00:01Previously on Project Runway All Stars.
00:03How about this for an entrance?
00:05Your challenge is to create a couture-inspired gown
00:09which conveys feelings of wicked or good.
00:12Let's make this a fashion face-off.
00:14Oh, boy.
00:15There's some stiff competition with Sanji.
00:18It's making me really push myself.
00:20Concentrate on that win.
00:21But unfortunately, I have to beat Michelle.
00:23We might be enemies in a day or two.
00:26I really love this dress.
00:31It looks really raw.
00:33This is amazing, this dress.
00:35Sanji, you're the winner.
00:37Yay!
00:38It's an epic failure.
00:40Just because you spent so many hours on those ruffles
00:42doesn't make them good.
00:43It's wonderfully, wickedly wrong.
00:46The eliminated designer tonight is Chris.
00:51Fourteen of the best designers from Project Runway are back.
00:56And this time, the competition is bigger than ever.
01:01Each week, their skills are tested to the limit
01:03as they compete for the largest prize in runway history.
01:09Who will be cut?
01:11And who will have it all sewn up?
01:15This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:17This morning, we head to Midtown, and we are arriving at the Hearst Building,
01:30which is headquarters for Marie Claire.
01:32I love this building.
01:33Whoever wins Project Runway All Stars will get a guest editor spot at Marie Claire,
01:37so I could be working in this building.
01:39Oh my God, it's Nina.
01:41Hello.
01:42Good morning.
01:43Good morning.
01:44Hello.
01:45Hi.
01:46Welcome to the heart of New York's publishing powerhouse,
01:48the Hearst Building.
01:49This is home to our Project Runway All Stars partner, Marie Claire.
01:53This week's challenge is connected to your past, your present, and your future.
01:58To introduce it, we have someone from your past, who holds the key to your future success.
02:07Please welcome creative director of Marie Claire and Project Runway judge, Nina Garcia.
02:15I think we're in trouble.
02:16The last time I saw Nina was when I was eliminated before Fashion Week.
02:20Welcome, designers.
02:21Hi, Nina.
02:23Nice to see you.
02:25Immediately, I get a little bit nervous when I see Nina.
02:27I don't really know if Nina likes me.
02:29There are quite a few people that are not excited to see Nina.
02:32You know who doesn't love Nina?
02:34People who suck.
02:36Please welcome from Zales the Diamond Store, Scott Davies.
02:40Hi, designers.
02:41I'm delighted to introduce a special jewelry collection exclusively from Zales
02:45that represents a couple's past, their presence, and the promise of their future.
02:50Our past, present, and future collection features rings, pendants, and earrings,
02:54each piece with three dazzling diamonds.
02:57Designers, your challenge is to create a colorful party dress for a celebration that must include your own journey of love.
03:08We want you to include elements of your past, present, and future relationships.
03:15The first person that I start to think about is my boyfriend.
03:20We have gone through so much in the past six years.
03:25All the losers that I've dated, you know who you are.
03:29I was able to get past them to be with somebody who is amazing to me.
03:33We're engaged, and he pushes me to be a better person and designer.
03:37You have a budget of $100 to shop for fabric.
03:40I'm going to be able to buy, like, a little swatch, like, this big.
03:44And designers, this is a party dress, so no black or white this week.
03:49And Zales is generously offering a major prize for the winner of this week's challenge.
03:55Zales is awarding the winner of this challenge a Zales gift card worth $10,000.
04:00What are you doing with all that?
04:02Oh, my God.
04:03My hands are sweating.
04:04Wow.
04:05The winner will also receive an exclusive custom-made diamond pendant from the past,
04:10present, and future collection worth over $15,000.
04:13Oh, my God.
04:14Oh, my God.
04:15What?
04:16Same as the one I'm wearing.
04:18It's gorgeous.
04:19I was looking at the collection.
04:21It's just so pretty, and it's worth so much in dollars.
04:24So, I want it.
04:26So, designers, Nina and I will see you on the runway tomorrow.
04:29So, good luck.
04:32Have fun.
04:33Bye.
04:38To make an emotion into something tangible is priceless.
04:42Every relationship I've been in hasn't exactly ended well.
04:46And I just need to, like, put that from paper to garment and win this challenge,
04:50because that would be really awesome.
04:55In a relationship, there should be freedom.
04:57And so, I didn't want to make anything that was constricting.
04:59I wanted there to be, like, this looseness and something that just envelops the body,
05:03but allows the body to move freely.
05:05I feel a little anxious, because they do want us to put a very sensitive part of our
05:11lives on the forefront.
05:12My look is definitely a balance on being hopeful and also the things that happened in our relationships
05:18that made them go awry.
05:23Ladies and girls, we have 30 minutes.
05:27Watch out, girl.
05:28Go ahead, girl.
05:29Especially with this challenge, I'm taking lots of risk.
05:32How much is it a yard?
05:33Eight dollars.
05:34Eight dollars.
05:35So, I'll take two yards.
05:36Two yards.
05:37I've never worked with vinyl and neoprint, so those fabrics are very new for me.
05:41But I love the look, I love the texture, so hopefully it works out.
05:45Guys, 15 minutes!
05:47A lot of people are choosing reds and pinks.
05:51Give me a yard, please, and the tool.
05:53That's really obvious.
05:55I went straight to gold, because I think when you find true love, it's like finding gold.
06:01I think that's more what I'm after.
06:0699.
06:08Not a cent left.
06:10Thank you, girl!
06:12Bye!
06:17All righty!
06:26I get to the workroom, and I unpack, and everyone is trying to stay focused, but at the same time,
06:31I can see in everyone's eyes that they're thinking about something really deeply.
06:36I can't wait to see yours.
06:37I know, I'm so excited.
06:39I am really missing my husband right now, so this challenge is kind of like my love note to him.
06:45I'm making a cute little baby doll dress with a lace detail along the neckline and then some cute sleeves.
06:52These garments represent so much more than just fashion.
06:55This is our love life in a garment.
06:58So, basically, in critiquing these dresses, they're also kind of critiquing how we interpret our love life.
07:05Kate's known her husband since they were babies.
07:09Yeah.
07:10Since preschool.
07:11They actually came out of the womb together.
07:12Yeah, we're actually...
07:13The same delivery room they were in.
07:14At the same time.
07:15Same hospital.
07:16Yeah, we were holding hands in the incubator.
07:19That's why I'm making a baby doll dress.
07:23It's gonna be a sexy baby doll dress, though.
07:25It's so funny how just like everyone was kind of like in the same vibe with colors.
07:29This color, it is empowering and it's beautiful and like anyone could wear it.
07:34With my relationships, I've always been like the one on the back burner.
07:38My ex-boyfriend didn't even watch a show with me last season.
07:41He didn't watch it?
07:42No.
07:43Oh my God.
07:44And it's kind of like a reoccurring on and off thing.
07:48And I just kind of like threw in the towel and said I can't anymore.
07:51And it's time to just like show my confidence and, you know, my self-worth through this beautiful garment.
07:58Sophisticated fabric choices you got.
08:01I know.
08:02I don't want it to read old, though.
08:03The lace I used is kind of caged in.
08:05And I kind of wanted that to represent my heart in the way that in the past I was guarded.
08:10But then also like now my gate's closed and I don't need to open it to anyone because, you know,
08:16I have the person that I feel like I need in my life.
08:19It's gonna have to work.
08:23You okay, gonna?
08:25Yeah.
08:26As artists, we're very sensitive people.
08:28And I think that one of the biggest inspirations that we pull from is love.
08:31I'm hoping it brings some closure, actually.
08:34I am currently single.
08:36Newly single, actually.
08:38I was completely invested and could still see it unraveling and couldn't do anything to stop it.
08:43And this challenge puts that, like, right in your face.
08:53Ugh.
08:56Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
08:58I have it all cut out and I need to sew this entire dress together.
09:01That's no small task.
09:03This looks a little bit too cheap.
09:05Sorry, I don't want to get emotional.
09:06It looks like a maternity.
09:07Yeah.
09:08Whew.
09:09I'm not a print person.
09:14I like it, though.
09:15It's a subtle addition to it.
09:16Yeah.
09:17And it's kind of chaotic.
09:18Which is what I wanted it to feel.
09:19Yeah.
09:20My breakup was very recent.
09:21And I think that I'm still in the process of trying to cope with that.
09:26I feel like it's gonna help me because I feel like this might be a little bit of closure.
09:31No one's gonna forget that you're a bitch.
09:32Don't worry.
09:33Are they gonna know I have a heart?
09:35The last relationship I had, it was very difficult, very tough.
09:38And I got this tattoo that says love afterwards just to remind me that, like, I will fall in love again.
09:52Don't let the tears distract you from your job at hand.
09:55I'm gonna try to let them help me, actually.
09:56Let them help you.
09:57Yeah.
09:58Yeah.
09:59As of today, I'm not in love.
10:00I am as single as it gets.
10:01And at this point, I am focusing on my career, but I think I am ready for the special person in my life.
10:16My dress has a few sections.
10:18The criss-cross neckline represents my past.
10:21The choices I made and the roads I took.
10:25The middle section represents the relationships I went through.
10:29And the skirt part of the dress, the big and exciting ruffle, represents my future.
10:35Big and exciting.
10:42Ooh.
10:43Hi, all-stars.
10:44Hi.
10:45Hi.
10:46I believe this morning you were at my office.
10:48You met with Nina Garcia, my colleague and friend.
10:51She is an incredible person to work with.
10:54And as you all know, a very tough critic.
10:57So I'm here to help all of you get the best grade possible with Nina.
11:02Hi, Gunna.
11:03Hi, Xana.
11:04Tell me about your, well, your love story.
11:06Got a little rocky at the end, so I'm kind of showing a bit of that in peaks of these red kind of folds that are happening on the top of the dress here.
11:14I think the red is very pretty, but it's also not that surprising.
11:17Right.
11:18You need to bring an element of surprise into this.
11:20There's a lot of red in this room.
11:21I walked in, there was so much red in this room.
11:23It's like Valentine's Day in here.
11:25Push it.
11:26Think fashion forward.
11:27You can do it.
11:28And then Nina will appreciate something that's pushed to your limits as well.
11:32Okay.
11:33I decided to embrace the best relationship I've ever had.
11:37I'm going to be honest.
11:38Yeah.
11:39This dress is, it's fine.
11:41You need something else to wow the judges.
11:43The bad times is where the back comes in, because by having the straps coming and knotting and creating almost like this cage, it signifies how I felt.
11:53And it's kind of the symbolism of that thing in the back is like it's behind me now.
11:58Is it worth trying to do a few more straps?
12:00Is it like that network?
12:01Yeah.
12:02It's confusing.
12:03I thought about that.
12:04Almost like a spider web.
12:07I look at it.
12:08Mm-hmm.
12:09And I'm feeling a little bit Mother of the Bride.
12:12Yeah?
12:13I mean, would you wear this?
12:15I'm hoping to get to the place where I'll wear it.
12:17Ah, well, Sanji, I love the fabric, but that's about it.
12:22Because there is nothing to this dress but the fabric.
12:25I mean, maybe with a little slip, sexy dress underneath it.
12:28Take that.
12:29Take the sexy.
12:30Inject that into this dress.
12:32Mm-hmm.
12:35Someone's in love?
12:37I mean, was.
12:39Oh, really?
12:40Yeah, it's one of those.
12:41Tell me.
12:42My ex-boyfriend and I broke up when I had come back from season 12.
12:45Sorry, I don't want to get emotional.
12:47It's fine.
12:48I mean, look, this is one of the most emotional challenges.
12:50It's so personal.
12:51My last relationship, it started, finished, and now this is new.
12:54So as the lines kind of follow the body, they just end and they're just like,
12:58OK, what's next?
12:59So this is representing the ups and the downs.
13:01Right.
13:02It starts and the finish.
13:03Exactly.
13:04I know it's kind of silly, but.
13:05Not at all.
13:06Look, you've got a reason for everything you're putting into this dress,
13:08and that is very important.
13:10Mm-hmm.
13:11It doesn't feel chic enough.
13:13And just because it's a party dress, we don't have to abort our taste levels.
13:17Yeah.
13:18But this looks a little bit too cheap.
13:19You need to shrink this paneling.
13:21Yes.
13:22Because right now it's just, it's too obvious.
13:24Yeah, it's all about the proportions.
13:26I first walked over and I thought, oh, Kate's pregnant.
13:31Well, maybe that's the future.
13:33Either that or it's for Alyssa.
13:35Because it looks like a maternity gown.
13:37As intricate as this lace detail is?
13:39Yes.
13:40Tell a bit of a snooze fest.
13:41OK.
13:42Yeah.
13:43I do look over at Kate's and I just think Golden Girls.
13:46I mean, it's got some sparkle and glitz, which always shows well on the runway,
13:50but her color palette is really old fashioned.
13:53Long story short, for the past I didn't think I was capable of, so.
13:59Why?
14:00Because I didn't want to be a burden for anybody.
14:04Crazy.
14:05Crazy.
14:06But I met a guy who's been together for over five years now.
14:14And relationship is all about communication.
14:17And he took the effort along sign language to be with me.
14:21So, since I haven't seen my boyfriend for a while, the last thing that we say was, I love you.
14:28Which is this.
14:30So, what I did, I painted my hand.
14:33So, I made it.
14:34So, I love you.
14:36Yes.
14:37Make sure it's clear to the judges, because it's such a beautiful sentiment that it has to be clear in the design.
14:44Yeah, definitely.
14:45How's the design going?
14:47Fabulous.
14:48Tell me about it.
14:49Tell me about your story first.
14:50That's where I want to start.
14:51Um, story?
14:52Let's see.
14:53I was in a marriage, got out of a marriage and headed into another marriage.
14:56I was married before and went through a divorce after coming off the show.
15:00Here, I'm going to do it again and hopefully this one sticks forever.
15:04This girl does not mess around.
15:05No, no, not at all.
15:08We've been together for ten years.
15:10Nice.
15:11I feel like him and I, since we've met, we've been like, we've lived such parallel lives.
15:15So, I wanted to create a piece that's truly symmetrical.
15:19As you can see, the peak of the inside is almost revealing myself more and more.
15:23Because now that I'm in an open relationship, I feel like it's forcing me to be more vocal and honest.
15:29What do you mean by an open relationship?
15:32Like, I have a partner, but we're not monogamously committed to each other.
15:36Does that work?
15:37It's been working for me and it's been fun.
15:41Nope to everyone in the room.
15:43It works.
15:45Like, when you love someone, you have to feel a connection and then, like, that sparkle.
15:49So, like, it connects to the back and then it brings in the sparkle here.
15:52Is there anything personal to that story or is that just more general?
15:55Um, I think it's just how I feel about love.
15:57My relationship status is taken.
15:59Like, yeah, I'm in a relationship and I'm super happy and yeah.
16:04You should be making poetry out of your past, present and future.
16:07Okay.
16:08I have one observation to leave you guys with and it's that I am not seeing enough of your personal journeys in these looks.
16:16You know, like any good artist, you can be vulnerable.
16:19If you guys do that and you become that vulnerable, the judges are going to applaud you for it.
16:24Don't be afraid.
16:25Good luck.
16:28Thank you, Xena.
16:29Xena leaves and I get back to work and I have to finish this dress and prove Xena wrong.
16:47Okay, I need my model.
16:48I can't, I cannot move forward.
16:50The critique Xena gave me, she said my dress looks cheap.
16:53I am anything but cheap.
16:56Hey.
16:58So the challenge today is to create a party dress.
17:04And the dresses have got to be inspired by our past relationship, where we are in the present and what we want for our future.
17:13So it's been a very personal project.
17:20Well, I married my high school sweetheart, but we've known each other since preschool.
17:23Aww.
17:24So that's why I went with like a baby doll dress because I was so young when we met.
17:28She looks adorable.
17:29I love it.
17:30But I can just tell that she doesn't feel sexy in it.
17:34It's my job as a designer to make people feel better than they normally feel when they put on my clothes.
17:39So I think I'm going to chop it up.
17:44Let's go for a little walk.
17:45I talked through with Xena the idea of spaghetti straps being knotted to create almost this kind of cage.
17:52I think sometimes subtle detail is the most classy and elegant detail, but it has to be done right.
17:57It's so sexy.
18:02Bye!
18:03See you in the morning.
18:04Sleep well.
18:05Bye, ladies.
18:06Bye.
18:09I'm going to make something beautiful.
18:10They're going to be impressed by my craftsmanship and everything.
18:13And hopefully they understand like the sentimental value that I'm trying to convey.
18:22One hour, everybody.
18:23Somehow we always manage to pull the out of our asses.
18:27So I'm just counting on my adrenaline to be my friend today.
18:32There's an hour left and I basically have to drape a dress, pattern it, cut it out and sew it.
18:38It was like really cute on her, but I want to make it a little bit more sexy.
18:42Make it sex-cellent.
18:44Sex-cellent?
18:45Give me a sex-cellent dress.
18:46A sex-cellent dress.
18:48I'm just speeding away at the sewing machine and I need to sew this entire dress together.
18:53That's no small task.
18:55Five minutes.
18:56Thanks, Kate.
18:57Thanks, Kate.
18:58That's okay.
19:05I'm gonna faint.
19:07Okay, guys.
19:08That's time.
19:09Aw.
19:10All right.
19:11All right.
19:12Let's go home.
19:16Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
19:18Turn it around.
19:19It's looking a little dowdy.
19:21If one of the measurements is off, the entire dress is off.
19:24Dimitri looks pretty bondage-y, so I'm kind of curious what his love life's like.
19:39Let's get back to work, people.
19:41Did the elves finish it?
19:43So it's the morning of the runway and I have to hem my dress and I have all of the strap
19:49work in the back, so I've got to hand knot those.
19:52Benjamin's dress is interesting.
19:54I really like the different straps in the back, but that's really the only thing that
19:59I like about it.
20:01I'm freaking out.
20:03I scrapped the entire bottom half of my design and I need to re-sew it in three hours.
20:09Hey.
20:10Good morning.
20:11Let me turn around.
20:12I put my dress on my model and then I have to take my dress back off of my model because
20:17I realized I have to put in a zipper, but I can't do this until I have the entire dress
20:22put together.
20:24Gunnar's piece has a lot of stuff going on, but I think the most problematic part of this
20:29is the skirt.
20:30Yesterday I saw this beautiful cobalt blue fabric.
20:34This will look really cute with this red and I feel like it represents my past relationships.
20:39All right, let's hit the cheek hair care salon.
20:44Thinking of like a messy high ponytail.
20:47Tease it and then just clip it because it sounds like you want a lot of fullness.
20:51Good to see you.
20:52I really want to have the hair slick.
20:54Slick that back over like that.
20:56But the hair at the back has to be up.
20:58So let's do that.
20:59Because I don't want to hide the feature of my dress.
21:07Maybe a black or even darker in the center that kind of fades out.
21:11At the Mary Kay Color Design Studio I'm looking for a modern Gothic look.
21:15Maybe this is called Whipberry.
21:17Maybe something with a wet look on the eye, maybe in the navy green.
21:20I love you.
21:21Coastal blue.
21:22It's beautiful.
21:23You love that land?
21:24Yeah.
21:25Okay, well that's where we should go.
21:26Yes.
21:29I need to find a shoe.
21:32I need to find a clutch.
21:34I need to find a husband.
21:36Ah!
21:37From the QVC accessory wall I'm grabbing coral shoes, trapless with an open toe.
21:42I think this color really speaks well with my dress.
21:46Dimitri's looks pretty bondagey.
21:49So I'm kind of curious what his love life's like.
21:5210 minutes you guys.
21:54It's down to the wire and there's just like so much going through my mind.
21:59This challenge, it's all about emotions and representing that intangible thing.
22:03So I hope judges respect my story and what I'm trying to convey.
22:08Okay guys, that's time!
22:10Let's go to the runway.
22:12Bye!
22:13Bye!
22:14Let's go!
22:15Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
22:20There is something tragically romantic about this dress.
22:23It's so freaky.
22:24It's a mess.
22:25I'm sorry, you feel that way.
22:26Okay.
22:27Midway through your design, you've decided to go edgy?
22:32The winner of Project Runway All Stars will be given the chance to create their own capsule collection with QVC and will appear on QVC's Spring Fashion Week.
22:41A fashion spread in Marie Claire and a position at the magazine as contributing editor for one year.
22:47She Hair Care will send the winner to stay in a luxury spa resort as a special guest at their international conference in Cancun, Mexico.
22:54Plus product and staff for an entire year of runway shows.
22:58From Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional makeup artist services for their debut show.
23:06And from Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch their lines.
23:11And $150,000 in cash.
23:18Ooh.
23:19Okay.
23:20Ooh.
23:21Sparkle.
23:22Yes.
23:23So this week, we asked you to show us your vulnerable side with a colorful party dress that includes elements of your past, present, and future relationships.
23:36Let's meet tonight's judges.
23:38Georgina Chapman is sorry she can't be with us this week, but instead, we have someone very at home in the judge's chair.
23:45It's creative director for Marie Claire and Project Runway judge Nina Garcia.
23:51Hi, everyone.
23:52Happy to be back.
23:54Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, designer Isaac Mizrahi.
23:59Looking super dapper tonight.
24:01Thank you, Alyssa.
24:03Our first guest's fashion blog has become one of the hottest online diaries in the world.
24:10Over a half a million people follow her Instagram posts every single day.
24:15Please welcome creator of We Wore What, Danielle Bernstein.
24:19Hey.
24:20Hey, guys.
24:21Thank you for having me.
24:22Thanks.
24:23Our next guest took the crown in his season of Runway, but it was his Project Runway All-Stars win last year that really helped his career take off.
24:32Please welcome designer Seth Aaron Henderson.
24:35Hi.
24:36Hello, everybody.
24:38The judges and I are looking at how you convey your own journey of love in your party dresses.
24:45So, without further ado, let's get the party started.
24:48Good luck.
24:57I love what I see.
24:59The dress looks very cool, very modern, and I think any girl would love to wear it.
25:04Dimitri's first vinyl.
25:06Yeah, I'm not a virgin anymore.
25:09Not a virgin anymore.
25:18Seeing it all together, I'm like, oh my God, like, how did I create this?
25:24The blue just looks amazing to me.
25:36Everything about my dress encompasses my past, present, future, and it's love.
25:44It's love in a dress.
25:46I really don't know what else the judges could want from me.
25:49I'm feeling great about this.
25:50I'm sitting next to Michelle and she's like, it looks great, girl.
25:59I think it's great.
26:00I think it's great.
26:02Every girl wants to be her.
26:16I love everything that I do, but I felt like every single detail about this dress is perfect.
26:23I was like, I nailed this one.
26:26I really love the way my look turned out.
26:37I think it's adorable.
26:38I would totally wear it.
26:39The only thing I wish is that I had time to finish hemming the chiffon.
26:54My look is like, it's party time.
26:57And everybody else, they look like they're going to a dinner party.
27:05Cheeky.
27:06Then I go to the one party.
27:17I'm loving my dress down the runway.
27:19The raspberry and dark maroon are really romantic and speak to the challenge.
27:23I think it's the best constructed garment up there.
27:38I love the way that it's laying on her.
27:39The red is complimenting her skin tone beautifully.
27:46There are a few things that I would like to change if I would have had more time, but I think it's a solid look and I'm proud of it.
27:53It's a party dress and so it's kind of lightweight and feminine.
28:06So sexy, so like night time.
28:08But I am a little concerned about the bust area.
28:11The most professional decision that I had to make with this challenge was to let my emotions out.
28:26Just like take it out of me and put it into this.
28:28Designers, I want to say thank you for bearing your souls for a very personal runway.
28:41It was a great show and Zales the diamond store thought so too.
28:46They were so impressed with your work that in addition to the grand prize of a $10,000 gift card and the beautiful diamond pendant,
28:55they are gifting $1,000 gift cards to all of you.
28:58Really?
28:59Oh really?
29:00That's so sweet.
29:01That's so nice.
29:02That's very sweet.
29:03Now back to business.
29:05If I call your name, please step forward.
29:08Michelle.
29:10Justin.
29:12Sam.
29:13Jay.
29:16Fabio.
29:18You are safe.
29:20Thank you very much.
29:21You can make your way to the backstage lounge.
29:26Bye.
29:30The rest of you have the highest and the lowest scores of the week.
29:34That means one of you is the winner this week.
29:37And another designer will be sent home tonight.
29:45Sanjay, we're going to start with you.
29:47I kind of did that blue on the inside because I felt like it represented my past relationships
29:52of losers that I've dated.
29:54The red represents love.
29:56For the future, I feel like sequence is bright and it represents a bright future for me.
30:00I really loved what you did here.
30:03It feels very edgy.
30:04It feels very modern.
30:06This is so beautiful.
30:08Really fabulous.
30:09Turn around, please.
30:10The back is divine because it doesn't look tight.
30:14It doesn't look like a housewife.
30:17I love how you cut the lace.
30:18I love the silhouette.
30:19And you're completely rocking my world.
30:21Thank you so much.
30:23It's sexy, but it's elegant.
30:25And the pop of color underneath is not something I would expect.
30:28When it first came out, it just seemed so simple.
30:31But I mean, the more I'm looking at it, there's a lot to it.
30:34Let's move on to Gunner.
30:35I recently got out of a two-year relationship.
30:39It was really chaotic and I wanted to have this kind of chaotic fabric.
30:43And red represents my love over all the chaos.
30:47I like your dress.
30:48I like the irony and the fact that it's sort of shaped like a heart, right?
30:52But what bothers me is that people default to asymmetry because it's the easiest way to make a dress fit.
30:59You just kind of sew it down somewhere when that is really not the point of asymmetry.
31:03And somehow this got away from you.
31:05It's a mess.
31:07The back of it just doesn't make sense to me.
31:08It doesn't feel very flattering.
31:10It's like the top was your idea and the bottom just didn't quite work out.
31:15Those darts, I can't imagine those were intentional.
31:19That does look chaotic.
31:21I'm sorry you feel that way.
31:22Benjamin!
31:23Growing up in Sydney, that was when I had my first love.
31:25And I kind of wanted to reference Sydney with this kind of shot of blue underneath.
31:29But then not everything is a dream in love.
31:32So in the back, I kind of wanted to put this detail, which is almost like a cage.
31:36Because sometimes you can feel a little trapped.
31:38And the freedom with the cut of the dress, that's what I'm seeking for my future.
31:43I love the fabric that you chose.
31:45This handkerchief hem, though, feels very Project Runway 101.
31:51The blue that you chose looks like it's a mistake.
31:54Looks like it's a lining that fell off.
31:57This dress had beautiful runway appeal.
31:59As it just stands here, it does go into a little bit of a dance costumey.
32:04The back of the dress is so pretty.
32:06It would have been prettier without the chains around her neck.
32:09The chains make it into a kind of disco moment.
32:11Now let's move on to Helen.
32:13I wanted to make a silhouette that was strong.
32:15It almost gives like an armor appeal.
32:17But it's still vulnerable.
32:18With the off shoulder, I kind of wanted to implicate the highs and lows of a relationship.
32:23And as Nina knows from my finale collection, this color was a great sentiment to me.
32:28And I wanted to give it a new life.
32:30It's a powerful romance that you have here.
32:33The dress has a lot of presence.
32:36The sleeves are absolutely beautiful.
32:39Of all the dresses today, I felt like this was the most emotional one.
32:42There is something tragically romantic about this dress.
32:46I really like this neckline.
32:48It's so new.
32:49Whatever those experiences were that inspired this dress, you got a good dress out of it.
32:54So it was worth it.
32:55Yeah.
32:56Let's move on to Kate.
32:58I've really only ever had one romantic relationship, and that's my husband, Zach.
33:02The silhouette of this dress is really inspired by the innocence when we first met in preschool.
33:07The color is inspired by Florida, where we grew up together.
33:10And the back is open.
33:12It alludes to our future.
33:13It's open.
33:14I love the top half, how it has a vintage feel to it.
33:17And you can definitely see the work you put into it.
33:19The top is just, it's beautiful.
33:21And then you got the bottom, which is not well executed.
33:24Explain to me how that color gives the beach in Florida.
33:28Well, it's more to me like the smell of the air at the beach.
33:31Okay.
33:32It feels more like a neutral to me than it does a color.
33:35This color is poor.
33:37Worse than poor.
33:38It is sad.
33:40It also doesn't help that you're next to the Ferrari here.
33:43I mean, it really doesn't.
33:45And why the hanging appendage?
33:48I wanted to do something that was a little bit edgier, I guess.
33:52Midway through your design, you've decided to go edgy?
33:56No bueno.
33:58Now onto the Ferrari.
34:00As my past, with this crisscross, it's the choices I made.
34:04In my personal life, the bustier part, it's the road and all kinds of relationships I had.
34:10And I hope my future was going to be as fun as this skirt.
34:14Sharp, fiery, sexy, impeccable.
34:19It's really unbelievable that you could accomplish this in such a short amount of time.
34:23What I feel makes it a little bit kind of common is the flounce.
34:29And the back, that is not doing anybody's butt any favors.
34:33I disagree with Isaac because I think that's what makes it flirty.
34:37No, if it was straight down, it would be like something off the runways in Paris.
34:41But as it is, it looks like, you know, the real housewives of something.
34:45Superb, tailoring, cute, sophisticated. I love head to toe.
34:50We appreciate you putting yourself out there.
34:53But of course, we're critiquing your final designs, not your stories.
34:57So we obviously have a lot to talk about, so you can wait in the backstage lounge.
35:03Hi.
35:09Hi.
35:10What?
35:11Who's up?
35:12Who's down?
35:13That was really weird.
35:14It's obvious from the critique.
35:15Bottom, Gunner, me and Kate.
35:17It's between you and I, Kate.
35:19I know.
35:20It's one of us that's going home today.
35:22Her low scores, Gunner.
35:24This dress, I really disliked.
35:26Me too.
35:27It seemed like there was a certain amount of pride that he was taking in that dress, which concerns me.
35:32And then the back of the dress, the back of the dress.
35:35That weird slit and then those two pleats.
35:37I only like the top half.
35:39Yeah.
35:40Not even.
35:41Not even.
35:42I'll say it, it was a mess.
35:45How about Kate?
35:47Choosing that color for this.
35:49And speaking about it as though it's like this wonderful sort of South Beach thing.
35:53Oh, crazy.
35:54Am I nuts or is that like neutral?
35:55I mean, it's pretty bland.
35:56It's a neutral dress.
35:57It's just like she took the scissors and it was jagged.
36:00I wish I saw this before she decided to change it.
36:02Yeah, when it was the baby doll.
36:03Because I imagine it would have been way better.
36:08Benjamin.
36:09I hate handkerchief hymns.
36:10Me too.
36:11That just to me screams sweet 16 bar and bat mitzvah.
36:14Screams dancing with the stars for me.
36:16He picked a good fabric, but there was really not much design there.
36:23Should we talk about the highs?
36:25Dimitri.
36:26It's kind of amazing what he does.
36:28So polished.
36:29Impeccable.
36:30So impeccable.
36:31It's a Ferrari.
36:33And I like a Ferrari.
36:35It's a Ferrari, you're absolutely right.
36:38Was it my favorite dress up there?
36:40I don't think so.
36:41It wasn't my favorite either.
36:42It was one of my favorites.
36:43It was one of my favorites.
36:44I don't know.
36:45That's just another red dress.
36:46Should we move on to Helen?
36:47I think this invention was fabulous.
36:49It was completely new.
36:50And that is a really big accomplishment.
36:53It's like the shoulder line was like a frown.
36:55That was the sadness.
36:56Yes.
36:57That's why I kept saying it.
36:58That's the sadness.
36:59It was like frumpy without being frumpy at all.
37:01It's this push and pull between this hard and the soft.
37:04She put her heart on her sleeve.
37:07Sanji.
37:08I just want to wear that dress.
37:09And the blue underneath was completely unexpected.
37:10And I also got party dress from it.
37:11It was happy, definitely.
37:12Happy.
37:13Yes, Sanji's is very cool, but it doesn't look so special.
37:28I think for this particular challenge, Helen's is very on target.
37:36It's emotional.
37:37Yes, but you don't get to show a fashion audience your story.
37:41You get to show them clothes.
37:42And the best dress always wins.
37:44I don't care what you say to me.
37:46I am removing the emotion from it.
37:49Fast forward five years.
37:51I think Helen's dress will still look fantastic.
37:55We might not feel the same about Sanji.
37:58No.
37:59In five years, you might feel very differently about Sanji.
38:03No, I think you're wrong.
38:04I think it's the exact opposite.
38:05No!
38:06So we have our decision.
38:10Let's bring them back out.
38:13Designers, one of you is the winner this week.
38:16And we'll receive a $10,000 gift card from Zales.
38:20Not to mention a custom-made diamond pendant worth $15,000.
38:26And I'm sorry to say another designer will be eliminated and sent home tonight.
38:33Designers, one of you is the winner this week.
38:39And I'm sorry to say another designer will be eliminated and sent home tonight.
38:45Dimitri, you're safe this week.
38:48Good luck.
38:49Helen and Sanji, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
38:55And we'll receive the prize from Zales worth $25,000.
39:01And that designer is...
39:05Helen.
39:07Congratulations.
39:09And congratulations to you too, Sanji.
39:11We'll see you both next week.
39:12You can leave the runway.
39:13Thank you, guys.
39:15Bye, Nina.
39:16Winning this is incredible.
39:17I've been working really hard and I take every bit of the judge's criticism to heart.
39:32Benjamin, you had a low score, but you are safe.
39:42Thanks.
39:47And that leaves Kate and Gunnar.
39:50You guys are both talented designers, but as you know, only one of you can stay.
39:56This week, the eliminated designer is...
40:05Kate.
40:08Thank you for being here with us and we can't wait to see what comes next.
40:12Gunnar, you stay in the competition.
40:15You can leave.
40:16And I'm a huge fan of your blog, by the way.
40:18Oh, thank you.
40:19Thanks.
40:22Kate, thank you so much for joining us on All Stars.
40:25Thank you, guys.
40:26I really appreciate all of your feedback.
40:29And I will say, the third time getting eliminated, it hurts a little bit less.
40:33So that's good.
40:34And I've learned a lot.
40:36So thank you.
40:37Bye, guys.
40:38Bye, sweetheart.
40:39Bye, sweetheart.
40:40Being eliminated the third time around, it's kind of like being stabbed in the same place three times.
40:47You just stop feeling it.
40:49Hey, guys.
40:50I love her.
40:51Hey.
40:52I'm going home.
40:53Sorry.
40:54I definitely learned a big lesson today.
40:57I was a little overambitious in redesigning and couldn't finish my garment.
41:01So I guess I have to go clean up my workspace again and hope I don't slip on some tools.
41:07I know myself as a designer.
41:09I know exactly who I am.
41:10I shouldn't have second-guessed myself.
41:13Not on Project Runway All Stars.
41:20Next on Project Runway All Stars.
41:23Paddington Bear.
41:24We're sending you to Paddington Station in London.
41:29I love how excited Gunnar is to be in London.
41:33There's Big Ben.
41:35Yay!
41:36Your challenge is to design fashionable outerwear for winter.
41:40I saw it in the window.
41:42Can you just tell me if you're not going to use it?
41:44Hurry the up so that I don't have to compromise my design.
41:47I'm a little bit jet-lagged, I think.
41:50Jet-lagged.
41:51I'm not hearing that as an excuse.
41:52It will work out.
41:53But one day it's not going to work out.
41:55I don't love the front of the coat.
41:57It's something I've never seen before.
41:59Why so drab?
42:05Are you ready for the Ikea?
42:06I don't know.
42:07Oh my god, I think I'm going to go.
42:08So, I'm not going to work out.
42:09I do love the coat.
42:10I'm so sorry.
42:11I'm so sorry, I'm going to go.
42:12I'm so sorry.
42:13You а you need to go into the shirt and lauron.
42:15I look like that for winter.
42:16I'm going to work out a bit.
42:17I'm going to work out a bit.
42:18I look like that, I'm going to work out.
42:19I'm going to work out a bit.
42:20I'm going to work out the coat.
