00:00:10I decided just to speak about the situation in the Middle East with Iran.

00:00:13I've got a lot of stuff about what's happening in this country,

00:00:16but we'll look at that next time.

00:00:18So tonight it will be on Persia in prophecy

00:00:23and also how it relates to Israel and the prophets.

00:00:27So let's just have a word of prayer.

00:00:29Lord, we thank you that we can come to you in the name of Jesus.

00:00:31We thank you that you do have your word.

00:00:32We thank you that your word is truth.

00:00:34Pray you help me to speak

00:00:36and that your word will go out and accomplish your purposes.

00:00:39In Jesus' name, amen.

00:00:45Okay, the Bible is a remarkable book because it's full of prophecies.

00:00:49No other book has the same prophecies as the Bible does.

00:00:52It has prophecies about situations, towns and cities in the Middle East,

00:00:57Israel, many of which have been fulfilled,

00:01:01some of which are in the process of being fulfilled,

00:01:02some of which will be fulfilled.

00:01:04It has prophecies about the Messiah,

00:01:07many of which have been fulfilled in Yeshua's first coming

00:01:10and will be fulfilled at his second coming.

00:01:12And it has prophecies about the end of days.

00:01:16And they're all coming together at the present time

00:01:18as we look at what's happening.

00:01:19And we're going to look tonight at particularly the subject of Persia,

00:01:23Iran in prophecy.

00:01:26And there's a little map to show you where the place is.

00:01:30Iran, a large country there in the Middle East.

00:01:34Afghanistan on the east, Iraq on the south,

00:01:37on the west, sorry.

00:01:39You go north, you get to Russia.

00:01:41And you go south, you have to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf area.

00:01:46One of the main preoccupations of the present Iranian government

00:01:49is a little country over here called Israel,

00:01:52which, as you can see, is nowhere near Iran.

00:01:55It's about 1,000 miles from Jerusalem to Tehran.

00:01:57It has no border.

00:01:59It really has no particular political or geographical significance

00:02:04why Iran should be at war with Israel.

00:02:07Iranians are not Arabs.

00:02:10And because of their Islamic fundamentalism,

00:02:13they've decided that Israel has to go,

00:02:15which is why you have so much of the trouble

00:02:18which this Iranian government has caused.

00:02:21The other significant fact, of course,

00:02:23is that this area here, the Persian Gulf,

00:02:25is the area where about 50% of the world's oil reserves

00:02:29and gas reserves are found.

00:02:31So it's a pretty strategic area.

00:02:33And a lot of it's in Iran, also in Iraq,

00:02:36in Kuwait, in Saudi Arabia.

00:02:38And in the Gulf states here, Qatar and Bahrain and so on.

00:02:44One of the most significant things at the present time

00:02:47is that all of the oil which comes by ship

00:02:52has to come through the Persian Gulf

00:02:54and through this place here called the Strait of Hormuz.

00:02:57It's about 20 miles wide.

00:03:00And in that area, you have shipping lanes

00:03:04which are less than 20 miles wide

00:03:07and which carry, I think, 21% of the world's oil.

00:03:12So if you shut that down,

00:03:14it means that a whole lot of the oil

00:03:16which naturally flies into the world

00:03:18is going to be shut down.

00:03:20Present time, it's being shut down.

00:03:23And there are tankers building up on both sides of it,

00:03:25unable to go through the Strait of Hormuz.

00:03:27If that continues, then you're going to have a situation

00:03:30which will knock on,

00:03:31not just on the supply of oil and gas to the world,

00:03:34but also the economics of the world.

00:03:36And therefore, what's happening right now

00:03:38is not just relating to Persia,

00:03:40to Israel,

00:03:42but even to the whole world.

00:03:46A little bit about the background of Persia, Iran.

00:03:50This isn't working.

00:03:58Persia is a very ancient civilization.

00:04:02Built up, had literature, culture, law.

00:04:06Time when London was a marsh.

00:04:08They had an advanced civilization there in Persia.

00:04:12Iran, today.

00:04:14Got the Persian borders of the Persian Empire,

00:04:18which goes all the way here from India

00:04:21right through the Middle East,

00:04:22goes down through what's now Israel,

00:04:25even down to Egypt,

00:04:27and through what is now Turkey,

00:04:29even right up to Greece.

00:04:32And you may have heard that there were some wars

00:04:34between the Greeks and the Persians

00:04:36way back in time,

00:04:38which set off the Greeks

00:04:40being a little bit upset with the Persians,

00:04:41which led to a man called Alexander the Great

00:04:43in around 330,

00:04:45leading a war

00:04:48which would come out of Greece

00:04:49into Persia

00:04:50and would eventually take over

00:04:51the Persian Empire.

00:04:54Interesting, all of that is

00:04:55described in the book of Daniel

00:04:57prophetically before it happened.

00:04:59You have very specific prophecies

00:05:01about the Persian Empire

00:05:02and about the Greek Empire

00:05:03in the book of Daniel,

00:05:05all of which were fulfilled.

00:05:07And very detailed prophecies,

00:05:08so detailed that the skeptics say

00:05:10they must have been written after the event.

00:05:12But because we believe the Bible,

00:05:14we believe they were written before the event

00:05:15and therefore are genuine prophecies

00:05:18speaking about future events

00:05:19from Daniel's point of view,

00:05:21past events from our point of view.

00:05:23When you compare the future events

00:05:25which Daniel predicted

00:05:26with the past events

00:05:27which we know have happened,

00:05:29they all add up 100%,

00:05:30which shows you the Bible is true

00:05:31and the Bible has prophetic words

00:05:33which are absolutely true

00:05:36to what is revealed in the Scriptures.

00:05:41One of the most interesting prophecies

00:05:42you'll find in the Old Testament

00:05:44actually relates to the man called Cyrus

00:05:47who was the greatest king of Persia.

00:05:50His name was Karosh in Persian.

00:05:54He came about 500 BC, 550 BC.

00:06:00He set up the Persian Empire

00:06:02and he conquered the Babylonians

00:06:06in around 530 BC

00:06:10and he did it exactly as it says here in the Bible.

00:06:12I won't read all this scripture

00:06:13but it tells you about the time of Cyrus.

00:06:16It says that the Lord had raised him up.

00:06:19He says that he's going to say to Jerusalem,

00:06:23you shall be inhabited,

00:06:24to the cities of Judah,

00:06:25you shall be built,

00:06:26raise up a waste places.

00:06:28It says to the deep,

00:06:29keep me dry or dry up your rivers.

00:06:31He says to Cyrus,

00:06:32he is my shepherd,

00:06:33he shall perform all my pleasure,

00:06:34saying to Jerusalem,

00:06:35you shall be built

00:06:36and to the temple,

00:06:37your foundation shall be laid.

00:06:40Now according to biblical scholarship,

00:06:43those words were written by Isaiah

00:06:44some 150 years before Cyrus appeared on the scene.

00:06:49So it must have been a miracle

00:06:50by which God revealed these things to Isaiah

00:06:53concerning this man Cyrus

00:06:55who was going to come

00:06:56and dry up the riverbed of Babylon

00:06:58and marches troops

00:07:00through the dried up riverbed of Babylon

00:07:02into Babylon

00:07:03and take Babylon

00:07:04in the days of Belshazzar,

00:07:07king of Babylon,

00:07:08which you read about

00:07:09in the fifth chapter

00:07:10of the book of Daniel.

00:07:12Exactly what happened

00:07:14as Isaiah prophesied it.

00:07:17It also says,

00:07:19thus says the Lord,

00:07:19his anointed to Cyrus.

00:07:22Anointed in the Hebrew

00:07:23is the word Mashiach.

00:07:24So it says here that

00:07:25Cyrus is treated as one

00:07:27who is anointed,

00:07:28who's given a special role by God.

00:07:31So he is a person

00:07:32who's going to perform something

00:07:33which God had ordained for him to do

00:07:35and have to do something

00:07:36which had to do

00:07:37with the eventual Messiah

00:07:39who was going to come

00:07:40in the person of Yeshua.

00:07:41Because if you know your history,

00:07:43you know that this time

00:07:43when Cyrus took over Babylon,

00:07:45the Jews were captive in Babylon,

00:07:47Jerusalem had been destroyed

00:07:49and they were out of the land.

00:07:51God's purpose is to be fulfilled

00:07:53with the coming of the Messiah.

00:07:54They had to go back to the land

00:07:56and they had to rebuild the temple

00:07:57and established a Jewish community

00:07:59in the land of Israel

00:08:01until the coming of the Messiah.

00:08:04Also something which is prophesied

00:08:06in the book of Daniel chapter 9.

00:08:08But here you have Isaiah

00:08:12calling Cyrus Mashiach, Messiah.

00:08:14Doesn't mean that he is the Messiah,

00:08:16but he's saying you're going to have

00:08:17some kind of anointed role

00:08:18under God's purposes

00:08:20which would have a purpose

00:08:21in bringing the Jewish people

00:08:22back to the land of Israel

00:08:23in connection with the Messiah.

00:08:26And it goes on to say at the end here,

00:08:28I've raised him up in righteousness.

00:08:29I direct all his ways.

00:08:31He shall build my city

00:08:32and let my exiles go free,

00:08:34not for price nor reward,

00:08:36says the Lord of hosts.

00:08:37And if you look in chapter 1 of Ezra,

00:08:43you'll find that Cyrus gave that order

00:08:47for the Jews to go back to Jerusalem.

00:08:50And so Cyrus is actually one of the heroes,

00:08:53if you like, of the Old Testament.

00:08:54In fact, I think there is no other Gentile

00:08:56who is given such honor

00:08:57in the prophetic writings as Cyrus the king.

00:09:01We know also that Cyrus produced this,

00:09:05this is known as the Cyrus Cylinder.

00:09:08You can actually see it in the British Museum,

00:09:11the genuine article,

00:09:12which was recovered from Babylon,

00:09:15in which Cyrus writes down

00:09:19the things which he is going to do.

00:09:21And it actually gives you

00:09:23kind of the first human rights record in history.

00:09:27You're going to free the slaves,

00:09:28you're going to let people go back

00:09:29to their own country

00:09:30and worship their gods as they want to.

00:09:33So it was a kind of charter of human rights.

00:09:36So way back in the 6th century BC,

00:09:39you have this man who has been given this role

00:09:43to order the restoration of the Jews to Jerusalem

00:09:45after the Babylonian captivity.

00:09:48And you can read about it in the book of Ezra.

00:09:52Okay, so Cyrus, if you like,

00:09:54is the good influence from Persia.

00:09:59Then you've got the other one,

00:10:00the wicked Haman.

00:10:04I think tomorrow it's beginning of Purim

00:10:06when the Jewish people remember

00:10:08the story of Haman

00:10:11and the story of Esther more importantly

00:10:12than the story of Haman.

00:10:13Esther who brought deliverance

00:10:17for the Jewish people from Haman.

00:10:20Haman, one of the worst figures

00:10:21in the Old Testament,

00:10:23called for the slaughter of the Jews,

00:10:25sought to destroy the Jewish people,

00:10:29made a law to the king.

00:10:35It says here,

00:10:35Haman sought to destroy all the Jews

00:10:37who were throughout the whole kingdom

00:10:38of Ahasuerus,

00:10:39the people of Mordecai.

00:10:41That is, was sent by the couriers

00:10:43into all the king's provinces

00:10:44to destroy, to kill,

00:10:46and to annihilate all the Jews,

00:10:47both young and old,

00:10:49little children and women,

00:10:50in one day on the thirteenth day

00:10:52of the twelfth month,

00:10:53which is the month of Adar,

00:10:54and to plunder their possessions.

00:10:57So, Haman made this order

00:11:00and the king signed it.

00:11:01Notice that this says here

00:11:03that after these things,

00:11:04King Ahasuerus promoted Haman,

00:11:07the son of Hamatea the Agagite.

00:11:10That tells you also something interesting

00:11:12about this man Haman.

00:11:14He was not a Persian.

00:11:15He was an Agagite.

00:11:17The Agagites were descendants of Amalek.

00:11:20Amalek was the cursed tribe,

00:11:22if you like,

00:11:22that wanted to destroy the Jews.

00:11:24And so, he was bringing something

00:11:26into the Persian Empire,

00:11:28which was actually foreign to Persia,

00:11:30which was introducing some idea,

00:11:32which was to kill and to destroy

00:11:34the Jewish people.

00:11:36It's interesting,

00:11:37if you look at some of the things

00:11:39that are being said

00:11:39about the present Islamic regime.

00:11:43Anybody seen the programs

00:11:45by Mayor Tusi?

00:11:46He's an Iranian

00:11:47who's much for,

00:11:49against the regime.

00:11:50And he describes the regime

00:11:51actually as something

00:11:52which is foreign,

00:11:53which has been imposed

00:11:54upon the Persian people

00:11:55come from outside.

00:11:56Not part of their culture,

00:11:58not part of their past

00:12:00to act in this terrible way

00:12:02which this Islamic regime is doing.

00:12:04And it occurs to me

00:12:05that they're doing this

00:12:05because of the spirit of Haman,

00:12:07which has come in from outside.

00:12:09And interestingly,

00:12:10of course,

00:12:11when it comes to the crunch,

00:12:12God raises up Esther,

00:12:14and Esther, the queen,

00:12:16causes the deliverance

00:12:17for the Jewish people.

00:12:19And we read how she says

00:12:21to the king,

00:12:22we've been sold,

00:12:22my people and I

00:12:24to be destroyed,

00:12:24to be killed,

00:12:25and to be annihilated.

00:12:27So Esther,

00:12:28Jewish lady who becomes

00:12:29the king's wife,

00:12:31therefore the queen,

00:12:32and she is going to be destroyed

00:12:34with the rest of the Jewish people.

00:12:36The king says,

00:12:36who is he,

00:12:37and where is he

00:12:37who would dare to presume

00:12:38in his heart

00:12:39to do such a thing?

00:12:40And Esther said,

00:12:41the adversary and enemy

00:12:42is this wicked Haman.

00:12:45And so Haman,

00:12:46having tried to destroy the Jews,

00:12:47has then destroyed himself,

00:12:49and he's,

00:12:50as they say,

00:12:50hoisted on his own petard,

00:12:52and he's executed

00:12:53on the gallows,

00:12:54which he'd put up

00:12:55for Mordecai.

00:12:58The interesting point

00:12:59is that

00:13:00one of the things

00:13:01which Haman's law was

00:13:02that the Jews

00:13:03should be annihilated,

00:13:04they should be killed,

00:13:06they should not be able

00:13:07to defend themselves.

00:13:09When the king came in

00:13:10he reversed that law

00:13:11because he couldn't reverse

00:13:12the actual first law,

00:13:14so he had to,

00:13:15because it was the law

00:13:16of the Medes and the Persians

00:13:16which can't be changed,

00:13:18so he had to give them

00:13:19a right to defend themselves,

00:13:21and you read in the book of Esther

00:13:22how the Jews defended themselves

00:13:23and they weren't annihilated.

00:13:26One of the interesting things

00:13:26about the present situation

00:13:27with Israel and the Arab world

00:13:30is you find that

00:13:31in the Islamic view,

00:13:33Israel should be

00:13:34what they call

00:13:34a dimmy people,

00:13:35the Jews should be

00:13:36a dimmy people,

00:13:37subject to the Muslims.

00:13:39One of the things

00:13:40about dimmy peoples

00:13:40is they should not be able

00:13:41to defend themselves.

00:13:43They should be under

00:13:43the protection

00:13:44of the Islamic rule

00:13:46but not able

00:13:47to defend themselves.

00:13:49When you look at

00:13:50some of the things

00:13:51which, for example,

00:13:52the original charter

00:13:53of the PLO,

00:13:54the Palestine Liberation Organization,

00:13:56it said that

00:13:57warfare against Israel

00:13:58is legal,

00:14:00Israel's self-defense

00:14:01is illegal.

00:14:03In other words,

00:14:03we should be able

00:14:04to attack and kill

00:14:05the Jews

00:14:05but they shouldn't

00:14:05be allowed

00:14:06to defend themselves.

00:14:08And in some of the,

00:14:09a lot of the anti-Israel

00:14:10stuff you've got today,

00:14:11what are they saying?

00:14:13They're saying

00:14:13kill, kill the IDF.

00:14:15What's the IDF?

00:14:16The IDF is

00:14:16the defense of Israel.

00:14:18They're saying

00:14:18that Israel shouldn't

00:14:19be able to defend itself,

00:14:20that they should

00:14:21take attacks

00:14:22like October the 7th

00:14:23and they shouldn't

00:14:24hit back,

00:14:24they shouldn't take

00:14:25any kind of role

00:14:27to defend themselves.

00:14:29So you've got

00:14:29this same sort of spirit

00:14:30and it occurs to me

00:14:31that the anti-Israel

00:14:32spirit today

00:14:34is following exactly

00:14:36on the program

00:14:37of Haman.

00:14:38Now they might

00:14:39always think that,

00:14:40some of them

00:14:40might think

00:14:40their nice liberal

00:14:41love is sort of

00:14:42trying to help

00:14:43the Palestinians.

00:14:44When you look

00:14:44behind the scenes

00:14:45what they're actually

00:14:45trying to do

00:14:46is not help

00:14:47the Palestinians,

00:14:47they're trying

00:14:48to destroy the Jews

00:14:48and to destroy Israel.

00:14:50It's the spirit

00:14:51of Haman

00:14:51now being manifested

00:14:53and the key country

00:14:54which is behind this

00:14:55is modern Iran.

00:14:57So you have

00:14:58these two people

00:14:59from the Old Testament,

00:15:00Cyrus who did good

00:15:01to the Jews

00:15:01was helpful to them

00:15:03and Haman

00:15:05the man who did

00:15:06evil to them

00:15:09all coming to pass.

00:15:12One other point

00:15:13that you've got

00:15:13from the Old Testament

00:15:14is this passage

00:15:15in the book of Daniel.

00:15:19In Daniel chapter 8

00:15:20you have one of the

00:15:21rather mysterious

00:15:22passages of the scripture

00:15:24where in verse 13

00:15:25it says

00:15:26the prince of the

00:15:26kingdom of Persia

00:15:27withstood me 21 days

00:15:29and behold Michael

00:15:30one of the chief princes

00:15:31came to help me

00:15:32for I've been left

00:15:33alone there

00:15:33with the kings of Persia.

00:15:35Now I've come

00:15:36to make you understand

00:15:37what will happen

00:15:37to your people

00:15:38in the latter days

00:15:39for the vision

00:15:40refers to many days

00:15:41yet to come.

00:15:43And in verse 21

00:15:44it says

00:15:44now I must return

00:15:45to fight

00:15:46with the prince of Persia

00:15:47when I've gone forth

00:15:48indeed the prince of Greece

00:15:49will come

00:15:50I'll tell you

00:15:50what is noted

00:15:51in the scripture of truth

00:15:52no one upholds me

00:15:53against these

00:15:54except Michael your prince.

00:15:57One of the

00:15:58mysterious passages

00:15:59in the scriptures

00:16:00but what it's really doing

00:16:01is revealing

00:16:02that behind the

00:16:03historical events

00:16:04which are taking place

00:16:06there are principalities

00:16:07and powers

00:16:08of demonic spirits

00:16:10and also

00:16:11angelic spirits

00:16:13and in this passage

00:16:14in Daniel

00:16:14he's saying

00:16:15that there is

00:16:15a spiritual warfare

00:16:17going on

00:16:17over the land of Persia

00:16:19and he speaks here

00:16:21about some revelation

00:16:22of the prince of Persia

00:16:24and Michael

00:16:24coming to fight

00:16:25against the prince

00:16:26of Persia

00:16:26so Michael

00:16:27is the chief archangel

00:16:28so you have to believe

00:16:29that this prince

00:16:30of Persia

00:16:30is an evil spirit

00:16:32which is now

00:16:33coming in

00:16:33to rule over

00:16:34the land of Persia

00:16:35so what this passage

00:16:36in Daniel

00:16:37is saying

00:16:37is it's going to be

00:16:38some kind of

00:16:39spiritual power

00:16:40which will take

00:16:41control of Persia

00:16:42and it's going to

00:16:43be fought against

00:16:44by the powers

00:16:46of the Lord

00:16:47I'm going to come back

00:16:48to that one

00:16:48a little bit later

00:16:50but just hold

00:16:51that in your mind

00:16:53prophecy also

00:16:54does refer

00:16:54directly to

00:16:55the battle

00:16:56which is going

00:16:56to take place

00:16:57between Greece

00:16:58and Persia

00:16:59and another

00:17:00interesting thing

00:17:01about Greece

00:17:01and Persia

00:17:02is that you have

00:17:02Greece

00:17:03which is a

00:17:03European power

00:17:05coming into

00:17:06Asia

00:17:07and to the

00:17:07Middle East

00:17:08powers

00:17:10right now

00:17:10it just occurs

00:17:11to me

00:17:11that we have

00:17:12power led

00:17:13by the United

00:17:14States

00:17:14which is coming

00:17:15into Persia

00:17:17United States

00:17:17which comes out

00:17:18of Europe

00:17:18which is a

00:17:19western power

00:17:19coming into

00:17:20the Middle East

00:17:21there's some

00:17:22kind of spiritual

00:17:22battle relating

00:17:23to this

00:17:24not sure exactly

00:17:25how that works

00:17:26out

00:17:26but Daniel

00:17:27reveals that

00:17:28there is this

00:17:29battle between

00:17:29Michael and

00:17:30the prince of

00:17:31Persia

00:17:31and he says

00:17:33also this is

00:17:33going to have

00:17:33something to do

00:17:34with the latter

00:17:34days

00:17:35it's not just

00:17:35about Alexander

00:17:36and the Persian

00:17:37Empire

00:17:37it's going to

00:17:38have something

00:17:38to do with

00:17:38the latter

00:17:39days

00:17:39and as we'll

00:17:40see in the

00:17:40we look at it

00:17:41a little bit

00:17:42later

00:17:43this spirit

00:17:44does actually

00:17:45merge with the

00:17:45coming of the

00:17:46Antichrist

00:17:47and of the

00:17:48last days

00:17:48battle

00:17:50okay so

00:17:50that's a little

00:17:51bit of an

00:17:51introduction

00:17:52if you like

00:17:53we'll move on

00:17:54to look at

00:17:54the little bit

00:17:56more about

00:17:56the history

00:17:57of Persia

00:17:59and the

00:18:00present

00:18:00situation

00:18:01so as far

00:18:02as historical

00:18:03things are

00:18:03concerned

00:18:03Persia

00:18:05Iran

00:18:05we see

00:18:06today as

00:18:07being an

00:18:07Islamic

00:18:07country

00:18:09it was not

00:18:09always Islamic

00:18:10the early

00:18:11religion was

00:18:11something called

00:18:12Zoroastrianism

00:18:13but Christianity

00:18:14did come to

00:18:15Iran or to

00:18:16Persia quite

00:18:16early first

00:18:18century we

00:18:18had the

00:18:19Nestorian

00:18:20church which

00:18:21spread into

00:18:23that part of

00:18:23the world

00:18:24and was quite

00:18:27powerful there

00:18:28in the first

00:18:28and second

00:18:29century

00:18:30they even

00:18:30went as far

00:18:31as moving

00:18:32into Central

00:18:32Asia and

00:18:34eventually got

00:18:34to China

00:18:35in fact there's

00:18:35records of a

00:18:36Persian ministry

00:18:37getting to

00:18:38China in

00:18:38about 635

00:18:39and bringing

00:18:40some kind

00:18:40of gospel

00:18:41message to

00:18:42that part

00:18:42of the

00:18:42world

00:18:43so there

00:18:44was a

00:18:44Christian

00:18:45church

00:18:46there

00:18:46which also

00:18:47reached out

00:18:48into Central

00:18:48Asia

00:18:52then the

00:18:52Muslims

00:18:53came on

00:18:53and you

00:18:54had all

00:18:54the issues

00:18:55which came

00:27:45then from Israel they will destroy the rest of the world

00:27:48and that's why they're saying death to America, death to Israel.

00:27:53Under this influence they're spending vast amounts of money

00:27:55on weapons of destruction, arms, missiles, nuclear program

00:28:03arming proxy groups in the Arab world with the aim of destroying Israel.

00:28:07They also want to dominate the Arab countries

00:28:09with their Islamic revolutionary views

00:28:12and they're going to foothold in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Gaza,

00:28:17Palestinian territories and they're trying to take over other places as well, Iraq as well.

00:28:24So that's a little bit of the background of what they believe.

00:28:26They experienced some kind of defeat last year with the war with Israel

00:28:30and their nuclear facilities were hit

00:28:35and they're heavily sanctioned by the US due to the nuclear program

00:28:38which is what their big argument is about at the present time.

00:28:43Now at the present time this regime is in big trouble.

00:28:47At the beginning of this year

00:28:50they were talking about having to move the whole city of Tehran

00:28:54from where it is now because they've run out of water

00:28:58and there is a desperate situation of the infrastructure in the country.

00:29:03The water has run out because they've mismanaged it.

00:29:06The IRGC, the Revolutionary Guards, have actually totally mismanaged it.

00:29:10They've been called the water mafia.

00:29:13As a result of their actions, the aquifers have broken down

00:29:17which supplied the water.

00:29:19There's really a huge chronic situation

00:29:22which is facing the whole country of water shortages.

00:29:25And actually whoever wins the war, whoever ends up in government

00:29:28will have to deal with this problem

00:29:29and really there's very little solution to it.

00:29:33Pazeshki and the Prime Minister said

00:29:34we're going to have to evacuate Tehran unless we get the water.

00:29:38They had a little bit of water now

00:29:39but it won't be enough to last them through the summer

00:29:41especially if there's a drought.

00:29:43So they're going to face the same problem later on this year.

00:29:47Now if you've got to evacuate Tehran

00:29:48that's a city of 13 million people.

00:29:50Where are you going to put them?

00:29:51That's the big question.

00:29:52And it's the same in other places in Isfahan,

00:29:54other parts of the country.

00:29:56You can see dried up rivers.

00:29:58You can see lack of water.

00:30:00As a result there's a lack of electricity.

00:30:02The economy is in Baaz dire straits.

00:30:04The agriculture is in dire straits.

00:30:06The whole country is in a desperate situation.

00:30:11The currency is worthless.

00:30:12It's now gone to 1.4 million rials.

00:30:15That's the unit of the currency to the dollar.

00:30:18So there is a huge social problem

00:30:20which is going to be there

00:30:21whoever wins in the present situation.

00:30:24Which caused part of the revolution

00:30:30which is taking place.

00:30:31This is what caused the riots

00:30:34which began in January.

00:30:36Now the regime is deeply unpopular

00:30:38especially amongst the youth.

00:30:40There's been a mass desertion of the mosques

00:30:44which are pretty largely empty.

00:30:47Many of the youth are either secular.

00:30:49There's a big drug problem

00:30:51or turning to Christianity.

00:30:53It's estimated that about a million people

00:30:55have turned to Christianity

00:30:56in recent times in the land of Iran.

00:31:00So there's a kind of movement away from Islam

00:31:03especially amongst the youth.

00:31:07We had these anti-protests

00:31:10and from one point it looked like

00:31:11they were taking over control of cities and towns

00:31:14and the regime was facing the possibility of overthrow.

00:31:18But within two days in January

00:31:20they moved in

00:31:21and estimated 30,000 or plus were killed

00:31:24by the regime on the streets.

00:31:2630,000 people at least.

00:31:29Terrible events.

00:31:31Extreme brutality by the besieged militias

00:31:34and the IRGC.

00:31:37Even they were taking people out of hospital

00:31:39who had been wounded

00:31:41and seeing if they had been involved in the riots.

00:31:43If so, they were executed.

00:31:45So you have the most brutal and terrible repression

00:31:48which has taken place.

00:31:51And then Trump moves in

00:31:53and he encourages the demonstrators

00:31:55and says that help's on its way.

00:31:58And that America's going to come in

00:32:00and help them.

00:32:03And that's what America's been doing.

00:32:06So now we have this vast array of

00:32:10troops which have moved into the place.

00:32:12US warships have gathered around Iran.

00:32:15On February the 19th Trump gave Iran a deadline

00:32:19of 10 to 15 days to reach a deal.

00:32:24If you work out 10 days from February the 19th

00:32:27is February the 29th which is risen

00:32:30so it's 1st of March so it's today.

00:32:33So actually Trump sort of went one day ahead of his deadline.

00:32:38His conditions were that they should end nuclear enrichment

00:32:42end missile production

00:32:44end arming their proxies

00:32:46and stop killing the demonstrators.

00:32:50The regime said they may make some concessions

00:32:53on the nuclear program

00:32:54but they're not going to do

00:32:55they're not going to stop

00:32:56missile production

00:32:58or arming their proxies

00:33:00or using force against protesters.

00:33:04And so

00:33:04the war started

00:33:06yesterday

00:33:07with attacks on the

00:33:09targets inside Iran

00:33:11and Trump declaring that

00:33:13his aim is to change

00:33:14the regime.

00:33:18It's a dangerous situation.

00:33:22Actually no government

00:33:23has ever been changed

00:33:24just by air power alone.

00:33:26They have to have troops on the ground.

00:33:28And now that they've

00:33:29removed the ayatollah

00:33:31said they're going to take revenge

00:33:33upon whoever's perpetrated it.

00:33:36And the revenge is going to come

00:33:37they say upon Israel.

00:33:39This is a map

00:34:12we will finish it.

00:34:14We're ready for war

00:34:15so no one dares

00:34:16to fight us.

00:34:18So that means

00:34:19it's by no means over

00:34:20because they've hit

00:34:21the ayatollah.

00:34:22They are aiming

00:34:23to strike back

00:34:25and they're aiming

00:34:25to send missiles

00:34:26into Israel.

00:34:28Already done so

00:34:28there was an attack

00:34:29on a place called

00:34:29Beth Shemesh

00:34:31today

00:34:32which I think

00:34:32about nine people

00:34:33were killed in

00:34:34and there's a danger

00:34:35that they're going to

00:34:36send some more missiles in.

00:34:39Another thing is

00:34:39that they have been

00:34:41the nuclear question

00:34:42is really not

00:34:42the most serious one.

00:34:43The most serious one

00:34:44is the development

00:34:45of these advanced missiles

00:34:46including hypersonic missiles.

00:34:48They have one called

00:34:49the Koram Shah 4

00:34:50ballistic missile

00:34:51which is able to

00:34:52travel at speeds

00:34:55of Mach 16

00:34:57which is very fast.

00:34:58I don't know exactly

00:34:59how fast that is.

00:35:00They can go outside

00:35:02the atmosphere

00:35:02and then come in

00:35:03and they're very difficult

00:35:04to locate

00:35:05and to fight against.

00:35:07And the danger

00:35:07is if one of these missiles
