00:00Now we had 20 teachers from around Tobago, from the different primary schools.
00:08Actually, we had 19 from Tobago.
00:10Trinidad was sold, was booked, was oversubscribed.
00:15And one teacher from Point 14 moved to Tobago to do this workshop.
00:20The intensive training included hands-on student-teacher interaction
00:25and they focused on strengthening language skills to better support dyslexic learners.
00:32It entailed them learning how to conduct a classroom assessment, how to assess these students.
00:38Then we had children come for one hour every day.
00:42So they assessed, they worked in pairs, they assessed these students for one hour every day
00:50and that went over two days.
00:53And then after the assessment, they started implementing what they were learning
01:00for the rest of the last teaching was today, for the rest of the program.
01:06Tutor with the Dyslexic Association of Trinidad and Tobago, Denicia Harisanti,
01:11said while the program was challenging, it proved to be rewarding for the participants,
01:17all of whom received certificates of completion.
01:20I think that's the joy of this because it allows us to see where in areas
01:27where we may have been encountering difficulties, there are strategies to help us to overcome such.
01:35And for the teachers, they would have spoken about the amount of homework
01:42because it's a very intensive course and I think that's where the difficulty lies
01:47because it's like a semester course in a three-week program.
01:51The closing ceremony took place at the Scarborough Methodist Primary School.
