02:35seats are warm Willie Adamas has put a three-run job up into the left field seats phenomenal Giants win
02:43again Mets had already lost Giants two back and maybe they'll still be two back when we when we go
02:48to bed tonight but I'm telling you if you thought that when I went to the yard I would see pennant
02:55fever no no there's something this is a really maybe like pennant sniffle no it's like pennant
03:03sneezy I'm not saying fever but like maybe the sign of a little bit of a pennant illness I'm like
03:09people were into the game but I know what September feels like when you win a baseball game
03:16in this city and and you're you're humming at a playoff spot people are walking down the ramps
03:23after the game let's go Giants and they're come on like there's there's stuff going on people after
03:29this game were sauntering uh to their cars right there and so I'm not saying that they don't care
03:38I'm saying this is a unique dynamic I've never experienced before which is an actual legit shot
03:44at the playoffs playing well in September and the fans have not like they've not woken back up yet
03:52and I understand why we had a funeral on the show yeah yeah we had a funeral to the giant season on
04:00the show we did and the reason why they're not feeling the fever is because they're 74 and 72 so
04:06it feels like it's just a question of how they wind up 82 and 80 maybe they'll win five of the next six
04:13and then they'll tank or maybe they'll start the tank now and then they'll rally it just feels like
04:18there's a certain amount of inevitability to their mediocrity three years ago 81 and 81
04:2479 and 83 yeah 80 and 82 right now you're two games above so if you want to just go back through
04:32the last four seasons you're four games below over nearly 630 baseball games right but 13 of 17

05:41Saturday June mode in a way or we're still in like wait till next year mode but this has gotten to a
05:50point now where it it is not far-fetched at all it is I know the Dodgers are coming for seven you know
05:57I know they got seven games still and the Dodgers are coming this weekend I get it but it's it's
06:02um it is realistic a playoff spot is realistic at this hour uh okay depends on it is I mean it's
06:09it's definitely a possibility and if you want to look at fan graphs and we did this about two or
06:15three weeks ago they had a one percent chance of making the playoffs well that's now up to four
06:19point seven percent according to fan graphs now if you go to other sites and other sources wildcard
06:28giants percentages they've got them at 21 percent baseball reference so depends on what you look at
06:34seven games against the Dodgers you don't have the tiebreaker against the Mets so even if they lose
06:39today and you're two back you have to get one ahead you gotta get further in order to actually get by
06:46them and you're kind of running out of games you've got 16 left it's not out of the question
06:50but at all especially when the Mets are playing terrible right well they're also playing a great
06:55team right now and you know Philadelphia uh it's gone to the third and they're up to nothing but
07:00yeah they're allowed to win 10 of their last 16 and the Mets can go seven and nine and the Giants can
07:05pass them yeah I mean I'm not calling it likely it's it remains unlikely I I will definitely grant you
07:11that it remains unlikely but it is not it is not far-fetched at all um at this point and yes the
07:18Mets are losing the Phillies but they also lost two or three to the Reds over the weekend they lost
07:23their game before that uh to the Detroit Tigers you know they've lost uh they've lost five of their
07:28last six they are they are helping the Giants out and the Giants were a team that needed help
07:33and the Mets are giving it to them that's right so you know today that's why it stings a little bit
07:38I know sweeps are hard and when you win 13 of 16 you feel like okay if you lose one you understand
07:45it and you forgive it but today just watching some of it was uh kind of like the Giants of July
07:51in August where you had a couple of ducks in the pond you couldn't get them in then you had to
07:56strike them out not exactly throw them up but strike them out throw around pickle and inning over
08:02you know Devers hits one that's a home run and every single patch of grass except one in the country
08:08and so you know you came up short but you've won 13 of 17 it's okay oh I'd like to add this to the
08:15discussion because we finally did this I hadn't done this exercise yet um but we did this exercise
08:21as a group before the show and I wasn't even thinking of this and I wonder if this gives

09:30number yeah that's that that is very very possible be better if you were playing them because then
09:36you'd get the automatic one game switcheroo but the Mets have been free falling and you mentioned it
09:41the Giants 13 and 4 in their last 17 which is one of their better stretches they've had in the last 15
09:48years of that block of games and of all the games I looked at and I looked at every year the majority
09:54of those runs where they go 11 and 2 three years ago they went 11 and 2 in September well the season
10:02was already over that got them to 80 and 79 woohoo at a babe Kapler great job but the majority of these
10:10like two years ago they went 14 and 4 in June great June you wound up 79 and 83 down the stretch
10:18you faded so the fact that this stretch is coming in September and the Mets are backing that thing
10:24up that's what makes this one unique I mean they're they are right there they they are right there
10:31and I think that if they get there I know this city I know everyone will will show up for it
10:39although there won't be any home games unless they beat the Dodgers that's the other little quirk of
10:44this whole thing it's a three game series in LA and you'd have to win two of them but if they were
10:50to do that then you move to the divisional round and and and you get a full series and and all of
10:56those things so we're talking about one hell of a parlay to come back catch the Mets pass the Mets
11:03then go to LA for a three game series beat the Dodgers you've given up um a bunch of pieces from
11:10your bullpen oh by the way uh month of August to now best bullpen in baseball want to venture a
11:16guess um I mean is it the Giants San Francisco Giants okay that's after no Tyler Rogers no Randy
11:24Rodriguez no Camila Duvall and they threw a guy today you never even heard of I'm like who the
11:31hell's that yeah and this Pagaro guy who throws over 100 miles an hour last night he was phenomenal
11:35oh one other note I just want to let everybody know a lot of notes I do I've had a lot of
11:41conversations about this recently I just want to let everyone know you are obviously still allowed
11:48to have your opinion that never changes but you can go ahead and give up on the idea of Bob Melvin
11:55being fired that's a fact that's I mean I don't think it was ever a thing but when they when they had
12:04those players come out and basically say no we like playing for him and then those same players
12:08caught absolute fire and you can't have a year end like this and turn around and fire the skipper
12:14but they could lose the next 16 in a row and he ain't going anywhere 16 in a row might be look at me
12:20I'm not I'm not saying I dare them to lose 16 more in a row I'm not saying this because they're winning
12:26I'm saying this because of conversations that I've heard about let's put it that way and it's
12:35honestly it's obvious the people who are uh structurally in charge of these kinds of things
12:41do not see Bob Melvin as a problem that's what I would say well he's not the problem like the problem

13:25complaint it wasn't a home run I'm sorry Rafi Devers should have been homer the double that he hit in
13:30the uh in the eighth inning it uh it plated to you all know what we're talking about go out to
13:36triples alley and then go very very top of the brick wall there's this one little strip that just
13:40looks like sidewalk cement it's that color one little strip up there all the way in right center field
13:46it's about five billion feet away from home plate um Rafi hit that and the ball flew back onto the
13:53field and and Mr. Devers got a double now this is it's true for both teams and the Giants are doing
13:58fine now and they've won World Series in this building I don't have issues with the ballpark I
14:02never will and it's not changing it's just funny to me you had the analytics on this hit what were
14:07the analytics 110 miles an hour off the bat okay expected batting average of 960 okay home run in 29 of
14:1430 parks not even just that but a home run in any other part of this ballpark and I think the total
14:19distance was 421 okay so if you hit a 421 foot fly ball at 110 miles an hour I would say the same
14:28thing if it came from the other team that's a home run I'm sorry Giants that has to be a home run
14:38it's just wrong like that's not that's not the sport of baseball if you hit a ball 421 feet
14:48at 110 miles an hour you hit a home run and if you've built something that creates that not being
14:55a home run you've built something that doesn't work for me as a fan that's all I'm saying yeah so but
