“And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse,
Who shall stand as a banner to the people;
For the Gentiles shall seek Him,
And His resting place shall be glorious.”

It shall come to pass in that day
That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time
To recover the remnant of His people who are left,
From Assyria and Egypt,
From Pathros and Cush,
From Elam and Shinar,
From Hamath and the islands of the sea.

He will set up a banner for the nations,
And will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
And gather together the dispersed of Judah
From the four corners of the earth.
Isaiah 11:10-12

00:00so what's the answer the true remnant God tells Israel in Isaiah 1 19 1 9 unless the Lord of
00:10hosts had left us a very small remnant we would have become like Sodom we would have become made
00:15like Gomorrah very small remnant what does a remnant mean remnant means that there is a faithful
00:21remnant who believe in the God of Israel in the God of the Bible and the God and Father our Lord
00:27Jesus Christ days of Isaiah Isaiah had his disciples who were faithful to God and they were the remnant
00:34within the society which he saw corrupting itself and going away from the true God so God looks at
00:41you and he looks at me and he says you are the remnant you're the small remnant that remains
00:46says without you you would have become like Sodom and Gomorrah what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah
00:50read the story of Genesis 18 and Genesis 19 God Abraham bargained with God get it down from 50 to
00:5810 righteous people in Sodom and if God found 10 righteous people in Sodom then he would spare Sodom
01:04from destruction couldn't find 10 righteous people so God actually rained down fire and destruction upon
01:10Sodom which meant that there was no remnant that was big enough to appease God's wrath
01:16so we have a very important part of play in all of this we might think we're small we're not the
01:23majority by any means but if we are the true remnant and we're preaching the true gospel and we're
01:27speaking out the truth about Jesus Christ we're holding back the forces of corruption and destruction
01:32and God's looking for that remnant to be active and to be about his business and proclaiming the truth
01:38of Jesus Christ into this world no matter what it costs us
01:42goes on in Isaiah verse 1 verses 17 to 20 to say wash yourselves make yourselves clean put away the
01:50evil of your doings from before my eyes cease to do evil learn to do good seek justice rebuke the
01:56oppressor defend the fatherless preach plead for the widow come now let us reason together says the Lord
02:01though your sins are like scarlet they should be as white as snow though they're red like crimson they
02:06should be as wool if you're willing and obedient you should eat the good of the land but if you refuse
02:10and rebel you should be devoured by the sword for the mouth of the Lord has spoken so again the remnant
02:17has an important part to play and God's telling us to put away the evil of your doings to repent to turn
02:24back to the true God cease to do evil learn to do good seek justice rebuke the oppressor I guess we need
02:31to do a bit more rebuking of some of the oppressors in our land and tell them that they're leading to
02:38destruction and they need to repent and put things right
02:40we need to seek justice to defend the fatherless plead for the widow there is a place to stand for the
02:50poor and the oppressed what I said earlier about refugees and that I'm not talking about not caring
02:57for the genuine refugees the people who are genuinely in need of help I'm talking about
03:01the criminal elements which are coming in illegally and breaking our laws and not helping in any way
03:07in our society a whole different matter and he says if your sins are like scarlet they should be as
03:15white as snow so God promises that if we turn to him that he's going to make us right in his sight
03:22willing and obedient you should eat the good of the land if you refuse and rebel you should be
03:30devoured by the sword now the question which I ask is has is it already too late has the process been
03:37set in motion and it's too late to put it bright I'm not going to give an answer to that but you can
03:44just think about it I hope it's not too late hope that we can turn things around but inside me there's
03:51also a fear that it is too late that things have got to the point now where judgment becomes
03:56inevitable and you can see in the prophecies of Jeremiah and others that they reached a point
04:00where God said to Jeremiah don't pray for this people anymore judgment's going to come whatever
04:04you do and I feel that that is actually in my heart that's where I feel we are at but nevertheless
04:11we still have to pray and to preach and to proclaim the truth and to pray that God may bring good out of
04:17the evil which is around us whatever we have a choice whether we're going to build our house
04:22on the rock or on the sand and the house on the sand basically is our society today it is a house on
04:30the sand and when the storm comes it's going to fall down the house on the rock is those who put
04:36their trust in Jesus the Messiah and when the storm and the flood comes they're going to stand
04:40many suffer they may even die but they're going to stand and the truth is going to stand until
04:47Jesus returns they will still always be a witness to Jesus but he says those who build their lives on
04:54the house on the foundation of faith and obedience
04:56are those who Jesus spoke about in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7 verse 24
05:05therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them I will liken him to a wise man who
05:09built his house on the rock and the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat on
05:14that house and it did not fall for it was founded on the rock everyone who hears these sayings of
05:19mine and does not do them be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand and the rain descended
05:23the floods came and the winds blew and beat on that house and it fell and great was its fall
05:29so there's a choice choice before us a choice before our society to rebuild on the house
05:35or do we build on the sand?
05:38Sadly, the majority are building on the sand.
05:41Our government is building on the sand.
05:43Our education system is built on the sand.
05:46Most of our media is built on the sand.
05:49And it's going to fall to say that.
05:53What is built on the rock will stand.
05:56Much of the church is built on the sand.
05:59Unfaithful church will not stand.
06:01The faithful church will stand.
06:02And we need to watch out for the writing on the wall
06:05because I think it's getting clearer and clearer.
06:08Our leaders, for the most part, political, spiritual, are blind to it.
06:13But God is saying, loud, clear.
06:15You've been weighed in the balances and found wanting.
06:17Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and the Persians.
06:21Well, not the Medes and the Persians, but whoever is going to come.
06:30There's one way out.
06:31And that's Jesus, the Messiah.
06:34And finally, we just read from Psalm 2,
06:36which actually tells us something, prophetic psalm,
06:39which speaks about, I believe, this very situation.
06:44Psalm 2.
06:45Why do the nations rage and the people plot a vain thing?
06:49The kings of the earth set themselves, the rulers take counsel together
06:52against the Lord and against his anointed.
06:56Saying, let us break their bonds in pieces
06:58and cast away their cords from us.
07:00He who sits in the heavens shall laugh.
07:02The Lord shall hold them in derision
07:03and he shall speak to them in his wrath
07:05and distress them in his deep displeasure.
07:08Yet I have set my king on my holy hill of Zion.
07:11The first few verses there speak about the people plotting a vain thing and raging
07:18and taking counsel together against the Lord and against his anointed.
07:23Hebrew word for anointed is Mashiach,
07:25so it's against his Mashiach, against his Messiah.
07:27His Messiah is Yeshua, Jesus.
07:31So these people are against God, they're against the Messiah,
07:33they're against the Lord.
07:34They want to break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.
07:39The bonds and the cords are God's law, which actually restrains evil
07:44and they want to throw it away so that we can do what we like.
07:47Have my truth, not God's truth.
07:50Do what I think is right, not what God says is right.
07:52That's the spirit of our age, the anti-Christ spirit, the lawless spirit of our age.
07:56What people want to do today.
07:58They don't want God's law, they want their own law.
08:00They want to do what they think is right.
08:03No matter that God says it's wrong.
08:06What does God think about it?
08:09He laughs at them, he holds them in derision
08:11and he will speak to them in his wrath.
08:14Because God sees the end and he says,
08:16Yet I have set my king on my holy hill of Zion.
08:20Who's my king?
08:23Jesus.
08:24Where's his holy hill of Zion?
08:27Zion.
08:29God sees the end from the beginning.
08:30He sees that there's a day coming when Jesus is going to come back,
08:33stand on the Mount of Olives, set up his kingdom from Jerusalem.
08:38This prophecy actually says it's already happened.
08:41Well, in God's view it has already happened.
08:43In our view it hasn't yet happened.
08:45But there's a time coming when Jesus is going to come back
08:47and judge the world in righteousness.
08:48And he's going to judge the world according to what God says
08:54not according to what we say.
08:55And then he'll be given dominion over the kingdoms of this world.
09:01It says in the book of Revelation,
09:03The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdom of our God,
09:06of his Christ, his Messiah,
09:07and he shall reign forever and ever.
09:09Ultimately, the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdom of our God
09:13and of his Messiah.
09:15If you believe in Jesus, that's going to happen.
09:18If you believe in Jesus, you've got a place in that kingdom.
09:21If you don't, you haven't.
09:24It's as simple as that.
09:26So make sure that you have a faith in Jesus
09:28to make sure that you will have a place in that coming kingdom.
09:33Because that kingdom is going to be marvelous.
09:36But outside of that kingdom is terrible.
09:39And unfortunately, the majority of our people
09:41are heading towards the wrong kingdom,
09:44the kingdom of darkness under the power of Satan.
09:47Only those who repent and believe the gospel
09:48are going to be in the kingdom of righteousness.
09:51Which includes the Jewish people.
09:54So although God has a love for the Jews
09:55and God wants them, loves them,
09:58God's still calling Israel
09:59to repentance and faith in Yeshua, the Messiah.
10:03And although we believe in the right of Israel to exist,
10:06we recognize that Israel is actually not in the right place itself with God.
10:10And God is going to use the troubles of the last days
10:12to bring them to Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah.
10:16But the kingdom of this world will become the kingdom of our God
10:18and of his Messiah.
10:19And the Messiah will stand on his holy hill of Zion.
10:22And Satan will be cast out.
10:25And Jesus will reign for a thousand years on the earth
10:28in preparation for the new heavens and new earth
10:30in which righteousness dwells.
10:32So finally, what should we do?
10:35The rest of the psalm tells you,
10:38I will declare the decree the Lord has said to me,
10:40You are my son, today I have begotten you.
10:43Ask of me, I will give you the nations for your inheritance
10:45and the ends of the earth for your possession.
10:48You shall break them with a rod of iron,
10:50you shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10:53Similar words in Revelation 19 about the second coming of Jesus
10:56when he's going to rule over the earth with a rod of iron.
10:59In other words, it's going to be a benevolent dictatorship, if you like.
11:03You won't be able to study war anymore,
11:07make weapons anymore, do pornography anymore,
11:10do drugs anymore.
11:12All of those things will be against the law.
11:16Would that be a good thing?
11:17Yeah.
11:18And I'm for it.
11:19So Jesus is going to rule
11:21and he's going to put down
11:23everything which is of the enemy.
11:28And so the last verses say,
11:30Now therefore be wise, O kings,
11:31be instructed, you judges of the earth,
11:33serve the Lord with fear
11:34and rejoice with trembling.
11:36Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
11:37and you perish in the way
11:38when his wrath is kindled but a little.
11:40Blessed are those who put their trust in him.
11:43What's the answer?
11:44Be wise, be instructed by the Lord.
11:47Listen to what God says.
11:48Serve the Lord with fear
11:50and rejoice with trembling.
11:53Kiss the Son.
11:54I think the kiss the Son actually has an idea of worship as well.
11:57So worship the Son, worship the Lord.
12:01And there is an alternative,
12:03he be angry and you perish in the way.
12:05There is the wrath of God.
12:07So we've got a choice to make.
12:08Are we on God's side or on the other side?
12:13Make sure you're on God's side
12:14because blessed are all those who put their trust in him.
12:18There's a blessing for everybody who puts their trust in the Lord.
12:21He's going to protect you and keep you through all these times.
12:25And when you believe in Jesus,
12:26you've got a blessed hope in the Lord Jesus.
12:30And when you see all the troubles coming on the earth,
12:31you can look up, lift up your heads
12:33because your redemption draws near.
12:35Jesus is coming.
12:37He came once to fulfill the prophecies of the suffering servant.
12:39He's coming again to fulfill the prophecies of the reigning king.
12:42He didn't fail the first time.
12:45He did exactly what the prophecies said that he would do.
12:48Died for our sins, rose from the dead,
12:50fulfilled Isaiah 53, Psalm 22,
12:53all those prophecies to the letter,
12:54which means he's going to fulfill to the letter
12:56the prophecies which have yet to be fulfilled.
12:59Therefore, we can trust in him
13:01and know that he's going to have the last word.
13:04So if the first half of this talk was a bit depressing
13:06because it is depressing
13:07when you look at the state of our country
13:09and the state of the world,
13:10the second half hopefully is hopeful
13:12because it tells you that there is an answer to this.
13:15But there's only one answer, Jesus.
13:18So believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
13:20Yeshua HaMashiach,
13:22and you shall be saved.
13:23Amen.
13:25Amen.
13:25Praise God.
13:26Let's just have a word of prayer.
13:28Lord, we thank you that we do have a hope in Jesus.
13:30We thank you that you have come to redeem us
13:32through your precious blood.
13:34Thank you that you rose from the dead,
13:35that you're coming again in power and glory.
13:38And Lord, as we see the distressing state of our country,
13:40the distressing state of our world,
13:43the absence of good leadership
13:44in either politics or religion,
13:47we thank you, Lord,
13:47that you are the one who is the true and righteous leader,
13:52the true and righteous God,
13:53the true and righteous one
13:55who has redeemed us through your blood
13:57and has all power at your disposal.
13:59And you will have the last word in all these things.
14:02So we put our trust in you, Lord.
14:04Help us to be faithful to you.
14:05Help us to trust you and to do your will.
14:08In these last days, we pray.
14:10In Jesus' name, amen.
14:13Amen.
14:13Praise the Lord.
