Jesus Life Story
Transcript
00:00In the province of Galilee, Jesus was engaged in his ministry to the people.
00:18He had already visited many of the towns and villages and was now on his way from Capernaum
00:22to a place called Nain, about a day's journey.
00:26After a short rest, Jesus and his disciples were ready to continue.
00:32In the city of Nain, a certain woman was mourning the loss of her only son.
00:39This was the second time the woman had experienced a great sorrow, for she was a widow.
00:45And now, with her only son and her husband gone, she was stricken with grief.
00:55As was the custom in those days, the time had come for the bearers to carry the body to the burying ground.
01:11And the mourners were following the sorrowful mother.
01:13The place of burial was situated outside the city wall.
01:21And as the mourners moved slowly toward the city gate, they were joined by other friends and mourners.
01:27But just outside the gate, they met Jesus and his disciples who were entering the city.
01:32Do not weep.
01:51Young man, I say to you, arise.

02:33And when they saw that the young man had been brought back to life, the people knew that
02:50Jesus was a great prophet.
02:55And while Jesus and his disciples continued their travels through Galilee, this report
03:00concerning his raising of the widow's son spread through the surrounding country, even as far
03:05as Judea.
03:07And wherever he went, crowds gathered to hear him, and he taught them many lessons.
03:15Often he went to the synagogue to teach on the Sabbath, and often he was challenged by
03:19the scribes and Pharisees who were jealous of his popularity with the people.
03:23In spite of the Pharisees' growing hatred, Jesus continued his ministry, healing the
03:31sick and the lame who were brought to him wherever he stopped.
03:35And then one day, Jesus once more turned his steps toward Capernaum.
03:44In Capernaum, there was a ruler of the synagogue named Jairus, whose only child, a little girl
03:50of 12 years, was very ill.
03:53Nothing that had been done for the child had helped her.
03:56And now she was at the point of death.
04:20What more can we do?
04:47What is there to do?
04:49We have done everything, and she is no better.
04:58Perhaps not everything.
05:00There is one who could save her.
05:03Who is that?
05:05Jesus of Nazareth.
05:07He's performed many miracles of healing.
05:10If only he were in Capernaum.
05:12My Lord, Jesus is in Capernaum.
05:15I have just come from the lake where the people welcomed him back.
05:19He has returned.
05:21Then there is hope.
05:22I will go find him.
05:24I will go find him wherever he is, and ask him to come here.
05:28Surely he will not refuse us.
05:29Jairus saw no sign of Jesus on the streets, and no one seemed to know where he was.
05:40There was no time to waste.
05:42He must hurry.
05:43He must find Jesus soon.
05:45Eagerly, Jairus continued his search.
05:52After meeting a man who could tell of Jesus' whereabouts, Jairus hurried on with new hope in his heart.
05:58Upon his return to Capernaum, Jesus had received a great welcome from the people who wanted to see and hear more of this prophet.
06:09There were those among them who had seen some of Jesus' miracles.
06:13There were some who had been healed.
06:15And there were some who hoped to be healed.
06:20Among these was a woman who had been suffering from an illness for 12 years.
06:25No doctor had been able to help her.
06:27However, she had heard of Jesus.
06:30And so great was her faith that she knew that if only she could get close enough to touch his clothes, she would be made well.
06:39Meanwhile, Jairus had found Jesus.
06:42Our little daughter is at the point of death.
06:45I pray you, come lay your hands on her that she may get well and live.
06:52When the woman touched Jesus' garment, her illness immediately ceased.
06:57And Jesus turned about in the crowd.
07:00Who touched my clothes?
07:02Master, you see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, who touched me?
07:07Someone touched me.
07:09For I sensed the power went forth from me.
07:11Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.
07:21How she had been ill for 12 years.
07:25How she felt that if only she touched his garment, she would be healed.
07:31Daughter, your faith has made you well.
07:35Go in peace.
07:45Sir, your daughter is dead.
07:48Why trouble the master further?
07:52Do not fear.
07:54Only believe.
07:55When they reached Jairus' house, Jesus would allow no one to go in with him except Peter, James, and John.
08:11Already a group of hired mourners and musicians had come to bewail the death of the little girl, as was the custom in those days.
08:22Why do you make a tumult and weep?
08:29The child is not dead, but sleeping.
08:31The child is not dead, but sleeping.
08:31I'm sorry.
08:33I'll see you next time.
08:35I don't know.
08:35He's there.
08:37He's there.
08:38You look like.
08:39I'm sure he's there, he's there.
08:42He's there.
08:43He's here.
08:44He's here.
08:45He's here.
09:01Little girl, I say to you, arise.
09:31As Jesus continued his ministry throughout the land, there came another occasion when
09:45he again showed his power over death.
09:48It happened in a small town named Bethany, just a short way from Jerusalem.
09:54There, sickness had entered the home of friends with whom Jesus had often stayed.
09:58Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, was seriously ill and growing steadily worse.
10:05Having heard that Jesus was then in Perea, some two or three days' journey from Bethany,
10:11Lazarus' sisters decided to send a messenger to beg the master to come at once and heal
10:16their beloved brother.
10:17After a hurried journey, the messenger finally reached the place where Jesus was staying.
10:29Lord, I have come from Bethany.
10:32The sisters of Lazarus asked me to find you, to tell you that he whom you love is ill.
10:41This illness is not unto death.
10:44It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by means of it.
10:50And even though Jesus loved Martha and Mary and their brother Lazarus, he did not leave
10:54at once for the town of Bethany.
10:58It was two days later when the time had come, the time that Jesus had chosen to go to Bethany.
11:05Let us go into Judea again.
11:08But, Master, the Jews just now were seeking to stone you.
11:12And are you going there again?
11:13They may again try to stone you.
11:15Yes, Lord, is it safe to leave for Judea?
11:17Is it not safer here, Lord?
11:19Are there not twelve hours in the day?
11:22If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
11:27But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.
11:31Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep.
11:34But I go to awaken him.
11:36Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.
11:40Lazarus is dead.
11:43And for your sakes, I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe.
11:47But let us go to him.
11:53Let us also go, that we may die with him.
12:05And so Jesus and his disciples started on the journey to Bethany.
12:08Meanwhile, in Bethany, Lazarus had been in the tomb four days.
12:19And many of their friends had come to Martha and Mary to console them on the death of their brother.
12:25And when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him while Mary sat in the house.
12:30Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
12:46And even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give it to you.
12:54Your brother will rise again.
12:56I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
13:01I am the resurrection and the life.
13:05He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.
13:08And whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die.
13:16Do you believe this?
13:18Yes, Lord.
13:20I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who has come into the world.
13:28Go and call your sister.
13:29The Master is here and is calling for you.
13:46When those that were with her in the house consoling her saw her go out,
13:51they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep.
13:59Oh, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
14:09Where have you laid him?
14:11Lord, come and see.
14:25See how he loved him.
14:27Could not he who had opened the eyes of the blind have kept this man from dying?
14:32Don't.
14:32Don't.
14:33THE END
15:03Take away the stone
15:13But Lord, he's been dead four days
15:17Did I not tell you that if you would believe
15:20You would see the glory of God?
15:33THE END
16:03Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me
16:08And I knew that thou hearest me always
16:11But I have said this because of the people standing by
16:14That they may believe that thou didst send me
16:18Lazarus, come forth

17:22Thus it was that in Nain
17:32Jesus raised the widow's son
17:34In Capernaum he brought back to life the little daughter of Jairus
17:39And in Bethany, the home of his dear friends
17:42He had restored Lazarus to life
17:44I am the resurrection and the life
17:51He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live
17:56And whosoever liveth and believeth in me
17:59Shall never die
