not our running back.
05:01He's not going to make this team next year, probably.
05:04So you can't really bench him.
05:06Number two, you do like the fact that this team with Jeff Halfley has totally changed the narrative.
05:13Remember how soft and how much of a joke we were around the league?
05:16They are a tougher team this year, and I do like that they are built around this toughness and this
05:21physicality.
05:21I did notice that today, and even the announcers said it.
05:24So I know as the Dolphins are saying, George, you're probably happy with the change in the culture.
05:29And one more thing before you hang up on me.
05:31I'm also a Dolphins fan.
05:34Let's go, Canes, baby.
05:36Oh, yes.
05:37That's all we have to hope for this year is that the Canes can win the national championship, and next
05:41year maybe our Dolphins will be competitive.
05:44So all these Dolphin fans, calm down.
05:46Calm your horses down.
05:47Next year we should be competitive.
05:49I don't think we're – you know, this is the third thing I wanted to touch on, George, from South
05:52Carolina.
05:53Of course, thank you for calling us, Dolphins Nation, representing all over the world.
05:56The other thing is I will give Jeff Halfley this credit, not just as he changed the culture, made this
06:01team more physical, more tough,
06:03and it's very obvious they are not the soft joke they were the past couple of years.
06:06And we're going to talk about Mike McDaniel, who I'm checking periodically to see if he's going to get fired.
06:10I have some intel on Mike McDaniel that we'll get to later, but this isn't a Mike McDaniel show.
06:15Not only has Jeff Halfley changed and made this team physical, tough, and nasty, but also he has not made
06:22excuses this year.
06:23He has not gone out and said, I got a lot of rookies.
06:26We got a lot of first-year guys.
06:28We got a lot of dead money.
06:30He's sitting there, and he made the mistake earlier saying, you know, this season can't be judged in wins and
06:35losses.
06:35Rookie coach mistake.
06:37He's come back on that and says, no, wins are important.
06:40We want to win.
06:41We want to compete.
06:42We're not looking towards anything but that.
06:44This team doesn't make excuses.
06:46They're physical.
06:47They're tough.
06:48They might not be the most talented, but at least you know you have that.
06:52And I want to give Jeff Halfley credit for that.
06:54Now, he got out-coached today.
06:56I'll give him that.
06:57He's a rookie.
06:58He's going to get out-coached.
06:59You know, it's going to happen.
07:01You said something about Ollie Gordon, Dan, that I can't – usually I would disagree with, but I can't disagree
07:05with.
07:05You know, he does a lot of chirping, a lot of chirping, but if you're going to do a lot
07:08of chirping, you better know how to fly.
07:09I see a lot of chirping, and I don't see a lot of flying, so you've got to deliver if
07:12you're going to be that aggressive.
07:13So I get you, Dan.
07:14And he's having a great season, and today he had 69 yards.
07:19But he had an okay game, and he's got hit in the backfield a lot.
07:22The thing is, I don't mind trash-talking.
07:24I don't mind letting him know.
07:25That can actually be part of your game.
07:27It gets you fired up.
07:28But you've got to do it.
07:28But you can't do it to the point that it's so obvious after every play, and then now you're going
07:33to start getting penalized.
07:34And if you noticed, after Ollie Gordon got that penalty, they started hitting him a little bit harder, trying to
07:39get under his skin.
07:40Again, you don't want to be that player known like that because it will bring the ramifications and the repercussions
07:46that Ollie Gordon started facing.
07:48Plus, can't bench him because you don't want Jalen Wright in there.
07:51I'm sorry.
07:52I've given up on Jalen Wright as a running back.
07:54Now, returning kicks, whatever.
07:56I'm just being honest with you.
07:58I've given up on Jalen Wright as a running back.
08:00Ollie Gordon's all we got.
08:01305-567-0560.
08:03How you feeling?
08:04104.3 FM, WQAM.
08:06What's your name?
08:06Where you calling from?
08:09Woo!
08:09Jake from Coconut Creek.
08:11What's up?
08:13It's Jake from Coconut Creek.
08:14How you doing all day, Dan Day?
08:15Man, I've been here all day, all night, man.
08:17No sleep, but, you know, lots of coffee and lots of dolphins and lots of canes, too.
08:21So, we got it going on.
08:23Hey, Dan, you're the hardest-working person I know at 560, man.
08:26You're always on the air.
08:27I appreciate you.
08:29So, I got two things for you.
08:31One is the rest of the bad calls.
08:34I know the bad calls to perfect canes when we got no run game going.
08:38And then, the other thing is, yeah, trash talk, discipline.
08:43What happened to that?
08:44I remember, I know Coach Haft, he did bench Ollie Gordon in the preseason for a penalty just like that.
08:49It needs to happen again.
08:51Maybe not for a game, but, like, set the tone straight.
08:55Yeah, so, if you couldn't hear what Jake was saying, you go, what happened to Jeff Happily when he came
08:59in and said, you know, we're not going to stand for players getting meaningless, pointless penalties.
09:05Why is he not enforcing that more?
09:07This is the thing.
09:08And I think we got Jake back.
09:09Jake, I'm sorry about that.
09:10Jake, this is the thing.
09:12In practice and in theory, it was the right thing to say.
09:15The problem is, when Ollie Gordon gets a penalty for talking too much, he looks down the bench and goes,
09:22I got nobody else, man.
09:24I can't give Jalen Wright the ball.
09:26He averages a yard of carry.
09:28I got no other running back.
09:29Like, we got Malik Washington as our backup running back.
09:34It's one thing to come in and say, I'm going to bench anybody that gives us a personal foul penalty.
09:38But then when you don't have anybody else, you got to go, don't do that again.
09:42You saw he called him over, Ollie Gordon, you know, you got to get back in there.
09:46It's unfortunately the hand that he's been dealt.
09:49So, that's kind of the thing.
09:50So, yeah, Jake, there's really nobody else.
09:53So, we're just going to have to kind of deal with that.
09:54Maybe he needs to give him a little bit of a financial reason to not get these penalties.
09:59That might be the next step for these Dolphins.
10:02Yeah, that would hurt.
10:03Yeah, perfect.
10:04And what do you think about the draft?
10:05Do we continue to tank or do we beat the Chargers and we beat the Jets one more time?
10:09Definitely beat the Jets.
10:10I don't care.
10:11I hate the Jets.
10:13I am chomping at the bit to dive into the Chargers because I got some intel, some inside information on
10:19Mike McGann on the Chargers.
10:20And if you're a Dolphins fan, you're going to want to hear it because, whoo, he is in trouble.
10:26But we're going to get to that later because we're talking about the Dolphins.
10:29Because right now, look, I think this Dolphins team now, I've seen enough to know this is a decent enough
10:34team to win four or five games this year.
10:37I don't think they're going to be anywhere near the first overall draft pick.
10:42I know we just lost and we're one and six.
10:45But I don't know about you, Jake, but I feel as though there's some wins in there in the next
10:49ten games.
10:51I'm going with the ride, Dan.
10:52Hey, thanks for taking my call, man.
10:54I appreciate you.
10:54That's it.
10:55Hey, look, it's not where you draft.
10:57That is important.
10:57I get it.
10:58It's how you draft.
10:59And we know, at least from one draft, John Eric Sullivan and Jeff Haffley, pretty darn good.
11:05We saw some players today on the rookie side.
11:08Jacob Rodriguez, he had the peanut punch out, forced fumble.
11:12We saw Chris Johnson had an interception, but had some big plays in there.
11:17That was pretty good.
11:18We know Caleb Douglas.
11:18Kevin Coleman catches a touchdown pass.
11:21Chris Bell had some yards.
11:24Cain Proctor, he was hurt today.
11:26He makes a difference on the offensive line.
11:28Chop Robinson had some sex to do.
11:30Right, but I'm talking about the rookies on this team.
11:31The rookies, look, it's not always where you draft.
11:35It's who you draft.
11:37And if John Eric Sullivan this first year is representative of what he will be doing, we don't need the
11:42number one overall pick.
11:43I'm not 100% sold on Drew Mestamaker.
11:46Of course, I'm not 100% sold on Malik Willis.
11:49I think his decision-making and processing is a little slower than I'd like.
11:52But nonetheless, I'm okay with not having the number one overall pick.
11:57I'm all about one game at a time.
11:59Let's win against the Detroit Lions, who have no secondary defense, but they did win today.
12:03305-567-0560.
12:05Donald, what you got, man?
12:07Is it me?
12:08Is it me?
12:09It's you, Don.
12:09We got you.
12:10What's happening?
12:11All right, listen, I've been a Dolphin fan for 60 years, okay?
12:16I know what kind of team we got, but I bet on them today.
12:19I put money on the Fins today.
12:21Put your money where your mouth is.
12:23I knew they could win this game.
12:25I thought they were.
12:27The defense is as good as any defense could be with what we have.
12:31You're right.
12:32Okay?
12:32The offense has some players, but you know what?
12:37I believe I have to agree with you.
12:40What happened to the offense in the second half, and I believe Malik Willis, you know,
12:45God bless his heart, but he's not seeing the field.
12:48He's not getting it done.
12:50You're right.
12:51And the offense cost me my money today.
12:56Huh?
12:56Donald, you have a right to be upset because when someone hits you in the pocketbook,
12:59you should be mad.
13:00I thought the Dolphins were going to win.
13:02I thought the Dolphins were going to be up 13-3 at halftime, and they were going to find
13:06a way to score a touchdown, kind of like at the Jets game, kind of find a way to get
13:08a
13:08big touchdown here and there, keep the Patriot at arm length, and just kind of get through
13:13it all.
13:13And look, we were a couple of referee challenge and reviews away from winning this game.
13:19Unfortunately, I'll be honest with you, Donald, and be honest with me, and I know you just
13:22lost some money, the referees with the reviews did get it right.
13:25They did get it right that there was a touchdown on that long pass to, let's see, Kyle Williams.
13:31He did cross the goal line.
13:33And then when they went for it on fourth and down, fourth down, Chris Johnson looked like
13:36he got the stop, but I did see the replay, and it looked like they got it.
13:40So, can't catch a break, man.
13:41It's one of those things.
13:42And when it comes to losing money on the Dolphins, I have one...
13:45Sorry, go ahead.
13:46Had the offense played more on the field, been more on the field, you know, we could
13:52have kept them from scoring with our offense, but we weren't out there enough.
13:56And then that, the last drive where we got a touchdown before the end, there was no urgency.
14:01Nope.
14:01You know, it just wasn't there.
14:04Donald...
14:04And I know we have a ton of rookies on the team, but I just didn't see the urge to
14:10win
14:10in the second half today.
14:11I'm disappointed.
14:12We don't, Donald, have the personnel.
14:14We don't have the scheme to have any urgency.
14:17We are a team that's built for long, slow, methodical drives that keeps the ball out of
14:22the other team's hand.
14:23And when you have to flip that switch, it's just not there.
14:26You saw it today.
14:27One quick question.
14:28One quick question.
14:29Yes.
14:29Which quarterback do we take next year?
14:32I'll leave you with that.
14:33I'll leave you with that.
14:34I'll be with you, Donald.
14:35Look, I'm sad at this.
14:36And you know, everybody, and I think it's kind of a cop-out.
14:39I'll be honest with you.
14:40Maybe you feel differently.
14:41People always say, and they try to berate you for saying, give the quarterback time.
14:47You can't just, what if you give up on him too soon?
14:50Well, we sat around forever.
14:52Yeah, we did.
14:53Hey, Dan.
14:53Forever with Ryan Tannehill.
14:55Give him time.
14:56It's such a cop-out.
14:58Because you say, give him time.
15:00You're being, you're not being fair to the quarterback.
15:03And then when they don't produce, those people just disappear.
15:05Yeah.
15:05They make you feel bad for saying, you're not the guy.
15:08We took forever with Tua Tungvaloa.
15:11And by now we know, Tua sucks.
15:13I'm sorry.
15:14If you don't think he sucks, call me up.
15:16305-567-056.
15:18You saw when he got in the game the other day, and the Ravens celebrated and had audio going,
15:23oh, we're going to get this.
15:25You're fired up, man.
15:26Tired of this.
15:27We got to give him time.
15:29How dare you not give this guy time?
15:31How about you be a pro and go in there and make plays?
15:34Malik, you had a good day at the office last week.
15:36Also.
15:37Didn't have a great day at the office this week.
15:39Your decision-making and your processing, I'm going to tell you right now, it needs to
15:43get quicker.
15:44You know what they say?
15:45I'm going to quote a local philosopher, a local rapper, Maurice Young, a.k.a.
15:49Trick Daddy.
15:50And his wise words are, I'm in debt because I'm betting with the Dolphins.
15:54Welcome to the club, brother.
15:56Donald, sorry you lost money.
15:57It's not your fault.
15:58The Dolphins just got out-schemed, out-played, and out-experienced in the second half.
16:02They were the better team in the first half.
16:04Obviously, only give up 97 yards.
16:07Chop Robinson gets the sack before halftime.
16:08Chop Robinson comes out after halftime, gets another sack, and you think, come on.
16:12And then Vrabel, Drake May, and the experience.
16:15They had no real starting wide receivers today.
16:19Still burnt us with some long passes.
16:20But we're okay.
16:22That missed field goal, Dan, it took the air out of my lungs, Dan.
16:25We were in that game with that field goal.
16:27We could have made that field goal, but again, the Dolphins missing a kick.
16:31But you seem to say that it's something going on in the league.
16:33I mean, at the point, it would have been 24-16 if Zane Gonzalez makes that 43-yard field goal.
16:39I don't think the Dolphins had enough urgency.
16:41I was telling you, Chico, at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
16:43Like a piano on their back.
16:45Once DeMario Douglas had that long touchdown pass and went 24-13 with 12-39 left in the fourth quarter,
16:52I was like, we don't have the personnel, the scheme to be urgent enough to put together some quick drives
16:58and score.
16:59We're going to run out of time.
17:01And lo and behold, that's exactly what we did, 24-19.
17:05They get that conversion on third down.
17:08They get a first down.
17:09They run out the clock.
17:10And now we get ready for the Lions next week.
17:13I will say, though, Dan, it was nice to be in a game.
17:16Competitive.
17:16We've been in every game this year, though.
17:18Yeah, you're right.
17:18I guess you're right.
17:19For the people that sit there like, we're not even a professional team.
17:21We are a professional team.
17:22If you look back at it.
17:23We are competitive.
17:24Outside of the 49ers and every quarterback in the goddamn league knowing exactly what we're doing, we're in the game.
17:30Yeah, if you look back at our losses, it's literally been one blade of grass that got in the way
17:34that ruined that one game.
17:36And then the roughing the passer, what was Chuck Robinson supposed to do, put a pillow down for the guy?
17:41So it really has been these one little thing, these one little incidents that have changed the entire momentum of
17:47the game.
17:48We've been in these games.
17:49My friend Carol and her brother Dolphin Dave leave in the game.
17:53They're wet.
17:53They're rainy.
17:54They're optimistic about this Dolphins team.
17:56But at the same time, you want wins.
17:59It's one of those things.
18:00We're just a couple plays away here and there.
18:02We're young.
18:02We're going to have to find ways, like the New England Patriots did today, to find ways to win with
18:07experience and coaching.
18:08And it, unfortunately, comes with time.
18:11305-567-056.
18:12You're going to take more of your phone calls next.
18:14Hold tight.
18:15This is Game Dave Uncensored Postgame on 104.3 FM WQAM.
