00:07This is an opportunity of a lifetime fighting it out for his funding 18 ambitious entrepreneurs
00:18It's a deal worth fighting for action
00:22That was amazing I can't hear all the chat and I do think we're getting it wrong 18 candidates
00:30I
00:3212 tough weeks. This was absolutely ridiculous. You screwed up one life-changing
00:38Opportunity you're fired. You're fired. What's a bloody mess. You're fired
00:52Previously you're going to manufacture mini cheese
00:56Phil ruled the kitchen with an iron fist. I asked you to press it down before I went in. Yes, chef
01:02But his fruity creations
01:05Heartbreaking was it this common it failed to impress it looks like something a primary school class could have made
01:12Palusha's team fumbled the figures how many grams are in a cage in a hundred?
01:15No, it's not. There's a town, but they're creepy creations
01:18Let's have a look okay
01:20Sealed the win well done ladies well done phil felt the heat you're leaving me nowhere to go
01:28But it was Paul there were simply too many mistakes who crumbled
01:33You're fired
01:35Now 16 candidates remain to fight for the chance to become Lord sugar's business partner
01:425 a.m.
01:43Hello
01:44Good morning Lord sugar would like to meet you at the outer net in central London the cause will be outside in 20 minutes
02:02We've got 20 minutes to get ready we're going to the outer net in London
02:13Outer net isn't not gaming. I'm never gonna get used to this
02:18Your p.m. today mate. I'm p.m. today my big day today guys
02:23If we get mixed with boys like I thought they're gonna bring us to hell
02:27They'll be happy because we've got more brains potatoes
02:29Yeah, exactly
02:31Lucky aftershave this never loses
02:44We've had two back-to-back losses. Yeah, what a way to turn it around now. It's on me my birthday yesterday
02:5135 years young
02:53Peaking now hedging like fine wine fine Tuscan wine although I don't drink
03:01In the heart of London
03:04Immersive entertainment complex out on it
03:11Engaging audiences in breathtaking new ways
03:23To prove yourself worthy candidates you need to search for the clues
03:30Crack the code 30495
03:33And find your way to my board
03:46It's amazing isn't it
03:48Well done you made it just
03:56For your task this week you'll be entering the world of virtual escape rooms a market predicted to be worth
04:05seven billion dollars by
04:072028
04:09Harnessing ever-advancing video game technology
04:14Virtual escape rooms offer the players the chance to puzzle their way through any number of different environments
04:21Without ever leaving their home
04:23So I need you to create a virtual escape room concept and design a playable demo
04:30Before pitching it to investors the team that receives the most investment will win and on the losing team
04:37At least one of you will be fired as the boys have lost the last two tasks
04:43Lord sugar has decided to mix the teams up so Trey Paul and Steve
04:48Would you please move over to the ladies team?
04:51And from the girls Maura, Amina, Onyeka and Sam, please move over to the boys
05:03Good luck and off you go
05:07Teams have two days to create a virtual escape room
05:11Before pitching to industry experts
05:14Right guys first of all ladies welcome to the team
05:17First job
05:18That briefing was so amazing i'm so excited for this task that was epic put someone at the controls
05:26Is anyone interested in being project manager so i'd like to put myself forward for project manager you know i'm very creative
05:31I've played a few games in my time as well i too would like to put myself forward
05:35I have over five years experience pitching to investors alongside that i played a fair few online escape rooms
05:40I've done a few escape rooms myself and i do have a very clear vision for this as well
05:44Ultimately this task is down to how much investment we get from the investors so yeah i feel like i would be strong to lead this
05:50So should we take a vote who would like flow to be project manager based on that i guess looks like your project manager cool
05:58Excellent
06:00I'd like to think i'll be a collaborative project manager ultimately though i'm quite delivery focused and time is of the essence in these tasks
06:06So i will be whipping the whip i think the biggest thing to remember is teamwork so we've got this
06:13Across the hall as you know i'll be pm leading you to victory
06:18Already pushing buttons one thing i'm really keen on is collaboration i believe in a flat hierarchy
06:24project manager asif
06:27So guys team names is important well i we've got a very strong team so i was thinking something like the avengers
06:33Prana which means energy pirana no prana team prana
06:42i've got one yeah i think this might be the one go on team supreme so i've done a little spin on the
06:48Spelling so it's s-u-p-r-e-a-m wow that's good that's nice so super ream team supreme i've offered supreme
06:58yeah supreme
07:01Nexus so nexus means to be part of a connected group name nailed down i really like that everybody i think
07:09that's good yeah yeah next riddle for recruitment consultant flow so we've got some decisions to
07:15make on our concept and what the plan is for our escape room pin down a proposal for their game
07:22you know you're a king leading an army uh your crown's taken off you and it's basically the concept
07:26of trying to get out to pull the sword so my idea was um medieval setting and the objective is to
07:33collect lots of different items to create a potion to stop the black plague spreading to that through
07:38that town on branding i think we should be looking at sort of like the stone sort of golds browns
07:45that sort of really like just medieval as we see it thrill flow seems to be very tunnel vision but it
07:52is a collaborative venture so hopefully she can get other people's opinions involved rather than just
07:58going with her concept alone you crash land on a desert island consulting his team on concepts
08:07and then you sort of move into the countryside which is like a sort of a world that you've never seen
08:11before dr asif guys are plane crushers there's only limited supplies with like really rare animals
08:18and we could have like devil rats and stuff coming at you that sort of thing no no i agree some kind
08:23of random animals which are like the inbred you could be in like a sort of buggy thing so you jump
08:27on the buggy and then you're going through the countryside stuff's coming at you that sort of thing
08:30and then you get to the boat at the end jump on that and head off and maybe there's a bridge that
08:33comes up and before that bridge comes up there's a key that makes the bridge come down yeah good shout
08:38asif i personally think that there's been enough ideas put out there i think you need to yeah yeah
08:42yeah yeah yeah so crash landing on a desert island needing to overcome uh various obstacles that's
08:48a concept everyone happy with that yeah the key to a good escape room is simple but well thought out
08:55unfortunately there's so many different concepts happening in here it's confusing to me i would like to
09:00put onyekia as the sub-team leader developing the game with sam phil and jack yeah i'm gonna sit
09:07myself on the actually designing the escape room next job for flo it was sort of my concept my vision
09:14put players in their place and then on the branding side for lucia yeah doing that so i've got a business
09:21myself so i've got a lot of knowledge when it comes to branding i think i'd like to be in the branding space
09:25i think yeah fonts etc i think i'll work in the branding as well just because i've got a little
09:30experience with the computing game i'm happy to sub-team leaders i appreciate we work really well
09:35together okay so um rachel yeah you're heading up the branding team of sub-team leader and then trey
09:41raj and felicia yeah doing that yeah i wanted to be in branding i know but five people want to be in
09:48branding so unfortunately i can't have five people in branding okay
09:52i'm a very creative person so personally i feel like i'm in the wrong team so i'm hoping that the
09:59branding team understand what they're doing let's go smash it we've got this another win under the
10:04belt i like it i'm not losing cool okay 11am while half of each team head off to build brands
10:15the rest will produce playable prototypes the key thing is is not to make it too easy but not too hard
10:22so it's about finding that balance and when in doubt guys go with the flow go with the flow
10:30that's so good east london base for both teams hi there hello design agency cherry duck studios
10:42so i'll start with some of my ideas brainstorming names for their game wrecked maura verdi amina and asif
10:50the last survivors last survivors escape the countryside no no no that's that sounds like
10:58a tv show survival of the creatures or something survive what about um survivor island that sounds
11:05like a tv show so maybe something to do with time running out of time because they're running escape the
11:10island survival mode with a hyphen that's so long what do you think of fallen fallen escape fall and
11:16escape i like that fallen escape it is guys i think that's generic but at the same time it's pretty
11:21specific as well so i'm happy with that
11:26next door what if we called it medieval escape name chosen i mean it's safe it's safe and it's obvious
11:33next create a logo for their brand flow was pretty specific about goldeney stone colors
11:42nice it just looks really dull i don't think so
11:47do you mind if i just put in because i've got a very clear idea on how this would look yeah let's
11:51just have a look at that so the bottom of the word dye is red again can we try that out please yep
11:57oh that looks kiddy now yeah actually i've got to agree with you may put a little bit of gradient
12:03one second let's let's finish this look what do we think about this i think it looks nice my only
12:07concern with what we've got so far i think it's quite dull should we look at icons let's look at the
12:12icons that you've got there i want to see if we could play with the eye in dye i think you know what
12:17we're going to overthink it and mess this up so we should have put anything i don't think so
12:21the logo design that we made hits a speck of the brief we were given it just doesn't appeal to me
12:27as a potential consumer so i'm slightly concerned about how that's going to come across to the
12:31potential buyer it does say medieval but i just feel like it looks so boring i'm happy keeping it
12:36simple like that agreed that e could be some sort of pathway navigating their logo design that makes
12:46sense so i don't know there's a road passive steam i would love an arrow there as well and i
12:51arrow to make it into like a pathway this is the route out i think you're over complicating it to
12:55be honest so it's con it's a convoluted way but it joins the two e's together right away when i'm
13:02looking at it quickly i just see like this kind of snakey thing yeah it's a little bit confusing so
13:07that's the entrance and then and the end will be the exit so the last e the bottom e you need to have
13:12an arrow like this yeah okay just just checking on that that looks really good we're not over-arrowing
13:17no no no two hours long entrance entrance and exit we can either go that way yeah exactly it's
13:23like a maze then guys i think we are done
13:29at digital animators parachute there's a plate that's coming to the village and the town mayor
13:36is basically on a mission priority for flow to collect all the goods around the town to create a
13:42potion for a cure flesh out her medieval game i think we need to make it a bit cryptic one of
13:49them would be a book of spells and then they have to go to the potion room where there's like a a wall
13:56of books and then on those books like the numbers coded there's a map next to it that has one a two b c
14:02and then it spells out recipe yeah how can we make it extremely exciting
14:06like medieval is not meant to be like you know super i was thinking maybe to make it exciting we
14:13should have like time i don't know if that's necessarily a priority oh and then it's going
14:18to be going through to different rooms but by and large the items they have to collect to create a
14:22potion to do the cure to open the dining hall and feed the town to give them the cure for the plague
14:27next door a survivor military grade person in a helicopter that's about to crash plotting out
14:37their survival game when he tries to reach the exit door i think that's where we can incorporate the
14:42first puzzle of looking for the actual lever company secretary on yekka marches the troops through her
14:48plan on this first scene do you reckon in the distance somewhere it might be worth just showing
14:52the vehicle we're going to use no that's not what we're doing okay cool once he's out he looks
14:57across at the helicopter as it's already exploded finds the trunk that says open the trunk and collect
15:02your survivor essentials then there's like an old abandoned warehouse where they find the buggy then
15:09we reach the petrol station and then at this point that's when like some of the animals start coming
15:13then he reaches like a waterfront but he has to cross over a bridge to a mini boat
15:19two p.m with the name we have gone for medieval escape while flo gets a breakdown on her brand and
15:31then the colors we have a mix of the golden tones and red also doing the rounds there's a pilot that is
15:38crashing onto this deserted military island dr asif what's what's the name drum roll one two three
15:47fallen escape what's it called fallen escape so what's what's the story behind the name so
15:56basically there's two e's and there's a sign of a road with two arrows going on both sides so he's
16:00trying to give that escape aspect that you can escape one way or the other way when you guys see it
16:04you'll understand more what we're trying to come from you'll love it is like the escape hanging from
16:08the other e or what no yeah so so there's two e's both e's they're both on top of each other yeah
16:14and they're connected as like a road okay great guys thank you guys best of luck catch up with you
16:19later thank you bye bye bye bye bye bye bye east london preferably someone ethnic minority which is why
16:29it's based on me creating a character for their demo to just make it a little bit more interesting
16:34music man trey channels a medieval man so basically it's going to look like me tall dashy and handsome
16:41fairly young and fairly cool so maybe this one a bit younger because you want him to be a bit dash
16:46and slightly attractive okay yeah that's nice i want him to go grayer why are you making him less
16:52attractive then 40 year olds have grays i'm nearly 50 i haven't got grays go a little bit less gray please
16:57yeah uh can you try a mustache like freddie mercury let's try maybe a small little shakespearean type
17:04beard let's see how that looks oh wow i like that i like that with the beard so i think it's great
17:10taking on this role as the mayor you know a mayor that actually looks cool looks like me which is
17:15always a bonus he looks even better so close up i guess executive decision happy okay save this
17:25building a backstory for their survival game she'll be guiding the players asif's team
17:33i'm thinking of something of the lines of starting like sometimes life puts you in situations where
17:39you've fallen and you can't get out but remember there's always a way to escape soldier there are
17:46going to be many obstacles across your way but understand if you put your mind through it your
17:52clues and what's around you you will make it out alive yes let's start the game all right cool i'm
18:02liking that i like that yeah you guys up to that dj dj mc verdi not just a dj not just a dj
18:104 pm this is going to be the persian room designing the details of their medieval world can we get a
18:16bookshelf please in this room so we can do the recipe of spells bookcase in here paul nor steve
18:21and flo can we please put a pig on the table in the throne room i've got something to tell you just
18:28when i'm playing a game i like it to be fun do we have time to add like extra scary stuff like ghosts
18:36no um and then we just need people in the dining room as well i was also thinking to have like a run
18:42hang on slow down because we because ian's still not quite with us so we need the pathways connecting
18:46the houses that can be utilized can we have a sheep if you see a sheep you'll know that there's
18:52something going on like why would there be a sheep in the middle of the room that's a bit random though
18:56i'd like horse carriages outside of the town we don't have time for every single thing though
19:02i don't feel like i'm being listened to in that room i have a lot of ideas that will make the game
19:08even funner because the game right now it's absolutely boring next door if we can get the
19:18chest or the box mapping out their survival game so inside that can we then have like an items in
19:24there phil jack sam and onyeka so the player will now get into the bus and start driving it to the
19:33petrol station can we get the bear beware you might be chased by a native bear wait hold on
19:38guys are we doing the animals yeah a few bears can we should we get like three guys i'm just playing
19:46devil's advocate here he's not too much you don't think he's too much no okay
19:53so i don't know about it's my lack of gaming experience but some of the stuff is a bit
19:58far-fetched and they're telling me it makes sense as a gamer so yeah i'm just going with it on that scene
20:06it would be good to see the boat in the peripheral just so you obviously know you'll get into the boat
20:10at that stage it's a isolated island all of a sudden there's this boat where's that come from
20:196 pm our village has been hit by a deadly plague while trey transforms into the mayor we can't save
20:28ourselves but we hope you can on the other team if you want to use your hands you can do that hands
20:35close together hands up like this director verdi prioritizes performance let's go for a take okay
20:44sometimes in life you fall it's your time it's your moment yeah
20:51sometimes in life there's threats sometimes life puts you in situations where you are fallen
21:03sometimes in life you are looking in this world too much so you need to your front view is your
21:10is the person you're speaking to you take three in life sometimes there is situations the only thing
21:16i'll say with that is head up chest high and if you want to use your hands you can do that
21:23ferdy definitely thinks he's steven spielsberg it's just the house introducing the game
21:28i just want to get it done imagine this is your yoga class your students are facing that way okay
21:33that's who you're speaking to
21:34my name is leonardo and you can call me leo 9 pm that's amazing i'm proud of you you can do this
21:47characters in the can guys i'm happy that is a masterpiece playable demos
21:52done wow i think that looks phenomenal tomorrow convince experts to invest
21:58good morning guys great to see you all again for dr asif the big reveal
22:11second opinions on the name and logo hey oh
22:18okay i'll just give my initial feedback on it being completely honest it looks a bit like a petrol station
22:24sign or like a supermarket brand or something like that my immediate thing with the e is like
22:29you know like environmental yeah recycling sign yeah i mean guys i mean yeah i wouldn't say it's the
22:36most exciting logo ever for flo so excited to see it brilliant a first look at her brand
22:45oh guys you've done such a crappy job i feel like the brand is just very basic
22:53is it just basic or is there anything else you want to could you have added anything else
22:57like i don't know i wasn't in we did have the option to add an icon actually but it just didn't
23:02look right for example when you think of a brand you think of a logo actually the word is the logo
23:08you've nailed the brief yeah really happy sometimes in life there is situations like now you have fallen
23:18for the other team but remember there is a way to escape we are about to go through a battle
23:25the premiere of verdi's intro video you can do this good luck soldier are you happy
23:34from the introduction i don't think it's 100 clear in terms of what the game entails from
23:42playing a lot of games myself um sometimes from the trailer i don't want to know too much that's
23:46happening but i feel like she's sending out her soldier into this desert island this is not a
23:53battlefield game this is an escape game battle is against yourself or sergeant cody you could say
24:00she's like your uh you know subconscious mate yeah exactly i think it really really needs to be
24:04explained to the investors what that is because we don't want to give them the wrong it's your inner
24:08voice almost on it's your inner voice it's it's confusing for the user i don't have a clue what
24:14i'd be doing based on that intro video our village has been hit by a deadly plague and you must collect
24:23the potions in order to create the cure after meeting their mayor thank you so much for taking
24:33the brief i think that is so good drilling down into their demo you start off in the mayor's house
24:40it gives you a few items to collect dentist paul okay so some barrels there wonder what oh there's
24:47a crown so clearly each letter of the alphabet is represented by the coordinating number and there
24:54are on the other bookshelf some books with numbers so yeah i'll just talk you through the story and the
25:00story so by and large the items they have to collect to create potion to do the cure and then the doors
25:06open to the dining room and then it's like hurrah the town is saved for now dot dot dot if i'm being
25:12really critical i just think there's not enough clues to go and find the items an escape room has
25:17clues that lead you to another clue that leads to the item whereas here it's like collect the items
25:23save the people it feels it feels like a game not an escape room from the project management team i
25:29was just expecting something a little bit more complex i mean it doesn't feel original it doesn't
25:33feel new so i'm slightly worried that the consumers are going to pick up on that it's not like super
25:39innovative in a way i just think what we've done really well is both the branding the logo and our
25:45game have aligned really really well i absolutely agree so basically you have to pick up the handle
25:54to open the door across the hall when you come out you see a military trunk and then it will basically
26:00show you the items that you need to collect fathoming out fall and escape this is actually like a military
26:07bus project manager asif okay so you've got some bears knocking about with the petrol station
26:14and you have to do the code and then i can see the final destination which is the boat oh we can dance
26:22it's it's again completed now yeah
26:32you know it is very simple but hard so it's hard to understand that i need to go pick up four items
26:38and the element of fight that we gave from the actual direction and the intro does not match the game
26:45a massive concern is that the sub team wanted this complicated game where there's different tasks
26:52but when you actually play the game it does not make sense 9am teams divide
27:03so asif didn't actually appoint a sub team leader i'm happy to step up as sub team lead yeah oh cool
27:12hello hello i would love to put phil forward for that role we we did do a vote um for myself to be
27:25sub team lead but if you want phil to sub team lead that's absolutely fine police yes appreciate the
27:30coaches well pressure's on you now phil central london welcome to medieval escape for half of flo's team
27:46what did you think of the actual character himself yeah i liked him a chance to test out their game
27:52on a group of gamers so what did you guys think about like the structure of the game
27:57i haven't felt that i am actually escaping anything it was straightforward and clear to play
28:06and it's just lacking a little bit of adrenaline for yeah my appetite can you give us any feedback
28:11on what you think of that it seems unfinished probably i would just scroll and not click on
28:16that game because it would seem a little bit cheap to be honest
28:18across town sometimes in life there is situations taking the temperature of the target market the
28:29initial intro video did that capture your interest sam jack phil and moro
28:37i thought the video was boring to be honest how closely is the game actually relating to that intro
28:44from your thoughts not at all are you having fun anyone
28:50it's hard to say i don't know if we've missed something or not do you think the logo looks
28:55enticing is it is a drawing in to actually play the game it looked a little bit like a supermarket
28:59logo okay you're thank you if you bought this game how long would you play it for five minutes
29:05and i'd be asking for a refund 4 pm boulevard theater yes guys hi guys before pitches begin when they
29:19first went on there there was a bit confused with what's just happened for both teams they said from
29:25the outset it wasn't completely obvious how to play the game a chance to feedback their findings
29:31they said it feels a little bit of a game rather than an escape room experience with it being an
29:38escape room they were said what are we escaping we obviously said the plague it's clear as well
29:44i think escape rooms as a concept actually encompasses more than just escaping from something
29:49they said just the feeling of urgency to get the quest done it felt quite relaxed so just another point
29:55that you can address 5 pm crunch time waiting a panel of potential investors including industry giants from
30:08the worlds of gaming and visual effects right time has come first out medieval escape okay here we go
30:17yeah super we're so excited to pitch you our investment proposition now you may be aware but the online
30:27gaming market in the uk in 2021 was worth 2.9 billion 10 of this is made up of virtual escape rooms
30:34so with this in mind i am so delighted to give to you medieval escape our village has been hit
30:54by a deadly plague and you must collect the potions in order to create the cure
31:01you must find these items before it's too late trey's living nice we shall start up the game now
31:13this is the real time like this is the moment and we shall enter into the throne room right i will go
31:21around here i'm seeing a throne and okay i can see a few barrels here's a crown right here we go we are
31:28making progress in this now i will enter that potion room and see if we can find anything in here
31:36so a book of spells okay some books on the side there let's have a look at this one i know he's
31:43explaining and doing it but i need him to finish it on time yes i managed to pick that up and i've got
31:49the spell book fantastic and in terms of the actual finish of the game you can unlock the village hall
31:56because you have the cure in your hand because you found all the items in our inventory
32:04um we welcome any questions that you have for us and we're really excited to answer them
32:08my name's tom i'm the ceo at little lion what's the what's the sense of fun with this what's the sense
32:16of engagement what's that sense of joy and conviviality which which is an essential through line right
32:23so so the joy is actually in regards to the dopamine hit of overcoming those challenges and
32:30working as a team to be able to overcome those challenges a dopamine hit i mean that was about
32:36as fun as a wet fish in parts name hi my name is julia charles from julia charles event management
32:44for me it lacked in its difficulty and it lacked in its kind of its real punchy moments
32:52um if you see this as a kind of a start point to introducing those characters and introducing
32:57that that universe yeah absolutely you've got to capture me at this point for me to stay with you
33:02as a valid member of your community you've got to capture me now of course we're limited today but
33:07certainly take that on board and you've gone medieval which do you know what has got so many avenues but
33:14don't play it safe thank you so much for listening us today thank you thank you for your time
33:22visually and from a narrative point of view i thought it was really strong
33:26it lacked for me it lacked in the hints and the help kind of fun like yeah the fun
33:30putting their survival skills to the test asif's team
33:44now imagine this a military helicopter pilot crash landing onto the shore of an uninhabited derelict
33:54old military island welcome to fallen escape sometimes in life there is situations like now you have
34:04fallen but remember there is a way to escape we are about to go through a battle and there is clues along
34:13the way you can do this so at the moment the demo that we have provided is in a draft stage so we've
34:23wanted to do a base for you just to see the initial concept she's already told the client she doesn't
34:28believe in it it feels like she's saying this is a bit crap but trust us we have now arrived at a petrol
34:35station you can see that the dangers behind grizzly bears my goodness that's brilliant someone's laughing
34:44what's happening now we are almost at the end of our journey our users run to safety and make the ship
34:52on the harbor
35:00thank you onyeka thank you you do know that that was bananas right
35:04i think it was great well as in bananas i think it was as in you do see that that was crazy right
35:16because if it is surreal and it's supposed to be great i'm in if it's not then it's chaos
35:23yes it's surreal yes it's real just take a guess it's not meant to be surreal it's meant to be realistic
35:29oh god it's a dangerous island so these are realistic bears in in a war zone in a in an escape room
35:38on an island no so definitely if i if i if i'm it is supposed to be um unrealistic it's supposed to
35:45be an imaginative feeling so what we want to do is create a different perspective there's something
35:50that that that they would never see before okay hello i'm carl i run the immersive group at framestore
35:57one thing i'd like to ask you really is if the gameplay itself has nothing to do with
36:02falling and the game is called fall and escape i think it'd be quite easy to be confused
36:07i appreciate your point that it's like anti-climatic once you fall is there any more falling
36:14no it's all about escaping so do you think it's anti-climatic then
36:20in terms of the fact that when it comes to the falling aspect i understand that position however
36:24that escaping is where it's all about digging himself a hole we've also put the ease together
36:32it's a symbolic we've got a symbolic nature we've done there um in order to represent the uh direction
36:38to the escape i think i mean it looks like a bit of a deer in the headlights i think she's froze
36:43thank you all for your feedback thank you they all said that the other team's concept of medieval
36:53was lackluster yes that wasn't boring i wasn't i wasn't bored i did laugh i was entertaining we'll
37:00give them that um yeah they should have gone they should have gone like completely out of this world
37:05with it yeah seven pm all guys pitch is over right the pitch went well we were confident we got the
37:16message across but the questioning was damaged i mean watching that pitch i felt like i just wanted
37:22to jump in there and take over to be honest so a little bit frustrating but hopefully they've done
37:26enough to get the investment there were a few questions that's for us that were pretty challenging
37:30but i think fair play to you guys i think you absolutely smashed it thank you so much flo took
37:35the responsibility of project manager it was her concept so ultimately if we do lose this task it is
37:41her responsibility tomorrow in the boardroom no escape you can go through to the boardroom now
38:00right i ask you to launch and brand a new virtual escape room so flo you took charge of a team called
38:30nexus is that right i did yes right so you use a pun you went with the flow yeah yeah we used that a few
38:39times though yeah um okay so tell me what was your strategy next um yes i had the concept of it being
38:47in a village um yeah back in um medieval times and there was i guess a town mayor who had to go around
38:54the village and find items to create a cure for the plague that was soon to kill the villagers bearing in
39:00mind that your story is about a plague do you think your plague is going to be infectious do you think
39:06they're going to buy it with the right investment yeah who designed the game uh i took the lead on
39:12designing the game itself and then uh steve pitched in to help with the uh making sure that the concept
39:18followed throughout the game okay and no what did you have to do you thought it was boring didn't you
39:24yeah i did yeah we prioritized probably other things um and some of the ideas therefore didn't
39:30get taken forward which is a bit of a shame yeah right let's get it let's run it so lord sugar let me
39:37take you back in time to medieval england where we can see a parchment on the floor that will give us
39:43some instructions of what we need to do let's go in here on this table i can see a pig there with a
39:49heart so that answers the second clue the heart of a glutton we shall pick that up and we have now
39:55added that to our inventory as well so we can place the items here
40:01and then the village hall opens fantastic
40:06it's not a game of thrones it's more of a game of yawns
40:08uh right so the branding team you got on to the intro of yelling yeah well let's have a look at
40:16them shall we yeah our village has been hit by a deadly plague and you must collect the potions
40:25in order to create the cure we can't save ourselves but we hope you can
40:34see what's going on so this character from what i heard is based around you trey is that right
40:42that's right well i know it's been generated by a computer you made yourself look better
40:48yeah um yeah what we wanted was something that potentially could be an iconic character a bit like
40:54lara croft that would just give the game a few more usps than it otherwise would have had right
41:00okay now i'm going on to the pitch right um so yeah i let it open and then obviously we'd brought
41:07trey across a little bit of a stumble in the beginning i understand yeah i think there was
41:11about two second pause where i just tried to get myself together a little bit what's the general
41:15gist of what the experts said they particularly like steve and trey but you know game was basic
41:22and we lacked umph hmm right let's move on asif yes what you got we've got the name of the team
41:30called supreme is that right that's correct yeah supreme to me it sounds like a chicken dish
41:38so how was your brainstorm if i'm being totally honest which i'd like you to be when we left the
41:45brainstorm i don't think anything was completely clarity clear i think i think that's not entirely true
41:52i think the team did leave did leave the meeting knowing that there was the broad concept of some
41:57kind of escape on a deserted island with some sort of crash escape the island yeah logical we
42:04wanted to break away from the very overdone concepts of medieval sci-fi horror in escape rooms
42:10and the whole point of an escape room is escape and the initial kind of concept what do you think
42:14what do you think of that one you saw that what do i think i think it's um it's been done many times
42:20before oh right okay let's run it so this is the moment where the helicopter crashes so the player's
42:29now out of the helicopter he's trying to survive so the player's like epping forest i mean
42:37so now we've kind of made it out of the forest and he's entered the vehicle we're now making the
42:42journey to the first stop which is the petrol station and if we look behind us we'll see danger of the bears
42:47oh yeah so they actually do roar uh just to give it a bit of an effect and now we've collected the fuel
42:55and then this is the last section the player can run to safety right the guy's scared of the bears
43:02and wants to escape why would he be dancing it's the adrenaline rush hmm so anyway phil yes what did you
43:10do as far as the landscape of this thing is concerned i kind of worked out quite quickly that onyeka
43:17had a very clear vision and she wanted to do this herself her way or the highway i think it wasn't
43:22necessarily that i wanted to do it myself i think within the team in terms of who had more experience
43:26or knowledge of playing escape rooms i was the one that was there so yes i led it in that aspect but
43:32i definitely welcomed everyone else's idea let's just move on a little bit to the branding team
43:37yeah so this is the logo for an escape it's also the name of the escape room as well what's all that
43:44stuff in the e in the middle so the e is a motif looks like spaghetti junction the e e i'll take
43:49responsibility for and i'm still i think once it's explained it just becomes self-explanatory it's
43:54like a route out of the folder and going nowhere look it's going nowhere right let's have a look at the
44:00intro what the intro was about sometimes in life there is situations like now you have fallen but
44:08remember there is a way to escape we are about to go through a battle and there is clues along the way
44:19you can do this fall and escape is more like falling asleep is that your voice over there yeah it is
44:27yeah okay let's find out what the uh investors had to say right so tim supreme how'd they get on
44:38well although there were some issues with the game they liked elements of it so they decided that they
44:43would invest 50 000 pounds for further development harran nexus what happened there well they thought
44:52medieval as a theme was completely overdone but they liked the narrative they loved the character
45:02and on that basis they did say they would invest 170 000 pounds into further development wow
45:12well well well done uh well you spent the last few days the cutting edge of technology so now you're going
45:22old school i'm sending you to the tomb raider live experience okay off you go see you on the next task
45:30good luck guys well 120 000 pounds difference so i'm going to send you off you're going to come back here
45:46and we'll go into more detail later on okay off you go welcome welcome we need to find the elemental
46:04relics are you up for the task let's go team come on i think we won because we had such an excellent team
46:10everybody followed my vision and that's what makes winners we all stuck to flow's belief you know
46:18she would have listened to me we could have done even better come on leo would be proud come on let's
46:24go did it so leo the incredible character obviously looks like me it's cool i'm just glad that resonated
46:32with the investors yeah the very first meeting we didn't know what we were doing maybe a clean
46:46summary at the end of that meeting sounds like it may have been beneficial for everyone i think the
46:50development team will be to blame for this the game was confusing in many aspects and there was bears
46:56there like you won't really find bears on a derelict island i think there was a lot of confusing things
47:00which i did bring up like i don't think that makes sense i don't think this makes sense in the
47:04pitch yes they said it was confusing but i think the concept itself is what actually got us that
47:09investment it all falls down to the project manager he should have given us clear directions and we
47:15never had that prior to the pitch when you had the opportunity to switch like amina blessed like
47:21she was a bit frozen on stage but i think that's because she doesn't have experience with public speaking
47:26like that ultimately amina was put on the wrong team she should never been pitching
47:30it wasn't a strength it was like there's three of them pitching rather than four
47:43yes lord sugar yes would you uh invite the candidates in please
47:57well asif yes what you in the last task you pleaded with me to make you the project manager
48:10so that you could prove to me what you can do that's right so what have you done
48:16i believe i've led a team to create a novel concept which landed reasonably well with investors
48:26you saw the investors laughing at time to time right and it might have given you a clue and when one of
48:32them suggested that did you want to make this a bit humorous you said oh no no no no no no we want
48:38to keep this very serious no in fact they were hinting to you that had it have been silly calling to tim
48:46this guy said to him he'd have stuck a hundred grand more in hundred percent they said if you'd
48:51lent into the bonkers aspect or the fact it was slightly bananas and owned that they would have
48:57given you more money lord sugar if i may i did actually notice that and that's when i kind of
49:02interjected and tried to kind of change but that's when you had a disagreement with him
49:06in front of the customers it was a confirmation i wouldn't say it was a different a disagreement i
49:10apologize and said that this is what asif did mean to say because it sounds great doesn't it you're
49:14standing in front of the people you're trying to sell and the pair of the left hand doesn't know what the
49:18right hand's doing so anyway whose brainstorm was it to put the soldier at the front you all
49:24collectively made that together but it made no sense i mean that her message leaves me that you're
49:29going into battle it's not a fight you've crashed an aircraft and you're getting out of somewhere it's
49:34a fight against what's one thing got to do with the other the uh consumer research lord sugar said
49:38exactly the same thing as you that it didn't make sense and it had no real correlation to the game
49:42seemed to me it all went wrong in the brainstorm and if you don't understand something even though
49:48as the project manager what did you leave for until he's turned around and pinned him down and
49:53said to him can you as the project manager tell me what you want me to do i did feel as if i was
49:58trying to manage as if into making managerial decisions hindsight is a beautiful thing and i think
50:04in the in the moment the team didn't voice these concerns in your cv you say you're good at everything
50:11one thing i can see is that it looks like i've cured you here because you ain't good at this
50:15your escape was about as complicated as a one-piece jigsaw quite frankly so asif can you tell me which
50:24two people you're bringing back into this boardroom lord sugar on the basis of the game being very
50:29rudimentary i would like to bring back onyeka and for perceived lack of contribution i'd like to bring
50:36back sam who sam are you having me on i've made massive contributions can i change why would you
50:46what why did you say to me can i change are you indecisive or what it's not indecisiveness it's just
50:52it must be i like sam's rebuttal i would like to bring back amina and onyeka what is what why
50:58why is that sorry she's rebutting what are you going to do now that's fine that's my final decision
51:02i think i put a solid shift in both days asif and i saved you from the pitch yeah we actually
51:07helped you you know that asif right okay i'll tell you what we're going to do you now confuse me so
51:14four of you are coming back in here the rest of you you have escaped so get back to the house okay
51:21i'm going to talk to tim and uh karen and then i'm going to call you back in here and at least
51:32one of you will be leaving uh this process today go outside
51:45karen what do you make of asif well what's clear to me
51:48is there was no synergy and that lack of synergy is ultimately his responsibility so what do you
51:54think of onyeka the game was a big problem with this task and she took full responsibility for
51:59driving that she can't get away from that unfortunately and then we got sam seems to me
52:04alan that asif has fought sam back because didn't like what she said about him in this meeting
52:09not what she actually did on task and what about amina a big part of this was the pitch and she froze
52:16on stage and ultimately the investor said that she didn't add anything of value hmm
52:24could you stand the four of them in please
52:35asif when i first asked you who you're bringing back in you came out with sam
52:41so it was the reason for it it seems as though sam's contributions on the game development who
52:47weren't on the same level as the other three in the group i can't believe you could even say i
52:52didn't contribute i was constantly voicing my opinions on things despite my lack of experience
52:56in this field it doesn't it didn't matter i still gave 110 and if i thought something looked a bit
53:01dodgy or i didn't agree with it i voiced that well you could do some contribute as she said she doesn't
53:06have experience so where she thought she could add she did basically look from where i sit
53:11it seems to me the construction of the game is all down to you yes lord sugar because i was the only
53:17person on the team that actually had the experience of i'm pleased you admit that because
53:21at the end of the process i asked some experts to decide whether they liked it or not and they didn't
53:28i know lord sugar and based on their feedback i know that it wasn't perfect and that was seen in
53:32the demo but they did not like the branding and they did not like you have to take responsibility
53:36for it don't you yes and i do i designed the game based on the brief from asif which wasn't even
53:41clear in the beginning one minute you're telling me you weren't briefed next minute you're telling
53:45me he was great did you breathe them absolutely what did you breathe i've briefed them on the nature
53:51of the game you didn't have any concepts of what you wanted in it you decided on the logo that they
53:55did not like you decided on the host that they did not like they did not invest in that is this all true
54:00she's rattling off here like a ak-47 machine they didn't like it doesn't mean it's you know if
54:06you think that what we made the logo is fantastic you have low standards you also made the logo though
54:12no i made the logo but i said why did you bring me in amina you said no can you explain why you
54:18you're now saying that you didn't like the logo but you were there i didn't say i didn't like it and
54:22you helped design it so why didn't you speak up when you were designing it i said you know i did i said i
54:28don't like the arrows you said it looked good in the end i said okay okay i didn't say i wasn't
54:33extending it all right okay listen i'm gonna summarize here sam i'll take you on your word
54:40really of that you did something in this task um so sam you're safe thank you lord jigger
54:48onyeka you did take over the design of the product and uh it was bad product
54:56i mean uh there's some things in this task that weren't very very good design uh one of them you
55:05should have stood up to the project i don't don't talk please don't talk to me um but as if
55:14your claim of being a great leader hasn't come to fruition in my view you know you know be quiet
55:24but um onyeka you did design this product and it leads me to believe that it is the reason for the
55:31failure of the task but as if you're a poor poor manager so it is with regret you're fired thank you
55:51what a bloody mess
55:52i'm feeling gutted but i won't be defeated and this is only going to ignite a real flame in my belly
56:16to get to the next level in my business
56:20i think sam will definitely come back i think the other three
56:23is touch and go between them any of them can go
56:36all i'm going to say is you do not want to be in that bottom three it is the worst
56:41you guys guys lord sugar's here we need to go to the lounge
57:00so good evening i'm here to set the next task
57:04i'm sending you off to jersey the largest of the channel islands jersey may be a small island
57:11but it adds an impressive 14 billion pounds to the uk economy every year now i want you to source
57:19nine items associated with the island and buy them at the cheapest price possible the team that
57:26spends the least amount of money to procure the correct items will win and in the losing team at
57:34least one of you will be fired so good luck
57:42treasure hunt on an island what more could you want
57:46now 15 candidates remain the fight to become lord sugar's next business partner continues
57:54next time you can smell bread though yeah yeah you can negotiations we need to get under that 190 mark
58:02maurie you take it back to us it's too late now logistics we're in a field of cows let's get to
58:09lighthouse keep going every second counts and in the boardroom pretty much the worst team that i've ever had
58:17out on this task a fire sale you're fired the apprentice you're fired over on bbc 2 now if you've spent the
58:28entirety of that screaming at the tv go online to bbc take part they're seeking applicants for the next
58:34series and if you've been at a loss since claudia hung up a cloak a series two of the traitors australia
58:40is at the end of that red button
