00:10Hey everybody, Pastor Randy here. Welcome back to Making It Simple. We're going to dive
00:14right back into the lesson. We're calling this series Victory. We're building this out of the
00:21last two times that we've been together in this series, The Reality of Evil and What is Good. I
00:29know that you have to for this to make sense, but it helps paint the picture because as we look
00:37at
00:37this one verse, these beautiful words from Jesus, we find him addressing the reality of these things,
00:46that evil indeed is real, but so is good. How does accepting those two things produce a victory in
00:55our life? Where do we find the answer? Well, we talked about this yesterday. We started building
01:00this verse and Jesus said, I have told you these things. We started looking at the significance of
01:12each one of those words and I want to dive back into that for just a moment as we continue
01:17to build
01:18this. So when he says, I have told you, what is the significance of that? Well, it's direct.
01:28It's personal. It's not a third party. Well, I told Bob so that he told Chad so that he told
01:35Heidi so
01:36that then it got, no, he said, I have told you. So this is not a third party, a rumor
01:43circulating or
01:44anything else, but rather this is direct. It is straight to the target, straight from the source.
01:52That's important because when we look at the words as they are written, I, okay? So when I am sitting
02:01here producing this in front of this camera, I singularly am dispersing this message that's been
02:10placed on my heart to you, the listener. That's what it means. Okay. So he's saying, I, so that is,
02:18that is, that is the, that is the, the source, if you will, have told. So when we look at
02:24those two
02:24words, have told, that means it's been completed. It has done. I have done it. I have told it. The
02:34mission is completed. The, the expression, the sentence, where it has been said. I have told you
02:43direct, personal, the intended audience. Well, I didn't hear it. I wasn't talking to you. I was
02:51talking to him. I was talking to her. The direct nature of the message is so important.
03:00One of the, I'll get to that in a moment. He said, I have told, you got to understand the
03:09way that I do
03:09things. Sometimes I get over here and then it needs to wait. So we're going to bring that back
03:14around in just a moment. I have told you these things. Well, what things? You have to have read
03:21prior to that, but to understand the context of what he's saying. I have told you these things. What
03:28things? Every word that I've spoken. What does that mean? You see, friends, when, when someone teaches
03:36and they're sincere, now I'm not talking about a loud gas bag and I'm not talking about somebody
03:44that's trying to draw attention to themselves by screaming or spitting or stomping or rolling in the
03:50floor or showing you their, you know, $200,000 watch and none of the foolishness that has taken
03:58over the airwaves here. And I'm going to tell you, I mean, I got a real, real burr in my
04:06saddle about
04:07some of the stuff that's out there. And I don't profess to know everything. I don't profess to be
04:12right, but I promise you I'm real. There's not, there's not, this is not a character. This is not
04:20a facade. This is not a, I'm trying to be super spiritual. No, I'm just being real because life
04:29is real. And that is exactly what this verse is all about because it's dealing with the reality
04:36of the way things are. So he says, I have told you these things. So again, when one, when one
04:45teaches
04:45from the heart, not from a script, uh, not from a obligatory position because of their denomination
04:56or not from a, a, a crafted style that tries to get attention, but when it's real, when one teaches
05:05from the heart, they truly desire. And I say this from my own experience, they truly desire that not,
05:12not all, not just that everybody listened. You want everybody to listen. Obviously you, you want
05:18people to have at least given you the common courtesy to listen to you. But here's what you
05:24really want. You want them to truly get the intention of the message, the song, the lesson,
05:35the poem, the, it doesn't matter. Whenever someone is, is expressing themselves, their words,
05:44however it is displayed, be it through song, be it through, you know, oration, whatever.
05:51However, you want someone to hear you. When we're having a conversation, you want to know that the
05:58person that is, you're giving this message to this conversation, whatever it is, is actually hearing
06:05what you're saying instead of standing there and scrolling their phone or, or, or looking all over
06:10the place. And then, and you know, when they're not listening, it's not only a disrespectful, but,
06:16it, it, it's bothersome to the messenger because that means you don't care or it's not important.
06:25Here, Jesus was not just serious. He was sincere. That is the, that is the, if we want to use
06:38the word
06:39ministry, that's fine, but that was the intent behind the words of Christ. They have been twisted,
06:47they have been turned, and they have been completely developed into everything, but what they actually
06:54mean. Because we can take, we can take the, the, the life and the example and the ministry and the
07:01words and all the stuff of Jesus and paint the most beautiful picture of hope that there is.
07:08This one verse, John 16, 33, is incredible because we have within it the admission and the
07:18acknowledgement of reality all wrapped around the answer. I have told you these things.
07:30He was, he was troubled by the ways of the world. We should be too. That is not to say,
07:40I'm better
07:42or I, I, I, I've, I've figured it all. It's got nothing to do with, with a position. It's not
07:48a social
07:48statement. It's real. I don't like seeing the pain and the chaos and the confusion and the sadness and
08:00the horror of evil. The reality of evil. Great series. And not, not because I did it, but, but it,
08:08it, it, it addresses the reality of this.
08:11It is not just from the Hollywood scriptwriters pen. It is very, very real. And what we point out in
08:19that particular teaching is it's accessible to every single one of us because evil
08:24evil is not the boogeyman with the scarred up face and, or, or, or, or what? No evil is.
08:33The possibility is there for anybody to be unkind, to be wicked or depraved or harmful words, actions, all that
08:45stuff is there.
08:46So he's saying these things, they bring great harm to my creation. John chapter one, nothing was created that he
08:58didn't create.
08:59And, and the, the road that this takes down, we see all the chaos is happening in the country right
09:06now and it's divided everyone
09:07on politically, spiritually, and all the other concepts. Why? Because people are hurting, regardless of which side of that you
09:18stand on and what you support and what you don't want.
09:21It's still the fact that people are hurting, whether out of confusion, emotion, pain, all of these things are real
09:29and it broke his heart.
09:33All of those things were an issue then. They're an issue now. Because this stuff robs, it steals joy and
09:44steals hope. And what happens in the process of that? People give up. People quit.
09:53These words from Jesus. I have told you these things. This wasn't just scripture. See, many times people today, and
10:07again, I don't mean to be critical, but they want, and I know I've, I've, I've coined this phrase.
10:12And again, it is what it is. And I mean it exactly the way that it's written. They want to
10:17stick a Bible band-aid on everything. They want to quote a verse completely out of context and try to
10:22cause you to think one way or the other.
10:25That's not what Jesus did. Okay. At all. These words that he shared was from the heart because he truly
10:33cares.
10:35And he wants us to know that. That is my message. That is my intent is to share the content
10:43of what we've been given in the way that it was intended to be shared.
10:48To let us know, while it's very, very difficult in life is, and we'll address that as this verse continues,
10:57evil is real.
10:59But what he wanted us to know, it does not have to win. What is the formula? I'll talk to
11:07you more about that tomorrow when we come back right here and making it simple.
