00:00:00I'll see you next time.
00:00:30I'll see you next time.
00:00:59And it's City, of course, Aberdeen for the first away fixture of the new season.
00:01:04Brendan Rodgers, Callum McGregor, Kasper Schmeichel and the rest of the squad arrived here not long ago for this 12.30 local time kickoff.
00:01:13A winning start to the season, of course, on flag day at home to St Mirren.
00:01:17Thanks to that second half, Luke McCowan goal sets Celtic up for this first very tricky away tie of the season.
00:01:27Three points would put Celtic back on top of the league at these early stages, but the three points at this stage count just as much as three points later on in the season.
00:01:37So the sun is shining in the northeast of Scotland.
00:01:41The playing surface is in immaculate condition and we're looking forward to an entertaining 90 minutes of football and hopefully another three points for Celtic.
00:01:49Alongside me, former Celtic striker Simon Donnelly, who played at Pataudry a number of times in his career.
00:01:55Look at the setting, it looks like a beautiful afternoon.
00:01:58Brilliant, yeah, somewhere that I'd really like to play as well, Gerry, over the years, going up to Pataudry.
00:02:03Not the easiest place to go at times, but Celtic have had a really strong record there in recent times and hopefully we can continue that this afternoon.
00:02:11Absolutely.
00:02:12Well, the manager has made one change to that side which beats St Mirren at home on the first day of the season.
00:02:19And it's a change in the wide areas.
00:02:20James Forrest comes in for Yang.
00:02:23So when you look at that starting 11, it is Kasper Schmeichel in goal.
00:02:26The back four of Alistair Johnson, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales and Kieran Tierney.
00:02:31Captain Callum McGregor, Rio Hattati and Benjamin Negrin getting the nod in the midfield three.
00:02:36Forrest and Maeda on the wings and Ida through the middle up front.
00:02:41On the bench for Celtic Sinisalo, substitute goalkeeper.
00:02:45And you've got the likes of trusty Yang McCown, Shin Yamada, Johnny Kenny, who signed a new extended deal this week.
00:02:52Arne Engels, Paolo Bernardo and Anthony Ralston.
00:02:55What do you think his thinking is behind bringing in Forrest for Yang?
00:03:00I'm pretty sure we'll see Yang at some point in the game.
00:03:02Well, I'm not going to criticise Yang, but I really think James Forrest when he came on last week looked as if he was our most dangerous player.
00:03:08He came on at a time in the game when we needed some penetration, we needed some energy going forward.
00:03:14And I think he brought it to the team, I think he was involved in the lead-up to certainly the goal that was cancelled out.
00:03:20But I thought he was, him and Luke McCown, both positive impacts on the bench last week.
00:03:25And that's merited a starting place today.
00:03:27Let's hear from the manager then, Brendan Rodgers, a short time ago trackside at Pataudry.
00:03:32He spoke to our reporter, Matthew Campbell.
00:03:35Brendan, we're here at Pataudry for the first away match of the season.
00:03:38What are you looking for from the team today?
00:03:41We arrive into every game to accomplish a really good performance and of course we want to win.
00:03:47So you look at the day, it's a beautiful day, the pitch is fantastic.
00:03:52So we want to go and put in a performance and really look to attack the game like we did the last time we were here.
00:03:58Yeah, absolutely.
00:03:59You mentioned the last time we were here, it was a resounding result.
00:04:02Then of course the last time that we met, Aberdeen, it was of course the cup final and the disappointment of that day.
00:04:07Does that play a part at all in terms of the motivation, adding a little bit extra to the players going into this?
00:04:12No, I think every game we come to win.
00:04:15That moment obviously was disappointment of course at the end of the season and Aberdeen get the win so that probably made their season.
00:04:24But for us, every season at Celtic you're there to win and the mark of the top players and the good managers is recovering from defeats and moving on.
00:04:35So yeah, we've had a good pre-season, we had a good start last week and we aim to continue with that today.
00:04:41Yeah, absolutely.
00:04:42Finally, Brendan, I just want to ask you, of course we see James Forrest in the team from the start today.
00:04:47He's 17th season at Celtic, it's extraordinary longevity but is he almost a unique player?
00:04:53Because not only is there the longevity but there's also the quality still there to contribute to the success of the team.
00:04:58Yeah, his quality is so good. I've always said it, he's a top class winger but I think you see him playing at the level that he's at because of his professionalism as well as the quality.
00:05:11Because there's many players of quality but to sustain the mentality and the discipline over so many years and that allows him to be, especially as a winger, to be still as quick and as dynamic as he is.
00:05:21So yeah, we put him in the team, he came in and made a great impact for us last week and now we can bring him into the game today and start where he was outstanding here the last time he played.
00:05:35Yeah, absolutely. Well, best of all today.
00:05:36Pleasure, thank you.
00:05:37Brendan Rodgers echoing the words of Simon Donnelly about the impact that James made when he came on against St Mirren last week, he gets a starting place this afternoon, kick-off is just under 10 minutes away, if you're listening to our broadcast inside the UK and Ireland and you're eligible to take part in the virtual paradise windfall draw, right up until about 20 minutes into the first half, the competition will be still open, get yourself the Celtic pools app,
00:06:05and if you download that, that is where you can buy your ticket for £2, the jackpot is up to £4,000 for away games, so an extra wee incentive there if you want to take part in the virtual paradise windfall, that's for those listeners inside the UK and Ireland.
00:06:22Alright, let's remind ourselves on that flag day opener and that Luke McCown winner for Celtic last weekend against St Mirren.
00:06:35Now Maeda, a chance to run it, Richardson, oh, it's a nice ball back, it's a chance for Negrin, oh, and the save off the crossbar from George, the header back in from Negrin.
00:06:53And it's another save from the St Mirren goalkeeper, that is the chance of the first half, right at the death for Celtic.
00:07:00Oh, absolutely, and we're saying get it in the box, he's going to have the last chance and shoot his fate,
00:07:04I don't know how he's saved it, if it's Gogage, it's touched, it's come back to the keeper and he's flapped on at the bar.
00:07:09Oh, I think he's just saved it.
00:07:11Yeah, it's come up off him and hit the bar.
00:07:13Yeah, it's a great save.
00:07:13Good play from McGregor, Hattate coming forward.
00:07:23Ooh, gets the drive there, oh, the deflection!
00:07:26Almost caught out, Jamal George, it then came back off the post, hit the goalkeeper's foot, he thought it was going to end up in the back of the net.
00:07:38Forrest still, Forrest, still Forrest going.
00:07:41He'll have to check back.
00:07:45Ooh, ball breaks, edge of the area, can McGregor win it back?
00:07:48He can, can he get the goal?
00:07:50He can, what a goal!
00:07:52From the captain, leading from the front.
00:07:55A chance out of nothing, and Callum McGregor on 67 minutes gives Celtic a flag day lead.
00:08:03That's the perfect time to score, as you say, 67, fantastic number.
00:08:11Callum McGregor, I think, being accused of the ball coming off his arm, the VAR is looking at it, he's saying it came off his shoulder.
00:08:28He's cancelled the goal.
00:08:38Let's have a look at this again.
00:08:39I mean, the ball's pinged off his elbow there, but he's looking the other way, that is what has resulted in this goal being cancelled.
00:08:49St Mirren packing that defence, angles to Dyson, Maeda, edge of the area.
00:09:02Chance, and the ball breaks and it deflects into the back of the net.
00:09:06Celtic will have the lead this time, and it's his substitute, Luke McCown, who fires it past Jamal George.
00:09:13And the scoreline says, Celtic 1, St Mirren 0.
00:09:18Ah, we'll take it, there's no doubt of that.
00:09:20And to be fair to them, since the goal was chalked off, I thought we've raised it a little bit,
00:09:24but we've got in good areas, we've been sharper.
00:09:26James Forrest, as you rightfully say, has been very progressive in taking people on and getting balls in the box.
00:09:32You think they've lost a chance here, but you know Luke McCown's more than capable.
00:09:35You get a slight deflection, but we'll take that all day long.
00:09:38Luke McCown then coming up with the winner last weekend.
00:09:50We'll probably see Luke McCown at some point in the second half,
00:09:56you would expect, barring any injuries in the first 45 minutes.
00:09:59Celtic have a strong squad, Simon, and with the likes of McCown and Yang on the bench,
00:10:04Johnny Kenny, who signed a new deal, scored the last time we played it to Taudry.
00:10:07There's always that threat that Celtic possess, and with the five-substitute rule,
00:10:11it's almost like the manager can really freshen up that outfield for the last half an hour.
00:10:16Yeah, and he used it to good use last week with James Forrest and Luke McCown coming off the bench to positive effect.
00:10:23Luke McCown has been a fantastic player since he came to the club's really important goal last week.
00:10:28He's popped up with gold last season, and he's a player that the manager will enjoy working with.
00:10:32You know, he's somebody there that can come on and change a game.
00:10:34I'm sure from a personal point of view, he'll be able to try and wrestle that jersey and get into the starting level.
00:10:40But his impact last week was first class.
00:10:42A reminder there that Aberdeen will be no pushovers.
00:10:44They are, of course, the holder of the Scottish Cup, thanks to their penalty win against Celtic.
00:10:50But Pataudry last season was a happy hunting ground for the boys in green and white, particularly that last league game of the season up at Pataudry in May when Celtic came and blew the Dons away with that 5-1 win.
00:11:04Johnny Kenny and Yang both getting on the score sheet that day.
00:11:09So these supporters will be hoping for a similar type performance to that one.
00:11:14All the talk, or a lot of the talk, Simon, before this game has naturally been about the last time the sides met and the fact that Aberdeen got the better of Celtic.
00:11:24And I don't think there's anyone, even the manager of Celtic himself, Brendan Rodgers, saying that Celtic weren't at their best that day.
00:11:30No one doubts that Aberdeen potentially deserved to win that cup, he said grudgingly.
00:11:37However, how much of that will be on the players' minds?
00:11:40Certainly not the new players, because they weren't even here, they couldn't care less.
00:11:43But is there a little bit that Celtic players will feel they've got a point to prove?
00:11:48Well, I was interested to listen to the manager's comments here, because I agree with him.
00:11:52It's a new season.
00:11:54You're expected to go out and win every game at Celtic.
00:11:56Whether the players that were involved use it as a little personal motivation, I don't think personally I would have.
00:12:02You're expected to go out and win the game anyway.
00:12:05You know it's going to be a difficult game, but the final's gone.
00:12:07It was a frustrating day for everybody concerned with the club.
00:12:10But we're into the new season now.
00:12:11We've got the three points last week, and it's important to go and build on that today.
00:12:16Jimmy Teelan at Aberdeen, of course, had such a fantastic start to his tenure as Aberdeen boss last year.
00:12:21It went a bit alright through the middle of the season.
00:12:24He's made some changes to his squad.
00:12:27He's lost a few players.
00:12:28He's brought in a few of the likes of Milanovic, Alshish and Yenge up front.
00:12:33The changes didn't go to plan in their first league game of the season against Hearts at Tynecastle on Monday night.
00:12:41Hearts are pretty strong and looking good this season, but a 2-0 win for the Edinburgh side means that Aberdeen go into this game really wanting to get something from it.
00:12:51They'll feel buoyed by that Scottish Cup final win.
00:12:54No doubt they feel that they will be able to come into this game and go for the three points.
00:12:59The managers made two changes to that side that lost to Hearts.
00:13:02Out go Knoster and Leighton Clarkson in the middle of the park.
00:13:05In come Alfie Dorrington and Nicky Devlin, which suggests to me that it's the physical, it's the strength, it's the way they can impose themselves on the game.
00:13:14He's looking for that kind of physical pressure that perhaps was a bit too much for Celtic to deal with at Hamden.
00:13:22Yeah, possibly.
00:13:23I'm trying to frustrate Celtic, but you're at home as well, so you want to try and get on the front foot, be aggressive, as you said there, and make it difficult.
00:13:32Mostly, most days, it's about what Celtic do.
00:13:35And, you know, we've been so consistent in recent times, but we have to go out and do it again and again and again, and the boys have to start the game properly here today.
00:13:45If we hope to get anything out of the game, we hope for another few points and down the road.
00:13:49August is a huge month this season for Celtic.
00:13:52Of course, we've still got a playoff for the Champions League to get past, and we don't know yet whether it will be Slovan Bratislava or Almaty.
00:14:01Almaty of Kazakhstan, 1-0 up from that first leg.
00:14:06The second leg is played on Tuesday, so early this week Celtic will find out who their opposition is for that Champions League playoff.
00:14:15There's an away trip to Aberdeen, there's an away trip to Rangers, there's a cup game against Falkirk still to come.
00:14:20It's a big month for Celtic.
00:14:22It is, plenty of games, plenty of important games as well at the start of this season.
00:14:26And last week wasn't easy as well, you know, a really physical St Mern team who worked their socks off to make it really difficult for us.
00:14:35We hit the woodwork, it could have been a different score on a different day, but we got the three points, and I think today will be a tough one as well, Gerry, I really do.
00:14:42That man there was Celtic's top marksman last season.
00:14:46He felled on the wing today with Andy Medha playing through the middle, but...
00:14:50Everyone knows the threat that Dyson Maeda poses down that left-hand side.
00:14:54And we could also see last week, Simon, the difference that Kieran Tierney will bring down that left-hand side.
00:15:00His powerful runs, his link-up play, but also his ambition and his motivation to go round the outside, which is something perhaps we didn't see a lot of with Greg Taylor.
00:15:09Yeah, Greg Taylor and him are different players.
00:15:13Greg like to come in the park, probably instruction, you know, coming in and playing in that inverted role.
00:15:18Kieran is very athletic, we've seen pre-season, great delivery with that left foot of his.
00:15:23He brings experience, he knows what winning at Celtic is all about, and I think he's going to be a really important, if not the most important signing of the season.
00:15:31Yeah, linking up well down that left-hand side with Maeda, but also with the likes of Negan and Hatati, a real good understanding developing between Kieran and the players.
00:15:42But Callum is the captain, there's a lot of leaders in that huddle, but Callum is the one that's giving the final instructions.
00:15:50Aberdeen are the team to beat this afternoon.
00:15:56They started last weekend top of the league, they finished last weekend bottom of the league.
00:16:01Let's see what another 90 minutes of football can bring.
00:16:06John Beaton's the man in the middle, he blows the whistle and gets the game underway, Celtic shooting from left to right, both teams in their familiar strips.
00:16:16And I must say, I do like the Aberdeen strip this season with the collar, I think it looks very smart.
00:16:22Yeah, it is smart, it is smart, they did this.
00:16:28So...
00:16:29It looks like that's the last time you compliment...
00:16:32Well, I was going to say, that's the Aberdeen compliments out the way.
00:16:34Let's get on with the natural, normal Celtic TV commentary now.
00:16:39There's Tierney down that left-hand side, linking with Hatati, who's fumbled to the ground by Graham Shinny, no free kick given.
00:16:46Aberdeen give it straight back to Celtic, Tierney in the early seconds of the game, heavily involved down that left-hand side.
00:16:53There's the commitment there of Dyson, right, Hader.
00:16:56He just couldn't stop himself there, barging into the back of Milanovic, so an early, what is it the manager says in the first couple of minutes, show them you're there.
00:17:07Well, Dyson certainly does that every week, and it's not just in the first minute, it's usually to the 90th.
00:17:13Playing surface, as the manager said, looks absolutely immaculate out there, will be conducive to, hopefully, a good game of football.
00:17:24Ball's out on this near side, throw is given Celtic's way, much to the dismay of the Aberdeen players who felt that the award should have been theirs.
00:17:34McGregor for Celtic, out to his good friend Kieran Tierney, back to Scales, it was one of Celtic's best performers in that opening game of the season,
00:17:52both defensively and in attack, late challenge, coming in there from Devlin, punished by the referee, so three-kick to Celtic,
00:18:01both teams just kind of sussing each other out in these opening exchanges.
00:18:04Yeah, he mentioned it there about bringing Devlin in for the best of this, but he's caught James Earl, late one, simple enough foul.
00:18:10Forrest, of course, vastly experienced as that, seen it and done it all in his now 17 seasons at the club.
00:18:21Early touch for Mitoff, he was the hero at Hampden, saving penalties from Callum McGregor and Alistair Johnson.
00:18:30But memories of that game, furthest from everyone's mind here, it's all about the here and now.
00:18:42For Aberdeen, putting a marker down and showing perhaps that that rather meek defeat to Hearts was not a true reflection of who they are,
00:18:50and for Celtic it's about continuing the winning run and getting that momentum and keeping that winning momentum,
00:18:59means so much in football, Negrin there. Plays it off, the Aberdeen player and out for a throw.
00:19:09What have you made of Negrin?
00:19:12We covered the Sporting Lisbon game and I thought he stuck out last week, maybe not as much,
00:19:18but I think he's an experienced player that's going to come into the midfield, he's seen his defensive duties there,
00:19:24but I liked the areas he was picking up against Sporting Lisbon, his use of the ball,
00:19:27so I'm looking forward to him developing here at Celtic.
00:19:31Nope, Aberdeen lose it on the edge of the area, Kieran Tierney,
00:19:35for the driven pass across to where James Forrest was,
00:19:40thinks it took a knick off an Aberdeen player, but it's out for the Aberdeen throw.
00:19:44Yeah, they're just coming back to Negrin, they had a great chance in that game, we were watching the highlights there,
00:19:51it was a fantastic save, just feel that maybe that goal just to get him his Celtic career kick-started,
00:19:59hopefully it comes this afternoon.
00:20:01Throw to Aberdeen deep in their own half, down by the corner flag,
00:20:07throw by Devlin, headed straight back out by Celtic's Canadian, right back Alistair Johnson.
00:20:19Throw again to Aberdeen, Celtic will look to keep Aberdeen down that end of the pitch.
00:20:25Counter Vickers, though, I think he's just rolled that one out of play,
00:20:31but no doubting Aberdeen have advanced up the pitch now, another throw quickly taken by Devlin.
00:20:37Back to Milne.
00:20:39Meet-off.
00:20:41Dorrington, of course.
00:20:46Celtic are leading that cup final with an on-goal.
00:20:50Well, Aberdeen feel that the break was on there down the right-hand side, Milanovic having a go at the far-side assistant,
00:20:59but Ciarán Tierney's on the deck, free kick given to Celtic.
00:21:02Yeah, just barges into the back of Ciarán Tierney there.
00:21:07He's trying to actually shield the ball, possibly for Liam Scales to take.
00:21:11Looks like a foul.
00:21:12Quite similar to the Dyson Maeda one from two or three minutes ago.
00:21:20Yeah, you can see Aberdeen trying to use their physicality,
00:21:23they feel that's one area where they can maybe dominate Celtic.
00:21:26Alistair Johnson, the victim that time, Keskinen with the late challenge.
00:21:32Shoulder charge.
00:21:33You can see Aberdeen are up for it, obviously, there.
00:21:36Another nudge in the back of Alistair Johnson.
00:21:39Just encourage the Celtic players to move at that a little bit quicker.
00:21:42My only surprise is that of all these fouls in the opening five minutes,
00:21:45Aberdeen number six, Nielsen hasn't committed any of them,
00:21:48but there's plenty of time left in this game.
00:21:50Aberdeen coming forward, and they have bodies forward.
00:21:53It's a nice ball played forward.
00:21:55Milanovic forgot to take the ball with him,
00:21:57so it gives Celtic defenders time to come back and get into shape.
00:22:00But Milanovic still inside the box on the right-hand side.
00:22:03Cross is deflected into the path of Devlin.
00:22:07In comes the ball from Nielsen.
00:22:09Oh, it's a dangerous one.
00:22:10Scales half-dealt with it, back across into the body of Scales again,
00:22:14and out for an Aberdeen throw on that far side.
00:22:16Yeah, under a bit of pressure here.
00:22:18I don't know if it's a double block from Cairn Tierney,
00:22:21or Scales got the last block there,
00:22:23but a bit of pressure from Aberdeen.
00:22:27Cross in this time from Dorrington, but no-one there in a red jersey.
00:22:31Kasper Schmeichel happy to see that one go behind for a goal kick.
00:22:35So Jimmy Thielen will be relatively happy with the way his Aberdeen side has started this game.
00:22:48Celtic playing the ball around inside their own box with some confidence there.
00:22:52Yeah, they've been doing it pre-season as well and getting out at times.
00:22:56Tierney.
00:22:58It's about to care inside your own box.
00:23:03Scales to Cameron and Carter Vickers.
00:23:06Through the middle to Adam Ida.
00:23:08Dispossessed Aberdeen.
00:23:10Win it back.
00:23:14He's got a skill there from Keskinnen.
00:23:22Tierney wins it back.
00:23:23Atate.
00:23:24McGregor inside to Negrin.
00:23:27It's a handball, surely.
00:23:28Referee standing, watching it.
00:23:30Aberdeen getting advantage from the handball and play goes on.
00:23:34And Don's coming forward.
00:23:36Jenge.
00:23:37Oh, that's a wonderful save.
00:23:39Kasper Schmeichel at full stretch there as Jenge tried to curl one.
00:23:44Into the top corner from about 25 yards.
00:23:48Or more.
00:23:49Yeah, had to be alert.
00:23:50Schmeichel there.
00:23:51I did think it was a handball in the lead-up.
00:23:54You see here again, it clearly comes off.
00:23:57Yeah, not quite sure what that is.
00:24:00If it's not a handball, the harm was completely out in front of him,
00:24:03but Aberdeen have a corner.
00:24:07Eight minutes gone here at Pataudry.
00:24:09Aberdeen putting the pressure on the Celtic defence,
00:24:11and it comes from Milanovic into the heart of the area.
00:24:14No takers, and the referee had spotted an infringement.
00:24:17I think it was Keskenen on the goalkeeper inside the box,
00:24:20so the chance comes to nothing.
00:24:23As we look at that curling effort from Jenge.
00:24:26Yeah, it's a great strike.
00:24:28Yeah, I think it was going in.
00:24:29Yeah, just inside that post.
00:24:31Schmeichel with a great save.
00:24:34Aberdeen in these early stages show they're up for the fight as well,
00:24:38so we'll need to match that.
00:24:40I'm getting the two new Aberdeen signings mixed up.
00:24:43That was, of course, Oshish with the shot.
00:24:52Celtic coming forward, McGregor.
00:24:55Space here for James Forrest, he's been supported by Johnson.
00:24:59Will he find his Canadian teammate?
00:25:01He does.
00:25:02Alistair Johnson now goes for the little dink cross.
00:25:04Oh, the goalkeeper came out.
00:25:06He was rather fortunate that the ball landed.
00:25:09In his palms, it took two goes to get control of the ball.
00:25:20Is that a foul on scales?
00:25:22In Jenge it was.
00:25:24A bit too much attention to Celtic's centre-half.
00:25:32Celtic, of course, have signed another centre-half for the season.
00:25:36My Simpson Pusey.
00:25:37He's not quite ready in terms of match fitness to be in the Celtic squad,
00:25:41but he is here today.
00:25:44Good positioning there from Alistair Johnson.
00:25:46Low cross into the box.
00:25:49Away behind for a corner by Dorrington.
00:25:51So a chance for Celtic to get a decent ball into the penalty area
00:25:57as Negrin comes across to take this corner.
00:26:00There was a nice pass for James Forrest into Alistair Johnson.
00:26:03Threading it through the defence of Aberdeen.
00:26:05Ten minutes gone, Celtic with a corner, referee John Beaton.
00:26:15Going into the six-yard box to have a work there.
00:26:18Kieran Tierney and Milanovic just jostling for space.
00:26:23I wonder if this will end up being a free kick against Kieran Tierney.
00:26:27They've seen it so often.
00:26:30And the referee has a word that Negrin gets ready with the in-swinger.
00:26:37And it comes.
00:26:38Goalkeeper comes out and takes with confidence.
00:26:41Releases Halshish quickly into space hoping that Keskenen can get there,
00:26:47but it was well-read by Kasper Schmeichel,
00:26:51who was a good 30 yards out of his goal.
00:26:54Yeah, read it well, the goalkeeper.
00:26:56Had to be on his toes, Aberdeen looking with the sharp counter-attack from the corner.
00:27:04So one chance at goal in the opening ten, eleven minutes.
00:27:07And it was from Alistair.
00:27:08Long-range effort.
00:27:10Saved by Kasper Schmeichel.
00:27:12trying to create some space down the left-hand side,
00:27:16but ran out of space.
00:27:21And it's gone behind for a goal kick to Aberdeen.
00:27:26This was that quick release there from Mitov.
00:27:29You can see what Halshish is thinking,
00:27:30he's thinking if I just put it into space,
00:27:32perhaps Keskenen's got the run of the defence,
00:27:34but the goalkeeper was well-positioned.
00:27:42But then trying to play it out of defence,
00:27:46the goal comes off,
00:27:48Dines in Maeda.
00:28:01Throw taken, header one by Scales.
00:28:03Maeda in there too, it's out, throw given to Celtic.
00:28:07Midway inside the Aberdeen half.
00:28:10On the left-hand side, Tierney with the ball in hand.
00:28:16Throws it back to Scales.
00:28:18Inside him in the centre circle is Cameron Carter.
00:28:21Vickers immediately put under pressure,
00:28:23but does well, gets the ball to Alistair Johnson.
00:28:25Now James Forrest where he likes to collect the ball,
00:28:27wide on the right-hand side,
00:28:29driving down to that byline,
00:28:31cross came in.
00:28:32Came up off, Devlin didn't go behind,
00:28:35spinning the ball made it difficult for the Aberdeen defence,
00:28:38but they've managed to get it clear up towards the halfway line.
00:28:41For this player back for Celtic is Cameron Carter-Vickers.
00:28:44Yeah, it was good positive play from Forrest there,
00:28:47and a tricky one to deal with,
00:28:49as you say, spinning high into the box.
00:28:51Atati caught under pressure there.
00:28:55Yenge trying to release Oshis,
00:28:57the ball's broken.
00:28:58Aberdeen's way.
00:29:00But the pass forward is intercepted by Alistair Johnson,
00:29:06Hatate finds Negrin.
00:29:08It's a very open and even 13 minutes.
00:29:12Neither two team really dominating the other.
00:29:17Hatate out to Maeda.
00:29:20Now Tierney.
00:29:22Scales inside again to Cameron and Carter-Vickers.
00:29:30Negrin turns,
00:29:32Keskenen goes with on,
00:29:33but James Forrest runs past Keskenen.
00:29:36Again, Aberdeen pressing in numbers,
00:29:41but Celtic, Negrin in particular,
00:29:44does well to win that back,
00:29:47but it results in an Aberdeen throw.
00:29:49Yeah, James Forrest has started the game quite lively.
00:29:53That one just kind of closed up for him
00:29:55as he's working his way in the titch,
00:29:57all the space kind of closed up.
00:29:59It was blocked out in the end,
00:30:00but Sharp took it away from his marker initially there.
00:30:03Aberdeen with another throw.
00:30:20Inside the Celtic half Devlin.
00:30:23Back to Milne.
00:30:27Long cross field ball for Milanovic,
00:30:31who wasn't able to keep that in.
00:30:40Milanovic, an Australian winger,
00:30:43signed from Western Sydney Warriors.
00:30:46For what was for them a record feat.
00:30:55Long throw forward by Tierney,
00:30:57but Aberdeen have it.
00:30:59Experienced captain, Shinny.
00:31:01Celtic have enough men to intercept the pass.
00:31:04Back to Schmeichel.
00:31:08Now scales.
00:31:0915 minutes of the game gone.
00:31:14Nice placed pass there from Tierney.
00:31:16Uriah, ironic cheers from the home crowd.
00:31:19Apologies from the Scotland left-back.
00:31:24Balls back with Mitoff just outside his box.
00:31:28Launches one up and over the halfway line.
00:31:30Looking for Jengebert.
00:31:32Cameron Carter-Vickers is there.
00:31:34Negrin back to Johnson.
00:31:36Now scales.
00:31:38Manager will be looking for the tempo of the passing to perhaps rise a bit for Celtic.
00:31:46But Aberdeen are working hard to take up good positions when they've not got the ball.
00:31:53Celtic finding it hard to break down a resolute donge defence.
00:32:00Yeah, they're working hard and I've used the word aggressive at the start of this game.
00:32:06In the first 15 minutes they have, it's within the rules of the game, of course.
00:32:09Playing at home, but just encourage us to move it a little bit quicker.
00:32:13Just be a wee bit sharper on the ball.
00:32:17Pass out to Tierney there, just breaks down.
00:32:19High one forward, Jenge and scales their arms all over each other.
00:32:22So the referee just lets that one go.
00:32:24Let the best man win.
00:32:25Two late challenges there on Celtic captain Callum McGregor.
00:32:30I'm assuming that's resulted in a free kick to Celtic.
00:32:34Yeah, it's got to be.
00:32:35It's a good play from the skipper, quick feet, nimble, moving the ball.
00:32:40Gets fouled in the end.
00:32:42Yeah, I don't mind that from the referee.
00:32:44Two players, it's one of those ones, 50-50.
00:32:46Yeah, the ball's bouncing there for the challenge.
00:32:48As I say, then it breaks and the football comes from McGregor there with the quick feet
00:32:53and we win the free kick.
00:32:54Now Negrin, as you can see he's always looking to run with the ball.
00:32:59Run at the defence.
00:33:04Scales now.
00:33:09Trying to play it into Maeda, perhaps the easier ball was Tierney on the left,
00:33:12so the move breaks down, but Dyson Maeda does enough to win the ball back for Celtic.
00:33:18Adam Eder, there's a cross there as well, and his cross perhaps needed an Adam Eder in the box as well.
00:33:25Ooh, that looked like a fair challenge from Cameron Carter-Vickers, he certainly feels it was.
00:33:31But the referee has blown for a free kick to Aberdeen inside their own half.
00:33:35It's a clever little flick round the corner, but I'm with you, Gerry, I think he possibly gets the ball there.
00:33:40As we just see the one with Callum McGregor again here a couple of minutes beforehand.
00:33:44Yeah, and that's a sore one as well.
00:33:46Two fouls.
00:33:47Studs on the top of the foot.
00:33:49Another long ball up the wing from Aberdeen, comes to nothing.
00:34:07Scales.
00:34:08The home crowd have certainly quieted down after their...
00:34:15Exuberant opening, 10-15 minutes of course inside Poutoudry, giving their team support.
00:34:22Now they're perhaps hoping the team can rouse them, but Celtic had the ball, Forrest on the right.
00:34:28Cuts inside, so many red jerseys, but he finds a pass to Hitati,
00:34:31tried to play it through a rock of Aberdeen players to Maeda,
00:34:34but it's cleared up to Cameron Carter-Vickers on the halfway line.
00:34:38Hitati finds scales.
00:34:43This time he does give it out wide to Tierney.
00:34:47Inside him is Maeda, back to scales.
00:34:51Midway inside the Aberdeen half, short pass to McGregor.
00:34:54Through the middle is Real Hitati, it's a tight angle,
00:34:57so the chip crossed to the back post, but James Forrest had already come inside.
00:35:01It's Alistair Johnson that picks it up on the right, back to goal, does well though.
00:35:05Comes back to Carter-Vickers, this is good possession play from Celtic.
00:35:09Oh, and the pass there from scales.
00:35:13Wasn't good at all, gives possession back to Aberdeen who are now up to the halfway line,
00:35:17but enough Celtic players back to get their team-mate out of a hole.
00:35:23There's a good little bit of pressure from Celtic, sustained possession round about the box
00:35:27to the careless pass and scales there.
00:35:29This little chip from Hitati, unfortunately there was nobody at that back post.
00:35:33Negrin to Forrest, dispossessed by Keskinen, now Nielsen.
00:35:41Forward to Jenge, first touch allowed.
00:35:44Celtic to win it back, McGregor did well initially.
00:35:54Alistair Johnson now on the halfway line, on the right is Forrest.
00:35:58Aberdeen with every man behind the ball, inside their own half.
00:36:10McGregor forward to Ida, back to McGregor, trying to draw the Aberdeen players out of position.
00:36:16Forrest on the right, really use Alistair Johnson as a decoy, still Forrest, there's two Aberdeen players with him.
00:36:24And a combination of Keskinen and Devlin results in a Celtic corner.
00:36:30Yeah, again positive from Forrest there, crowded out in the end.
00:36:34Alistair Johnson went in the overlap, he chose not to use him and move in the corner.
00:36:42Negrin again with the in-swinger.
00:36:4420 minutes gone, Aberdeen 0, Celtic 0 at Pataudry.
00:36:48And it comes from Negrin, to the near post this time.
00:36:52And Aberdeen cleared it away, but only as far as Rio Hattati.
00:36:56Across, too much on that one from Hattati, and it goes all the way behind for a goal kick to Aberdeen.
00:37:02It was a dangerous one to the near post this time, at the medium and they're just looking for the glancing touch.
00:37:12Yeah, decent ball in from Negrin, just needed the glancing header at the unoccupied near post.
00:37:20Goal kick launched up to the halfway line, onto the head of Tierney, back to the Aberdeen defence.
00:37:30Celtic now press the Aberdeen defenders.
00:37:33Clear inside by Jensen, Aberdeen work it up to the Celtic half.
00:37:40Oshish plays that one straight into Cameron and Carter Vickers, but Jensen gets the break of the ball.
00:37:50And it's Milanovic, Shinny, and lots of room here in the middle of the pitch.
00:37:55Aberdeen still have it, Jensen, lots of Celtic bodies in there, though a relatively poor cross there from Jensen.
00:38:02Celtic have it, Hattati in a left back position, launches one up.
00:38:06Adamida was the target, but Aberdeen defence deal with that one.
00:38:12And it's Nielsen with the ball.
00:38:17To Oshish.
00:38:22Long ball from Shinny, looking for Keskinen onto the head of Alistair Johnson.
00:38:27Forrest to Carter Vickers.
00:38:29And now Scales, both teams working hard to create the space, create the chances,
00:38:34but the chances have been relatively few and far between in the opening half of this first half.
00:38:44Forrest now.
00:38:47Supported by Johnson.
00:38:49Negrin stays onside, cross with her right foot this time to the edge of the area.
00:38:53Adam Ida, good first touch, but mishits the volley on the tongue.
00:38:57And Aberdeen now looking to counter-attack.
00:39:02Oshish, down the left-hand side, evades the Celtic challenge.
00:39:10Finds Keskinen.
00:39:11He's well-marshalled there by Cameron Carter Vickers, he's got an important touch.
00:39:15Forrest does well.
00:39:17And Celtic being pushed back and kept back.
00:39:21Yeah, it's quite an even battle, up until now.
00:39:24Not a lot between the sides, not a lot of chances, as you said there, Gerrit.
00:39:29It's...
00:39:30Yeah, it's a battle of wits out there.
00:39:32Yeah, it's a good combative test between the two of them so far.
00:39:38Neither side really showing that.
00:39:41A little turn of magic from someone, a little sparkle, a little something that can just...
00:39:46break through the other's defence and bring this game to life.
00:39:55Carter Vickers just inside the Aberdeen half, through the middle.
00:39:58Ida lays it back to McGregor, it's his good play from Celtic.
00:40:01Forrest now on the right.
00:40:05Hatate trying to play the return pass.
00:40:09Forrest feels he was obstructed there.
00:40:12Devlin hoping to let that one go, but there was not enough momentum in the ball.
00:40:17So, Negrin is over there.
00:40:19Ah, referee.
00:40:20The assistant referee.
00:40:21Flag up as soon as the hands went on the back of Devlin there from Negrin.
00:40:25Yeah.
00:40:26He wanted the goal kick, then he wanted the free kick.
00:40:29Yeah.
00:40:30Very soft.
00:40:33If anything, he slipped.
00:40:37Not sure about that one.
00:40:39So, free kick to Aberdeen in the left-back position.
00:40:44Goalkeeper Mitov leaves his goal completely empty to come across and...
00:40:51launch this one up the pitch.
00:40:56By those only Celtic fans.
00:40:58Mitov launches one high and far into the Celtic final thug.
00:41:04Surely that is a free kick, yes.
00:41:07Late barge there from Keskinen on Alistair Johnson.
00:41:17Sometimes to win a game you've got to win the battle first,
00:41:19and Aberdeen are making sure that Celtic know that they are in a battle this afternoon.
00:41:24Yeah, definitely.
00:41:25And you don't expect anything other than that going to places like Putaudry.
00:41:29As I say, the home team have to come out and show some sort of aggression going forward.
00:41:33You have to match that, and then, as you say, that little bit of magic from your quality players.
00:41:39Scales to Carter Vickers.
00:41:43Aberdeen happy for Celtic to play the ball inside their own half,
00:41:48but Celtic being outnumbered at the moment.
00:41:51Look at the number of red jerseys in there.
00:41:53Negrin takes the pass from Alistair Johnson, but he's forced away from goal.
00:41:57Keeps possession, though, back to McGregor.
00:42:00Scales out to Tierney.
00:42:03Aberdeen trying to keep Celtic 18 yards or so from the goal, but they can't!
00:42:09And they haven't, and it's a first Celtic goal for Benjamin Negrin,
00:42:14supplied expertly on the left-hand side by Kieran Tierney.
00:42:18And Celtic's hard work has paid dividends in the 27th minute.
00:42:23Benjamin Negrin with the opening goal of the game.
00:42:26It's Aberdeen 0, Celtic 1.
00:42:28It's a really good goal.
00:42:29They keep possession, they work it from side to side.
00:42:32They get Kieran Tierney, squared up, 1v1.
00:42:35We've talked about it at the top of the show.
00:42:38Outside, gets the cross in, and unlike last week,
00:42:41he goes first time, and it's a great finish.
00:42:44The great play from Kieran Tierney, this is where we want him.
00:42:461v1, he's strong running, he's delivering in, cuts it back, 1-0.
00:42:51That is how important Kieran Tierney will be to this Celtic side.
00:42:54Someone that can take the outside run, take the runner on.
00:42:58He's getting pulled back there as well, but he's strong enough, athletic enough.
00:43:01Great finish on the half volley from Negrin, was stretching.
00:43:05Had an Aberdeen player with him as well, but kept his eye on the ball.
00:43:10Runs across to those Celtic away supporters, they're delighted that Negrin...
00:43:14Now it says, Celtic career off to a scoring start now.
00:43:18Part of the build-up play as well there, and then got himself into a good area.
00:43:22A dangerous area to go and capitalise.
00:43:24Well, we spoke about that little bit of magic, just someone from either Celtic or Aberdeen
00:43:29to just turn the game, and Kieran Tierney did that.
00:43:31Yeah, just getting 1v1, they've been patient there to get it to that side quickly.
00:43:37We've seen it pre-season, we've seen it time and time again before.
00:43:41Strong running and the quality of the cross.
00:43:48Defenders hate it when someone can take you on the outside,
00:43:51take the ball to the byline, those crosses are so difficult to defend.
00:44:01I just felt with last week's chance he could maybe have taken it first time as well,
00:44:04I know that one is a little bit off-balance, I think he has to take that one first time.
00:44:07He has to, yeah.
00:44:08But it's a great finish.
00:44:09But it's a similar area to where he picked up last week.
00:44:11Very similar to the chance he had against St Mirren at the end of that first half,
00:44:15so Negrin proving his worth.
00:44:17Improving.
00:44:19The manager's team selection correct, and the angles having to sit out.
00:44:24Now Celtic looking to capitalise on this dominance and perhaps catch Aberdeen
00:44:30in a bit of disarray.
00:44:33And perhaps get a second goal, that will be the plan.
00:44:37And now it's the Celtic supporters you can hear, and great voice.
00:44:45Forrest.
00:44:48Back to Cameron Carter-Vickers.
00:44:54Tierney, again, the little decoy inside,
00:44:57and then takes Jensen on the outside, this time the cross.
00:45:02Not quite up to Tierney standards.
00:45:05Oh, how was that kept in play?
00:45:07As Hatati goes for the shot, save, ball breaks back to Negrin.
00:45:10Oh, I wonder if that had been on his left foot,
00:45:12whether the ball would have hit the back of the net,
00:45:14but as it was, it was skied over the bar by the right foot of Negrin.
00:45:18Was that not kept in by Shinny's hand?
00:45:20Not sure, I can't see it.
00:45:22On the far side.
00:45:23It breaks to Negrin here, it's a good save out.
00:45:25For me that's a penalty.
00:45:26Oh, if it's...
00:45:28That ball will have a look at it,
00:45:30but it was good aggressive play for Maeda to keep it in.
00:45:32Now, play goes on.
00:45:35Perhaps I'm looking at the green-tinted spectacles,
00:45:38but it felt to me like Shinny fell on the ball and kept it in with both hands.
00:45:41Here's Ida in an advanced position, loses his strength against Shinny,
00:45:47keeps the ball, he's on the left-hand side up against Jensen,
00:45:50who got the final touch.
00:45:51I think the free kick is going to go to Aberdeen.
00:45:54Ida with the head and the hands, can't quite believe it.
00:46:00Quickly taken.
00:46:04Milanovic did well there, 1-2 with Shinny.
00:46:07Runs in to Kieran Tierney though, throw to Aberdeen.
00:46:10Almost on the halfway line.
00:46:18Ball back to Kmitov.
00:46:21Now Nielsen has been pretty quiet for Aberdeen.
00:46:27Here he is again,
00:46:28puts the ball onto the head of Negrin.
00:46:32Maeda found Hatati, his pass was blocked though,
00:46:35and now the ball breaks the way of Alshish.
00:46:37He's got Keskin in ahead of him, the ball breaks to Yenge.
00:46:40Carter Vickers does well though, on the deck for Celtic,
00:46:42wins the ball back.
00:46:43Well, Alshish certainly has, certainly,
00:46:46Alshish certainly Sean Connery here,
00:46:48has got some pace about him.
00:46:50Yeah, he's got a little bit of quality about him as well,
00:46:52but that was an important block from Carter Vickers.
00:46:54Forrest does well to find Alistair Johnson,
00:46:56little dink cross to the far post,
00:46:58kept in, is it?
00:46:59No.
00:47:00I thought Maeda managed to keep that one in,
00:47:02but it's gone behind for the goal kick.
00:47:03Yeah, Carter Vickers lost his balance,
00:47:04went to ground,
00:47:05but managed to just lie there in a position
00:47:07to thwart the attack from Aberdeen.
00:47:12Even when he's on his back,
00:47:13he's the best defender in Scotland.
00:47:14But that goal's lifted the support,
00:47:19as we can hear there,
00:47:20there's an extra spring in the step now,
00:47:22we can try and press on and get the second goal.
00:47:44Milne back to Mitoff.
00:47:52Forward by Dorrington,
00:47:54straight into the chest there of William Scales,
00:47:57now Carter Vickers.
00:47:59Alistair Johnson.
00:48:04McGregor through the middle,
00:48:05little spaces beginning to pop up in the Aberdeen ranks
00:48:09as they try and stretch the game,
00:48:11looking to get back into it.
00:48:13two fair challenges there,
00:48:15McGregor and Negrin both clearly winning the ball.
00:48:22Scales.
00:48:24Tierney.
00:48:29Back to Scales.
00:48:36Carter Vickers to Alistair Johnson.
00:48:41Now Scales.
00:48:43Catati.
00:48:47Closely marked, to the way he goes this.
00:48:48First half hour by Graeme Shinney.
00:48:50B-kick given the way of Catati though.
00:49:01Aberdeen have clearly, quite rightly, marked out Catati as a player who can make Celtic tick.
00:49:05who can make Celtic tick, so they've nullified.
00:49:08They marked him out the last time here,
00:49:10it cost him his place in the cup final, he's a key player.
00:49:19Celtic work it out to James Forrest.
00:49:23Alistair Johnson now cuts in from the right wing,
00:49:26Hattate tried a little flick inside Negrin but didn't quite come off
00:49:31as Keskenen runs away, evades one challenge,
00:49:34Alistair Johnson now chasing Keskenen
00:49:37as he runs down that left wing,
00:49:39and he's just showing too much of that one to Alistair Johnson.
00:49:42He just kept up with the Aberdeen winger,
00:49:44waited for the opportunity,
00:49:46and used his experience really well there did Alistair Johnson.
00:49:49Yeah, he did exactly that.
00:49:51He recognised the pace of Keskenen,
00:49:53he waited to try to cut across him.
00:49:57He went to play beautifully.
00:49:59No point in being rash with a challenge.
00:50:01He just kept up with them,
00:50:04and just waited for the opportunity to win the ball back.
00:50:08Here scales.
00:50:13Celtic, I think, playing with that.
00:50:14A little bit more confidence now.
00:50:16It's amazing what a goal can give you.
00:50:18There's McGregor inside the centre circle, scales now.
00:50:30Trying to play it forward to Hattate.
00:50:33Maeda though across on that left-hand side.
00:50:35Always 100% commitment, but Aberdeen have a throw.
00:50:39Yeah, 100% commitment.
00:50:41He just hasn't been able to find a little bit of space.
00:50:43It's been quite congested.
00:50:44You know, he likes to get in behind.
00:50:45It's not really been set up for that so far.
00:50:48Oh, lovely take by Alistair Johnson.
00:50:50From that Aberdeen clearance now.
00:50:52Can Celtic catch Aberdeen as Negrin goes down,
00:50:54bundled from behind by Shinny.
00:50:56This might be a chance at goal from Negrin.
00:51:08It's quite a distance, 25 yards or so,
00:51:10slightly right of centre.
00:51:11He receives it, it's slightly behind him,
00:51:15but he obviously recognises that he can feel the pressure from behind him.
00:51:18He knows if he gets himself between Shinny and the ball,
00:51:21that can happen, it's a clumsy challenge.
00:51:23in terms of challenge, now we've got a dangerous situation here from the free-kick.
00:51:27Got a free-kick against St Mirren, he skied over the bar,
00:51:30so a chance here for Negrin, he's already got on the score sheet once,
00:51:35can he get his second and Celtic's second after 35.5 minutes?
00:51:42Mitoff lining up four men in the Aberdeen wall,
00:51:48with Shinny just to the left, Celtic putting two players in front of the wall.
00:51:53Negrin eyes this up, up he steps, and again, just can't get the ball down quickly enough.
00:52:00Got the pace right, got the direction right,
00:52:03but just couldn't get enough dip on the ball when it goes a good couple of yards over the bar.
00:52:08Yeah, just, as you say, couldn't get the dip on it at all there, to threaten the goal.
00:52:14He'll be more than delighted to get it off the mark.
00:52:20His goal here in this first half settles the sides.
00:52:24Long kick up field, Scales against Yenge, Scales does really well at the second attempt as well,
00:52:33ball's loose but it's picked up here by Milne.
00:52:38Space across in the right there for Jensen.
00:52:40Maeda back there, but Jensen does well, here's Milanovic for Aberdeen.
00:52:45Come inside, trying to switch the play, but Alistair Johnson again taking up really good position.
00:52:55Head tennis in the middle of the park, Carter Vickers onto the chest of.
00:53:00Ida trying to play that one down to McGregor, it was cut out by Oshish, but Celtic have it on the right-hand side,
00:53:07but Forrest couldn't keep the ball in play.
00:53:09And the game will restart with an Aberdeen throw midway inside their own half,
00:53:13so still that Benjamin Negrin goal separating the sides at Pataudry.
00:53:18If it stays like this at half-time, I'm sure the Celtic manager will be pretty pleased with the first 45 minutes.
00:53:25Not so much Jimmy Thielen.
00:53:30Ida using his strength there really well against Shinny, out to Maeda,
00:53:37who's been followed by Jensen.
00:53:40Maeda waits for support, provided by Tierney.
00:53:44Back.
00:53:45McGregor finds Tierney again, now Scales.
00:53:49Inside to Carter Vickers.
00:53:57Scales leaves that one for McGregor,
00:53:59back to Scales.
00:54:06Now, Alistair Johnson again, nothing ahead of him.
00:54:09Celtic just quite happy to keep possession where they are.
00:54:15Ball through there to Hatate.
00:54:17On the left-hand side again, he's forced back.
00:54:20Back to Scales.
00:54:23Celtic not rushing things.
00:54:28Out now to James Forrest on the right.
00:54:32Inside him is Alistair Johnson.
00:54:34Forrest went for the return, but Negrin was preferred, and he was dispossessed quickly by Nielsen, who tried to set off Jenge.
00:54:40But across comes Scales to get in the way and clear that one out for an Aberdeen throw.
00:54:47Yeah, read it well there, because Aberdeen potentially had a break on.
00:54:49But we were very patient there, I thought it could have been a first-time pass round the corner that would have released Forrest there.
00:54:55Good controlled possession.
00:54:57Aberdeen clear it straight to Kieran, Tierney on the halfway line, a high cross though onto the head of Devlin.
00:55:07Negrin heads it down, McGregor will chase to keep that one in on the near side.
00:55:13Gives it back to Cameron and Carter-Vickers, inside him is Scales.
00:55:17Now Hitate.
00:55:26McGregor.
00:55:29Carter-Vickers coming forward, Celtic edging forward.
00:55:32Johnson to Forrest.
00:55:36Plays a little one-two, a nice one to Negrin, Forrest closely followed.
00:55:40Gives it back to Hitate, finds some space here for Alistair Johnson, a low cross.
00:55:44It's met once again by Devlin, and it's another Celtic corner.
00:55:48But that's good patient build-up play from the away side.
00:55:51Yeah, it is.
00:55:52And then the little intricate one-two, finds itself back at Forrest.
00:55:55Just can't get that half-yard to get a shot away.
00:55:57He's trying to fizz it across the face.
00:55:59Negrin, I think they're looking for a cut-back.
00:56:02And Ida taking off a good position in the six-yard box, but Celtic have a corner.
00:56:06As we approach the final five minutes of the first half.
00:56:09And it comes from Negrin, the glancing header there from Liam Scales.
00:56:14And it needed another touch which wasn't forthcoming.
00:56:17And it will be an Aberdeen goal kick, or a free kick.
00:56:20Yeah, another dangerous one in a similar front post area.
00:56:24Scales getting his head on it.
00:56:26And amongst four Aberdeen players, which you see nobody looking at the back post.
00:56:31Four of them went down there, I think Vickers took four of them down there.
00:56:34He did.
00:56:35Ended up Vickers plus four Aberdeen players on the deck.
00:56:38One of them's still there.
00:56:44Looks like Devlin.
00:56:49Taking his time to get back up as any normal human would,
00:56:53having been taken out by Cameron Vickers.
00:56:56That's the man there who scored the only goal.
00:57:00Scales out to Tierney.
00:57:02And it was this run against Milanovic that put it on a plate for Negrin.
00:57:07Still a bit to do, though.
00:57:08Yeah, it's a good finish.
00:57:09Yeah, it's by no means a tap-in.
00:57:11It's a really good finish.
00:57:12But we just stress the importance of getting that 1v1 with Kieran Tierney.
00:57:17The strength and the power to get by the opposition and get the cross in.
00:57:22And Negrin pops up with his first goal for the club.
00:57:26I'm sure some concussion protocols going through here from the Aberdeen medical team on Devlin.
00:57:34Being kept in a very still position.
00:57:36They seem to be working on this head and neck area as their manager gives some coaching on the touchline.
00:57:45in this kind of unofficial time-out.
00:57:57Well, you feel that the next goal in this game could be absolutely crucial.
00:58:01Yeah.
00:58:03Yeah, it's been hard-earned up until now, the lead.
00:58:06You know, Celtic have had to work hard for it.
00:58:08As we said at the start, Aberdeen at home.
00:58:11The disappointment of not picking anything up on their travels at Tynecastle.
00:58:15They'll be desperate to get something today.
00:58:18They look as if with this new team, they've got a bit of energy in it as well.
00:58:22A bit of pace going forward.
00:58:23Celtic have handled that up until now.
00:58:31Devlin getting back to his feet, so it looks like he'll be OK to continue.
00:58:37a little bump to the side of the eye socket there, I think.
00:58:51So there will be two or three minutes added at the end of the first period when we get to 45,
00:59:10so there's still a good few minutes of football left in this opening half.
00:59:16There's Devlin...
00:59:20...pulls off, I think, to come back on.
00:59:22And we're back underway, long kick-up field there from Mitoff, header won by Scales.
00:59:41McGregor's on to that, tries to release Maeda down the left-hand side,
00:59:46but it's gone out for a throw to Aberdeen,
00:59:50Nicky Devlin comes back on.
00:59:52There's no way for a throw to Nielsen,
00:59:55left out for a throw to Boly.
00:59:57We're in the second party...
01:00:10..mishit from Mitoff, lucky for him, no straight to Nielsen.
01:00:13Celtic, half an edge of the area, Hatate,
01:00:15tried to play it through to Ida,
01:00:17but a slightly mishit the pass and it was intercepted.
01:00:20Slightly mishit the pass, and it was intercepted.
01:00:24Important touch there from Alshis to release Keskinen in a bit of space
01:00:28down this left-hand side, but Celtic are back.
01:00:31Good play from Keskinen, cuts inside, Negrin releases,
01:00:34Yenge, oh, that's poor from Yenge.
01:00:37Tried to take the touch and keep the ball in,
01:00:39and take more time with the assist,
01:00:41but completely messed up the initial bit of control, so...
01:00:46Yenge, Aberdeen's new number nine,
01:00:48his brother plays for Livingston.
01:00:50Listen, he just has to put that in first time,
01:00:52from an Aberdeen perspective, it's a great move forward,
01:00:55dangerous position on that left-hand side,
01:00:57I think he tries to roll his foot over it
01:00:59and bring it back onto his right for some reason.
01:01:02Thankfully for Celtic, goes out for a goal kick.
01:01:06So we're into two minutes of added on time, Tierney has it.
01:01:21Back to scales.
01:01:24Carter Vickers out to James Forrest.
01:01:29Now Alistair Johnson.
01:01:35McGregor, scales.
01:01:39Out to Tierney.
01:01:42High cross.
01:01:44To the head of Devlin.
01:01:47Flicked inside there by Johnson to Celtic scorer Negrin.
01:01:51Come on!
01:01:52Come on!
01:01:53Come on!
01:01:54Come on!
01:01:55Come on!
01:01:56Come on!
01:01:57Come on!
01:01:58Come on!
01:01:59Come on!
01:02:00Come on!
01:02:01Come on!
01:02:02Maeda.
01:02:03Just a bit too much even for him to handle.
01:02:05So Aberdeen win it back, Alshish.
01:02:06That one for Jenson cuts inside,
01:02:07but both McGregor and Scales were back there for Celtic,
01:02:08and it will be a Celtic throw.
01:02:10Well done to Thomas McCann of Milton in Glasgow,
01:02:23who has won the £4,000 in the Paradise Windfall with ticket number P1177.
01:02:28Thomas McCann of the Milton.
01:02:31Well done to you, Thomas.
01:02:33Into the final minute of added on time.
01:02:39Celtic knew they wouldn't have it easy.
01:02:45But for that Alshish,
01:02:47long-range effort that had Kasper Schmeichel
01:02:50flinging himself to his left to make a decent save.
01:02:53He's not really pressured Celtic goal too much.
01:02:56Celtic with Kieran Tierney on that left-hand side with a touch of magic,
01:03:00and Negrin with a touch of class.
01:03:02Resulted in the only goal of the opening 45 minutes.
01:03:07He says at the end of that period,
01:03:12it's been a battle at times for Celtic, but class came through in the end,
01:03:15and that man there with his first goal for the club,
01:03:18and that man there back doing what he does best,
01:03:21driving at defences, taking defenders one-on-one,
01:03:24and putting in decent deliveries that Celtic's midfielders and frontmen can take advantage of.
01:03:29Plenty of action, plenty of drama still ahead here at Poitaudry,
01:03:34but at half-time in the Granite City it is Aberdeen 0, Celtic 1.
01:03:39Billy MacNeil holding the cup for Celtic.
01:03:44That is sensational!
01:03:52Celtic are the champions!
01:03:54The champions!
01:04:24Good수를 vote for Celtic.
01:04:25900,000 monthly believes they have seven premieres and speechless.
01:04:30I think he times both live.
01:04:31But also he does consider a pandemic to see a moment and so-
01:04:47And onside, Craig Beattie's away, Yerasek's going to get into the box,
01:04:56Beattie might go for it himself, he does go for it himself!
01:05:00Craig Beattie fires Celtic into an early lead at the Todri,
01:05:05and he's making the most of a run in the team.
01:05:08That was a fantastic striking play, absolutely brilliant from Beattie,
01:05:14he's looking along the line, it's Michael Hart who plays him onside,
01:05:18look at him looking along, he knows where the space is,
01:05:21and once he's onside, he drives!
01:05:24At the Aberdeen defence, Langford's got no chance really,
01:05:27he should maybe get a stronger hand to it, but I think Beattie takes this very well.
01:05:32Right across the goalkeeper, it's a strong finish.
01:05:35I tell you what, that is not an easy one.
01:05:37He looks up, nobody to play it to, so that's Agoura himself.
01:05:41He looks up for Benegorah Hesselink, Nakamura will bring Wilson into it.
01:05:46Nakamura for Benegorah Hesselink, who's got a free kick right on the edge of the box.
01:05:55Great play from Celtic, from the left side, into Jan Fergorah Hesselink, back out again,
01:06:04back out again to the right side, back in again to Jan Fergorah Hesselink.
01:06:08He held off Andersen, he's a big strong lad, very difficult to deal with.
01:06:16It is Nakamura!
01:06:17It is another trademark free kick for the man from Japan, so, so classy.
01:06:28Unbelievable.
01:06:29He really is.
01:06:30What a free kick's bestest to have on your side.
01:06:33And he goes round the wall.
01:06:35It goes over and round the very top corner of the wall and leaves.
01:06:39Landfield's stranded, but it's such a big wall in front,
01:06:42does Landfield really see the ball in the beginning?
01:06:44Then it comes so quickly, it's pinpoint, it's right on the side of the net.
01:06:49They're able to pick out Miller, or Mackie, or Lovell, Foster sending it back in though,
01:07:06and Fesley and McManus both going for it!
01:07:10And Nicholson with a serious strike.
01:07:15He's got great technique, it's poorly dealt with by the central defence of Celtic,
01:07:21and it falls to Barry Nicholson, and he just sizes that one up.
01:07:25You see exactly what he's going for, and he catches it well.
01:07:28He just can't get down Jimmy Calderwood, he knows that was a real chance.
01:07:33Severin.
01:07:37Seeking out Hart.
01:07:39And finding him. Nicholson.
01:07:42The way by Presley, only to Severin.
01:07:46And it turned into a pass for Chris Clarke.
01:07:49And Boric, quality again.
01:07:51Well, that's not only a great save, but a fantastic strike from Chris Clarke.
01:07:57Going for that top corner, and Boric sees it late.
01:08:00I think it takes a tiny deflection maybe off Naylor, or Hartley, is it?
01:08:03Look at that save, it's a strong left hand.
01:08:06One, two, three, four!
01:08:08One, two, three, four!
01:08:10One, two, three, four!
01:08:12And here is Jaric!
01:08:14And Landfield has stopped the game being over.
01:08:18He links up so well with other players, it's a great ball through for Jaric, and he must score.
01:08:22He tries to dink Landfield, doesn't get enough on it.
01:08:27It's a decent stop from Landfield.
01:08:29And Paul Hartley's onside.
01:08:33Now Darren Mackie.
01:08:38Can he finish? Yes, he can.
01:08:40It might have come too late for Jimmy Corderwood, Tabardine.
01:08:51Well, they've got two minutes.
01:08:53I think the Celtic defence are looking for an offside decision here.
01:08:59It did look like Darren Mackie went a little bit too early.
01:09:02It's a good finish, nevertheless, through the legs of Boric.
01:09:05He stands tall, but he couldn't stop that one.
01:09:08And the goal stands, and gets Aberdeen back in it.
01:09:22Anderson, Jaric took that one in the face.
01:09:28Can Aberdeen save the day? Darren Mackie nearly in!
01:09:31And Naylor did well to foil him.
01:09:34I think Darren Mackie uses his hand here.
01:09:37Well, is it Naylor's hand? I don't know.
01:09:45This Naylor may have been Celtic's main competitors over the last three seasons or so.
01:09:51That's a lovely ball played forward for Christie.
01:09:53McGregor on the left-hand side at the byline.
01:09:55What a chance across the face of the goal!
01:09:57And it's in the back of the net from Scott Sinclair.
01:10:01Celtic have the lead inside six minutes here at Pataudry.
01:10:05Sinclair goes across to the Celtic fans to celebrate.
01:10:08That is just the start that Celtic were looking for.
01:10:11Six minutes gone at Pataudry.
01:10:13Aberdeen 0, Celtic 1.
01:10:15Unbelievable pass from Ryan Christie.
01:10:17I just said it there that there can be rotation between the midfielders and Christie up top because he's so good in there.
01:10:23That's exactly what happened. Christie's on the ball deep.
01:10:25McGregor goes beyond him.
01:10:27Great cut back into such a dangerous area.
01:10:29I'm really not sure where the goalkeeper's going to be honest.
01:10:32Well past his front post, he's not going to save anything out there.
01:10:35But it's a great ball. Difficult to defend.
01:10:37And spotted as well in a dangerous position on the rebound.
01:10:46Again launched upfield by Lustig.
01:10:48No takers in the middle of the park for Celtic.
01:10:50So Shea Logan now.
01:10:52McKenna out towards McGinn.
01:10:54Manages to keep that one in play with his head.
01:10:56Forward by Logan again over the top of Izaguiri.
01:10:58To Niall McGinn.
01:11:00In comes the cross.
01:11:01The referee's looking at that challenge.
01:11:02It was a late one from Izaguiri on Niall McGinn.
01:11:05And it will be a penalty kick to Aberdeen.
01:11:0822 and a half minutes gone.
01:11:10And I think when Izaguiri has a chance to look back in this one,
01:11:14he'll realise that it was a late challenge, Kelly.
01:11:16Yeah, it's silly.
01:11:18Not much contact with the left foot, it has to be said.
01:11:21Chance from 12 yards for the equaliser.
01:11:24Let's see if Craig Gordon can pull off any heroics in the Celtic goal.
01:11:27Forward steps Stevie May.
01:11:29And it's in the back of the net from the Aberdeen striker.
01:11:33We have a game on our hands here at Pataudry.
01:11:3623 and a half minutes gone from the penalty spot.
01:11:39Stevie May makes it Aberdeen 1, Celtic 1.
01:11:43Odson-Edouard with the ball midway inside the Aberdeen half.
01:11:52Try to find James Forrest, what a lovely pass from Edouard.
01:11:55It's in from Forrest, what a chance for Scott Sinclair!
01:11:58And it's in the back of the net, Celtic have a second goal!
01:12:02Well, that was out of nothing.
01:12:06Odson-Edouard looked up, James Forrest started his run.
01:12:09And Odson-Edouard found him with an inch-perfect pass.
01:12:13It was a great cross from James Forrest to find Sinclair.
01:12:16One touch from Forrest, one touch from Sinclair.
01:12:19It's two from the Englishman, it's two for Celtic.
01:12:2275 and a half minutes gone here at Pataudry.
01:12:25It's Aberdeen 1, it's Celtic 2.
01:12:28What a goal, what a pass from Edouard.
01:12:30You know, he's just on the park.
01:12:32He's not taking any time to get himself settled into the game.
01:12:35It's such a good way to pass, you know.
01:12:37James, he's running onto it.
01:12:38And it's a great finish from Sinclair, it's bouncing right at him.
01:12:52In that Aberdeen Celtic penalty area.
01:12:56That's a good play from Shinny, he goes down,
01:12:58and the referee has pointed to the spot.
01:13:00I can't believe it, it's another penalty for Aberdeen.
01:13:03Just like in the first half, this time Lustig with his head in his hands.
01:13:07He cannot believe that decision that Willie Collum has given.
01:13:10Neither can all the other Celtic players around the referee.
01:13:13We're into the final nine minutes.
01:13:15It was Shinny there.
01:13:17Oh, there was nothing in that.
01:13:19There was nothing in that at all.
01:13:21It was two players shoulder to shoulder, and Shinny went down.
01:13:32Referee just making sure everyone's outside the box.
01:13:34Forward comes Cosgrove, and he's scored.
01:13:4382 minutes gone, and once again from the penalty spot,
01:13:47Aberdeen have got themselves back into this game.
01:13:50They need to play that one all the way back to Joe Lewis.
01:14:01Thankfully, Benkovic looks as if he's back to full fitness now.
01:14:04A chance for James Forrest to run at the defence.
01:14:06Inside to Odson-Edouard, the challenge from McKenna.
01:14:08Still, Edouard goes for goal, and he's found the back of the net!
01:14:12What a finish from Odson-Edouard on the turn with the left foot.
01:14:18The defence was there, the goalie was off his line, and he chips it with his left foot into the far corner.
01:14:25Look at those supporters inside the final five minutes.
01:14:30He came on, he changed the game with a pass for the cross that led to the second goal.
01:14:36And he's found the back of the net with the third.
01:14:39What a finish from Edouard!
01:14:41Aberdeen two, Celtic three, I've lost my voice.
01:14:44That is absolutely fantastic, nothing less than the guys deserve after losing a penalty like that.
01:14:48You know, it's really frustrating.
01:14:49We did see it give you a bit more motivation, and from their celebrations they're absolutely delighted.
01:14:54I mean, it's a half chance, isn't it? It's a half chance!
01:15:05Tom Rogich inside, that's a great pass to Ryan Christie.
01:15:09Now Aberdeen are going to have to come forward and leave space at the other side.
01:15:13Here's Edouard, what a finish from Edouard.
01:15:16Here he comes, cuts inside two Aberdeen players, still Odson-Edouard, still Edouard, he cuts it back, Sinclair for the hat-trick!
01:15:23And he's done it! Once again, it's Edouard with the assist.
01:15:28And Scott Sinclair comes across to the Aberdeen fans and folds his arms in front of him.
01:15:34It's a hat-trick for Sinclair, it's four for Celtic.
01:15:38That's surely the three points wrapped up now.
01:15:4187 and a half minutes gone, it puts Audrey, and it's Aberdeen two, Celtic four.
01:15:47And the Aberdeen fans have started to leave.
01:15:49Unbelievable, Odson-Edouard has come on and he has just changed this game.
01:15:52Put a class up front, first thing he did was a fancy turn in the middle of the pitch.
01:15:57Ever since then, he's just caused Aberdeen nothing but grief.
01:16:00And that is absolutely excellent.
01:16:01He could have gone down, he probably would have got a free kick, maybe even a penalty.
01:16:04He stays on his feet, takes the ball as far as he can, and it's just such a simple, simple little touch back.
01:16:10What a game-changer Odson-Edouard has been.
01:16:13He's had a hand in the last three Celtic goals, he's scored one, he's effectively set up two.
01:16:21And Derry McInnes once again must be wondering what it takes.
01:16:29In fact, the ball is in the back of the net and Aberdeen have a goal back.
01:16:32And it's Lewis Ferguson with the left foot shot from the corner when it came in.
01:16:36Oh, my goodness, is there more late drama to be had here at Pataudry?
01:16:40We're into the 90th minute.
01:16:43And it's now Aberdeen three, Celtic four.
01:16:45Go!
01:16:46Go!
01:16:49Go!
