00:00Jerusalem, home of the religious rulers of Israel. Here where the great temple drew the
00:17devout from all parts of the country, a new prophet had come from Galilee. His name was
00:24Jesus, and wherever he went, the people followed him. He spoke with great authority, and his
00:40words were clear and powerful. Moreover, during the feast of the Passover, he had driven the
00:45merchants and money changers out of the temple courtyard. The Pharisees and rulers of the temple
00:50had been very much angered by this action of Jesus. Not only did they regard him as a
00:55troublemaker, but his influence over the people was beginning to change the normal course of
00:59things. Not only were the people following this new prophet everywhere, leaving their homes
01:04and their work to be near him, but if Jesus were allowed to go on, he soon would have all
01:09of Jerusalem worshiping him, and then the Pharisees would lose their power over the people. Jesus
01:16knew what was in their minds, but he did not care to do anything about it then. The Passover,
01:22which was the main reason for his coming to Jerusalem, was over, and now he would take his
01:26disciples back to Galilee. It would be foolish to anger the Pharisees too much at the moment.
01:32Besides, there was his father's work to do in Galilee. And so, leaving Jerusalem, Jesus and his
01:40disciples traveled northward through Judea and Samaria and into Galilee, where in the town of Cana he was
01:48welcomed by the Galileans. Many of them had also been to Jerusalem for the Passover feast, and most of
01:54them had seen or heard of the deeds that Jesus had performed. And so the people of Cana were not too
02:00surprised when Jesus preached to them the gospel of God, saying that the time was fulfilled and the kingdom
02:06of heaven was at hand, telling them to repent and believe in the gospel. Some miles away, in Capernaum,
02:15a small boy was very ill. His father was a nobleman who had hired the best physician to cure his son.
02:23But the physician had given up hope and told the nobleman that his son would not get well.
02:28Not get well. You must do something. I've done all that I can do. I'm afraid he will not live.
02:41The boy was dying. The physician could do nothing more, nor the father, nor the mother. The servants
02:49could do nothing but stand and watch. Then one of the servants remembered. Master, there is one who could
02:57help your son. He has healed others. It is even said... Who? Who is it?
03:05His name is Jesus. He is from Nazareth, but he is now in Cana, not too far away. Jesus.
03:15Yes, I've heard of him. I wonder. Prepare for my journey. Bring my cloak.
03:27I'll bring him here.
03:46In Cana, on the following day, at about the seventh hour, the nobleman found Jesus.
03:51Forgive me. I must get to him.
03:53Master, you must come with me to Capernaum at once. My son is dying.
04:02Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe.
04:08Sir, come to Capernaum, or my child will die.
04:12Go. Your son is alive and well.
04:20Master. Master, we have great news.
04:36Master, we have great news.
04:40Master, we have great news.
04:48master we have great news Lord your son lives he is well again I know I know tell
04:59me at what hour did my son get well it was the seventh hour yesterday sir
05:08your son is alive come I must hurry back and tell the boy and his mother how his
05:16life was saved
05:32and so in Capernaum now there were new followers who having received the blessings of the humble
05:40carpenter from Nazareth were also singing his praises and glorifying his name but even though
05:48the fame of Jesus ministry was spreading far and wide and though there were multitudes who received
05:53the Savior there were still many unbelievers who were ready to reject him and when Jesus came back
05:59to Nazareth where he had lived until he grew up to manhood he naturally went to the synagogue as was
06:05his custom on the Sabbath day on that day the synagogue was crowded for the people had heard
06:12about some of the miracles Jesus had done in other places and though most of them did not believe
06:17these accounts they were curious to see and hear this son of Joseph being the honored guest for this
06:24occasion Jesus had been asked to read
06:26the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he have anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor
06:37he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captive and recovering of sight to
06:45the blind to set at liberty those who are oppressed to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord
07:15Jesus Jesus yes he is the son of Joseph the carpenter how is it he says the scripture is fulfilled does he think he
07:29is the fulfillment of it no doubt you will quote to me this proverb position heal yourself what we have heard you did at
07:36No doubt you will quote to me this proverb.
07:40Physician, heal yourself.
07:42What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here also in your own country.
07:47Truly I say to you, a prophet is without honor in his own country.
07:55But in truth I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah,
08:00when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months,
08:03when there came a great famine over all the lands.
08:06And Elijah was sent to none of them,
08:09but only to Zarephath in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
08:13Ah, yes.
08:14And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha,
08:19and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.
08:25Would he compare himself to Elisha?
08:28He is a false prophet.

09:02So the people of Nazareth, rejecting Jesus as a prophet in his own town, took him out
09:12of the synagogue and up to the brow of a hill.
09:15Their anger was so great that they intended to throw him from the cliff.
09:20And he, passing through the midst of them, went his way to Capernaum.
09:48And thus it was that in Jerusalem the people had followed Jesus.
09:52In Cana he had been welcomed, but in Nazareth, where he had grown to manhood, his own people
09:58had rejected him.
10:01But then as Jesus had said, a prophet is without honor in his own country.
10:08However in Capernaum by the sea, the people received him as their own, so that what was
10:14spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled.
10:19The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, across Jordan, Galilee of the
10:25Gentiles.
10:27The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light.
10:31And for these who sat in the region in shadow of death, light has dawned.
10:43.
11:03The people who sat in darkness were the first priest, Pakistan, Walton, and theandelion.
