00:00It remains the toughest job interview around.
00:03Lord Sugar's on the hunt for a brand-new business partner.
00:07There's no VAR in here. I make the final decision.
00:11Fighting it out for his funding, 18 ambitious entrepreneurs.
00:16Move, move. Let's go, let's go.
00:18All right, it's down there.
00:19It's a deal worth fighting for.
00:22That's too much. Can you please listen?
00:25Don't worry, don't worry.
00:2718 candidates.
00:29I've had enough.
00:30It was like this all day.
00:3212 tough weeks.
00:33If I wanted an easy life, I'd turn the whole bloody lot of your home now.
00:37One life-changing opportunity.
00:40You're fired. You're fired.
00:42It's a total disgrace. You're fired.
00:52Previously...
00:54I'd like you to design a children's lunchbox.
00:57Danny was dinner lady.
00:59I had the idea of a caterpillar.
01:01But her preschool product...
01:03Five a day, keep the doctor away, yeah!
01:05Left the buyers bemused.
01:07I think he looks like he's been held up by gunpoint.
01:10Sohail put his faith in pirates.
01:13Would you buy that for your children?
01:14I would, personally.
01:15I would, personally.
01:16But on board bickering...
01:17Let's try the purple.
01:18I don't think purple is a pirate call, actually.
01:21Gave the team that sinking feeling.
01:23The quiz questions, they were quite boring.
01:27In the boardroom...
01:28They placed no orders.
01:30A win for Danny.
01:31Yes!
01:32Marnie got a mauling.
01:34They think you're a bit disruptive.
01:36But it was Sir Hale...
01:37Very, very bad management.
01:39...who walked the plank.
01:41You're fired.
01:42Now, nine remain to fight for the chance to become...
01:47Lord Sugar's business partner.
01:574am.
01:58Hello?
01:59Good morning.
02:00Lord Sugar would like to meet you at County Hall.
02:02Please pack an overnight bag.
02:04The cars will be outside in 20 minutes.
02:06Okay, thank you.
02:08Guys, find your luck!
02:10We're going to County Hall.
02:14You've got 20 minutes and you've got to pack an overnight bag.
02:16What the hell is County Hall?
02:18I have no idea.
02:20Good morning, fellas.
02:21Get up.
02:22Let's go, let's go.
02:23The competition is getting so tough now.
02:26I do think we're going to win this one.
02:28I just have a feeling.
02:29I'm likely going to be the project manager,
02:30so I doubt you're going to be winning this one, have it?
02:32Everyone's got to be on their APA.
02:35So, do you think maybe this might be your time to be the project manager?
02:47I don't know about that.
02:48Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, Dan.
02:51On the banks of the River Thames, County Hall.
02:59Once a local government landmark, today a thriving hub for both business and leisure.
03:05Good morning.
03:17Good morning, Lord Sugar.
03:19Welcome to the set of Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution.
03:24This production takes a story that was written almost a hundred years ago.
03:29And by making it an immersive experience has brought it bang up to date.
03:35A trend that I want you to capitalize on for this week's task.
03:39Each team will be running an immersive event at a themed location.
03:44Apex, you'll be running your event at Shrewsbury Prison.
03:49And Affinity, you'll be setting up shop at Blissed Hill, a Victorian town.
03:55You'll need to sell tickets, book entertainment and organize food and drink.
04:01The team that makes the greatest profit will win.
04:03And on the losing team, one of you will be fired.
04:07Off you go.
04:09Teams have two days to put on an immersive experience for paying guests.
04:16This sounds like an exciting task.
04:18First job.
04:19Immersive events, who's done anything like that before?
04:22Choose a chief.
04:24So I actually ran a boxing events business.
04:27I would also love to put myself forward for this.
04:30I have run an immersive event before.
04:33I sold almost a hundred tickets.
04:35Guys, just to touch on that, I've run about six large-scale boxing events
04:39where we were hitting about 600 tickets a time.
04:41Yes, you've run events, but I have run immersive events.
04:44I've run...
04:45So...
04:46Yeah.
04:47I think I would be more suited to project manager.
04:49Personally, I feel like in this particular task,
04:51it would be good to have Marnie as a project manager.
04:53Yeah.
04:54OK.
04:55I've literally run an immersive event.
04:56And I feel I should be project manager for this task.
04:59Listen, if Abby wants to be project manager, take it.
05:01Because I can handle you being it.
05:02I don't think you can handle me being it.
05:04Across the hall...
05:08I mean, I've not been project manager yet,
05:10so if you would all be happy, I want to take it.
05:13Taking top spot for the other team,
05:15pest control man, Mark.
05:17So, we've got to choose an entertainment package.
05:20So let's have a look.
05:21So the magician, a starting price at 450 quid,
05:24uses magic and mentalism to create a fun and unique experience
05:27for any event.
05:28So mentalism, that's quite cool.
05:29So we also need to consider the price as well,
05:31because the contortionist is 300 and the magician is 450.
05:35This is the starting price,
05:36so I mean, we can obviously work with that.
05:38I think with the magician as well,
05:39I feel like it will be more involving
05:41because the magician will be able to talk to the guests
05:43and actually do things with the guests
05:45instead of the guests just looking at the contortionist.
05:47So is everyone going towards the magician, are they?
05:49I think the contortionist.
05:50OK, Danny, what are you thinking?
05:51I just think it's cheaper as well.
05:52Yeah, I'm happy with the magician, yeah.
05:53I'm happy with the magician as well.
05:54I think I'm leaving towards the magician.
05:56OK, let's go for the magician, yeah.
05:57OK.
06:00I think the team got a little bit carried away with the entertainment.
06:02Yes, it needs to be good and engaging,
06:05but this is also about making money.
06:07If it comes down to the boardroom and we lose by £150,
06:10was it worth it?
06:11I'm not sure.
06:13OK, so I think contortionist is going to be our best option.
06:17Performer picked out...
06:19And also the contortionist is the cheapest one.
06:21Yeah.
06:22And this is a profit task.
06:23Next on Avi's list, roll the dice on price.
06:29We should come in at around about £100 per ticket.
06:31That's true.
06:32Avi, why don't you give us a top line and a bottom line?
06:34Fine.
06:35And we'll work it with it.
06:36Cool, so the set price, £109.
06:39We can't sell tickets below £99.
06:42That's a rule, OK?
06:44Even I'm going to write that down.
06:46£99, minimum price.
06:49I think these are a bit weird prices with the nines.
06:52Like, do you want to make it 90 or 100?
06:55No.
06:56I want to stick at 99 because it's the largest two-digit number.
07:02I wanted to implement psychological pricing.
07:05£99.
07:06It sounds a lot less than £100 per person, which I believe is enough to win this task.
07:16Pinning down his price point.
07:18Immersive theatre, if it was an overnight thing, looks at about £350 per night.
07:22Project manager Mark.
07:24Should we set a base mark at £200 per ticket?
07:28I think £200 is too high.
07:30I think it's too high.
07:31I do.
07:32I'm just a bit concerned that if we go in at too high of the ticket price, that they're going to be expecting the world.
07:36And if we can't deliver, we're going to be getting refunds.
07:38Well, it's what I'll do.
07:39Let's make it nice, as you know, let's go for £180 the top price for the ticket and £150 the base line, OK?
07:45Yeah.
07:46I actually don't want you to over-promise it.
07:47Has everyone got that down? £150?
07:49Yeah.
07:50So £150 is the absolute lowest.
07:52Yeah.
07:53So is everyone on the same page sheet?
07:55Yeah.
07:56Mark put himself forward as project manager because he felt he had something to prove.
07:59But he hasn't given clear instructions on anything because everyone's giving him the instructions on what to do.
08:04We're going to have to pick what kind of food we're serving.
08:06I'm thinking pub grub.
08:07I am.
08:08So, yeah.
08:09Just bear in mind, we've sort of cost priced it at £20 a head.
08:12Oh, £20, yeah.
08:13Shall we get cracking?
08:14Cool.
08:15Perfect.
08:16Let's go.
08:1710am.
08:19Today, half of each team will firm up food, while the rest tout tickets to their events.
08:25I've been thinking about this cost for the ticket.
08:28Rethinking his premium prices.
08:31Mark.
08:35£180 for one ticket.
08:37I just think it's too hard.
08:38I don't know anyone who would pay £180 for an afternoon to do something.
08:42I originally put down £110, lowest £95, but obviously it's up to you, Mark.
08:46So I'm happy to go for the first hour £110.
08:50One thing I am concerned about is obviously about dropping the price so much now, is when you said to Megan about the negotiation.
08:57If she doesn't get a good negotiation on the food and we get a really low ticket price, we're going to have very minimal margins.
09:03Well, I'm thinking, I mean, for pub grub, I'd like to think she can get it for around about £10 per head.
09:08Yeah.
09:12Shrewsbury.
09:13Step right up.
09:14We have an immersive tour for you.
09:17County town of Shropshire.
09:18Anybody free tomorrow?
09:19I'm finally going to prison.
09:21And base for both ticket selling teams.
09:24We've got an immersive theatre tomorrow afternoon and it's in an old prison, OK?
09:28Tickets are £110 each.
09:30Now I know that sort of stings a little bit.
09:32Would you both be interested?
09:33Not at that price.
09:34OK, tell me what price you would be interested in.
09:36Hmm.
09:37Do you really want to know?
09:38Go on then.
09:39I'd be happy to pay 20 quid.
09:4020 quid.
09:4120 quid.
09:42I mean, we might be able to knock it down to about 75.
09:44People are going to be jumping out, making you scared.
09:46It's food included.
09:47There's a magician and you are going to have the time of your life.
09:49That's way too much.
09:50Way too much.
09:51Yeah.
09:52Come and see us later.
09:54Mark's sales tactic was to go up to people and ask them how much they would pay for a ticket.
09:59Well, when you ask people how much they pay, they either want to pay nothing or they want it very, very cheap.
10:05What kind of strategy is that?
10:07Maybe let's not ask them what they would pay for it.
10:09Let's just tell them.
10:10It was the first one and I know they live in the area.
10:12I wanted to gauge it, but yeah.
10:14On the other team.
10:16What you're going to get there is a Victorian era immersive experience.
10:20Hunting volunteers for their Victorian experience.
10:23And tickets are just £99 per person.
10:26£99?
10:27Yeah.
10:28Is that a deal?
10:29Yeah.
10:30Avi and Rochelle.
10:32Have you got any plans for tomorrow?
10:34No.
10:35No.
10:36Amazing.
10:37So we are creating an immersive experience and it's in a Victorian coal mining area.
10:42So for us immersive means we evoke all of your senses.
10:46So for us that's your sight, your smell, the sound, the taste and the touch.
10:52So it's very interactive.
10:53It's basically where the audience will participate in the storyline.
10:56Richard, have you got a girlfriend or a wife?
10:58A wife.
10:59You've got a wife?
11:00Perfect.
11:01So is your wife free tomorrow, do you think?
11:02No, she's working.
11:03OK.
11:04To be honest, I'm not interested.
11:05I'm not going to waste no more of your time.
11:06Thank you, though, Richard.
11:07Thank you so much.
11:08See you later.
11:09Have a lovely day.
11:10So it's been really difficult and it's frustrating because Avi keeps talking all over me when actually I feel like I'm the one that's building the best rapport people in the quickest and shortest time span.
11:20Michelle, I've got a tip for you.
11:22So instead of you just talking for the whole time, let's do it together and let's lead each other into it.
11:27Yeah.
11:28I think that's a really strong way to do it.
11:31Built in 1793, Shrewsbury Prison.
11:36Once a working jail, today a tourist hotspot, offering an insight into life behind bars.
11:42So we'll just dive straight in.
11:44What is on offer?
11:45Chewing over food choices.
11:47So we've got three different options that we've put forward for you.
11:50Megan and Simba.
11:52We have our Governor's Gourmet Burgers and those would be at £35 per person.
11:57So in terms of a price point, I was probably looking around the £10 mark.
12:00We wouldn't go that low here.
12:02Certainly if you're looking at £10 mark, we could definitely look at doing something with the Prisoner Experience menu.
12:07What would we be looking at in terms of this, you know, Governor's meal?
12:10We could do this one for you for £30 per person.
12:15If we sell all the 30 tickets, help us out, let's do the £20 mark and if we don't fulfil...
12:2024.
12:21Yeah?
12:22Do you know what? Yeah, I'll let you have it at 24.
12:24If you don't get to the 30 tickets, then we'll be at 25.50.
12:27They decided to opt for the most expensive option.
12:31Bearing in mind Victoria said in the brainstorm not to spend more than £20 a head, they spent considerably more.
12:36So far we've got water, 30. T, 15.
12:39So I think we should order six bottles of wine.
12:42OK. Our costings are around £254.
12:45Set in a World Heritage site and offering an immersive look at the past...
12:54It's like I've gone back in time.
12:56Yeah! Everything is so tiny and small.
13:00Blist's Hill, Victorian Town.
13:03So we've got a traditional working class dinner.
13:05We've got fidget pie, followed by rice pudding, which would be at £15 a head.
13:09Fully focused on low-cost lunch, Bradley and Marnie.
13:14We came in and we'd set a budget, believe it or not, as £5 a head.
13:18Help us out, Brian.
13:20I'm going to come back at you at probably around about £12 a head.
13:23You want to come up towards double figures.
13:25He's one for you then. I'm going to give you three figures.
13:27I'm going to give you £8.50.
13:28OK. So I'm going to come back to you with three figures.
13:31I'm going to come back to you at £9.50.
13:33Brian, you're hard not to bargain with.
13:35Give me 25p, Sparkle, because we both seem setting our ways here.
13:38£9.25.
13:39I'm happy with that.
13:40You happy with that?
13:41Yeah.
13:42The team have selected the lowest option just focusing on the profit.
13:47They've got to remember there is the option for guests to request a refund back if they're not happy.
13:52We've just negotiated the price down to £9.25 for the full food.
13:55To then spend £4.50 per head just so they can have alcohol, I think, is a bad move.
14:00Yeah, at the end of the day, it's a profit task.
14:042pm, while Rochelle turns on the charm.
14:08You will remember that for the rest of your life.
14:11So that's £80. Thank you so much, sir.
14:14Struggling to capture customers.
14:16We are carrying out an immersive theatre event tomorrow.
14:20Pest controller Mark.
14:22There's going to be people jumping out at you.
14:24We'll try not to jump out at you too much.
14:25There's going to be food and drink, and we've got a magician who's going to blow your socks off.
14:29We're going to charge £110, but we can work on a deal and possibly going down to £95.
14:33Would you be interested at all at that cost?
14:35We'd love to have you there. I know, you know...
14:37To be quite honest with you, you know, we are the age we are. I'm not sure that that's necessarily the sort of thing that we would choose for a Saturday night out.
14:46OK. Well, if you're interested, we're going to be here in the next sort of hour. Please come back and we can work on the price, OK?
14:51They have not sold what this experience is all about. People jumping out at you, scaring you in some sort of horror show. They're selling the wrong thing.
15:02Ahead of tomorrow's immersive event...
15:05Right. We're going to process you now, so you're going to follow me.
15:08Learning how to play the part of prison wardens...
15:11Stand there. Face there. Don't move.
15:13Megan and Simba.
15:15It's two sizes in prison. Too big or too small, so if you hear any complaints, she's straight into the hole. Do you understand?
15:20Hurry up! I ain't got all day!
15:25Right. It's your turn now. Are you nervous? You look like you're wetting yourself to me. Follow me.
15:32Right. You're going to go through there. You're going to face me. Turn to the left. No smiling. Follow me.
15:41Your legs are on the wing!
15:43Take your hands off your head.
15:48Hey, three! You're on! In you go.
15:56Because the experience has been so amazing today, I feel like the bar's been set really high and Simba and I are really going to have to pull it out the bag to make sure we're nailing it.
16:05Well, this is cosy. Here's my posh cheerio.
16:11Cheerio, good morning.
16:13Getting into character at the Victorian town.
16:16Yeah? Here's my working class one. Cheerio, good morning.
16:20Morning.
16:21Morning.
16:22Marnie and Bradley.
16:26So, what are we mining?
16:28We mine coal, red brick clay and ironstone.
16:30What are these big boots in the back?
16:32Well, they're blasting boots. That's what we wear over our shoes because that's incredibly explosive.
16:38And what have we got here? Are these candles they choose to see with?
16:41Yeah, well, candles need oxygen to stay lit.
16:43Mm-hmm.
16:44As soon as your oxygen levels begin to drop, your candles go out and then you've got seconds to get to an area of safety before you simply black out.
16:52From my time in court and having to look through hundreds of cases, I'm really good at retaining facts.
16:58So, I've got my facts, I know what I need to say and I'm ready to share that with the guests.
17:02I think getting them as integrated with the feeling that they're miners is going to be the best way.
17:105pm.
17:12Hi, everyone. How are you all doing?
17:14With one hour of selling time to go...
17:17It's an immersive theatre.
17:18We know it's a very famous prison and there's a lot of history that's been in there.
17:22Danny, Victoria and Mark...
17:24We have got a magician who's going to be there on site.
17:27So, this will be really fun for everyone to get involved.
17:30Bargain for a bulk deal.
17:33We've got a group discount of £75 per person.
17:37So, I think maybe if you could come down on the price a little bit.
17:40How does £60 sound to yourself?
17:42OK, just two seconds. That's really important.
17:45Guys, we go with the magician though and we only sell here.
17:49We will literally not make a profit.
17:51So, I feel like we have to sell it without the magician because...
17:53Got more business to go to.
17:54If people say, no, we're not coming because they ain't got the magician...
17:56Well, we have to drop the magician.
17:58We're not going to do it at all.
17:59I just think we need to save these in the options.
18:00Yeah.
18:01OK.
18:02So, we wouldn't be able to do the cost for any more with the magician.
18:07How about £55 with the magician?
18:09Again, we're sort of struggling.
18:11I mean, we're happy to do £50 and not have the magician and...
18:15Let's do it for £60 with the magician.
18:18£60 with the magician.
18:19So, that's 12 people at £60 each.
18:21Have we got a deal?
18:22You've got a deal.
18:23One minute there was a magician and then he magically disappeared
18:27and then he wasn't included.
18:29I mean, the ticket price was £50, then it was £60.
18:32I mean, it was a mess.
18:33Well, at least we've sold some tickets.
18:35I think what we need to really, really do now is get a move on and try and sell more.
18:39Just because, obviously, the less tickets we've sold, the higher our cost price per person is.
18:43Exactly.
18:44I'm happy to go.
18:45Yeah, I'm happy to go.
18:46Yeah.
18:4730 minutes to go.
18:50If you get all ten, we would do it for £650.
18:53We'll literally do a photo shoot for free.
18:55OK, £650.
18:56Also looking for last minute sales...
18:59Hello.
19:00Lovely to meet you.
19:01Avi and Rochelle.
19:03So, when we say immersive, we want to evoke all senses.
19:08You're the sound, the...
19:12Sorry.
19:13The sound, the sight, the touch, the taste...
19:17I'm sorry.
19:19It would be £109 per ticket.
19:21I think our break point would probably be ten people.
19:24Ten people.
19:25That's...
19:26OK.
19:2755.
19:28OK, in that case, £65 per ticket.
19:30We can even throw in the photographs for you as well.
19:33How about ten people, 60?
19:35Can you meet us in the middle, please, Susie?
19:37We have.
19:38We have.
19:39You know, we said 55, you said 65.
19:40So, 60 is the middle.
19:41We're already there.
19:42Because we like you guys, we'll do it.
19:44Done.
19:45It was a huge opportunity to upsell photos at the actual event.
19:50Well, I should take that back.
19:52Because Avi keeps giving them away for free.
19:54Not great from the project manager.
19:586pm.
19:59With the magician, he's not just a magician, he's also a mentalist.
20:02So, I mean, this is exciting.
20:04While Mark pulls last minute sales out of the hat.
20:07So, that's £50 a ticket, six tickets, £300.
20:09Yeah, that's great stuff.
20:11Auditioning the contortionist.
20:16Hoping she'll be flexible on price.
20:18Oh, my God.
20:19This is so creepy.
20:20I love it.
20:21Rochelle and Avi.
20:23Are you OK?
20:24Yeah, I'm good.
20:25That was amazing.
20:26Our budget is £150.
20:29We can't do it for less than £150, Ella.
20:32The very lowest I can do is £300.
20:34That's well out of our budget.
20:36Ella, your skill is unparalleled.
20:38Could you meet possibly at £275?
20:41I'm not happy with £275.
20:43I'm sorry.
20:44Ella, £150 is the most we can do.
20:46I will actually do £275.
20:48£275 is a non-insulting price.
20:51No, I'm not happy with that.
20:52And I'm sorry if you feel that we're insulting you.
20:55Can you meet us at £190?
20:57I can't.
20:58I'm so sorry.
20:59You drive a hard bargain, Ella.
21:01£250 and we can shake hands right now.
21:03What do you say?
21:04OK, for you now, I will do £250.
21:09One word of advice to Rochelle.
21:11Stop putting your big foot forward
21:13and I think you can go very far in business.
21:15But until then, you have some work to do.
21:18I'll be honest, Rochelle,
21:20I didn't expect you to jump in with that price of £275.
21:23She started to get really annoyed with us.
21:25Fine.
21:26Maybe that's why we're a bit different
21:28because I have no shame in insulting someone
21:31or in bringing the price down.
21:34On the other team...
21:35Here we go, 51p.
21:36I'm going to put the 50p in my pocket.
21:38How much is in the hand?
21:3951p?
21:4051p.
21:41You've got it.
21:42Nothing.
21:43Looking to work his magic...
21:45..so definitely not...
21:47..enough.
21:48..project manager, Mark.
21:50What do you usually charge?
21:52I mean, what's your going rate?
21:54I do gigs for like £500, you know.
21:56I mean, we're working on a really tight budget,
21:58so we were wondering if we could get something
22:00around £100, Mark.
22:02If you want me to perform, I'll do that for £300.
22:07So we are working on, like, a really tight budget,
22:10and we would love to be able to get that price down.
22:13The fact that you've come in thinking
22:15you can get me for £100...
22:16I know, yeah, this is...
22:17..is not...that was never realistic.
22:19No, I mean, we love you.
22:20We love your tricks and all that.
22:21We really want to, you know, work with you,
22:22and it's just that budget.
22:23We just can't work at £300.
22:25£275.
22:26Have we got a deal?
22:27We've got a deal.
22:28Mate, I've literally given you my lowest, lowest offer on that.
22:32All right, £300 for the 40-minute show, OK?
22:36They came here to negotiate with the magician
22:38knowing they had to buy him
22:39because they'd promised him to their guests.
22:41The guy wasn't budging.
22:42They've had no choice.
22:43I've had to pay him what he wanted.
22:457pm.
22:47Performers secured.
22:49Let me hear your officer voice.
22:50Right!
22:51I'm Officer Jefferson.
22:52You're going to sit down
22:53and I'm going to process you.
22:54Plans in place.
22:56We could give them a silly mini-test,
22:58and it's like, if you didn't pass the test,
23:00you're going down the mine.
23:01Tomorrow, showtime.
23:087am.
23:10Today, both teams will run immersive events.
23:14Well, good morning, guys.
23:15Good to see you both again.
23:17Touching base with his team.
23:19We'll go through how we got on
23:20and then we'll hear how you guys got on.
23:22Mark.
23:23So how many tickets did you sell and how much for?
23:26To the public, we didn't sell any tickets,
23:28so we went to two businesses.
23:30We went in at £75, but they pulled us all the way down
23:33and we couldn't negotiate anything better than £60.
23:35So we got 12 tickets at £60 in the first business,
23:39and then we went to a second location and they were even stricter.
23:44We managed to sell six tickets for £50.
23:47So in total, we sold 18 tickets at a cost of £1,020.
23:54I can't believe they sold the tickets for that low.
23:58They were just basically giving them away.
24:00That's ridiculous.
24:01And I think that had I been there, I would have made a big difference.
24:04So I've got a profit of around about £248 total left over with everything.
24:11Across the hall.
24:13The total number of tickets sold yesterday were 22 tickets.
24:17Catching up with his crew.
24:19Our total revenue is £14 to £9.
24:22Project manager, Abi.
24:24I do need to let you guys know about the photos.
24:29So as part of our negotiation, we did include photos with both corporate clients.
24:34So it is a bit of a hit.
24:36Did berries definitely get that included?
24:39I don't remember mentioning that photos were included.
24:42So, to make it clear, the only people who get free photos then are VA Tech.
24:47OK, there's going to be ten people from there.
24:48I don't think you should do that, Abi.
24:49If there's a big group and one group sees some of them getting free photos,
24:52you're going to have to.
24:53We promised them that, Marnie, yesterday. It was part of the deal.
24:57I'm really not happy with the fact that Abi has promised photos for free.
25:00We've lost a huge opportunity there to upsell it.
25:03This is going to be a memorable day.
25:05A lot of people would have bought pictures and we've now lost that opportunity.
25:09Still digesting the numbers.
25:11What did you get it for? Was it £25.50?
25:13£25.50 per head, yeah.
25:16Mark's team.
25:18So then there's drinks separately.
25:20We assumed, to be perfectly honest, that the alcoholic drink was included in the £25.50.
25:26No, no, no.
25:27So how much did you spend on the drink in total?
25:29Around £254, I believe it was.
25:32I'm sorry to interrupt you, but the caterer has been in touch and it looks as though you've made a mistake on your alcohol form.
25:41You might want to add your figures up again.
25:44I think it's the wine.
25:46Mm-mm-mm.
25:47I've got a £324 total with everything.
25:51So the water, the wine, the tea, coffee, lemonade, £324.
25:55So we're actually working off a minus today, guys.
25:57Yeah.
25:58So we're already done.
25:59You know, we had full intention that you were going to go out there and you were going to sell these things.
26:02All right, all right.
26:03We are where we are.
26:04I want to work with Marnie and run the whole experience and I would like Brad to work with Rochelle in the kitchen.
26:16Is everyone happy with that?
26:17I'm more than happy with that.
26:18Good.
26:19Dinner service is £345.
26:21OK.
26:249am.
26:27Teams divide.
26:29We are running at a loss, which we've calculated to be about minus £63.
26:33So we need the upsells today on the photos.
26:37Yeah, absolutely.
26:38Also, tips I think is going to be really important.
26:44Shrewsbury Prison.
26:46Right.
26:47You're going to come in into two lines and shut up, OK?
26:51Sentenced to a day as convicts.
26:53Come on, we ain't gone all day.
26:55We're going to get you processed.
26:57This isn't a school trip.
26:58You are in prison.
26:59Megan and Simba's guests.
27:01Right.
27:02You address me as either Officer Jefferson or Yes Sir.
27:07Is that understood?
27:08Yes, sir.
27:09You out there right now, quickly, and you as well.
27:13Off you go.
27:16Now, we've got your jumpsuits for you.
27:20I don't care whether it fits or not.
27:21I don't want to hear any complaining.
27:23Do you understand?
27:24Yes, sir.
27:25Stand up.
27:26Right now.
27:27Yes, sir.
27:30Those shoes, the basic cheap stuff, is it?
27:33Get out there right now.
27:34Go on.
27:35Yes, sir.
27:36Sick of the sight of you.
27:37We are going to test your writing skills.
27:46Taking a more wholesome approach, court advocate Marnie.
27:50Abby, show me yours.
27:52How dare you come to my class and present this.
27:58You know exactly what happens to bad boys in my class.
28:01No, Lady Madeley.
28:02Please.
28:03Abby, up.
28:05Don't make me ask twice.
28:07Bend over, Abby.
28:09Lady Madeley, anything.
28:12Please, Lady Madeley.
28:13No more.
28:14What did you say, Abby?
28:15Harder.
28:16It's sore.
28:17Two.
28:18I think the guests are loving Lady Madeley.
28:20I think they're all embracing the character, really immersing themselves in the experience.
28:25I'm hoping that that continues throughout the day.
28:26Go, go, go.
28:27Did you get that, Abby?
28:28Got it.
28:29Next.
28:30On the other team.
28:31Right, you two.
28:32Jumpsuits on.
28:33In you go.
28:34Make it quick.
28:35Here now.
28:36For Megan and Simba.
28:37First offenders.
28:38An interrogation.
28:39You three, stand up right now.
28:40Can I just say something?
28:41We were not told that we'd be doing this.
28:43We were told we were going to get a guided tour, and it is she?
28:44A guided tour?
28:45And a sort of...
28:46I'm hoping that that continues throughout the day.
28:47I'm hoping that that continues throughout the day.
28:48Go, go, go.
28:49Did you get that, Abby?
28:50Got it.
28:51On the other team.
28:52Right, you two, jumpsuits on.
28:53In you go.
28:54Make it quick.
28:55Here now.
28:56For Megan and Simba.
28:57First offenders.
28:58A guided tour.
28:59And a sort of...
29:00Yeah.
29:01History.
29:02You misunderstood.
29:03You three, out there right now.
29:05I'm going to get your fingerprints done.
29:07Oh, great.
29:08Great.
29:09You think that's great, do you?
29:10Oh, this ain't going to be fun.
29:12I didn't think I was going to get shouted at all day.
29:14No, I didn't either.
29:15Wait until you see yourself.
29:16And you'll have something to complain about.
29:17I thought we were going to get a magician.
29:19A magician?
29:20A magician.
29:21I'll make you disappear.
29:23It's really, really frustrating that none of our guests
29:26had any idea what they were walking into.
29:28Mark's the project manager.
29:29Yet, he's failed to tell any of our customers
29:32what the experience is actually going to be.
29:34Next.
29:35It's upside down.
29:36Come on, get it together.
29:37Look at me.
29:40At Blist's Hill.
29:42Veggies coming out.
29:43Oh, look at that.
29:44It looks fantastic.
29:45While construction man Bradley builds up a head of steam.
29:48Pie's going in.
29:51Oh, now we're cooking.
29:54In the prison kitchens.
29:56I think they're going to be arriving in around 45 minutes.
29:58Is that what your gut's telling you or do we know that?
30:00Yeah, about three o'clock.
30:02Priority for Mark, Danny and Victoria.
30:05Serving time.
30:06It's just knowing when to put the burgers in,
30:09because no one wants a cold burger, do they?
30:11No.
30:12Are we going to wait until they walk in and then cook the burgers?
30:15We can have everything else prepped then.
30:17What are you thinking, Mark?
30:19I'm thinking, well, we aim for three o'clock with everything,
30:23but I'd like to think Megan or Simba.
30:25One of them will run ahead and go,
30:26look, guys, we're going to be ten minutes to your location,
30:28and then at least then we can pretty much be ready.
30:31But what if they don't?
30:32The only other option is then, if not, to cook the burgers now,
30:36but leave them under the hot plate.
30:37Yeah.
30:38Then I'm just concerned that they'll be left there for, like, ages.
30:40And they won't be fresh.
30:41They won't be fresh and they'll go horrible.
30:43Yeah, well...
30:49On the other team...
30:50Ladies and gentlemen.
30:51Character.
30:52Ladies and gentlemen.
30:54It's going to be a rough ride.
30:56Trying to keep things on track...
30:58Please step out of the vehicle.
31:01And if you have a candle, make sure it's lit.
31:05Don't actually light it.
31:06Don't actually light it.
31:07Don't actually light it.
31:08Marnie.
31:11Who's going to help him?
31:12Where's his gang of thrusters?
31:13Work faster.
31:14Hurry up.
31:15Swap out.
31:16Get out of here.
31:17Evie!
31:18Wait.
31:19My candle's just gone out.
31:20You know what that means?
31:23Oh.
31:24Oh, no.
31:25Evie!
31:26Evie!
31:27That means there's an explosion on the way.
31:28No!
31:29There's this black damp in the air.
31:30No.
31:31The black damp means the oxygen's going.
31:33I can feel it already.
31:35Oh, God.
31:36Quick!
31:37Quick!
31:38Right!
31:39Back to the car!
31:40Everyone!
31:41Get out of here.
31:42Quick!
31:43Quick!
31:44Hurry up.
31:45There's an explosion.
31:46Actually, he didn't have a lot of information on the space.
31:48He got drafted in at the last minute.
31:50So, understandably, I've had to take the lead.
31:52You're all about to die!
31:54Let's move!
31:55Come on!
31:56Move!
31:57Move!
31:58Move!
31:59Move!
32:00I've got cuffs and I'm not afraid to use them!
32:01You're behind bars.
32:02Make sure your hands are on your heads.
32:04And keep it moving.
32:05Let's move!
32:06Let's move!
32:07Prison officer, Simba.
32:10This prison was built to hold only 171 prisoners.
32:20But because all of you are troublemakers, we had overcrowding.
32:25You.
32:26Come here.
32:27Yes, sir.
32:28What's funny?
32:29Nothing, sir.
32:30So, why are you laughing?
32:31Because I'm an idiot, sir.
32:32Say that again.
32:33Because I'm an idiot, sir.
32:34Louder!
32:35I'm an idiot, sir!
32:36Good.
32:37Get back in there.
32:38Mm-hmm.
32:39Any more idiots?
32:41They got off to a bumpy start, mainly because people weren't expecting the immersive experience.
32:45But they seem to be getting in the swing of it.
32:47They're making them laugh.
32:49Long will the laughs continue.
32:52This moustache!
32:53What is that?
32:57Mid-afternoon.
32:58We have absolutely nailed it.
33:00Ah, look at that.
33:01Oh, that's perfect.
33:03While Bradley and Rochelle prep for service...
33:06We need to start getting these plated and try and get them out as soon as we can.
33:09Yes.
33:10Let's plate.
33:11Still to start cooking...
33:13I just hope we're not waiting too much longer.
33:15Victoria, Danny and Mark.
33:19I don't know why.
33:20I just feel like we shouldn't be as relaxed as what we are.
33:22I know.
33:23We stood around twiddling our thumbs and we've got 18 burgers to get out.
33:27Is there anything else we can do?
33:29I don't think so.
33:30OK, but I really think that we should go and find out exactly what time they're coming so that we can make sure we're ready.
33:37Yeah.
33:38Well, they're doing their immersive experience.
33:41That's right, yeah.
33:42So, you haven't arranged a time for lunch with them?
33:46No, we've not spoken to them today.
33:48You did?
33:49I was in with you.
33:50You were in the morning meeting.
33:51First thing in the morning, yeah.
33:52We didn't plan any of this?
33:53No, well, we didn't know what time it would take to get to the lunch service.
33:56Oh, I'm afraid it's too late now.
34:01Vegan, vegan, gluten-free.
34:03That's the gluten-free.
34:04Perfect.
34:05Rustic lunch resting.
34:07Four waters and then anything on the side as well.
34:09I'll have some lemonade.
34:10Lemonade.
34:11Four lemonades, four waters, yeah?
34:12Yeah.
34:13Let's go.
34:14We're doing it.
34:15We're doing it.
34:16We're doing it.
34:17We're doing it.
34:18Do you have trays in there, Brad?
34:19Do you mind getting two trays out?
34:20What do you need a tray for?
34:21I don't understand.
34:22Oh, for God's sake, just get the drinks out.
34:23Abi, I'm just saying, the food's been sat there for ages,
34:25and I think we should prioritise not their specific drink orders,
34:28just put water in front of them, and then we get the food out.
34:30Not everyone, Marnie, listen to me, not everyone wants water.
34:33But they can just have it on the table.
34:35We're doing it.
34:36We're doing it.
34:37We're doing it.
34:38We're doing it.
34:39Do you have trays in there, Brad?
34:40Do you mind getting two trays out?
34:41What do you need a tray for?
34:42Everyone wants water.
34:43But they can just have it on the table.
34:44No.
34:45OK, I've asked you to do something for me.
34:47Please, can you do it?
34:48Please, can you pour the water?
34:49It's all right.
34:50It's under a hot thing.
34:51It's not going to go cold.
34:52Right, I'm going to help you do it, because you're not listening to me.
34:55I am listening, Abi, but I think we're making a mistake.
34:57They're getting their drinks.
35:01We have had an amazing day so far.
35:04Prison guard performances parked.
35:06Megan and Simba try to lock down lunch.
35:09They're just very hungry now.
35:10OK, cool.
35:11We'll get them on straight away.
35:13Are you guys starting to cook everything now?
35:16Erm...
35:17We've already started cooking some.
35:18There's just the rest of it that needs to do in.
35:20It's going to take about 15, 20 minutes to have everything plated up and ready to go,
35:23OK?
35:24OK.
35:25Do you want to go and get them a drink?
35:26Yes, we will.
35:27Because they're concerned that they might be sat there.
35:28Yeah.
35:29No worries.
35:30All right, we'll do it now.
35:31I'm not sure why the food's not ready.
35:32They've had all day.
35:33They should have been just like bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.
35:35I don't think it's that difficult to flip a few burgers.
35:40Right, so these are our two vegan, gluten-free.
35:42Let's get them on ASAP.
35:43Two vegan, gluten-free.
35:44OK.
35:45Thank you so much.
35:46This was the gluten-free.
35:47Has he taken both vegans out?
35:49Avi's team.
35:50It's the floor.
35:51OK.
35:52Let's go.
35:53I meant to have the vegan option, but that's meat.
35:54And that's the gluten-free one.
35:55OK.
35:56OK.
35:57OK.
35:58Let me take them both back and I will find out for you and get confirmation.
36:01Sorry about that, guys.
36:02Let me see what's going on.
36:03So this was the one that was in the vegan spot.
36:04So can you tell me which one is which?
36:05Because that was definitely...
36:06They were in the right spots when I gave them.
36:07So vegan is thyme, chive is gluten-free.
36:08OK, good.
36:09OK, I think they were in the wrong place outside.
36:10So why...
36:11They weren't, because we made it quite clear.
36:12Yeah.
36:13So I don't know why.
36:14Two vegans and one gluten-free.
36:15When I left them, they were together.
36:16The two thyme were together, the one vegan was on its own.
36:18You've got hungry, thirsty guests who have come in expecting a top-tier service.
36:22They've paid $60,000.
36:23They've paid $60,000.
36:24They've paid $60,000.
36:25They've paid $60,000.
36:26They've paid $60,000.
36:27They've paid $60,000.
36:28They've paid $60,000.
36:29They've paid $60,000.
36:30They've paid $60,000.
36:31And they get the wrong food orders.
36:32It's unbelievably bad.
36:33Everything on there, you're good to eat.
36:34And you can enjoy it guilt-free.
36:35You're fine.
36:36Food is ready for table one.
36:37Quickly, go.
36:38For the prisoners...
36:39Any of these burgers ready?
36:40Just waiting for the onion rings.
36:41Still no nosh.
36:42Sally-Ann, how long have you been waiting?
36:43Half a minute.
36:44A minute.
36:45A minute.
36:46A minute.
36:47A minute.
36:48A minute.
36:49A minute.
36:50A minute.
36:51A minute.
36:52A minute.
36:53A minute.
36:54A minute.
36:55A minute.
36:56A minute.
36:57A minute.
36:58A minute.
36:59A minute.
37:00How long have you been waiting?
37:01Half a minute.
37:02Okay.
37:03We're very hungry.
37:04Well, hopefully it won't be too long.
37:05Guys, these four are ready for that whole table there.
37:07Come here.
37:08Who's here?
37:09Can we start getting some of this food out?
37:11Yeah.
37:12Carrying three plates.
37:13Put your fingers like that underneath.
37:14And then rest that one on top of there like that.
37:16And we've got...
37:17Can you do that?
37:18Just take it out.
37:19The longer you wait there doing this shit,
37:20just get it out the door.
37:21Just get it out.
37:22It's that one.
37:23Table five.
37:24Why are we waiting?
37:28The guests sat patiently waiting for 40 minutes
37:30before they saw any sight of food coming out.
37:33Okay.
37:34So we've got table five here.
37:35All the meat eaters.
37:37I mean, that's what happens when you plan badly.
37:39It's costing their clients patience.
37:41I've got bacon and cheese.
37:43Bacon and cheese.
37:457pm.
37:48This is my special doll.
37:50So don't none of you step out of line,
37:52because she'll get you.
37:56With events drawing to a close.
37:58There it is.
37:59The queen of diamonds.
38:01Next, for both teams.
38:03It's going to be one picture for £5.
38:06We thought they were part of the package.
38:08Last chance to boost profits.
38:10Guess what?
38:11You can actually have that group photo for free.
38:13Any of these that you like?
38:15I do like this one.
38:16Yeah, we'll go for that one, yeah.
38:17Are you happy with these three pictures?
38:19Yeah.
38:20Excellent.
38:21It will be three for £10.
38:22Oh, bless you.
38:23Thank you so much.
38:24You've got a new picture for your fridge now, aren't you?
38:26Absolutely.
38:27Just look for your mug shots.
38:28There we go.
38:29That's such a good one.
38:30That is a good one.
38:31Thank you so much.
38:32We'll get them over to you.
38:34Ten photos at £10.
38:35Also it's £100.
38:36Just tap whenever.
38:37Pap, that is so generous.
38:39Can I just tip £10 on the card, please?
38:41Absolutely.
38:42Thank you so much.
38:43You guys are so generous.
38:478pm.
38:48Well done.
38:49Thank you so much.
38:51Immersive events complete.
38:53Thank you, everyone.
38:54Bye.
38:55See you later.
38:56Tonight, refunds recorded and profits processed.
39:01Destination tomorrow, the boardroom.
39:05You can go through to the boardroom now.
39:14You can go through to the boardroom now.
39:18Right.
39:19Well, I gave you a location each and it was your job to put on an immersive experience.
39:37So, starting with Apex, what was the game plan as far as sales were concerned?
39:45Well, we went in quite high, I think, as a collective group.
39:48We went in quite high.
39:49You mean you came up with a price, right?
39:52Well, originally I said the baseline would be £150 up to £200 and then...
39:55What I heard, you left and you got in the car and the time you stepped out of the car, you'd gone down to £100.
40:02Well, I grew up in rural Norfolk and it was very similar to that and I thought people aren't going to have this disposable income.
40:07We're not in Dubai and this isn't Alcatraz.
40:09You're probably used to negotiating with rats and cockroaches, aren't you?
40:12Yeah, they're a lot easier to negotiate with.
40:14In your day job, but dealing with people is definitely a different forte, aren't you?
40:18I don't think so, actually.
40:19I think we built a rapport with people, we got them laughing and as soon as we said the price, they just turned their nose up at us.
40:24Right.
40:25So, you sold how many tickets totally?
40:27In total, we sold 18 tickets for £1,020.
40:30We were really disappointed.
40:32Mmm.
40:33Obviously, it was difficult because when we were negotiating for the food and drinks, we had to try and guesstimate how many they would sell, but we were obviously very hopeful that they would get the full 30.
40:43Mmm.
40:44You might want to tell Lord Sugar about your negotiation with the magician?
40:47Yeah, I mean, we tried to get him sort of...
40:50We took the mick a little bit, tried to get him £100, £200, but he just kept saying his hands were tired.
40:55His hands were tired?
40:56I know.
40:57Is that one of them?
40:58Yeah.
40:59Not for long, Alec.
41:00Is that part of one of his tricks, was it?
41:02I don't know.
41:03He just wouldn't go any lower than £300.
41:04We'd still be sat there now.
41:05So, he might have managed to make some of your profit disappear then.
41:08So, on day two, what I can understand is that when you two got into character, you started shouting and screaming at these people, and there's one of the punters gone, what's going on?
41:20What is going on here?
41:21I think all of the punters, not one of them.
41:23What is going on?
41:24They got a shock.
41:25Yeah, I think what happened was they weren't expecting it at all.
41:29I think even one of the guests even said, you know, we were expecting a history tour of the prison, and a bit of food, and then a magician.
41:36I was confused to hear, though, that they didn't understand the sort of concept, because we did mention that, you know, there would be some history about the prison, but it was actually an immersive event.
41:45So, it was quite disappointing.
41:46We did say there would be characters, you know, and actors there that may jump out on you and things, and obviously...
41:51We described it as, erm...
41:52I don't think they were jumping out on people, that's not how I would describe it, they were in character.
41:57Right.
41:58How did you get on cooking, then?
41:59I thought it went well, if I'm honest with you.
42:02I mean, gourmet food and wine, I mean, who's in this prison?
42:05Pablo Escobar?
42:06I mean, we worked really hard to try and get out.
42:09Their food was late.
42:10I mean, the first person waited 40 minutes to get their food, and the last person had to wait an hour.
42:15So, it was slow.
42:16I mean, all the burgers were there to be...
42:18They were pre-made, all the burgers, just sitting there on a slow heat, so I'm surprised it took 40 minutes.
42:22But if it took 40 minutes, then that's our apologies.
42:24Right.
42:25OK.
42:26So, Affinity.
42:28Now, erm, Avi, I understand that you rather belligerently insisted that you were the project manager.
42:39Yeah.
42:40So, I've hosted an immersive event before, so I thought I'd be the perfect guy for the job,
42:45because I was clear that this was a profit task.
42:48For me, profit is revenue minus cost.
42:50So, I wanted someone on the selling team.
42:52Oh, God.
42:53Yeah.
42:54For everybody, revenue minus cost.
42:56Not just you, Avi.
42:57Well, yeah.
42:58That's how I remember it, though.
42:59And, erm...
43:00So, Bradley and Marnie.
43:02From what I can understand, he declared the price of his tickets were going to be 99 quid.
43:09So, with that in mind, you were able to kind of think in your minds how much you should go out and spend.
43:15Is that right?
43:16Yeah.
43:17What I was keen to do is give them the lower option, which was supposed to come in at around about £15 per head.
43:20What was it?
43:21It was a fidget pie.
43:22So, a fidget pie...
43:23Fidget pie?
43:24Yeah.
43:25Well, it kept moving around.
43:26Well...
43:27So, how much did you spend on food?
43:29We managed to shake hands on £9.25.
43:31Right.
43:32OK.
43:33And on the sales front, who was selling?
43:36So, it was me and Michelle.
43:37So, what did you sell?
43:38So, Avi did like to get to know a lot of the people we were speaking with.
43:42You weren't asking them for their name again, was you?
43:45And all that stuff.
43:46I was.
43:47Their date of birth, DNA samples.
43:48No, just their name.
43:49Just their name.
43:50It did get a little bit frustrating because we weren't getting the sales.
43:52If it was working, then I would have been OK with it.
43:54How many tickets did you sell totally, then?
43:5622.
43:57And we made a total revenue of £1,400 around that.
44:00OK.
44:01Now, the contortionist, you tried to negotiate, or put it this way,
44:06you put her in a difficult position.
44:08Right.
44:09What did you bring her down from?
44:11So, my mindset going into this was,
44:13we need to get this contortionist for as low a price as possible.
44:17Unfortunately, this is where the disagreement arose.
44:20Yeah, that's where the disagreement happened,
44:21because I didn't know that Avi was going to go with the price that he did.
44:24If I had, I probably would have been a little bit less shot,
44:26so I think the shock was very evident on my face.
44:28What did you get it for, Amir?
44:29He was a bit very...
44:30So, Michelle jumped in and said,
44:31can we do it for 275?
44:33In the end, I said...
44:34It's not a very good negotiation, is it?
44:37It wasn't.
44:38When you're arguing in front of your supplier.
44:40No, it really wasn't, but we still got it down even after that final price.
44:44Hmm.
44:45So, on day two, you and Marnie...
44:48Me and Marnie ran the event.
44:50Event?
44:51Yeah.
44:52And starting off in a kind of like a school teacher manner,
44:55demonstrating how you get the cane if you're a naughty boy.
44:58Is that right?
44:59Yes, Lucy, you're right.
45:00I did receive a whipping and I think it was very...
45:04Did you enjoy it?
45:05I'd be lying if I say I didn't enjoy it.
45:08LAUGHTER
45:09But I think what was most important was the guests found it very entertaining,
45:14and that was the first thing we showed them.
45:16I would have, watching you getting whacked.
45:18Yeah.
45:19Yeah.
45:20Right.
45:21Well, it's time now to get down to the results.
45:24Karen, how did your team get on?
45:26In total, they took £1,234.50.
45:31But they spent a lot on the drinks, the food and the entertainer.
45:36They spent £1,113.
45:39Any refunds?
45:40No refunds.
45:41In fact, the customers loved the experience.
45:45So, that gave them a profit of £121.50.
45:49Right.
45:50And Tim, what about your team?
45:53Well, they made total sales of £1,484.
45:58But they spent a lot, lot less.
46:00They only spent £626.
46:03Any refunds?
46:05Well, I spoke to a lot of the guests afterwards,
46:08and they loved the experience.
46:10There was no refunds at all, giving them a total profit of £858.
46:16Very good. Well done.
46:18So, I'm sending you to the Crystal Maze Live Experience London.
46:24Yes.
46:25So, you have fun, and I'll see you on the next task, all right?
46:28Thank you, Lord. Thank you.
46:29Thank you, Karen. Thank you, Karen. Thank you, too.
46:36Well, go away.
46:38Speak amongst yourselves.
46:40But I can tell you, it's going to be pretty tough when you come back in here.
46:44Okay? Off you go.
46:46Welcome to the Crystal Maze.
46:56Let's go.
46:58It feels amazing to finally win a task.
47:01It's been a long time coming, but hopefully this is the start of something new.
47:04Okay, Abby, I think you need to get the skulls and step on the skulls to get round.
47:08My strategy is to become project manager one more time and win.
47:12That would put me on a hat trick, and Lord Sugar would surely put me into that final fight.
47:18Will you start the farms, please?
47:24One thing that I loved about this task, it allowed me to show a different side of myself,
47:28and really show Lord Sugar and the other candidates who I really am.
47:31Cheers to all our hard work.
47:33See you today.
47:39I think that price mark of 180 was unrealistic.
47:42But it was a collective decision. We were going to go for 180.
47:44But starting at 180 and dropping to 55 is extraordinary.
47:50The failure of this task lies with Simba and Megan.
47:53I don't know why they've gone for the highest food point.
47:55It's crazy to have done that.
47:57The actual food spend was extortionate.
47:59They got their food for £9, and ours was £25.50.
48:02The £9 that they went down to, that was their lower end.
48:05Why didn't we choose the lower end?
48:07I think the failure really lies with Mark and the ticket-selling team.
48:10You didn't sell the immersive event properly.
48:13The guest didn't know what it was.
48:15How in God's name have you not thought about it and gone,
48:17do you know what, it's a profit task, let's go for the lowest end of food.
48:20Because you wanted us to sell tickets at £180 per person.
48:24I think the failure of the task lies with Megan.
48:26I think that she's completely overspent on the food.
48:28If we would have spent the same amount as the other team,
48:30we would have had almost £600 back in the profit.
48:32Could you send the candidates in, please?
48:44Anybody good at maths here?
48:59Yeah, I'm not too bad at maths.
49:01Maybe I've just arrived from the planet Mars, okay?
49:04Is that what you do in your business?
49:05You spend more on your cost of goods than you do on the sales?
49:09No, I know the location of where my business is placed.
49:11I didn't know the location of Shropshire.
49:14I was working off, you know, Greg.
49:16It's nothing to do with a bloody location.
49:18It's to do with simple economics, simple maths.
49:23Yeah, we didn't sell the tickets,
49:25but we did speak to about 50 to 60 people,
49:27and every single one of them said,
49:28you're in Shrewsbury, you're not in London, guys.
49:31It wasn't the people of Shrewsbury.
49:34It's the description of what you were selling was incorrect.
49:37I think they definitely understood the concept, though,
49:39because we were sort of having a joke with them.
49:41Victoria, Victoria.
49:42They did not.
49:43They expressed it to these guys, they expressed it to me.
49:46None of them knew they were going to be prisons for the day,
49:49which is why they paid a low price.
49:51Seems to me you defrauded yourself.
49:54Anyway, when you heard this amount of money that they had spent,
49:58did it not ring bells to you lot?
50:01It did, but we didn't realise...
50:02In what way?
50:04In what way?
50:04Simple maths, simple maths, you know?
50:07I charged 10 quid to kill a rat, right?
50:09There's only two rats.
50:11That's 20 quid.
50:12But I've spent 30 quid on rat killer.
50:15Does that make any sense to you?
50:17It does make a lot of sense, but, I mean, you know,
50:19why did we add the booze anyway?
50:20Because they were prisoners of the day.
50:22Because you wanted to sell these tickets at £180 mark.
50:25I don't think you understand.
50:26I made the executive decision to go for the decent food
50:29and to give them a drink as well.
50:30It's a profit task.
50:30To give them value for money.
50:32At the start of the day, I'd worked out some costings,
50:34and I started off saying we should cost the £20 per head,
50:38and you spent way over that.
50:40If you're flying in first class, do you get served coach food?
50:42Yeah, but these people aren't flying in first class.
50:43They're coming to the prison.
50:44But they're paying £180 a ticket.
50:46They're not paying £180 a ticket in first class.
50:48They're not even getting on economy for that.
50:50It literally makes no sense.
50:52It's a metaphor.
50:53On top of that, when you heard the news about how much they'd spent,
50:56you kind of, like, poured more oil on the fire,
51:00and you paid the magician £300.
51:03I pulled the team aside before any deals were made,
51:06and I was really pushing for us not selling the tour with the magician
51:10and just selling it without, and then in that way,
51:12we wouldn't have had the extra cost of the magician.
51:14So, what, you said no?
51:15Yeah.
51:15Well, I said, look, we'll take the money at £50 a ticket,
51:18we won't have the magician, and the MD was like,
51:20we want the magician.
51:21Also, with the food, I worked it out,
51:23and even if we'd have gone for the lower option on the food,
51:25we'd have still lost this by a long shot.
51:27No, cos I think if you would have negotiated down,
51:29like, even the lowest option for you, price was £15,
51:31so you definitely could have...
51:31But we would have still lost, even if we'd have gone for that.
51:33No, but you definitely could have negotiated that down as well.
51:35But the point is, we would have still lost.
51:36But that's not the point.
51:37We would have still lost,
51:38because the margins weren't there with the ticket price.
51:40Do you know what?
51:41I'm not even going to ask you,
51:42you're bringing back into this boardroom.
51:44I'm telling you,
51:45you three are coming back in this boardroom, OK?
51:48You two go back to the house, OK?
51:50Thank you, Lord Sugar.
51:51Thank you, Karen.
51:52Tim.
51:58Right, I'm going to speak to Tim and Karen.
52:02Step outside, and I'll call you back in shortly.
52:04One of you's going to go home today.
52:06Thank you, Lord Sugar.
52:15Mark runs a business,
52:16and so far, all he does is make excuses,
52:19as far as I'm concerned.
52:20Even when Mark knew the cost of the food and drink,
52:23he still went with the entertainment.
52:25Yeah.
52:26You should have been thinking to cut costs,
52:28not add costs on.
52:30Victoria, she's quite bright.
52:31Victoria's on the selling team,
52:33and, Alan, she didn't sell anything.
52:35I mean, they have to be responsible
52:37for the fact that they didn't sell all the tickets,
52:40and they sold them at a very low price.
52:43And Danny...
52:44Like Victoria, Danny is also responsible
52:46for the lack of sales in this team.
52:48Hmm.
52:49Well, thanks for that.
52:50I'm going to bring them back in
52:51and give them a final chance to convince me
52:54why they should remain in the process.
52:57Hi, yes.
53:01Could you send the three of them in, please?
53:12Your task was supposed to be
53:15an immersive prison experience.
53:18The irony is,
53:19is that they're the only prisoners I know
53:20that ask for their sentences to be extended.
53:24Yeah.
53:25It was so good,
53:26they're trying to tunnel back in.
53:27Yeah, it's true.
53:29Yeah.
53:29It's true.
53:30The people who went to the thing said,
53:33bloody hell, I don't know how they did that
53:35for this amount of money.
53:36We tried to...
53:37I mean, members of the public
53:38would not pay anything over £25.
53:40Actually, I think Mark and Danny both had said,
53:43when speaking to customers,
53:45how much would you pay for the tour?
53:46I wasn't actually saying that.
53:48That was what Mark was saying.
53:49We were asking about the price,
53:50and I think it was actually Mark that stepped in
53:52and said, what would you pay for this?
53:53Well, I had to, because...
53:54I don't remember actually saying that.
53:55Well, I think I did say that,
53:56because we were just getting pushback after pushback,
53:59excuse after excuse,
54:00so I thought, well, let's just gauge
54:01exactly what some of these people are thinking,
54:03and they were all saying £25 to £30 maximum.
54:06I was there.
54:07You did not sell the experience.
54:09I can't say it any more times.
54:12Not a bloody clue.
54:14Why should you remain in this process, Victoria?
54:17I've given 110% on every single task,
54:19and I've always tried to claw back profits
54:21or gain extra profits, even...
54:23Well, you didn't in this task, did you?
54:25I definitely did.
54:26I think when it came to it
54:28and all the negotiations had been done,
54:30I'd specifically said that the numbers didn't work,
54:32we shouldn't have the magician.
54:33What about you, Danny?
54:34I think I've put in an absolutely solid shift
54:36consistently throughout this process.
54:38I always do keep an eye on profit,
54:40and obviously...
54:41Well, why didn't you keep an eye on it this time?
54:43Because in this case, I was on the sales team.
54:45I was out there pushing.
54:46I was being relentless.
54:47You didn't sell that, did you?
54:48Well, I did actually make the suggestion
54:51that I feel did lead us to make sales in this task.
54:53Mark, why should you stay in this process?
54:56I mean, before the task started,
54:58I'd won more than any other candidate,
54:59five out of seven.
55:00Obviously, it's five out of eight now.
55:01Every time I saw the ship going off track,
55:04I always got it back on.
55:05But what I did also highlight was the fact that
55:07Megan had left that meeting
55:09thinking that we were getting £180 for these tickets,
55:12and it was instantly dropped.
55:13I did highlight that fact to you.
55:15Well, I mean, we had to drop the tickets.
55:16No-one was buying them.
55:17What were we supposed to do? Just stand there all day
55:18trying to flog tickets at 180 quid with people saying piss off?
55:21Okay, I've heard enough.
55:23I'm going to summarise.
55:24I don't want to hear any more from anyone.
55:28Danny, you can talk behind the legs off a donkey,
55:31but you didn't sell in this task here.
55:33If you read my business plan, I don't...
55:35I don't want to hear any more from you.
55:36Yeah?
55:37Do you understand that?
55:38Right.
55:39Just be quiet.
55:41Victoria, all you keep telling me is you did say,
55:46don't do this, and you did say, don't do that,
55:49but you didn't have any impression upon the project manager
55:53to make him do something.
55:55That's my concern.
55:58And, Mark, you're a businessman
56:00who's lost control of the profit and loss account.
56:05But, um...
56:06Danny, I'm not sure whether I've got confidence
56:11in your business acumen.
56:14I said, I don't want to hear any more.
56:19But, Mark, it's never happened before to me in this process
56:24where the teams hadn't even kicked off yet
56:28and they're already in the red.
56:31So, it's with regret, Mark.
56:34You're fired.
56:36Thank you for your job, Jimmy.
56:37Cheers, Tim.
56:37Karen.
56:46You'd better up your games, ladies.
56:48Up your games.
56:50I'll see you in the next task.
56:52Off you go.
56:53Thank God you.
57:06I think Lord Sugar will regret his decision.
57:12He would have got his money back within the first year
57:14if he'd invested in me,
57:15but as long as he knows that I'm the best rat catcher in town,
57:18that's the main thing.
57:21Guys, we're itching to know what happened in that boardroom.
57:24So, basically, he went, do you know what?
57:27I'm not even asking you who you're bringing in.
57:29You three are coming in.
57:30You two, get back to the house.
57:31It's literally like that.
57:35Daddy!
57:36So, how was it?
57:46We all got our chance to say our bit,
57:48and do you know what?
57:49I think it's got to a stage now
57:50where we should all just be so proud of ourselves
57:52for being here.
57:53There's only eight of us now.
57:55Isn't that mad?
57:55Now, eight candidates remain.
58:01Lord Sugar's search for his next business partner continues.
58:07Next time...
58:08I want you to design a men's skincare product.
58:12This is hard to go.
58:14It's not, I think...
58:14Potions and lotions...
58:16It's actually marked Abby's skin.
58:18What?
58:19Creative differences...
58:20I would have gone with just a simple pot.
58:23And in the boardroom, all over.
58:26You're fired.
58:29So there's some final business for Mark
58:31taking a trip over to BBC Two.
58:33The Apprentice You're Fired is about to start.
58:36And puppy yoga is supposed to calm your stress levels.
58:39It doesn't have that effect.
58:40Head to BBC Three for tonight with Target.
